This is such a fun gym. The SAs are great and very friendly, and the coaches are fun and knowledgeable. Something I really appreciate about the coaches here is that they let me know right away if I need to correct my form during an exercise and how to do so.
The spacing at the stations is great too. At some locations you’ll feel like you’re on top of each other in class, but that’s not the case here. I also love that they tell us what exercises to do. I just have to show up!
Highly recommend if you’re in the area and looking for a gym to go to!

Have been doing OT for just over a year now and can’t believe it took me so long to get on board. It’s such a good workout in terms of quality but also great for someone who needs direction and accountability. The instructors are fantastic and the front desk staff is so friendly and welcoming. You feel like part of a community, but can be as involved or not as you’d like! Highly recommend.

As a member of Orangetheory since 2019 with nearly 600 classes under my belt, I can honestly say OTF has completely changed the way I think about fitness and what a gym should be. When I moved to the area, OTF Andersonville welcomed me with open arms, and I haven’t looked back since.
This studio is truly community-focused. The team is welcoming, friendly, attentive, and responsive. Angel (studio manager), Britt-Marie (head coach), and the entire staff go above and beyond to make sure members feel valued and supported. The space is always spotless, well-maintained, and the new equipment has taken the experience to the next level. And an additional bonus? The studio has parking—a rarity in the city!
With so many fitness options out there, OTF Andersonville stands out because it offers so much more than just a workout. The class schedule is flexible, the workouts can be scaled to any fitness level, and the coaches do an amazing job adjusting exercises for injuries while also checking form and giving helpful tips.
If you’re looking for a supportive community, challenging workouts, and a studio that truly cares, OTF Andersonville is the place. Highly recommend taking the leap—you’ll love the journey!

I love the structure of the Orange Theory workouts—challenging, motivating, and adaptable to how I’m feeling each day. The coaches are friendly, supportive, and know you by name, and the studio is always spotless with top-notch equipment. The heart-rate tracker keeps me accountable and I’ve seen real improvements in my fitness. A special shoutout to Manager Angel, who creates a welcoming, community-focused environment without any pressure. This membership has been well worth the cost, and it’s easy to see why so many people stay loyal to OTF for years. Highly recommend!

I’ve been attending Orangetheory Andersonville consistently Monday through Friday at the 11:15 class, and it’s truly become one of my favorite parts of the day. The energy here is completely different from a regular gym; it’s welcoming, encouraging, and a perfect fit no matter where you are in your fitness journey.
The coaches are fantastic: motivating, knowledgeable, and always ready to push you just the right amount. The front desk staff and manager set the tone the moment you walk in. They’re warm, professional, and genuinely make you feel at home.
The studio itself is always spotless, which I really appreciate. They’ve recently upgraded the treadmills, which makes a huge difference, and the variety of heavier weights means you can really challenge yourself and keep progressing.
If you’re looking for a supportive, results-driven environment with a great community vibe, Orangetheory Andersonville is it. I can’t recommend it enough!

I had an extremely negative experience with the Studio Manager, Angel. He was unrelenting in refusing to disengage with me after becoming defensive and aggressive regarding my membership. At some point I realized by his statements he was confusing me with another member or just lying.
I said, “We’re clearly not communicating well. Please just share a contact for someone else I could speak with,” he repeatedly and aggressively insisted that I speak only with him. He stated multiple times that I needed to give him the opportunity and that there was no need to speak to anyone else. He further emphasized that, as the manager of the studio, he determines what happens there and that nobody else does.
Angel continued to ignore my request to be stop engaging and was upsetting enough I felt I had to leave mid-workout. As I walked out, he smiled and said, “Okay, bye,” which only intensified the hostility of the encounter.

Visiting Chicago from Columbus, OH with my girlfriend. Decided to workout at this location because Evan was coaching a class, who previously coached at a Columbus OTF. He was such a pleasure to meet and had such great energy. Such a great atmosphere and community at this location. Shoutout to AJ as well! We will definitely be back!

