I spent a few months attending classes at Ritual Hot Yoga and my experience is a mixed bag. I love any chance I can get to be under Infrared Light so that was an immediate win, but I have to say the yoga taught at this studio is arguably DANGEROUS. I am a trained yoga teacher with years of experience and still struggled to keep pace with the speed of some of these classes. I felt my knees and shoulders struggling to maintain speed with the instructor. Although the classes are great for a work out, I heavily advise anyone with pre-existing conditions to reconsider joining. I hope the studio makes changes to it "Inhale" classes and prioritizes alignment and cues over a rapid flow. I do recommend the Yin classes as a nice way to wind down, but the hot flow classes are RISKY and should not be taken by anyone without strong yogic foundations. I will also note that it was difficult to cancel my membership without avoiding fees or excessive notice which sadly left a bad taste in my mouth towards the end. I don't think I will be back.

The best yoga studio there is! An amazing combination of a challenging workout and wonderful meditation. I have been visiting ritual yoga for 7+ years and it has changed my life.

Ritual Lakeview is the best workout/yoga class I’ve been to in Chicago. Frances, Taryn, Steph and everyone else at the studio is amazing and make sure that I leave every class feeling challenged. I typically like to mix it up with different types of classes, but have continued going here for the last 2+ years! Also don’t be afraid to try it for the first time, everyone is very welcoming!

Ritual Hot Yoga is intense, immersive, and exactly what I needed. The sensory deprivation, heat, music, and flow force you to drop in fully. MJ is an incredible instructor—clear, grounded, and powerful. I left drenched, humbled, and reset.

What a mess. One star for a clean facility, provided yoga mats and lockers but this is such a far cry from yoga. The room was pitch black and there was trap music blasting from start to finish. I couldnt see the instructor if she was even instructing or other people to try and get a hold on what was happening. It was such a bizarre experience overall. Been practicing yoga for 11 years and have never been so horrified. The vibes were wayyy off. It was giving woke and trendy which I guess suits this particular area so it makes sense why they are still in business. The instructor shouts and moves with a speed that doesn't promote wellness or mindfulness in any way which is what MOST people practice yoga for. If you're looking for a serene environment to be present and have a meaningful practice DO NOT COME HERE!!

Edit: Thanks for your reply! I think youre missing the point.... Yeah, it was definitely trap/rap/hip hop type music- all the same. No need to get into the technicalities here. It doesn't belong in the spiritual space and shouldn't be promoted as "yoga" when it so clearly is not. It's just another hype, fadish trend that im sure will phase out soon enough.

I love ritual because I get a killer workout every session. But I have a membership with ritual because as a human with massive sensory issues I know I’m going to have a comfortable workout.

The classes are dark so my nervous system disease doesn’t spark up and I don’t feel self conscious. When I’m really in a flare the darkness is so comforting because my balance changes and nobody can see me wobble in the more basic poses.

There’s different levels of class so I can go in for a quick abs workout or wind down to a peaceful session.

The instructors are so respectful and kind. The end of class massages and the pose assists make me feel respected and like I have someone cheering me on.

Ritual is my top three small business in Chicago and the only studio I take my loved ones of all levels. I highly recommend trying a class.

Always such an amazing time at Ritual. I love that the studio is all inclusive, so you don't need to bring anything besides yourself! It definitely feels like a luxury studio. The instructors at the lakeview location are amazing! And everyone is so nice and welcoming. I also like that this studio particularly is great with communication among their members! The manager Francis does such a good job at sending out weekly newsletters with any new information going on at the studio which is great! I’m so excited for their new red light classes!

I’ve been a member for almost three years, and this studio has improved my yoga practice so much! The classes are different from traditional yoga, but they actually teach you how to work toward harder poses, which is rare to find. The owner is so kind, and the whole staff makes it a really welcoming space.

Honestly, the only downside is that it’s ruined all other boutique studios for me. Between the great atmosphere, constant class improvements, all-inclusivity, private lessons included in membership, and having two teachers per class, my standards are way too high now.

