I despise Northwestern Medicine. They are taking away our health and fitness center. That center has been around more than four times longer than NM has been in our community. They think they know what's best for our community when all it is corporate greed. They have even turned my doctor into an automaton. He has been a good doctor since they bought him up. I want our health center back!!!!

I've been a member here for two weeks. I joined because they have a nice lap pool that's clean, reservable, and open until 10 p.m. Most lap pools around my house are either nasty, have short hours, or are overcrowded. I have to drive a bit far to get here and it's more expensive than I'd like to spend but it's worth it.

I love the facility more than any other gem I’ve belonged to in the last 20 years anyways.

It’s just a regular gym and a nice one at that even though it’s a little older. It’s name makes it sound like it might be a rehab or something but it’s just a gym. With FIVE pools!

I’ve always been able to get right in the lap pool without a wait. They also have the noodles and the arm floats for working out in the pool.

They supply a lot of extra things that they really don’t have to that make it nice, like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels, swimsuit dryer, shaving cream and razors. The lockers have locks like hotel room safes so you don’t have to bring a lock with you.

I haven’t tried a class yet but I’m looking forward to it.

My only complaint is with some of the staff but most are also five stars. I didn’t know about any of this cool extra stuff when I signed up. We did my sign up and walked in silence to the locker room because I wanted to swim. I didn’t know they had an outdoor pool, I didn’t know they had a racquetball court, I didn’t know where the classrooms were where the pools were, about the swim suit spinner, shampoo and conditioner, nothing. Instead of walking in silence she could’ve been telling me about these awesome perks.

On a separate occasion a lady wouldn’t look up from the computer to acknowledge me even though I was standing right in front of her waiting and there was nobody else there. She finally said without looking up at me β€œyou can just login”. I told her that wasn’t what I was waiting to ask about. I was waiting to sign up for the pool. When you have a trial membership you can’t do that online.

I hate to complain when there is so much to love about this place! But it is too bad because there were a couple of negative experiences in an otherwise PERFECT beginning.

It’s still a five star experience for me!

Was a member for 1 year at the facility. I enjoyed the staff and my personal trainers I'd hired. However, once I informed John Walsh in billing that I had been relocated for work, he charged me for an extra month's membership and wasn't friendly like the staff on the floor. Be careful with him and the billing department. Otherwise a clean gym and enjoyable experience.

I joined Northwestern after the collar county YMCA's adopted the Cook County vax mandates in January 2022 which included my 5 year old grandchildren who would join me occasionally. To my surprise I found this fitness center to be hands down better than the the Sage, Buehler, Hastings Lake, and Foglia YMCA's hands down - superior both in what it offers (all the toiletries), free classes as well as its hours! In the two months I've been a member there hasn't been a time where the facility was so full that I couldn't use the machines, pools, sauna, hot tub, or join the free classes that I wanted!

Not sure what’s going on, seemed to be great when I first joined a month ago, now it seems like rows and rows of equipment are out of order, from locker room to equipment floor to aqua area. They can probably give every member a discount this month!!

This was my first visit, and I was pretty impressed. The facilities are very good and the amenities provided are what you'd expect at a high-end spa or hotel.

Since this is used for therapy, there are two pools that are reserved for therapy, and they are designed to accommodate wheelchairs, too! There is a lap pool (reservations needed), a spacious hot tub with lots of jets (although there was a bunch of suspicious looking foam in the water), and a leisure pool that starts at a depth of a few inches and gradually goes to a depth of about 5'.

There is a family (unisex) bathroom with private showers/changing rooms, as well as gender-specific ones similarly equipped, and the latter two have saunas in them. Someone went through while we were there to check the chemicals in the water. There is also an exercise room but we didn't use it. We spent about 3.5 hours there and enjoyed it a lot!

You can expect clean towels, a spinning device at the sink to spin-dry your wet garments, mouthwash, body lotion, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryers and free lockers, among the amenities they provide for the price of admission! Poolside, they have hula-hoops, balls, noodles and other things to exercise and play.

I think it's possibly the best place I've encountered!

