We played there this past Saturday and the course was in amazing shape, especially for this time of year. What really stood out to us was the staff. Every single worker went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying our round. The clubhouse, the starter, the ranger, and everyone else were first class. This is a fantastic golf course. It has a vintage feel to it and well-kept greens and fairways. The rough is...well, just that, rough. Trees come into play if you are not in the fairway. It can be challenging but the holes are not very long. The bunkers are well-maintained but stay out of there. The bunkers have high walls. The greens play faster than normal, which is my favorite.

Afterwards, enjoy their delicious food and a cold beverage and enjoy the view on their beautiful patio. It is slightly pricey, and I wished they had veterans and first-responder rates, but it is a great golf course.

And if you're in the City of Chicago, take the train, call them with your ETA, and they will pick you up from the train station and take you back after your round. Sweet!!!

We recently celebrated our daughter’s wedding at Ravisloe Country Club, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment guests arrived at the elegant Spanish-style entrance, they were welcomed into a space full of charm, warmth, and timeless beauty.

One of our favorite parts of the celebration was the gorgeous courtyard cocktail hour. The atmosphere was relaxed and elegant, and guests couldn’t stop complimenting the setting—it was the perfect way to kick off the evening.

The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious—we received so many compliments throughout the night. Guests also really appreciated that the servers introduced themselves personally when they approached each table.

The entire reception flowed seamlessly, thanks in large part to our amazing day-of coordinator, Carmen. She was calm, organized, and incredibly kind—truly a joy to work with. RAVISLOE Country Club located in Homewood,IL is a beautiful special occasion venue. My first visit was very impressive with a medium sized courtyard & balconette for weddings & other photo ops. (Think Romeo & Juliet). I found the indoor dining accommodations size-able for approximately 200 guests with enough room to feel comfortably spaced out. The room was generous in size & Tuscan inspired with wooden beams throughout which was romantic & beautiful. The dance floor compared to the dining room area was considerably smaller but adequate enough in size for about 50 people to move about. The food was good with ample portions to satisfy an adult appetite. I found the venue clean, staff friendly & accommodating. The bar was stocked and met most venue standards with hard liquors, beers, wines & specialty drinks. I had a very good time at the wedding I attended & would promote Ravisloe Country Club as a respectable establishment within the Homewood, IL area. I cannot comment on the grounds as I did not spend time on them. Parking was easy and generous in size to accommodate a good sized crowd. This my unbiased & personal review of Ravisloe Country Club. Loved this course. Super cool layout and it’s in green shape. The range and practice area is actually way better than I was expecting as well. Course was in great shape, with only the normal scars of a public course (divots, etc). The carts were also a nice touch with bluetooth speakers and a good GPS map. It ended up being super fun getting paired up with a twosome, but despite me booking as a single, they wouldn’t let me out there by myself. I had called so apparently I somehow cheated their online booking system which doesn’t allow singles. Delayed me by 15-20 minutes and would have been good to know, but not a big deal.

Fantastic spot. The course is a nice mature traditional layout with loads of sand. If you're hitting it well you'll be rewarded, if you're off you'll be challenged. It's a fun course. Overall this is a very good course. You're playing an old school course where you see tight fairways and elevated greens with bunkers around it. It's very fun.

Sadly their prices have lost the plot. About two to three years ago a Twilight Weekend round was about $60-70 with a cart. Now it's $95 for a twilight weekend around a $100 during peak times. During the work week it's like $85 now for 18 holes and a cart. Their prices have skyrocketed along with the amount of tee time openings. I remember it was rare to see any tee times before 2-3pm on a Saturday when looking about 3-4 days out. Now there are plenty of tee times before twilight, and during the workweek I see plenty of open tee times an hour out. That used to never happened. Mind you, all these prices require you to pay upfront too.

Overall their prices are ridiculous, and sooner or later they either need to lower prices, or accept less golfers showing up since it's not worth $100+ during most of the time. In my view it's worth in the mid-$80s during peak time, $50-60 during twilight on a weekend.

I've played Ravisloe many times through out the years and generally have enjoyed the experience. We usually come with a group of 8 to 16 players from the city. We had an early tee time today so we could beat the hot weather which was forecasted. Today, I was very disappointed due to the fact there were no water stations throughout the course? There is usually one that is stationed at hole 14, but it was out of order, again! It has been that way for month's! I asked the person in the clubhouse regarding this he said it just went out yesterday?? Furthermore, the course was walking only, no carts due to storms from the weekend. I felt he couldn't have cared less about the issue! We pay good money to play here regularly, so I would have expected the golf course to have a plan in place for such issues. Instead I felt they ignored this fact. I usually speak very highly of Ravisloe to friends, today I really questioned the commitment of management to the players playing today. I'm not looking for any type of compensation here, just be a little bit more compassionate when issues like this arise. Thank you!