Orangetheory Andersonville is the best OTF location in Chicago. The coaches are experienced, encouraging, and willing to correct form. There’s a sense of community and support in the studio from the SAs in the front to the coaches to the members. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Drop in when you’re in town for a great workout. There’s a parking lot for members, showers, and lockers. It’s a roomier studio, and they have the new treadmills.

Extremely Disappointing Experience — Unprofessional Instructor
I attended the 7:30am class at Orangetheory Andersonville on Thursday, April 10, 2025, and it was, without a doubt, one of the most frustrating fitness experiences I’ve had. The instructor spent the majority of the class chatting and gossiping with one of the members — presumably a friend — who was barely participating and even left early. Why this person even showed up is beyond me, but the fact that the coach prioritized socializing with him over doing her actual job is unacceptable. At one point I was even questioning if they were flirting with each other. Gross.
This was a small class of only 10 people — more than manageable for a coach who gives even the slightest bit of effort. Instead, we were ignored. Not once did she check in, offer guidance, or even acknowledge most of us. I watched multiple members clearly struggling with form, hoping to get help, only to be completely overlooked because the coach had her back to the floor, too busy chit-chatting. I had to physically walk up and interrupt her mid-gossip just to ask a basic question.
She defaulted the entire class to start on treadmills — removing the choice we’re usually given — which, frankly, felt like an effort to minimize how much instruction or direction she needed to provide. It came across as lazy and disengaged.
I don’t enjoy writing reviews like this, but it’s not the first time this has happened with this coach — which tells me this is a pattern, not an off day. The lack of professionalism, attention, and care is unacceptable — especially in a fitness environment where safety, encouragement, and energy are key. If I wanted to be ignored while trying to better myself, I’d work out at home. At least then I wouldn't be paying a premium for the privilege of being treated like background noise.
I frequently take 7:30am classes at this location and members rarely leave class early. Today half the class ended up leaving before the class was over. No surprise why.
People worry about AI taking jobs — this class was proof that a robot would’ve been more attentive, more helpful, and more invested than the human in charge.
Orangetheory, this is a massive miss. Do better and get your standards back on track.

It’s focused on building awareness and insight of the body and functioning. The workouts are challenging but there is room for adaptation if needed. It’s a holistic workout, involving cardio, strength and mindset. I like that it builds attunement and I am learning so much about what my body can do; the focus isn’t on what the body and mind can’t do, but rather, what they can do. The coaches are super supportive, and when you attend regularly, they get to know you in ways that help you stay focused on your goals, helping to tap into your strengths and challenge your distortions. Also, they have great community building activities, so you stay connected, make friends and have an impact in the community.

I’ve been a proud member of Orange Theory since November 2021, and I cannot recommend it enough! Moving to Chicago was a big transition for me, and OTF quickly became more than just a fitness studio—it became a community that made me feel at home. The coaches are truly incredible, providing personalized encouragement and keeping every class both challenging and fun. Beyond helping me reach and maintain my fitness goals, OTF has been a place where I’ve grown physically and emotionally. Whether you’re new to the city, looking to hit new fitness milestones, or simply want to be part of a welcoming and supportive community, OTF is the place to be!

I've found my fitness home at OTF Andersonville and couldn't be happier. The coaching team here is fantastic - I especially look forward to classes with Rambo, Britt-Marie, and Tom (shout out to Abril and Angel up front, too!). They've got this perfect balance of pushing you to improve while keeping the vibe supportive and real.
The format works wonders for my ADHD brain - just when you're getting antsy, it's time to switch stations (whoever designed these workouts definitely gets it). Love the tech aspect too - watching your stats in real-time on the screens and tracking progress with the heart rate monitors adds this extra layer of motivation that really works.
The Strength 50 classes are a great option when I want to focus more on weights than cardio. It's a perfect complement to the regular 2G and 3G classes. The whole setup just works - show up, follow the template, get a solid workout. Studio's clean, equipment's top-notch, and they've got all the essentials covered.
What makes this place special is how genuine it feels. No one's here for the Instagram shots - people just come to work out and get stronger. The community's solid, coaches know their stuff, and the workouts are consistently challenging.
Free parking and convenient location in the neighborhood don't hurt either. If you're looking for a reliable fitness routine with some actual data to back up your progress, this is definitely your spot.

