If all gyms were like Quads, we would have a much fitter and happier country. An incredible training facility (for anyone! Not just bodybuilders!) filled with friendly members and an incredibly welcoming and gracious staff. I dropped in from out of town and by the time I left I felt like I had been a member there for years. I've dropped in to 4 other gyms in the area but my goodness not a single one compares. The membership prices are also better than most big city gyms. After my workout, I sat and ate my lunch and conversed with other members working out nearby. This place has the ability to change lives. I can't wait to come back!

This is a great gym for people serious about fitness and bodybuilding. Amazing staff from the front desk to the trainers like Daniel Taylor and Rob Hirsch. Iโve been going here for over a decade. I wasnโt sure how things would go after Dave the owner passed but I can see that worry was unfounded. โค๏ธ

This gym has everything โ an incredible range of equipment, from classic free weights to specialized machines that you wonโt find anywhere else. Itโs spacious, well-organized, and clearly designed with real lifters in mind. Whether youโre into bodybuilding, powerlifting, or just working to improve your strength, Quads provides the perfect environment to push yourself. The energy is motivating, and you can feel the history and dedication that have made this place a cornerstone of the local fitness community for decades.
What really sets Quads Gym apart is its no-nonsense atmosphere and supportive community. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, always willing to help with tips or spot a lift when needed. The members range from elite athletes to everyday fitness enthusiasts, and everyone shares the same respect and drive. Itโs a place where hard work is valued and progress is celebrated. The combination of old-school grit and modern equipment makes Quads more than just a gym โ itโs a Chicago institution that continues to inspire generations of lifters.

Dropped $13 on a day pass at Quads Gym, hoping for a solid lift, but left feeling underwhelmed. The place is packed tighter than the Red Line during rush hourโmachines crammed so close you're practically spotting strangers by default. While they boast a vast array of equipment, much of it feels like relics from the '80s, and not in a charming, retro way. The locker rooms? Let's just say I've seen cleaner facilities at Wrigley Field after a doubleheader. No soap, no towels, and a lingering funk that makes you question your life choices. If you're into that old-school, no-frills vibe and don't mind the grime, this might be your scene. But for me, it's a one-and-done.โ

I almost feel silly writing this review. I understand some people donโt understand how historic Quads isโฆ.however if you need to come to the reviews to see if this is a good gym, then unfortunately you donโt know how legendary this gym is.
Any less than 5 star review - ignore it! This gym has EVERY piece of equipment you can think of, and even then some. Equipment you didnโt even know existed (and you could have been already bodybuilding for 10+ yearsโฆ.) itโs clean, everyone is awesome, Cameron is an amazing trainer!
I miss living in Chicago and hitting quads everyday..RIP to the legend Dave! Miss you man! ๐ช๐ผ๐

I love seeing a familiar face at the front check in! Locker rooms are so clean, many open lockers for use, and water stations on both floors! Multiple sets of free weights, they never seem to be missing! So many machines! Yes they have what youโre looking for, you just have to know where to look! I recommend getting a tour when signing up, I declined and am still finding new features 2 yrs into my membership. I love that I can purchase different types of memberships (daily, monthly, punch card). My quarterly schedule changes dramatically!

This gym is awesome for bodybuilding or weightlifting enthusiasts. It is a massive space, 2.5 large floors, with smaller rooms for posing, stretching, and a small but adequate boxing studio, too. There's also a wide variety of equipment to appeal to all comers regardless of their level of fitness or individual goals, as well as dozens of cardio machines.
There is almost too much equipment, at least a half dozen racks of dumbells, free weights and plates of different sizes by dozens of manufacturers as well as machines, including a full set of old school original Nautilus equipment, which was really cool to workout on. A lot of it is outdated but in great condition and serviceable.
The gym could possibly be a little cleaner, the layout could be a little better organized, but in my opinion it only adds to the atmosphere (the gym has a lot of history and is well known in the bodybuilding community) which is otherwise friendly and welcoming, but serious about old school bodybuilding and weightlifting.

Review of Quads after being a member for 1 year:
Pros: friendly staff, positive atmosphere for all bodies, never excessively crowded, great upfront rates (especially for two)
Cons: layout is an odd maze of "stuff" everywhere, passive aggressive signs about no bags allowed on the gym floor but not enforced. Men's locker room is pretty gross, 50% chance there is soap to wash your hands and 15% chance there are paper towels, smells like a sewer. Yes, it's a gym, it's not going to smell like a bakery or flower shop, but for some of their clientele it's their "thing" to not shower regularly and hygiene is disgusting. Odors were so bad gym had to put signs up about the issue.

Amazing gym. Everyone has already said that there is anything you could ever need from a weight lifting standpoint. However, I'd like to also add that the treadmills are awesome. Very well maintained with very nice soft tracks to run on. Probably the best treadmills I've found at a gym ever, even though they are not necessarily brand new. Also very clean given the size of the gym and how many people are there over the course of a day. I'd probably put this up there as one of the pound for pound best gyms in the whole country.

Probably the best gym in all of Chicago. The front desk is incredibly nice and the equipment is world class - can't find most of what they have anywhere else. Any piece of fitness equipment you could possibly be looking for is at Quads. The gym is clean and the equipment well maintained. The staff is friendly and void of the attitude you encounter at other gyms.. Flexible membership plans range from daily to yearly with discounts available to those who work for the police or fire departments, students, seniors, partners, and spouses. No intimidation or pressure to purchase anything more or "extra."
This place is a gym and an institution laminated by the photos that cover the walls of the great men and women bodybuilders and fitness icons that have worked out at Quads over the years.