You can never get in the pool anyway. All morning it is monopolized by the elderly that think the pools and therapy pools are there solely for them and at afternoon and night are the swim clubs. What about the rest of us with memberships. I eneded up canceling, because i couldnt swim in morning .

Handicapped parking is always full between 9 am and noon Monday- Friday. You might get a space at noon when people go to lunch, but many classes for retired people and the disabled are in the morning so I had to cancel my membership after 14 years. It's difficult to do therapy exercises because they do not control rowdy behavior in the "therapy" pools. You can sometimes get a handicapped space when a lot of younger people are there evenings and weekends, but then the rowdy behavior is worse.

Good supply of weight and fitness machines. Main complaint is how those machines are used, though, especially the fitness machines. People will just plant themselves on machines and take possession for 10-15 minutes, which sucks if you need that machine for your workout. In other places, you do a set, then get up and out of the way so other people can get in. Not here. At this place, the time between sets is used to chat, check email, etc., all while you’re sitting and blocking other people from using β€œyour” machine.

Also need to mention that when things break it takes a LOOOONG time for them to get fixed. The hot tub was out half a year, for instance. Maybe since Northwestern took over, this will change.

So, the inside pools are still closed and now I am told the pools will not be open until November 1st. This is rediculous - I think if they ran into a major problem they (Centegra/Northwestern/the Healthbridge Mgt Company) should have expedited the repair process and not allowed this/these mechanical problem(s) to put a large portion of the facility out of operation. I also think they owe the members a prorata refund on their monthly membership dues.

I went to the fitness center to try the bodypump class for the first time. I am not a member yet so I used my free trial pass. Everyone I met from the front desk to Frankie, the instructor, were so pleasant and friendly. They all made me feel so welcome. Since it was my first day I didn't make it through the entire hour long class, but I'm looking forward to going back! Thank you for your hospitality and good vibes.

Some one needs a hug. The childish rampage of the comments on this page simply say to me that someone is lonely, sad, hurting and I send that person a hug and kindness. This is a quality place to work out, with options for everyone, of all ages. Classes, equipment, pools, people, hours. This is a great place to belong and honor your body. One thing I would love to see is a powerful, deep water running and aerobics class. I have not found that. The 2 classes I went to were far to low key. I also would love the option of restorative Yoga (perfect after hard workout) Also would love true Bikram, or Hatha yoga practiced here. My experience is that the classes are partial yoga classes, or adapted.

Blessings for a beautiful day.

I've been going here with my family for the last 2 years. Always clean and great ammeneties, staff friendly and helpful, pools awesome, locker rooms well maintained. I can't recommend it enough. Don't believe the salty reviews, I get it that some people must have had a bad day, but that in no way makes it a bad place. I've always had a great impression and I'd recommend it to anyone, and I often do!

I have gone back 3 times after ending my membership because of unclean pool and lock rooms at both clubs. I have gotten several skin problems from the pools. I've seen a significant small pool of blood on the shower room floor β€” it was there for at least more than an hour. I have seen things on the walls and floors that made me feel ill. Customer service is rude and unconcerned, almost across the entire staff. First contact staff people, at the desk at both clubs provide incorrect info or have no idea how to answer a question or refer a customer to the proper person for an answer. They look blankly at you and go back to talking with friends at the desk. This happens often, it's not an anomaly. I'm done this time when my membership endsβ€”IF I remember to give THEM 30 days notice that the contract is up, and IF they allow me to actually end it. This is one of the most poorly organized businesses in the county. Please God let someone buy this organization and make the customers the focus. I'm quite sure Centegra management never reads these reviews and wouldn't care anyway.

i was in their swim exercise class and enjoyed it very much. my problem came with the intense smell of chlorine. it made my chest congested, the fumes made my eyes red and weep and burn like crazy and i never put my head in the water, it was just the fumes. i got a skin rash on my neck and chest. and i got a bladder infection. after explaining all this to my doctor she said all of this was most probably from their leisure pool where the class was held. i only went to 4 classes and couldn't stand it anymore. nor could i stand the nasty looking - brown smudges? - on their water noodles. my doctor gave me a written letter to cancel the membership. as i have read much now about swimming pools and chemicals i've come to understand that the intense chlorine smell comes from the mingling of chemicals and urine, sweat and feces. a healthy pool does not smell this way. it would take several washing to get the chlorine smell out of my swim suit and i can honestly say i've never experienced the intense chlorine smell in other public/resort pools that i've been in. it's an old facility and very unhealthy.