Ritual Yoga is the best yoga experience! I am grateful for every class that helped me move fluidly during flow classes and calmly during Yin. The teachers are brilliant and have inspiring words and teachings during class. The oil massages, cleanliness, and calming environment make this studio remarkably unique. The reflections and candlelight make Ritual a divine experience ✨

I absolutely love Ritual Hot Yoga in Lakeview! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with such a warm and welcoming vibe. The instructors are incredible—so supportive, knowledgeable, and full of positive energy. They really take the time to make sure you feel confident in your practice, whether you’re a beginner or more advanced.

The classes are such a perfect mix of challenge and mindfulness. It’s a non-stop sweat session, but it never feels overwhelming because the instructors guide you so seamlessly through every pose and transition. The candlelit room, the music, and the heat create this amazing atmosphere that pushes you physically while helping you totally reset mentally.

I also love how everything is included—mats, towels, water, essential oils—it’s all there for you. The convenience and attention to detail are unmatched, and the showers and lockers make it so easy to fit a class into a busy day.

Ritual is more than just a yoga studio—it’s a community. Every time I leave, I feel stronger, lighter, and more grounded. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place to challenge yourself, sweat out the stress, and find a little peace!

I've been trying to find ways to be more active and decided to try out their 10 day pass. Immediately after couple classes I decided I need to become a member! I love the classes, and the instructors are so nice and helpful. The membership also provides one individual coaching a month, where I can focus on certain poses I have difficulty with. I love the amenities and the studio is very clean. I love all the staff here. Everyone is very friendly, encouraging, and they remind you why you're there; for yourself. It's been amazing for my mental and physical health.

I've been coming to Ritual's Lakeview studio for almost a year now and am OBSESSED! The studio amenities are high quality and the classes are truly an experience unlike any yoga studio I've been to before! I have brought multiple friends to try classes and they've also been hooked. The instructors are all wonderful, welcoming, and helpful and I do not have enough good things to say. Have never regretted a penny I've spent on my unlimited membership - Ritual has been a game changer for my physical, spiritual, and mental wellness. If you like yoga or heated workouts its a MUST try!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Ritual Hot Yoga. The classes are hella hard, but you feel like a champion when you leave, and everything is leveled out so you don't have to be an expert at anything before you go. The instructors are so kind and nurturing, and they provide clear, concise cues as well as visual demonstrations. I love that I can go here and turn off my brain and focus on my breathe and movement for an hour :) Also, the cold Eucalyptus towels and the hands on assists/massages make this a real luxe experience!

I loved going to the studio. I love the positive environment and extra touches- the neck rubs and eucalyptus towels.

I don’t have a lot of yoga experience but never felt the overwhelmed or lost during class. Despite the class being in candlelight I was always able to see an instructor to guide me or they would come over and make small adjustments .

I enjoy ritual because the all-inclusive aspect makes it really easy to incorporate into your busy schedule. The pace is fast, and I’m not always up to pace, but I do what feels right. I appreciate the dark room so I don’t worry what other people look like but sometimes that does make it hard to see the instructor. Doing class with MJ is awesome! And the yin classes are very refreshing personally.

One of my biggest qualms with some other yoga classes is having people be able to put their mat anywhere and then it’s just so crowded that there isn’t enough space. Ritual pre-arranges the room so that you don’t have to see if you’re too close to someone.

I’ve been to yoga classes throughout my life and I enjoy it here enough to get a membership.

I was disappointed in this class and it was probably one of the worst yoga experiences I've had. Who wants to practice in a pitch black room? You can't see yourself in the mirror nor see others in the room for cues. Plus, the music is so loud you can't hear the instructor, and the instructor isn't even using correct terms for yoga poses. It was virtually impossible to have a peaceful practice or genuine workout.
Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

While I think the studio is beautiful and the instructors are very nice, it's really hard for me to call this "yoga," especially as a South Asian person. Though they are trying to be inclusive, the way the classes are structured doesn't really make that a reality. If you struggle with sensory processing difficulties, this is NOT for you.