I always believed in belonging to a gym that is convenient to keep the excuses to a minimum. After two years of belonging to a nearby gym, I gave Quads a try. The atmosphere and equipment have the golden era vibe and not just the quantity of equipment but the quality is top tier.
We are all used to using machines that donโt fit our anatomy and sticking to free weights or cables to isolate a muscle group but Quads has about 10 unique machines for each body part. Lifting can be monotonous at times but with the amount of options here, variety wonโt be starved.
I pass three gyms on my walk to this gym and itโs worth every step getting here after work.

I've been coming to Quads for two years now and it's by far the best gym I've ever had a membership with. The equipment selection, the community, the history displayed on the wallsโthere's really nothing else like it.

This is not a health club. This is an old school lifting gym with every imaginable piece of lifting equipment. So the experience might not be for everyone. There are no contracts, automatic billing, or overbearing membership salespeople. You pay your monthly, it runs out, abd you pay again. There's the option to save a little money by paying for blocks of 6 or 12 months up front, but nobody there will ever pressure you into those options.
This is a great environment with friendly laid back patrons, and staff.

I was in downtown Chicago for a work trip, and needed to find a place to lift. This gym met my needs exactly. The day pass was zero hassle with no "free trial" to cancel.
The people were friendly, and it had more equipment than I have seen anywhere else. The walls were lined with photos signed by people who have worked out there. No radio, it's bring-your-own-music. They also sold food for post-workout.

Dave is a great guy, he's incredibly easy to speak to. The sign up is a smooth and quick process that doesn't include arduous cancellation processes like other gyms.
What's really important about this place though is the culture that resides here. It is THE BEST gym I have ever been to. If you want to seriously get in shape and be surrounded by others who want to do so as well, this is your first and last destination. You're surrounded by others who friendly, serious about working out, and have very good gym etiquette. Nobody leaves weights laying on the floor, everything is put back into place, bars are stripped and everyone washes their station down after usage. This sounds like a minor gripe, but I've been to gyms where people think it's OK to just leave stuff around - this isn't the case at Quads.
There's MORE EQUIPMENT then you can ever possibly imagine - seriously, Dave is basically an Iron Porter and has new machines developed to push you coming in on what feels like a weekly basis. You're never going to find yourself waiting for machines. Each floor is packed wall to wall with tools to improve and use. This includes cardio and strength training.
On top of it, you've got history on every wall from over the decades of the great power lifters and bodybuilders who have utilized Quads Gym throughout their careers. Huge motivation to leave the locker room and see photos of Arnold and Ed Coan pressing real weight.
I know this is a long read but if you're considering it at this point, stop by and just see for yourself. Dave has truly built a special place that will be a real destination for a long long time.

Donโt let the neighborhood locals fool you, the gym needs to update/replace MOST of the equipment. The upside is that this is one of the only places that has a Versaclimber.

Quads Gym is amazing. I recently joined in late June of 2020 and I'm so glad that I did. I have an existing membership at XSport down the street but I don't plan on going back. Quads has a ton of equipment and a great old school vibe. It's a true bodybuilding gym and a refreshing change from a commercial gym. The owner, staff, and members are friendly and people are there to actually workout.
If you are looking for a pool, sauna, spa, classes, yoga, or a backdrop for your IG posts this is not the gym for you. Please stay at Xsport, LAF, Planet Fitness and CAC. If on the other hand, you want a lifting gym with a ton of machines (even ones you never heard of) NOTHING beats this place. lastly, this is the only gym I've ever been to that actually plays good music. Something different in each area and it's NOT loud which is great.

Tons and tons of equipment. Lots of classic bodybuilding equipment that they don't even make anymore. I didn't know where to start first! It was like a wonderland for a gym rat!!

Moved to Chicago recently and knew right away Quads was the gym for me. Good people, amazing selection of machines, and typically have no issue waiting for a machine to open up. They've also been great at following guidelines during Covid and I feel safe lifting here on a daily routine.

Honestly have been to a bunch of gyms and Quads is the best by far. The members there are very work ethic oriented. I never see someone just sitting at a machine on their phone not doing anything. I think they actually have rules against it. The place is huge and loaded with different equipmet. I have never waited to use anything there. If you actually want to lift and work out this place is awesome ๐.

I have been a member for about a month with my boyfriend so far. The availability of different machines is extensive and can hit every single body part and muscle group, including those that you didn't even know could be worked out (neck, soleus, etc.). Although higher prices than Xsport and Planet Fitness, the prices are fair for the quality and the service if you are looking for a gym to gain size and build muscle. The gym has been very COVID compliant and I feel safe working out here.

Quads offers exactly what it says it does--and better than most. Clientele is mostly serious bodybuilders who could use me as a toothpick, but everyone is very respectful--I've always felt welcome. Staff are friendly and the place has every machine you could ever want. If you're serious about strength training or bodybuilding, this is your spot. World-renowned lifters train here--I swear I saw Ed Coan there the other day!

There are many definitions of what it means to be "fit" and this gym leans more towards bodybuilding and powerlifting. This gym is excellent if you want an eclectic collection of weights, bars, machines, and other fitness equipment. The staff is friendly and other members stay out of the way of each other because they want to do what they came to do. If you know gym etiquette and don't do curls in the squat rack, you will have a great time here. They do have cardio machines. The facility is maintained well but it won't be as sterile looking as a higher end fitness club. If you have a weightlifting workout plan, this place will have everything you need. Pricing is fair and there are no BS fees.

Quads is a Chicago institution. If youโre looking for a gym that has the right feel and intensity Quads is your home gym. Iโve lifted all over Chicago and the world. In a worldwide field Quads stands alone. Itโs not just good for advanced lifters. Even the beginner looking to get in shape will find a home at Quads.

Was visiting from Minneapolis and found this place. Owner, staff, and members were all super welcoming and nice. The owner had even ordered Giordano's for everyone, for Christmas Eve. Will workout here, every time I'm in the city!
