I would have done 5 stars but some of the members take away from the experience. People take over the 30 minute circuit area and camp on machines, playing on their phones. I understand taking a moment in the general area to let your muscles rest, but I specifically prefer the express workout because it’s a great set up and fits my busy schedule.

Also, I often watch sweat-soaked people use machines and walk away without cleaning them. Clearly they’ve never had a kid with ringworm or HFM disease. I always wipe my machine before I use it, but it’s just general gym etiquette to clean after yourself.

Otherwise, the additional amenities for Black Card members are phenomenal and the staff are always friendly and helpful. I also love their community building programs, like offering free summer memberships for high school students and allowing folks to use showers after a tornado hit.

I love this location. All of the employees are nice to me, and I think the facilities are well kept.

I use most of the machines, and I would recommend the total body enhancement with the black card. Showers here are clean always, and I can attest to that because I shower every time I go!

I just started a membership this past week. I’m so pleased with this gym. It is filled with clean machines, lots of cardio equipment, and friendly people. The staff is fantastic. Macey, Kaitlyn, and Savannah were so very helpful to my sister and I. Each day They see them they are willing to help me and always with a smile on their faces. I’m super happy I joined this club.

I enjoy going to this gym. It's never that busy. The only thing I can complain about, which has nothing to do about the business itself, is the people sitting forever on the machines on their freaking phones not working out. It's clean, & the employees are nice.

Started this gym 2 years ago and it helped me loose almost 100 lbs. Everyone is always exceptionally kind. Christine and Ray and all the countless other employees are an asset to your Company. That being said, I absolutely do not like the new positioning of the machines in the center aisle...it is entirely too crowded...everyone's absolutely too close..please put them back the way they were...back down by the free weights/dumbells...if more free weights were needed (in my opinion they were not) there was certainly a better place.

I travel in #VanLife. This is only third 5 star PF that I’ve seen (the others in East Coast and Tucson). Clean, large, brand new equipment AND individual shower stalls (female locker room) with nice dressing rooms. Great place to wish I lived locally so this could be my home gym.

Tested out a Planet Fitness Membership while in Alton for work and loved it! The atmosphere is really welcoming and non-judgmental, which makes it easy to feel comfortable, especially if you’re just starting out on your fitness journey. The staff is always friendly and motivating, which gives me the extra push I need some days. The gym is also super clean, and I appreciate how well they maintain the space. And after a tough workout, the hydromassage bed is a lifesaver—it’s the perfect way to relax and unwind. Overall, it’s just a great place to work out without feeling pressured or out of place.

I'm excited to share my experience recently with the Planet Fitness in Alton Illinois. I went there with skepticism because I was given an opportunity to get a membership through my health insurance. And my health insurance has never shown willingness to help in medical matters current or in the preventative manner. And I think gym memberships are so vital to everyone's well-being and a balanced way and I am excited to get back into that endeavor once again. I really owe it all to an employee named Rayann there who took the time, the initiative to learn something new and she showed so much with her patience, kindness and even humor to get us over the the hurdle to wear I'm a member. I am therefore very happy and willing to take time and write about her efforts in this, hoping that it not only generates interest in Planet Fitness, but that it is red by the people who employ her and it resonates so that they will recognize they have a special .gift. I sure hope she is treated with the utmost respect, compensated fairly inappropriately generosity and given every opportunity to ascend within the company. A lot of times people write these reviews based upon one experience, either bad or good, and sometimes that doesn't always give an accurate read, whether talking about an individual working or the business itself. However, I spent two different times with her and both for longer than brief portions of time. So, without hesitation I write this with absolute confidence. Rayann is what anyone should aspire to be as an employee. It matters not the type of business because she would be good for any company looking to succeed.

I recently started going to Planet Fitness in Alton, IL, and I have to say that my experience has been excellent overall. The staff at this location is truly fantastic - they are friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help with any questions or concerns. Their positive attitudes and willingness to assist make each visit enjoyable.

One of the things I appreciate most about this Planet Fitness is that it isn't overcrowded with people, even during busy times. This allows me to work out in a more comfortable and less chaotic environment, which is great for staying focused on my fitness routine.

While I have had a great experience at this location, I do wish that they would update their equipment to be compatible with Apple devices like some of the other Planet Fitness locations. It would be convenient to be able to easily sync my workouts with my Apple devices for tracking and monitoring purposes.

Overall, I would rate Planet Fitness in Alton, IL a 4.5 stars. The exceptional staff, uncrowded atmosphere, and welcoming environment make it a standout gym in the area. I highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a positive and supportive fitness experience. I look forward to seeing any potential updates in the future and continuing my fitness journey at Planet Fitness.

This is my second Planet Fitness location that I have been a member of, was thankful when it opened up closer to my home. I’ve been a black card member at the Alton location for a couple of years and can confidently say that my experience at this location has been one of my favorite for commercial gyms. There’s always plenty of equipment to choose from, plenty of space so it’s not overcrowded, and the staff is done an excellent job of creating the feeling of community within the store. I’m always guaranteed to be greeted with a hello and a goodbye and maybe even a little bit of laughter at my horrible dad jokes. The store is always clean and well-maintained. As a certified personal trainer, I think this store Is well suited for anybody at any level of fitness journey, from beginners to the advanced. The staff has always been quick to answer any questions that I have or help when I need it, like when I forget the combination to my locker (Which happens more often than I would like to admit). If you’re unsure, just give it a try. I think you’ll find that both the facilities and the staff will be welcoming and exactly what you need to help you reach your goals.

