Changing my 5 star Review to 1
Men's locker and bathroom is closed. If its during a summer time its okay but in this cold weather where do you want us to change? Oh right in a nasty portal bathroom that is not clean and you have to go outside in this cold weather after sweating which you'll end up catching cold.
I am considering leaving this gym and canceling my membership since I can not afford to come. No bathroom or changing rooms especially in this freezing weather what kind of facility is this!
I want to add a note staff are pleasant though 🙂 they are great but I can imagine locking the changing rooms in a freezing weather...... 🥶
You should do a temporary change in woman's locker at the moment to split the area between men and women while at least finishing a construction that has been taking forever and actually I rarely see construction people working on it
It would be much appreciated if these notes are addressed especially considering the cold weather

Changing it to a 1, less convenient weekend hours but 3+ months of under construction? C'mon man! Get it together. Sections have been closed off for months, no water fountain to refill water or functining bathrooms. Deplorable!

And please, for the people that workout here, enough with the Mr. Vain selfies on the Google's review page. It's nausesting!!! It's not that type of gym, and supposed to be friendly atmosphere for all levels of experience. You want to track your progess, get an Instagram page and go all out gramps!

Update:

This location has finally been undergoing some much-needed renovation. Problem is, the renovation is taking forever! About 3 or 4 months ago, they had a temporary front desk and the black club spa part of the club cordoned off. 2 months ago they stopped allowing use of the men's bathroom, with a porta potty outside. The men's locker room has been off-limits since.

Now that it's getting cold, where are you supposed to change out of your wet and sweaty clothes before you go back outside in 30° weather?

The woman's locker room is still open, yet you can't even provide an area to change for the men?

You should have closed the club for a month and taking care of it quickly, or instead of trying to remodel the whole club at once, taking care of the locker room, then moved on to the other portions of the renovation...

You are still charging full price for my membership every month, yet I cat use the facilities I and other members are paying for...

I believe a refund is in order!

And since the club is already ripped apart, PLEASE fix the HVAC system! Dehumidifying and filtering the air, especially during the winter months to keep it from smelling musty and fogging the windows up would be great!

This facility needs some maintenance!

I have been coming to this location for years, but things things keep breaking or needing attention. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is fog on the windows and the musty smell in the air. Fixing/repairing to HVAC to take the humidity out of here would correct this. Why should there be water running down the windows and my glasses fog up instantly when I walk in on a 40° day.

Secondly, a lot of the equipment needs some attention as well. Some of the machines that have resistance settings, like ellipticals or exercise bikes, a very inconsistent from one machine to the next. Additionally there are machines that will be going along at your desired resistance level, then it will drop away for a few minutes, only to return with full force a few minutes later after u have increased the exercise level almost stopping you in your tracks!

Third thing that is annoying about this facility in particular, is that half of the televisions are on the same station... I don't know why I need to look at six televisions in a row and there are only two channels between them. None of the sound works on any of them for the most part, so I guess it's a moot point anyway.

I have repeatedly expressed my concerns to employees working here, but nothing ever seems to get fixed. I don't know if management doesn't feel the need to address it, or the message is not getting relayed to them... Hopefully this message will help!

Update: Thank you for the reply. It would be great to know what, if anything, is going to be done to fix these issues and "improve the experience".

They need to open the bathrooms and locker rooms. This is absolutely ridiculous going to a gym and they shut down the bathrooms and locker rooms completely. My son had to go to the bathroom and needed to change into his workout attire and you couldn’t accommodate any of that! Absolutely uncalled for and very uncomfortable changing in a car. Right now, location is going through some major construction. Not only is this a distraction while they're drilling and fixing up the place, BUT they have no water fountain. But of course, you can pay for it though 😑 Also some areas could be cut off, so it's not really convenient at the moment. However, while the location itself is OK and they keep the place and machines clean, I do not know why they keep it so cold in there. It really can have an effect on the workout because there are times where I do not feel warmed up enough. Please consider turning up the temperature a notch or two.

