I went to Lake Zurich on a Wednesday at around 5pm. The staff was very friendly and informative and there wasn't a lot of gym traffic. The machines were very clean and in great condition. Overall, this review goes to 11! I will definitely be using LZ as my HQ for workouts.

I have been to approximately 30 Plant Fitness locations throughout the Country and the staff at the Lake Zurich, IL club are the most attentive, accomodating, friendly and curtious that I have seen. Their team routinely replenishes towels and cleaning fluid and is just about continually making an effort to clean the equipment and restroom facilities. This location is top notch, keep up the outstanding work.

Today was an extremely sad day for me at Planet Fitness. My family and I are members. One of the main reasons we chose to go there was the circuit training room. I specifically asked if the room was truly dedicated as a circuit training room. I was assured that it was. After going a few times, I noticed that some people sit on the equipment and do not seem to care that others are trying to go through the full body circuit. And if you cannot do the whole body then it sort of defeats the purpose of the room. So I asked a manager one time what to do about it. He said when that happens then politely ask them to let you get your set in and then if no one else is in line then they can go back to their workout as long as everyone has passed. If they refused he said to let the staff know. That has worked pretty well the handful of times I asked people. Other than a few irritated looks they always respect what I am asking. I always ask nicely and explain what the green/red lights are for then they say they didn't know how the room worked. Well tonight I brought my younger son as a guest to get him more used to the equipment before signing him up. We were going through the circuit and at one of the stations there was a young woman who refused to move to the next station or at least let us get our turn. I informed her nicely that the rules on the sign say that people must move to the next station after the green light turns to red. I hope your cameras record audio also because you will hear her exact words. She said, "no one cares about the rules here" and "she doesn't have to worry about them." I am a grown man and did not want to argue with a young woman. It just wouldn't look right. So I went to the staff member on duty and explained what happened and asked if he can help us so we can do our workout. When he went over there her boyfriend walked over and stood by her side. The staff member told them that the rules are for everyone to proceed to the next station when the light changes. She told him she is not moving for us and that she doesn't have to go station to station because she wasn't there long enough to get her sets of leg presses done. It was something along those lines. He then looked at all of us and said we all need to leave the area. The only right thing to do here was for him to look at them and say to follow the rules or leave the area now. But instead my 13 year old son and I were punished for doing the right thing and asking for help. There were not two sides to this story. The staff member clearly heard them refuse his request and clearly saw that I was in no way in the wrong. My son was forced to see a situation where we were in the right and did the right thing by asking for help instead of arguing and in return we were punished for asking for help along with those who were actually in the wrong. He actually told us to leave the area also in order to not offend the people refusing to follow the rules. I almost wanted to cry that my son was learning this lesson. That lesson he learned is that doing the right thing gets you in trouble. He now learned that the only right way to handle a situation at Planet Fitness where you are counting on a workout but someone stops you, is to stop your workout and go home. Because the only reason you are there is for the circuit training stations and there is only one room for that. So you are at the mercy of whether other members feel like following the rules or not. Some nights you might get a full workout and other nights maybe not if people are sitting on the equipment refusing to move. And if you ask for help you will be treated the same as those who are literally refusing to follow the rules. Not a misunderstanding on another member's account, but literally refusing to follow the rules. I have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach as I write this because I still cannot believe Planet Fitness allowed this to happen. I could understand if there were two sides to the story. But this was cut and dry. It's all on camera. The staff member taught my son a horrible lesson.

Update: Yesterday, I got a survey from PF. I filled it out thinking nobody would pay any attention if anyone even read it. Well, today I got a call from the management at LZ PF asking some questions to follow up on the survey. I'm really impressed that someone listened and followed up. I already liked this location, but now I clearly see that customer service is one of their priorities.

The Lake Zurich PF staff is friendly. I almost always see someone cleaning which is important to me. There is an ab machine I see at most other PF locations that is not at this location, but they have a couple of other things, particularly in the back right area, that I don't see at other locations. I would like to see a clock in a more visible location. There is a big beautiful clock on the wall, but it is blocked from view by a multi station unit. I feel like my criticisms are pretty minor though since it's one machine and relocating a clock. There's tons of benches, bikes, tread mills, and machines. And, again, I frequently see the staff cleaning and inspecting so I'm pretty happy with this PF.

The best planet fitness gym in the area!!! Staff is very attentive. The short haired blond lady (sorry I didnt want to stare at your name tag 🤪) always has a smile and knows when to swoop in to help a coworker (she deserves whatever your employee recognition is). This place is always clean 😍😍 and has the high quality machines. Repairs are also done quickly as nothing ever seems to be broken. And the hydro massages have nice smooth coatings, not the thin plastic that is wrinkled and looks like your about to contract mega syphilis from all the shriveled crevices 🤮. Such a pleasure to visit, thank you management for a phenomenal job well done.

The best Planet Fitness location I've ever been to, and I've been to about 15-20. I have the black card, so I started driving a bit farther to go to this location about half the time I went to the gym. It's large and never feels cramped, even during weekday evenings. It's always clean and well staffed. Great employees. The locker rooms are a step above many other locations. I've just moved a bit farther away from this location, so I probably won't come here too much anymore... I hope my new location can come close to this one.
