I read the reviews and I the skeptical, but I wanted to check it out for myself.
The club was fine. I've been to MANY different locations, they all have wear and tear, but this one was not like what the previous reviews warned about.
***They may have updated/changed to remove the negativity, I don't know🤷. But it was fine.

*Worst gym location ever*. DON’T GO THERE unless you only do light workouts. The place is falling apart — there are visible leaks, and the AC doesn’t work during the summer. They’ve been saying for weeks that they’ll fix it, but nothing ever happens. The typical temperature inside is around 80–85°F. It’s so hot that even the front desk staff use a fan just to stay cool.

I went to Planet Fitness on 47th and Damen on the Southside of Chicago, and Israel was so very nice and informative. He answered all my questions and even showed me how to use the machines for my targeted workout, as well as showing me how to stretch and do the workout. Israel wanted my experience to be even greater. He showed me how to use the full body massage chair and hydro massage table, which, both by the way, are great for after my workout. It did wonders. Thank you, Israel, for your dedication on making the customer experience a great one. God Bless you. I give Israel 5 stars

CEALING IS FALLING APART, always leaking from one place to another. Also, baseboards along the wall are also pealing off. So many of these reviews are false. When they do fix a machine, it's after a couple of months. Don't get me started with the bathroom/locker room. In the men's, so many lockers are beat up, that you can't even put a lock on it and in the restroom, you have urinals leaking and a rotting/rusted faucet.

i’ve tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt but every time i’m just left disappointed. this place is severely neglected with so many machines here broken with no signs a good 60% of the machines i plan to use are broken or are missing pieces that are crucial for adjustment. the facilities is in dire need of an update, why are parts of the wall missing and always leaking on rainy days? this seems quite hazardous. to make matters worse it seems that hardly anyone here has gym etiquette, they do not wipe down the machines after every use. you’re better off wiping before and after !!! staff members don’t seem to care and just walk by. these are just a few of the broken machines

WOW, just WOW! I am beyond impressed with my experience at Planet Fitness, and it's all thanks to the amazing Martin! I had been considering other gyms in the area, but the high-pressure sales tactics had left a bad taste in my mouth. That all changed when I walked into Planet Fitness and met Martin.

From the moment I walked in, Martin was super welcoming and friendly. He took the time to explain everything about the gym, from the equipment to the amenities, and answered all my questions without making me feel rushed or pressured. The low-pressure sales approach was a breath of fresh air, and I appreciated that Martin wasn't trying to push me into signing up on the spot.

This is one of the worst gyms I’ve ever been to. It’s dirty, poorly maintained, and most of the machines are either broken or in terrible condition. There are never enough weights available, and when you do find some, they’re all over the place because no one puts them back. The whole place feels neglected, and it’s obvious they don’t care about keeping it clean or fixing the equipment. Definitely not worth the membership here. Being a member at this gym for a while... In the last 3 weeks there is barely any heat in the gym... it's actually warmer outside than it is in the gym not to mention inoperable equipment for 5 or 6 months at a time.. very unprofessional.. Basically they pick and choose who can wear crocs inside and who can’t. This gym does not allow black card members from out of state to tan at their location. I filed a complaint with corporate. We'll see what they say. They don't allow you to fill out the waiver here in Store so if you're home state does not have the waiver law then you are basically not gonna be able to tan here. Seems like they make up their own rules & Don't follow corporate policy.. sounds like a lawsuit at some point considering I pay to be able to tan any location!

Kim "the manager" is super rude and gets off on ruining your day. I am visiting from Ohio and have been to 25 different Planet fitnesses and never had an issue tanning at any of them. I go to this one and they want to see some waiver that I've signed and I tell them I don't know what they're talking about but to give me the form and I will sign it and they say they can't give me the form it has has to be already signed at my home location all the way in Ohio.. so I called Ohio and they said they don't have the form because there is no form to sign in Ohio. Since it's an Illinois law, I turned to the lady and asked her to give me the form and I will gladly fill it out and she says she can't legally give it to me, which has to be a lie. She was just being a lazy and her excitement level was off the chain as I got angry. Terrible human being. If they're not gonna follow Planet Fitness rules, they shouldn't be allowed to be a Planet Fitness. How do they get away with this when I pay to be able to tan at any location in the us?

The roof has been leaking for about two years and it hasn't been fixed, I complained to the staff but it has not been resolved so hopefully the owner or manager will see this. If anyone slips on the spot where the bucket is or kicks it over and makes some one else get hurt you're going to be spending more money on a lawsuit than what it's worth to fix the leak. Over the course of two weeks it's been very warm inside of the gym! They need to adjust the air conditioning when warmer- weather arises. I could barely finish my workout I felt so uncomfortable. Staff is cool and they stay on top of housekeeping. Gym members dont follow simple rules. They have a sign posted no jeans, no crocs, no gym bags on the floor etc. Not a surprise you you see it right away. Gym members with no gym etiquette. Working out right in front of the weights, bags on the floor, cant throw out their trash. Thats why pf always gets a bad rep. Do better

I go to the gym a lot I would consider myself a more advanced trainer but I always recommend planet fitness over any other gym for people looking to workout. Cleanest gyms in the city by far, the staff is always welcoming and they do a really good job of just overall capturing that everybody’s welcome no intimidation vibe. I’ve been to many gyms and although other gyms may offer more in terms of machines or amenities none of them feel as welcoming. I’ll always come back to planet fitness I consider it my roots and how I got started.

This gym is really in bad conditions for some time now, there is paper towels all over the floor, sometimes there are not paper towels on the stations, its always leaking water of the ceiling and u see buckets all over the floor or water on floor, the bathrooms are always dirty, the water fountain sometimes they drag to change filter, machines are dirty or broken down, i think this specific gym needs some inspection if they are not going to fix it, its really cold to work out how u suppose to work out in this conditions. 🤢🤮

This is the Back of the Yards gym. I really enjoyed this fitness center. It is clean, many treadmills and very nice staff. I highly recommend!

Se podría mejorar, la verdad hay varias cosas mal,
No hay papel para limpiar las máquinas después de usarlas, no hay atomizadores con líquido
Y el personal (no todos ) se la pasa en el teléfono
Los baños muy mal la verdad

Este gym es para gente que pierde su tiempo aparte de ser un desastre no hay maquinas buenas para entrenar es una pena que un gym de planet fitness esté en tan mal estado no hay maquinas suficiente solo hay 4 para hacer piernas y eso se llena no hay más maquinas