Not even worth the star. I used to love going to this gym because of cleanliness and convenience but after I moved they kept charging my card for two unused memberships and then DOUBLE CHARGED ME when my mother went in to change the card. Don't bother going here if you want to save money!

This is a great gym! Clean facilities, lots of options for equipment and classes, and flexible hours that work for most schedules. Less crowded than Lifetime, and more options (equipment and classes) than the YMCA. Is it expensive? A bit more so than the YMCA or Charter, etc. But, for all of the classes and activities they have, it's worth it.

Read the negative reviews. My experience, after 5 months is positive. Staff works very hard. Facilities are clean; pool is best one I have had the opportunity to use having experiences in New York and Connecticut.
Amenities are really excellent. As far as membership cost I invite you to try out the East Coast gyms; less facilities and more money.
So far, so good.

Just got information from membership department that when I joined and became a member that I CANNOT CANCEL my membership at any time until my anniversary date has been reached. Just Imagine paying for 4 memberships (family of four) every month ( even if you are not actively using the facility) yet they will only offer holding your monthly fees for a maximum of 4 months ( fees may apply) but then they will EXTEND your anniversary date by another 4 months and still pay your monthly membership dues.Nowhere can you find this on their website no matter how hard you look. This is NOT one of those "you can cancel any time" if you are not satisfied.SO IF YOU ARE NOT SURE THAT YOU ARE GOING TO USE YOUR MEMBERSHIP, REMEMBER DO NOT EVEN JOIN....but find out if they might have monthly membership agreements?

Next option : complain to better business bureau ? BBA

My husband and I joined this club during the middle of summer. We had every intention of teaching our son swimming lessons to avoid the dirty Dolphin Swim Club. I also LOVE to swim for a total body workout. We signed up for the premier package to utilize free child care for our kids when we work out. The child care center was JAM PACKED with summer camp kids and frankly scared the bageezus out of my 1 year old. No effort was made to calm my daughter, they didn't even open the infant room for her and the other scared kiddos. Instead, they came to get me mid work out. This happened EVERY time I went there until I called the daycare manager. I also had to base my schedule on the club's summer swim lessons. It feels as if squeezing every last dollar out of members is more important than providing an overall good experience. The family changing room has mold and mildew in it, I have mentioned this to two managers now. It has been months and no efforts have been made to rectify this. I don't feel paying a giant fee to use a bad facility is fair. I feel the situation gets more agitated in the summer when absolutely no attention is paid to the members but focused on the summer camp crazies and swim lessons.

If you are shopping around for fitness options, be very cautious with Health Bridge. It's a great looking place, but their cons can outweigh they're pros.

First off, if you cancel, they'll try to CONvince you with high pressure sales and fast talking to do a 4 month hold period in which they'll immediately charge your credit card and resume membership. If you changed credit cards since than, they clip you with a fee. They refuse to sign a cancel form until your balance is $0.00. I tried to resolve this matter with Toni and Bonnie, no use.

If you are considering them because of their indoor track, consider the quality of the track as well as busy times with your schedule. It's no fun using a track when you have a bunch of other people going at different speeds. In addition, the track historically hasn't been in great shape or level.

Also consider their membership costs. Even if you are getting a corporate deal, there are a lot of other options out there that charge way less and may be open 24hours, etc.

The locker rooms at Health Bridge are usually packed and not really roomy to use. You tend to have to shuffle stuff around to accommodate other people.

Good luck with your search. Anyone can provide treadmills and weights, not everyone can provide a service that makes you feel that you spent your $ wisely. Health Bridge did not do that for me.
