Love Planet Fitness. Lots of equipment and if something needs repair, you don't have to wait months to get it fixed. Very clean facility and friendly front desk employees. My only gripe is the 30 minute circuit workout. I love using it and I follow the instructions. However other members come in and use machines which are on the floor elsewhere and jump in and use the machines I need to finish the rotation, so I stand around waiting for one machine (it's usually the last one #20). very frustrating.
Update 10/8/25. Again I agree with my review above except fir one thing. All the televisions are NOT working at all. I don't know what the problem is, but, I don't really need them, however it makes time go faster when you are on the bikes, the treadmills or stairs. Also no internet connection (which could be the tv problem too). I know this is petty, but please fix whatever the problem is.
New equipment has been added with a floor sticker by the machines stating "New Equipment". What a great idea!!

For this location to be in Downers Grove it’s very ratchet. Broken equipment if you want to use the fly machine good luck pick a number like your at the Deli. Very small inside area machine are all clumped up next to each other. Don’t get me started on the parking lot it’s like driving in the middle of Chicago big potholes all throughout parking lot very ghetto.

The gym is fine, as I've been coming here for about 2.5 years now, mostly after 6pm. My low rating comes from the outside. For almost a week now, the lights in the parking lot have been off, even at night. I was almost run over one night as someone was turning into the parking lot to park. With this issue, plus the amount of potholes that there are in the parking lot, it is only a matter of time before serious injuries will occur.

I went in there yesterday...I got a membership for 15.00 a month. Which is perfect. I had this nice guy who had curly dark hair show me around. I'm sorry I forgot his name. He helped me with the whole process on how to get started on my phone and with the app. I love how it's not a huge gym. It's big enough. It has everything I'm interested in using. I love the purple equipment. My favorite color. I love that is close to my home and work. I love the casual relaxed setting it is. I can't wait to get started. I just need to get a couple things before I begin.

The music is Extremely Loud very unnecessary they refused to turn the music down after talking to management more than once the app that they have for music their employees sit on it in monopolize and put terrible music on while people in the health club are trying to put on their own music that are unable to because the young people working there should not be on their phones other health clubs in different locations don't allow their employees to be on their cell phones while they're working

I called 5 minutes ago to ask how crowded the place was but Devon answered the phone very snarky and I don’t appreciate that when I’m paying for a black card membership, then when I asked him how do I cancel my membership he said “ you have to either come in, or do it online through the website. I’ve gone to this location the most out of other locations. I typically go late at night. Every time I’ve been here, the staff is incredibly kind and helpful. The locker room smelled amazing and fresh and I noticed an employee named Jonathan cleaning who was gracious when I told him it smelled great. You can tell this location certainly cares about their members and guests equally. Jen was very sweet and took the time to answer my questions. There was a man outside whose car broke down and she was willing to give him a hand too if need be. I haven’t ever been to a gym in 17 years where the employees cared this much about their customers. I felt less like a customer and more like I belonged there. That’s the way fitness should be—accessible for all. Nothing but good people here. Thank you Jen and Jonathan for being inclusive and welcoming and making Planet a reputable brand.

Great manager, Q! I lost my earbud under a treadmill but didn't see where it went. Q went above and beyond, helping me find it, lifting and moving machines until it was found. I have often seen Q taking care of things, helping people in a variety of ways and just being pleasant and available at all times. I am glad I moved gyms!!

I called on to inquire about fitness and the lady that picked up the phone was very rude and unprofessional. She put me on hold and I could hear her communicating with customer and saying “this customer on the phone is asking ridiculous questions “ and when she came back she was pushing me to download the app and later hanged up the calls.

My son and I love going to this gym, the atmosphere is clean and not too crowded. Everything you need for a decent workout is here without the cam girls and gym rats. Devin, Hannah and Sharayea are always friendly and attentive to our needs and if they ever leave we will strike. If you want to work out without "distractions," you can't pick a better price for a gym membership.