Sergio and Alejandro are super cool and awesome, they make me feel welcomed and I love greeting them and having conversations with them. The gym has a good variety of equipment, and is maintained by the two every time I come in. All around great experience and it makes me excited to come in.

It's convenient for my schedule that this Planet Fitness has extended hours, compared to some of their other locations with limited hours. Also, they have improved this location, with a few updates and some new equipment as well. The night staff, Sergio & Nick are always friendly and attentive to the members. Sergio was very helpful recently when he noticed I had a flat tire and I had to replace it with my spare tire. Sergio made sure my spare was installed properly and I was able to leave safely that night. Very much appreciated after a very long day! Sergio went above and beyond!

Ever since the Planet Fitness in Oak Lawn got rid of the unconstitutional COVID vaccine mandate to show you've been vaccinated, it's been a bit better here. Instead of flashing your Vax card to allow in the building to work out, now we have issues with the teens in the summer getting gym passes for free and stealing personal items out of the lockers. 24/7 security should be in the locker rooms if they decide to give out free passes.

Keep your stuff in your vehicles if you're working out.

Staff is friendly, most machines work, tanning beds are nice too.

The gym is clean, just again beware of the crime in the locker rooms.

I have been a member at this location for several years now. I have two complaints...The women's bathroom can be kept a bit cleaner and the gym is sometimes to hot...Management should check the weather daily and regulate the heat accordingly. You can't enjoy your workout when the location is to hot. Overall, this location is not to bad. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

This location is both convenient and the hours are flexible for my schedule. The problem is that the recumbent bikes all need to be fixed. I visited this location for a day pass because I was thinking of switching from the Chatham location to this one. Turns out members have to pay $5 for a daily pass. I don't see the point of paying a fee on top of my membership so I asked to look around. The desk attendant made me sign in before walking around. What would signing in do exactly? What is the point of that? Not bothering with this location.

Planet Fitness is a terrible and corrupt place to work out. I went to work out here as a guest a couple of times and I will never return. The place smells of mold and nasty odors, the ceiling has literal mold growing in it. This place is a safety hazard I’m surprised someone hasn’t gotten sick yet. The staff do nothing to help you, all they do is sit down and are on their phones. The bathrooms are outdated and are always dirty I spoke to other members and they said upper management doesn’t care. Someone by the name Rachel manages the club I heard and I’ve been told she has made no regards to change anything or fix any issues. For a name brand gym I expect better.

Had an issue with a male member during a visit. Brought it to the managements attention after having to confront this person. Nick, the manager, did not take the time to listen to exactly what happened. Instead he hurriedly let me know he had my number and if he needed anything from me he'd reach out. I canceled my membership the next day. I felt extremely violated and unheard!! I am pursuing other counsel.

Worst planet fitness that I've ever been to.

On Friday, 5/26 I went to this gym while in town visiting my grandma. When leaving the gym, I tried to purchase 3 drinks with the card I have on file. I was told that I couldn't use the onfile card because this wasn't my home gym... confused, I pushed the drinks into a nice little triangle towards the employee (Ivan) and said "I guess I'll just let you put these back then", and I left.

Then today, 5/29, I went to the gym again. I asked for a Barbell cushion and was told I needed to leave something of value as collateral. I was told that people keep stealing the cushions and i said "well thats not my fault. All I have is my phone and water bottle, so I'll leave my bottle". I go do my sets using the cushion, I return the cushion, and am told I'm banned from that location.

I asked to speak to the manager (Noemi) and she tells me she didn't watch the security footage and that she was told I swore, yelled, and threw drinks at her employees.

I was almost in tears because I would never mistreat any employee like that. I may have been slightly annoyed because of the continued inconveniences, but nothing I did or said warranted this banning. I feel so targeted and confused.... I'm hoping corporate can show me the videos or at least review them on their own.

Don't go to this location, it's dirty small anyways. Weights never put back, only 3 squat racks, and the staff is so rude.