Severely overpriced. $110 with a cart on a Friday afternoon. Range balls not included. No water in the cart. GPS is horribly inaccurate. Greens were insanely slow and bumpy. Tee boxes overgrown and patchy. Fairways and rough are nice. Bunkers are ok, some inconsistencies in the amount of sand but nothing too drastic. The layout is interesting enough, the design is fun even for a very short course. There's too many blind tee shots for a one off round. Courses like this take a few rounds to figure out where to aim. I hacked the ball around for a 79 and could easily play much better a 2nd time. But there will never be a 2nd time unless the price is under $60 with a cart.

The greens are the most disappointing thing. For $110 I expect damn near immaculate greens. The issue is they are small and have too much undulation. If they rolled above a 9 most pin placements would be torture.

All the greens need to be replaced, it seems like they might be 60+ years old.

Last minute decision late Saturday night to play golf with my son-in-law early Sunday morning led us to Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood, IL (now a public course). We had to pre-pay $85 each to walk, which is more than I like to pay ever, but a quick review of the history and course design convinced us to pull the trigger. Opened in 1901 as a 9-hole course adjacent to land owned by a Dutchman named Ravisloot. While they didn’t buy Ravisloot’s land, they liked his name but altered it to Ravislow, which evolved to Ravisloe. It was a private country club for more than 100 years before financial challenges closed the course. Historic Chicago business luminaries like Julius Rosenwald (Sears president and one of the founders of the Museum of Science and Industry) and Max Adler (businessman and philanthropist associated with Adler Planetarium) helped create Ravisloe as a preeminent Jewish social and golf club of the early 20th century. In 1910 the club bought another 55 acres and added 9-more holes. Famous global golfers like Harry Vardon and Chick Evans were so impressed with the course they added their elite names recommending the course. In 1916 the club invited the most famous golf designer in the world at that time, Donald Ross, to redesign and firmly entrench the course in golf legend.

Upon entering the course I was struck by the almost hidden entrance, popular with historic private clubs. The course is lush in August and in excellent condition. Historic markers are all over the place and the magnificent Spanish-mission style clubhouse designed by famed architect George Nimmons is a welcoming sight. I like to walk when I play golf and this course is a nice one to walk. We played the black tees (6405) and the course has a slope of 130 (average is 113) and a rating of 71.4. I think it’s a very fair, open golf course even though the rating is high. This course will challenge your game because of the bunker systems and in some cases small greens. It’s just a beautiful property though and walking it was a joy. Imagining the ghosts of Harry Vardon and Chick Evans walking beside me as they did a century ago is a humbling and invigorating feeling. The historic buildings on site are fun, and the informational plaques throughout the course are interesting to read. We played right on pace with a 4-hour round despite the weekend tee time. Greens were modest-to-slow in speed which took a little getting used to. One of the guys playing with us was a big hitter and he complained that the rough extending into the center of the fairways on some holes were unfair given his great tee shot. I didn’t suffer that harm 😊 but I could see his point. My only other grievance is the green fees. I can play Cog Hill’s Ravine Course (amazing, see my review) for $78 including a cart so charging $85 to walk this course is too much given the great courses in the area. But if the price doesn’t scare you I highly recommend Ravisloe, especially if you’re a golf history nut like me 😃.

I was looking for a wedding venue and the pictures they had online were nothing like it was. It's very old and run down. It could really use some TLC. When I walked in it had a very musty feeling. The lady who gave my tour also seemed like she didnt care. Overall it wasn't great

Had the Best time. However whomever cut wedding cake so destroyed it. Every piece was like someone chopped it up instead of paying attention. Need some training in service department. I know worked in best outfit. Class goes a long way. So does word of mouth.

The best kept golf course in the Chicagoland area! Great greens and fairways too! The staff are always friendly. Got a hole in one there and they give you the flag, a ball, a metal, and a free round of golf! Plus you get an invitation for the hole in one contest!

It was good. 3 out of 5 stars. Playing a Donald Ross course is always a treat. I would say that course upkeep could be better. Would give overall experience a B-.

Golfed on a miserable day, cold and raining, and the staff were still as nice as could be. First time here, and the guy working the pro shop took 10 minutes to talk to me about the course. The starter also had the best outlook on the day and trying to make everything as enjoyable as possible. The course itself had just been aerated, so greens were obviously bumpy and sandy, but they were still fast enough that the undulations and slopes were in full effect. Putts still rolled pretty well so I can't wait to see the condition when their not aerated. Wide fairways made everything enjoyable and playable, while elevation changes and lots of hills and hazards made it challenging. So many beautiful-looking holes with raised greens and different ways to approach each green made it a lot of fun. I used every club in my bag.