When I moved to Chicago, I was so excited when I found out there was an Orange Theory walking distance from my apartment. It took me 2 years to finally make that call and get into an Orange Theory.
AJ greeted me with so much kindness and joy. His genuine compassion and his empathy was everything I needed. He held my hand and dried up my tears and let me know that I could do this.
He set me up with one of the trainers Rambo to be by my side the entire class and introduced me to the Tom who was instructing the class. I was greeted with open arms by both of them.
I was so overwhelmed and intimated by just being there. As soon as the music started and I felt the energy of everyone there, I felt at ease and focused on completing my first class.
It will be a year in January that I have been going to Orange Theory. I’m so proud of myself every time I finish a class. I have AJ and the entire staff to thank for being so awesome and creating such a kind and safe environment!

I can't say enough great things about OTF Andersonville!
The classes are always engaging, fun, so I never get bored or feel like I'm stuck in a rut. The staff is incredible, and I have to give a special shoutout to AJ, who is absolutely amazing! The team at my neighborhood Orangetheory are THE BEST! I didn't expect to make friends at a gym, and I was pleasantly surprised to be welcomed so warmly when I started about a year ago. Recently I partnered with the OTF team to offer a mindfulness workshop-- I like how they make an effort to build community. The workouts are challenging and adaptable/accessible. I feel comfortable knowing that everyone is doing their own thing and I can take them exercises at my own pace. The coaches and team are really supportive and fun. I used to dread the gym and now I look forward to it. I've seen amazing results from the classes.

I have been a member at Orangetheory Fitness for 3 years and have explored a bunch of studios throughout the Chicagoland area and Andersonville is BY FAR the best and my most favorite studio of all time. From the staff--management and coaches to the members, I cannot rave enough about how OTF has changed my life. These people have become my family. Angel and AJ both go above and beyond for their members making sure you're booked for the classes you want and are celebrated for your milestones and hard work. They are so welcoming and exude the most positive energy. They make you want to keep coming back day after day. The coaches--Rambo, Britt Marie, Tom, Anna, the list goes on, are energetic and helpful to provide any modifications and to correct form to keep you challenged and safe. The MEMBERS bring the intensity, fun, encouragement, and friendship. With this trifecta, commitment and consistency is easily obtained creating a lasting impact, but not just physically, mentally and emotionally as well. I cannot recommended this place and these people enough!

I cannot recommend OTF Andersonville highly enough! The studio managers, AJ and Angel, know and remember me, greeting me by name when I come into the studio. The coaches (especially Britt-Marie and Rambo) are knowledgeable, energetic, and offer both encouragement and correction on form. I have stuck with OTF more consistently than almost any other workout routine--it is so nice to just show up to class and get both cardio and strength in without having to put the mental effort into deciding on a workout, and to still get variation in the workouts. I have even had several injuries throughout my time working out here (from isolated incidences outside of the gym), and the coaches and staff have been so great at helping me modify certain exercises to make sure I take care of myself and still get a great workout. 10/10 would recommend!

The staff is passionate, knowledgeable, and so friendly. AJ at the front desk provides the energy I need for the early morning classes! Coaches Britt-Marie, Rambo, Tom have coached me through minor injuries by providing modifications, but also provided motivation to keep setting and meeting fitness goals. Angel, Abril, and Lily are always so welcoming and greet me like a friend. We were visiting Chicago for six weeks and were delighted to have the Andersonville OTF just 2 blocks from the house. What a great experience. Friendly and helpful staff. Great coaches. As people who travel all the time we have been to many OTFs. You get consistency in the workout but not necessarily with the experience. Andersonville was one of the best. We were made to feel welcome from the start. Almost like locals! Thanks to AJ for his helpfulness and great attitude. We will be back.