First, the studio is extremely dark. If you struggle with vestibular regulation (and even if you don't!) it can be extremely difficult to balance. If you haven't practiced a lot of yoga, or have practiced a different type of yoga, it's almost impossible to follow along because you can't see anyone!

Second, the pace of the flow class is ridiculously fast. I have been practicing yoga for 20 years, and I've never heard poses called that quickly (and sometimes by the names they use...). It's very cardio-intensive, which some might enjoy but others might be taken-aback by.

Third, the music is SO LOUD it's deafening. I tend to take issue with playing loud music during a yoga class because it feels fundamentally at odds with the religious/cultural tradition behind yoga.

Another thing that really turned me off was the way they send their solicitation text messages. I brought my fiancé to a class, and after that one class, he started receiving very weird and arguably unprofessional marketing texts. One in particular was for a discount/promotion which included the tagline "the only time you'll want to come early ;)" This just felt really odd for a yoga studio.

I did appreciate the fact that there are usually two instructors in the class, the fact that they give short massages every class, and the eucalyptus towel after class. I also really liked that they provide everything for you!

I think this would be great marketed as some kind of pilates/aerobics yoga-inspired workout, but it really feels far from what I know and want my yoga to be.

I went to a toasty yin class on a whim one summer day and never looked back. studio owner Nicole + every teacher there are warm, funny, serious (when necessary) and silly (when much needed!). The sense of community here is one in at least a million… also, I very much recommend the weekly newsletter of the ritual CEO. In addition to the asanas there’s a weekly lesson that’s rooted in the ancient practice. If you’re a NERD like me, you’ll love researching the lessons between classes. The environment is challenging, humble, informative, and KIND. I’ve practiced yoga inconsistently for a decade, but it’s no coincidence I buckled down in seriousness once I joined ritual. It’s reshaped how I view yoga (and my poses are better for it too lol)

Overdue review… I attended a Steel Mace Flow session run by guest teacher Paulina back in December and had an amazing experience! The studio is beautiful. Check-in on the screens at the door was a nice touch. I obviously had the look of a first timer in the studio because MJ (teacher/staff member) quickly spotted me and gave me a quick run down and showed me around. Many thanks to MJ for making it a warm and welcoming space. It was my first experience in a heated studio and I really enjoyed it! Beyond the lovely amenities and awesome staff…I thoroughly enjoyed the steel mace class. I’ve attended other classes with Paulina and this may have been my favorite! She makes her artistic expression with the mace an accessible practice for the whole class, offering expertly crafted cues and ensuring that everyone is able to keep up with the flow. Paulina is an absolute rockstar. Ritual is out of my way but I would 10/10 return for another one of those classes and recommend the studio generally to anyone in the area!

This is my favorite yoga place ever after living across the country and experiencing many classes. I moved to Chicago with fibromyalgia and chronic pain which got worse and finding Ritual yin classes have been like discovering a oasis of relaxation for my nervous system. I love how they incorporate multiple relaxation techniques into class, great scents, breathing, viby music, massage, meditation, heat, dim lights, and it all flows and at the end it is like you took a long vacation and come out recharged. I have been trying and searching for something that’s helps me and am very thankful bc I never knew yoga could be this good!

This is such a phenomenal yoga studio! As others have mentioned, the music is awesome. Instructors push you to be your best but also offer plenty of modifications (e.g., level 1 and level 2 for the same poses). They also have literally anything you need here. I WFH so I’m always traveling and trying something new. I use ClassPass. If I could attend more consistently, I’d consider a membership. They offer some interesting workshops and “special classes” that you can book directly with them, and I’m sure I’ll try one when my schedule allows.

I love this studio! I did their 10 Day pass while visiting Chicago. They studio is all inclusive which is very convenient. The small massages at the beginning and end of each class are relaxing. The classes are definitely fast paced so I would have been overwhelmed if I was a beginner. The teachers are all very friendly though and private lessons are included. My favorite thing about this studio is how consistent every class is. They all start/end on time, follow the same structure, and include a good variety of different things to learn.