I’ve enjoyed this gym for many years with my family but it is too small and we out grew what they offer. There is another fitness center nearby that offers new and upgraded equipment plus a large pool that ended up being cheaper than our monthly membership for our 4 person household at planet fitness. Also there is an annual fee at planet fitness. Can’t speak highly enough of the staff at planet fitness, they are absolute sweet hearts! Especially morning crew (5 AM squad) I’ve really enjoyed getting to know all of them. The manager on Saturdays here is a bit difficult to work with, but I appreciate the interaction with him because if I hadn’t had those conversations with him I wouldn’t have explored the other gyms in the area that offer way more for serious gym enthusiasts. If you are just starting out, this isn’t a bad place to check out but definitely compare plans at the other gyms in the area because you can get way more for less cost.

Due to some unfortunate events I had to come back for a visit. I have to say the place was in tip top shape, all of the workers were working very hard, I hardly seen anyone standing around and talking, I believe Ray was running things for the night, she was doing everything perfectly. Seems management has pulled together an amazing team, it was nice to be back!

Love the gym. Full of amazing staff. A few of my favorites would have to be Paul Ethan and KAMI! They make this gym feel like home. The first to welcome anyone walking through the doors. Very knowledgeable about the equipment and gym amenities. And work extremely hard keeping the entire gym clean and sanitized. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen any of them not cleaning or showing new members the ropes. These guys set high standards and keep me coming back!

New to planet fitness - felt extremely unwelcoming - manager was so rude about the check in policy that I had to contact the corporate office in Hampton New Hampshire. I've been to other non plant fitness all over the country / this location the workers are rude not friendly always eating in the front. No to this location - not keeping the membership!!!

This is a poor score for customer service. The faculty was useless. All 4 staff at the check in were lacking communications skills and their personality was extremely bland. They were all very unprofessional and undertrained in customer relations. The inside of the building had a foul odor and the floors were not swept. Planet fitness gives our youth a free summer pass to enjoy health and fitness. I will not bring my teenagers here. I would rather pay out of pocket to ensure their safety and well being. We took our buisness somewhere else.

I have traveled and exercised everywhere for 35 years in the United States. I have never experienced the unwelcoming staff like this location. I have two other memberships with different companies and wasn’t sure if I really wanted to join planet fitness. So I did get a planet fitness classic membership which is only good for my location near my home.. The first time when I went to the Alton location the manager was rude. She actually had one of her workers come and fish me out of the locker room and told me pretty much just to leave. Never tried to sell me a black card membership just rude. So when I went back home, I spoke with my location planet fitness manager and they told me that corporate charges a five dollar fee for someone who is a visitor to town. So when I return back to the Alton the location, I told the manager I was told corporate agreed that visitors can pay five dollars as long as they were a classic member. Why did she not tell me this??? Just rude!!! So I paid my five dollars and everything was fine for three visits over eight months. Today, I go there and Joran “the manager” told me they had a meeting and no longer allow visitors to workout even though I have a classic Membership.. Jordan was pleasant but, I’m
done with the NO WORKOUT FOR YOU location. So I went down the street to the Nautilus fitness center and they happily took my $15 for the work out for today and they were pleasant.

I've been exercising for many years and have never had any issues with club staff . I travel over the road truck driver. And go to many gyms. I've never had such a bad experience as what I'm getting from this location the staff has been very rood and very unprofessional. I was told by employee to not move the benches around the club . When I ask why that I have never heard of that . I asked the manager why I couldn't move the bench for a decline benchpress. The look I got was not helping me . This turned out very poorly for me. I've had a new membership with this franchise and have only gone to this location maybe three times In a few months and am already having problems with the workers . Not gonna let other s keep me from becoming a better person.

If you’re a POC avoid this location. I came today at exactly 8:49 and the 3 woman standing up front wouldn’t even acknowledge me. I watched them smile and greet EVERY white Person that walked in and left And Of course when i walked out they still didn’t acknowledge me. I’ve always heard stories of how prejudice people in ALTON are but wasn’t for sure. Edwardsville planet fitness looks better and the employees, customers aren’t prejudice . Will not be returning .

I like this gym! They offer alot of amenities as a black card member. I suggest being a black card member! The ALL BODY ENHANCEMENT machine has been down for quite awhile now. I never write many reviews but I had to for this Planet Fitness. I am from Kansas and here for a few weeks. I want to say our planet Fitness gyms back home in Kansas are no where near as nice. The staff here in Alton are very helpful and make you feel right at home. This gym is very clean and well kept. I just wish this was my hometown gym!!

The staff is friendly and the setup is nice. However, I do not feel safe anymore exercising during the pandemic. They used to enforce more mask policies and guests would at least usually wear them in between machines. Now there’s barely a mask in sight and when it is, it’s a chin diaper. I contacted them privately and got a copy-and-paste script response about caring about the “health and safety” of staff and guests but if they cared about our health, they would actually enforce their mask policy. Really disheartened by this but I hope to return after the pandemic because the staff is really nice.

I canceled my membership and was charged after my cancellation. I called and was told there was no record of my cancellation. They said would credit the amount back to my bank account but they never did. I called a few times and was assured it was being processed but in the end I had to dispute it with my bank.