This review is not on the employees at this location but on the corpate management of planet fitness. It was my first time since buying my membership. I went to tan and before I started I checked out the other beds they had. My session started in my booth before I got back. No problem right? I went back up front and asked the attendant to restart it. However, the attendant said he couldn't because the illinois law of one session per 24 hours. This is true but every tanning salon in the state, I've been to, has the ability to restart a machine, since they trust and empower their employees to make the simple judgment call of whether the person has tanned or not. Planet fitness has built their systems anticipating their employees are not competent enough to make simple judgment calls of like this. Ridgid systems like this point to a company that has zero trust in their staff and leads to bad customer service experience like I had today.

Compared to the Woodridge PF branch, this one doesn't offer as much space and the Smith machine/dumbbell sections are more limited.

But it is much cleaner overall, quieter/chill in general, and the tanning area is usually immaculate.

Still on the fence in re: to which one is better, guess it depends on your mood? But giving this location the edge due to overall cleanliness & atmosphere.

I will never understand why PF insists on having so much cardio equipment that every single member could be there at the same time, all doing cardio, and still there would be some treadmills/ellipticals free- meanwhile there are like 5 workout benches and 5 chest presses that everyone has to fight over. Pretty much every time I go, there's a swarm of people around the bench presses and workout benches waiting for a bench to clear up, meanwhile only like 20% of the cardio machines are being used. PF seriously needs to get rid of some of the cardio machines to make room for more workout benches and chest presses.

Place is a dump . There is always trash all over the parking lot and the bathrooms are usually nasty. Several clips are missing for the weight machines ...that have been missing for a long time ...and they have not replaced. The Wi-Fi has been broken forever but they choose not to fix the wi-fi or remove the Wi-Fi. Therefore your phone's cell signal gets jammed up often times and it prevents you from using the internet or listening to music or whatever. For a facility that's two or three years old...it's really in pathetic shape.Quite

I've been going to this location for a few years now. When it opened it was just like any other PF: clean, well-staffed, a good variety of equipment. Then it started to fall apart. The showers were among the worst I've ever had to use--full of soap scum, mold, and with broken fixtures and sporadic hot water. I was really close to calling the health department. New management finally took over a couple of months ago (specifically a new morning crew that is OUTSTANDING) and it's once again like every other PF location. Worth every penny. Big thanks to the new staff for turning this place around!

I remember when this place first opened up and I would of transferred my members to instantly if they stayed open for 24/7. Paid for my first month and paid my $50 annual fee was told over the phone that I could down grade my membership. I had never went in once in person and when I went to down grade I was told I couldn’t even tho I had just gave them a $50 annual fee.” and was told over the phone that I can down grade! This Gym is as cheap as it is...Crowded, cheap equipment, constant shortage on soap ( you have to bring your own if you want to clean hands after workout ), Locker rooms smells like s...t ( maybe because the toilets are in the middle of it, and there is always someone who is taking a dump there ) . So far pretty good. Been going here since April. One issue though:

They are kinda 24 hours, but not on the weekend. They have a sign that says when they open and close, but sometimes the open and/or close says "24 hours" so you really have no idea what that means. If they open at 7am the following day then they have to close, but you have no idea when.

Basically they just need to be better about clearly communicating their hours. Again: otherwise this place is pretty good.

Surprised to see that the facility not opening on time is a continuing issue. Lots of folks choose Planet because of their hours and convenience, and lots of folks like to workout before commuting to work. Up until this last few weeks, I would’ve given this club four or maybe five stars, there have been a few Minor issues but over all it is big and clean and has what we need.. but first, the corporation decided to the high school kids in free, and all by itself was ridiculous, 14 year old kids playing with weights, it’s a recipe for disaster. But more importantly, the air conditioning went out sometime around the Fourth of July or slightly after as I write this it’s at least five days later and it’s still out, no extra fans and the people on the phone if you called to check don’t seem to know anything about when it’s going to be repaired.. If heating air conditioning people are massively busy I get it, I also get the it’s an inexpensive club, but really?