Not thrilled with this experience. I paid $34 for one class, and that was extremely overpriced for this… class. I’ve been practicing yoga for at least 20 years, and while that’s usually an inclusive experience, this felt very exclusive. The main reason being that I couldn’t hear what the instructor was saying, and she wasn’t setting the stage or setting anything up. She would just say words and expect those in the class - new or returning - to know the format. Such as exhaling loudly at certain points, or tuning into your “vision board” for the class, without setting any of this up at the beginning. So no intention settings here. Hot yoga has a format of 26 poses. Each instructor has their own approach to breathing to help your body adjust to the heat. HOWEVER. Any good instructor gives you verbal cues. If they were there, I couldn’t hear them because the music was so loud. Which has the opposite effect of focusing internally. Plus, the room was dark because the lights were turned off, so I spent the entire class trying to find a point on the floor or room to focus on and trying to find my inner peace. None of which was possible because of the music and lack of verbal cues.

The best parts of this studio were the soft benefits - everything else except the yoga class. It’s like paying for Netflix or HBO and enjoying the benefits of sharing your account with others, but the content is not good.

Will not be returning.

I was looking for a new yoga spot in town to make my regular place and appreciated that ritual is all inclusive and darkens the practice room. What I found frustrating was the pace. Even as an intermediate level “yogi” the pace of this class began to give me shin Splints. I ended up just doing whatever I wanted because Ariel’s pace is legitimately impossible. Calling out poses every beat is definitely not friendly for all. This is yoga-derived aerobics class, not yoga.

Be well!

So happy to have found Ritual! I had such a hard time finding the right yoga studio in Chicago. They either weren’t hot, didn’t have good music, kept it bright in the room, etc. Finally I discovered Ritual who not only has amazing music and fast paced flows, but it’s hot and dark in the room and it’s all inclusive. You literally don’t have to bring a thing except yourself and a water bottle (if you don’t want to use theirs - which are swell bottles they provide). When I joined, the studio owner, Nicole, reached out via email to let me know everything my membership included and she has always been quick to respond. Your first class also comes with a free 15 min private session.

Great customer service and amazing teachers. I’ll definitely be extending my membership!

Never met a Ritual class I didn’t like. I’ve tried over 10 yoga studios in Chicago in search of one I felt at home in. While Chicago is full of awesome yoga, Ritual just hits different.

First off, you don’t have to bring anything besides yourself. Mats, mat towels, and face towels are all provided. Forgot a water bottle? Borrow one for free. Forgot a hair tie? Chapstick? Lady products? Again, they have everything available — for free!

Now let’s talk the yoga format. The rooms are heated with infrared heat - the floors are heated too. It’s the perfect level of heat to guarantee a cleansing sweat. The room is dimmed and lit only by LED candles during class. I’ve found this to be a game changer. Because the room is dim, you have to really focus on yourself, your balance, and your flow. You’re not looking around the room or body checking — you’re able to just be present in your practice.

Finally, I can’t leave a review without mentioning the incredible people that make Ritual such a joy. The instructors are incredible - I’ve practiced with Alexis, Nicole, Alexa, Arri, Nora, Stephanie, and Breagh. **Everyone** is incredible. The classes are creative, tough in the best way, and always different. The studio owner, Nicole, is super warm, talented, and welcoming. Everyone’s just awesome.

TLDR: Ritual is the best.

Very fun & different Hot Yoga experience here. I've been to many yoga studios throughout my yoga experience, some amazing, some not so much. But Ritual Hot Yoga really stands apart from the rest! I've never been to an "all-inclusive" yoga studio, where they provide everything from the mat & towels, to a water bottle, and coffee/tea. The icing on the cake was the moist towels with essential oils at the end of class as a cool-down, I've only been to one other studio that does that and it is truly my favorite part of the class. Highly recommend!
