I have a black card membership which costs more money than the standard membership. The gym has been under construction for a few months and during this time the black card member services are not available. However the gym continues to charge me for black card membership.

Poor management.

Paper towels were not stocked the other day so people aren't cleaning machines after getting all sweaty on them.

Gym is over charging me per our contract. Due to an issue with their system. The manager Fernando refused to refund the money the over charged me. UNETHICAL BUSINESS

Was in there the other day and all the paper towels to dry off disinfectant were empty. So people were not cleaning off machines. Was gross. Staff were sitting on their phones and not doing therir jobs. Poor management!

Also the manager Fernando provides poor customer services. He over charged me on gym membership and refused to refund me the money. I asked him to downgrade my membership and it is over 30 days later and still has not. He will not refund me the money either. BEWARE OF THEM SCAMMING YOU TOO!

Also they are charging me for services they are not providing. I got the black card membership for the massage chairs and therapy machines. But they are not available for a few months while gym is under construction. Unethical to charge someone for services you are not providing.

Review written 8/16/2025. They do not have the hydromassage at this location, just as a heads up. They only have regular massage chairs but no hydromassage machines.

This location is in process of getting new workout equipment so hopefully this location will be more updated soon because there is some rust in the locker room and I saw a broken locker (see photo)
Also the treadmill I used did not have a built in fan on it to cool down like some other planet fitness locations

But they are in process of updating this location so maybe things will upgrade

On weekdays later in the evening, around 8 pm, no one is behind the desk. On multiple occasions i’ve needed to buy a drink or use the massage chairs and no one has been there to help me. I don’t come in on the weekends but the weekday workers are constantly on their phones. The gym is dusty and smells bad. My husband said the men’s locker room is disgusting. Worst planet fitness in the area. I will be transferring to Mount Prospect.

Im usually pretty anti social, but they are just so kind with their greetings/acknowledgement. They try to catch you the best they can to wish you a beautiful day.
This is the location I drive the extra distance despite there being about 4-5 other planet fitnesses around me.

The music they play here is HORRIBLE they play the same five minute long rap songs over and over every time. In the reviews they suggest using rockBot but when I use it all the songs I request get skipped and sometimes they entirely block the artist. The employees only allow the abnoxious rap songs they play themselves, not the PAYING customers. There’s no point of them having Rockbot if their gonna block everything people request. If this continues to happen you best believe it will be going to corporate.

i'm in over the road truck driver who travels aeound ..I always appreciate having a place to work out. But this place is meant more for the locals that don't shower here really.
I guess I'm spoiled with the other planet fitnesses who have mats on the floor when you get out of the shower So you don't slip. ; they have a mirror in the room that you're changing in and more hooks to hang your clothes on.
The coin massage chairs are outdated compared to other planet fitnesses..
The staff is friendly but the one young kid when I was explaining about the massage chairs acted like he really couldn't care less but at least he smiled through the whole thing lol..

Horrible experience at this location thanks to an employee named oscar. Was told after coming here 75 times that it's not his job to sign me in. Meanwhile the gym floor is disgusting none of the machines are ever clean and the bathroom has piss all over the floor.. It's not my favorite gym, but it's clean, organized, and the staff is very attentive. Get a Black membership and bring a friend. I just heard that they have an infra-red light bed, so I'll definitely be going back to take that baby for a spin. Highly recommended!

I have been visiting this place for over a year. Today, I wanted to renew my membership for one more year, and I was told no, we don't have one year of promotion, I don't want promotion i just want to pay in full. Basicaly, I just don't want to leave my card info to a planet fitness server that was hacked twice for automatic billing. They refused, so disappointing. The planet fitness in Palatine, IL, had no problem with that, so I will be changing fitness locations.

I spoke to a staff member as you suggested, and he said I have to live my card number info to be billed monthly exactly the thing I want to avoid.
I still don't understand why I a returning customer can't pay in full for a year at regular price.
You can't protect your servers, so why not offer that option .🤔

Des Plaines on Golf is a disappointing location... Doesn't have all the amenities. The first bike I went to kept turning off. I asked if they knew that this bike didn't work and they knew exactly what I was talking about which means they just watched me use a broken bike for a long time. They said yes, they knew. The particular bike had a QR code that the app said this equipment is no longer supported. Old?? Different staff than when I went last time, not very good vibes tonight while interacting multiple times.

This is the second time I’ve been in this facility and both times the staff were rude. The first staff member kept his AirPods on while I was speaking with him. He kept saying “What “ and “Huh”. The second time, the guy was playing poker instead of listening. I was told the manager was running late. After working out, I went back to the front desk to ask a question that the previous staff couldn’t answer and was told the manager was at dollar tree. Won’t come here again. I only came here because my membership allows me to go to many different gyms besides my home gym (Lifetime). Won’t be coming back to this location ever.

I went there as a guest last night, the staff up front were awful rude. Not sure what happened but a staff member by name Ariel was talking to a customer resulting in making her cry! I overheard some detail's that should have been said in private and he was saying it in front is his coworkers and people passing by.

Hopefully managent educates their employes about not talking to customers about their customers personal matter's among other people in the gym.

That was very unprofessional. Me and my friends were shocked about this employee. Even after they left they still went on a bd kept talking and laughing about the couples situation.

I hope they make some change and also discipline that employee that cause problems in among multiple people and the staff up front.

What kind of a gym does not have bench press ? I’m very disappointed by the setup. Vasa gym spoiled me I guess but I had to cancel my membership($68 fee) after I figured that out so if you’re going there for lifting and all this is not the gym for you so save yourself $68 and don’t sign up here.

If you compare this planet fitness with other planet fitnesses this one so cheap. Urgently the manager have to change the tools bec of quality of so fair. Huge disappointment. I have upgraded my membership and was promised downgrade at no cost if I won't be satisfied with black membership. And I am..Equipment not working months, few staff members rude and unprofessional.

If you are thinking about joining this location, run the other way. I was walking on the treadmill when I got a call from my mother I picked up the phone and held it up to my ear and had a a queit conversation with my mother. A 20-something front desk clerk, actually got on the treadmill next to me and smugly told me that there were no personal calls allowed anywhere in the gym, including the locker room. She proceeded to tell me that I had to go outside to make calls!!! In January!!!? I think not! Needless to say that was my last day at that gym

I left planet fitness permanently, even though the club is clinically clean, the staff are condescending and rude. I take conference calls for work in the morning. Workers like to humiliate their patrons and chase them around the gym, scold them and demand for them to get off the phone, as if we were small children that needed to be punished .Wait a minute, I thought , I was the customer here. But the culture starts at the top. No thanks, I enjoy being treated with courtesy and respect at a different gym.

I came here over the weekend and met a nice young man Lukman who gave me the pleasure to come back to sign up. I walked in 5mn ago this curly hair girl sucked into a computer screen who doesn't acknowledge anyone even the people that come to workout. When I asked if Lukman was there, she got angry and asked me if there is a problem with bad attitude. If this review gets to upper management "watch your surveillance cams.
Now I am going to LA Fitness because of this. I trained at both health clubs never been treated this way. It seems that this place is run by kids. Not recommended!
