I like the gym but honestly I wouldn't have the confidence or courage to go had I not taken one of Andy's (the trainer) classes one of my first check ins. I'm a 34 year old mom of two with degenerative disc disease who finally decided to take charge of her physical health. But the gym was crazy intimidating, not only because i'm out of shape but because of my spinal issues I couldn't just go in and do whatever, I'd risk really hurting myself. Andy has helped me every.step.of.the.way. Showing me how to do this safely, effectively and teaching me how to do things tailored to my bodies capabilities. He's so knowledgeable, encouraging, supportive and WILL give you that extra push to juuuust do oneee or two more when you think you can't! He truly is an asset, an invaluable member of this team 🖤

As far as the gym in general, it’s frustrating when people go in the 30min circuit who aren’t following the program, as well as people sitting on the machines on their phones for long periods of time. I waited almost 20 mins for 2 women to get off the leg extension machine because they were just sitting there on their phones. I’m thankful I found out about Andy because I don’t have to worry about that anymore. I just take his classes and get a much better workout than when I was on my own!

Not as clean as it seems. Dark floor and purple machines hide how dirty it truly is. Check out the yellow machines in the 30 minute area you'll see crack and crevices filled with dust and hair. Saw an employee vacuuming the floor with a hand vacuum. Just because you cant see the dirt/hair doesn't mean it's not there. Never seen an employee wipe down a machine. That crap in the spray bottle and brown paper isn't doing anything and half the time people working out don't wipe down the machines after using anyway.

It's OK. It's The only gym that's around in the area and because of that you have to time it correctly of when to go because it's always overcrowded and there's not enough machines or equipment for everyone to use. If they build a law fitness or lifetime in the area it will be much better for both because the foot traffic will be easier to get on things.

This is my regular location and the staff always says hi and bye and they do a great job of keeping it clean. I do wish they would do a better job of regulating the 30/30 room from people sitting on those machines for extended time but I love that they are always making sure the weights, kettlebells, and accessories are where they need to be.

Edit: 2 years later still going here. Still loving it. Sure it gets a lite busy sometimes but I've never had an issue with getting done what I need to get done in a timely manner. I have been to numerous gyms over my life and I went to planet fitness from a recommendation from a friend. The closest one to me is about a 30 minute drive so it really had to be worth it. Brittani at the front desk has to be one of the most helpful employees they have there. Whoever Galena was that wrote a bad review had to be doing something they should not have been doing and expected rules to be bent for them because Brittani has never been dismissive or rude at all. She greets everyone as they walk in, I cannot say much about others that work there, she helps find machines, she is up cleaning making sure the place is presentable, I have never had a better experience with anyone at other gyms. I am not the type of person to leave reviews so I felt it was necessary to give her the recognition she deserves. I definitely recommend this location. I have had nothing but positive experiences.

Honestly I like this gym, but them closing at 7pm every Saturday is so inconvenient and frustrating that I’m thinking of just quitting for another gym. Like, comon, not even 8 o’clock at least? That is not asking that much of your employees, that is not that late! I appreciate that they close late on the weekdays now, but sometimes the only time I have in the week is a Saturday evening. And I know I’m not the only one who feels this way, because when they closed at 7 this Sat, they had to kick out basically a full gym of people. Just bad business if you ask me.

Give us at least one more hour on Saturdays Planet Fitness, ideally 2, or I’m going to become a member of another gym. (I will update my review if they update their open hours)

I jus started going here & the staff are a super friendly group of people. I had a lot of (I’m sure) dumb questions about the lockers & massage chairs when I first start going here. They were always so honest & open with me. I don’t feel judged here at all. Also, the people who come to the gym seem very nice & nonjudgmental. I appreciate that because I’m slowly building my body back up after an injury. I high out recommend this location. Also, I always see the employees cleaning when I go so I know that it’s well kept. Good prices for memberships too 👍 if you get the black card, you can bring a guest, which has been helpful for me to stay motivated.

I like this PF. Very clean, and very friendly staff. The problem is the 30-min circuit. That is the only thing I come for. The staff does nothing to keep people out that don't belong in there. Even if they are told. Today was no different and when to the the person working out, they don't care. Since that small sign on the wall doesn't work, how about putting a large sign at the entrance saying, "circuit users only". If you care about everyone, you will do that.

I love this gym!!!! The staff is always friendly and has a smile. I love that this gym has huge fans that provide just enough air to feel comfortable while working out. Very clean atmosphere and I love the black card membership. The massage beds are amazing and well worth the $21.99 a month. Black card members also have access to tanning beds and total body enhancement beds. You can also bring a guest and can use any planet fitness. For me it’s exciting to go to this gym and I look forward to going every day. I especially love that its open 24/7! So if I have pent up energy I can go anytime even if its 3 am!

Signed up for the classic membership 2 months ago. Was told by Kylie that I can use any planet fitness in the area except the massage chairs, tanning, and cannot bring a friend unless I pay for the black card. I have been going to McHenry PF for a while now and a couple of times in Mundelein and was never stopped until today. Kylie said I have to cancel Mundelein PF and resign up and pay annual fee again to use McHenry PF and cannot allow me to work out as a courtesy today. It’s not my fault they don’t know how to do their job and I have to pay for their failures. I don’t recommend this gym. Will be signing up to LA Fitness where a member can travel to any of their gyms including Esporta, sign up for workout classes, and use all facilities (sauna, pool) including bring a friend to work out anytime.