Andersonville OTF. Finally, an OrangeTheory gym that does not charge me $10 or more to take a class, due to my membership rates. That's a rarity among Chicago area. Also, my HRM was already calibrated and did not need to ask staff to add it. This is a good sign for sure.
Minus, the treads only go up to 12 mph, not a huge deal. With inclines it's fine, I s'pose.
Anyway you might say 3 stars is low, but check out my other reviews for OT gyms in Chicago and you'll get the full picture pretty easily. Yeah, 3 is the new 5, baby!
Huzzah, I guess.
UPDATE (8/29) -- I learned that OTF Andersonville DOES charge a surcharge, but they forgot to do it for me. They waived the charge for the 2 days I was visiting, so only docking one star for it!

This is truly my happy place. Prior to Orangetheory, I was having trouble sticking to a fitness routine. I had the motivation to exercise more regularly, but lacked the discipline needed to sustain it. After doing a free trial class at the Andersonville studio, I was instantly hooked. The studio environment, atmosphere, quality of workout, staff, and coaches are phenomenal. The community is positive, respectful, and down-to-earth. This OTF studio is fabulous! I am a new member. And, I am definitely on the older end of the demographic of OTF members. Trey is who I worked with before heading over to the studio and when I arrived for the first time. He was exceptional! Britt Marie was my first coach. I was nervous and felt fully supported by Britt Marie all throughout the first few classes. I wanted a routine to kick up my fitness from power walking and yoga. I love the vibe, the music helps you keep going, the hour goes really fast! This studio is laid out well with top notch equipment and clean! The combination of treadmills, rowers and floor work with weights, TRX and more is an excellent overall workout. Anyone who is behind the desk is friendly and helpful! I needed help with my tracker today and they solved the issue. I have been involved in different fitness routines for many years, including using a personal trainer. I think this OTF location and the philosophy behind their workouts is top notch. I am so grateful I was encouraged by my daughter-in-law to give it a try! I'm hooked.

First off, OTF-Andersonville is the BEST studio, hands down!!! In general though, I love OTF because the workout is different every day and you never know what to expect! I love that i don't have to think... just follow the coaches and the plan. I also love that I ALWAYS get a great workout. Every time.

Summary: 4 BILLING ERRORS in a few months of membership. I sent up to 10 emails since March to Tara and Atiya requesting the explanation of why my credit card being charged so many times and mandate the charges removal.
They apologized for the confusion on their part (it is their software issue), but still have not refunded a full amount.
So, please if you consider the place ( BTW, the trainers are great), make sure you track all the charges that they take.

I spent way more money then I should have here. I went 3 times. The last time they had a huge gap in the stations and then they had us right next to each other, so we should have been staggered. Then when I was very new this one trainer kept getting on my case about this that or the other thing and in a way that was very patronizing. Overall I like the concept but its just not worth the money. They're obsessed with these number systems and hitting these goals but didn't really explain the targets in a way that made sense it was like there was some kind of magic zone. Not really my thing.

Alisha and Rambo were AMAZING… First of all I felt Alisha’s warm welcome by her lovely smile before I got to the door from the parking lot. She was so sweet and made sure my friend and I felt so comfortable and went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything that we needed to have a fun experience. She is a true gem .. she deserves to definitely manage her own location
Coach austin Rambo was AWESOMMMEEE!! Granted I almost died during the workout because I’m so out of shape but he made it fun, checked on us, joked with us and helped us throughout the workout. We truly had a great time. Thank you Alisha and coach Rambo.

I love that everyday is different! It never gets old or boring. I also love that the coaches share things about their personal lives, allowing us to get to know them better and support them in their personal endeavors.