Started my membership here a week ago, came in this morning at 10:00am and the doors are locked, that's 3 hours after their listed morning start time in observance of covid mandates. As someone who is afraid of going to the gym for some reason, I really enjoyed my first experience here. I went at 7pm on a Friday night and the staff were nice and the place was pretty empty, I didn't know what I was expecting but everyone was just working out and minding their own business. Most were wearing masks some weren't. Place was clean and people did a good job cleaning after themselves. Took a shower afterwards and was worried it would be cold after reading reviews but it was fine, the faucet might be installed backwards though as I had to set it to cold for the water to get warm, but maybe I'm just an idiot...

Very bad experience with behind the counter employees and the manager of the gym. Completely unprofessionally in responding to my concerns on the overbilling that I was charged. I was advised to file a complaint on the website and then maybe I would get a refund. I visited the gym for resolution and received none but an hour later I received an email notification that my membership was cancelled. I did not cancel it. This all happened on 10/1 the very same day I was charged the $39 annual fee. I have left several messages with NO return phone call. I am now filing a compliant with the BBB. With so many positive gym options in DG, this is NOT on the list. I would like to hear from someone other than the manager for resolution.

I have left 11 messages since 10/7/2021 with not one return call from the manager. I was advised by the desk help on 12/14/21 that I was not going to receive a call back and my concerns were not going to be addressed. I am reporting this location to the BBB and to Planet Fitness Corporate. Completely unacceptable customer service. They stole $59 from me and basically have blown me off and told me I will not be getting a refund for their mishap in billing.

I show up shortly after the pf opens in the morning, and it's often still locked (at least 7 times for me over a few months). Signage about the state mask mandate does not mean members wear masks, most don't. Because it's takes so long to get warm water in the showers, they are seldom used, and they continue to not resolve the issue. The Woodridge location is run by an absolute jerk these days, so I don't want to go back there, and calling the locations and HQ to address the issues has gotten lengthy hold times and no resolutions. How did I give them two stars? They deserve only one star, but I do enjoy my workouts when I am able to get them in,...and the cleanliness has improved, though it's falling again.

I’ve been a PF member numerous times at other locations, this one just opened and is already a headache.

I tried to sign up (twice) in person. First time I went, I was greeted at the door and told they weren’t open yet, even though it said so online. They have zero “now open” signage, so I went by Google hours, which was wrong.

Today I went in to sign up only to wait five minutes for a worker to show up just to be directed to the mobile app, which I could have just downloaded from home. I enter all my info, including credit card, and the last page of the agreement they ask for them bank routing number.

I didn’t have my checkbook on me, because it’s 2021, so I went to the chase mobile app to pull it. Still had network errors on the app and it didn’t go through. It’s not a payment or card issue - and I really wish they could have just pulled my past membership info.

Eventually I just went home to log in. I got it working - but far too many steps just to get a lift in.

My favorite PF!! Super clean and staff is always cleaning. Front desk staff is friendly and the most professional of any area PF. Great, CLEAN tanning rooms and amenities.
My only concern is folks not wearing their masks, which is selfish and ignorant, but I understand the staff not getting involved due to the violence against employees nationwide that enforce mask mandates.

The gym is great their opener comes in when ever they feel like which is reflection on management not making sure the gym operating on time and efficient it’s very unprofessional that I have to travel 10 miles or more to work out

I LOVE the new location. The new machines are awesome. some of them even count the reps you are doing!. The staff are friendly and the place is immaculate!
Only concern is that the TVs do not have closed captioning on. I like to watch the tv with captions while I do cardio.
I have asked several times for this and it has still not been done.
Every other gym I have been to has them on all the time. This includes the other planet fitness centers.
I also believe that the ADA requires it.
Not at all trying to cause trouble. The place is near perfect but I hope the management does this. They are out of step with the other centers. Thank you.

Drove out of my way to work out. Doors locked. Lights on. Says open 24 hours. Thanks for listing on google that you're open so victims like me can start their day off right by driving to a place that's closed.