After a three-year gym hiatus (grad school, COVID) I joined OTF. Not gonna lie, it’s kind of intimidating to be struggle-walking next to someone on a full-out run, or not being able to hold my leg up for long on the floor (ugh, my core is still aching from that), BUT everyone there is so friendly and supportive. They check in frequently and the only person taking time to judge me is me.🤪 I recommend giving OTF a try, even if you’re new. The routines are a good balance of muscle training and cardio, they place awesome music, and I already feel right at home.😊

I’m always long winded and could talk about Orange Theory forever, but I’ll get right to the point. The whole theory works. I should have joined years ago. If you’re stuck on the fence about whether or not to join, just do it. Trust me, you’ll be so glad you did!

Excellent workout. I've been to quite a few OTFs and Andersonville has hands down the best coaches. Other gyms I've frequented often focus on "burning off brunch" or getting "summer ready" but you don't hear that here. The focus on feeling capable in your body is so refreshing!

When you come in for your workout, you feel like you are working out with friends, even though you might not know anyone. I. love. Jeff! FRAUD WARNING: Getting locked in a contract with these guys before COVID hit was awful timing. Once the lockdowns occurred, OTF Andersonville wouldn't let customers cancel without billing us another $200. After a lot of pleading, they allowed customers to "freeze" their accounts for 30 days I did this twice, then was notified in July that I could keep it frozen indefinitely until I notify them later in the year.
With zero warning or notification or receipt, they started billing me months ago. Bridgette informed me that in addition to the $400 they've taken so far, they'd hold me to an additional $200 for cancelling.
I'm unemployed and COVID positive, but I guess I'm glad I'm financially propping up a shady franchise location? This place was better as a liquor store.

Finally returned to Orangetheory after it had been closed for a few months due to Covid. I was hesitant but when I arrived at the studio, I was very impressed with the way they did things! There are temperature checks before you even enter plus a questionnaire, there are modified lockers for your items, the machines are properly spaced out, and there are limited class sizes. Additionally, coach was super supportive and encouraging throughout the whole class, and the front desk staff was super welcoming. I’m definitely not where I was three months ago healthwise but after today,I feel confident I’ll get back to shape and I feel very comfortable being back with how the studio is operating now.. Can’t wait to work out more here!

I tried out Orangetheory and I love the power workout we did. It allowed for floor exercises to develop form and control, with some resistance, and then on the row machine I was new to that so I had to pay attention but was able to really push once I got the hang of it. On the treadmill since I'm used to running for exercise, I could go all out and a couple times had to scale back because I was overdoing it a little. :-) The trainer Jeff was so good about helping demonstrate everything beforehand and encouraging me to play around with the zones to see what works for me. Jeff was friendly and knowledgeable but not overbearing, letting me work hard and encouraging me to push myself and acknowledging when I did so, also checking in periodically to make sure I was okay with the modifications I had to make for an injury. A great session with some nice equipment and great staff.

I LOVE this gym! All of the equipment is new and the technology is great. They provide sweat towels which is awesome because not all Oragne Theory gyms do that. The coaches are amazing - so motivational, knowledgable about the workouts and funny at the appropriate times. The people working at the front desk are always welcoming and put a smile on my face. I enjoy every class and get an incredible workout while doing it. I would highly recommend!

Look out -- this location told me that if I wasn't happy within the first month and cancelled, I'd get a full refund. It was just fine but not for me, and they claimed to have no idea about the refund promise. Now I'm out $169, due to false salesmanship. Look out for these people conning you.

I love Orange Theory! But this location... all the talk and the studio is so basic. Other locations are designed a lot better. Such a small studio space, monitors aren’t laid out right nor are the rowers and no windows lol I dunno maybe it’s me. Where’s the time clock?? There’s no time clock!! Also, why the big open lobby and tiny work out space. Who ever designed or approved this lay out needs to be fired. Ugh not sure I’ll stick with this location. I keep telling my self it’s only an hour but other locations are so much better for a work out in and out! I’m going to give it a few more try’s... just sad, was very excited for a nice studio and boom nothing special special! Andersonville the new up coming neighborhood and we get this OTF as our gym. Very disappointing! Let’s hope the coaches and staff make up for it. Oh yeah! opening day no snacks, no vendors or gifts. Just not impressed with all the talk that was given about this location!
