For what it is it doesn't seem bad if you're a member. I'm not so I have to walk I'd say about half a mile to get into the building then you have to walk back. I'm not there for their services the thing I'm there for just uses some of their rooms.

Incredibly unsafe environment. After several months of harassment by another member, we escalated the case to the building level management who informed us they had no instrument at their disposal to enforce the code of conduct they expect of their members, and that we should just ignore the intimidation of the other member.

We hate to leave this place, particularly because of the relationships that we have formed with so many good people here, but the dereliction of the duty of care by management is just unacceptable and morally questionable. I hate to say it, but you’d be safer going somewhere that values member safety over money.

They went from charging $7 fee for use of pool, to now $20 fee to use a run down nasty community pool. The kids area is all broken to to where kids can't even use the one slide they have. Pathetic!!!!

I love this gym ❀️

There's a track, a few pools, a hot tub (and sauna!), as well as plenty of equipment and even a few courts if you want to play ball. It lines up right against the river so there's a great view, and a beautiful walking trail outside. The price is reasonable as well for everything offered.

My only complaints have been having my wallet stolen, being overcharged a time or two, one creeper (who was dealt with VERY quickly by staff- thank you, staff!!), and a negative interaction with management a long while back (regarding the wallet). Those all happened over the course of a few years, so all in all not bad. I go whenever I can. Just be sure to lock up your stuff! :) I wish they had later hours on weekend, but they have great availability during the week and that helps make up for it!!

While there is a wide variety of things to do at this facility, if you are looking for a gym, this is not the place that should come to mind. Seeing all the amenities this facility has, it is obvious that the gym/weight room is not a priority. Old equipment and a small area to workout is what you should expect. Most of the staff seem nice but have come across some that are rude. Decent family facility, with kids but not a go to gym facility.

Came on a Saturday in July 2024, it's $20/person (non-members) for a day pass to use the kids' park. The kids park is only open for 2.5 hrs on select days. This kids have NO access to the 3ft, attached lazy river and the big slide was closed. I'm pretty sure the adults can survive a couple hours without the lazy river, especially when they have access to the 4 foot adult lanes in the other pool.

The 2 lifeguards walking around the very small area (which could be done by 1 person) claimed there was no one to operate the big slide. There was no discount and we got charged full price to use a quarter of the kids pool.

NOT WORTH IT. GO TO DRAGON LAND IN PEKIN!

Edit: after writting a formal complaint, a lifeguard was all-of-the-sudden available after and hr.

I've been working out here for a while. It's a good facility. It has a civility and respect policy that is not being honored by some of the members, and sadly those types seem to be increasing in number. Just over the past two months I've overheard or observed people engaging in truly asinine speech, and sometimes behavior, that demeans the disabled people, LGBT people, women, and older people who work out there.Maybe their cult leader is loosening their tongues, or maybe they're overcompensating for their own shortcomings. Who knows?
The management is aware of this problem but seems at a loss what to do about it. So maybe the decent members--hopefully still a majority--need to speak out directly against the malignantly nasty members and report them if necessary for violating the Rplex's civility policy. I've started doing it, just because I want a decent place to work out with NO JERKS.

The Riverplex is part of the Peoria park district. It is great to have a community recreation center, but do not waste your money on a gym membership. Being a member at this gym sucks. They have community events, OSF therapy, children swimming and summer camps... So the gym members are not a priority here and there are a lot of rules about what a member can and can't use. They closed the member's locker rooms to do "updates" and "renovations"... It took three months and all they did was replace the flooring. The showers are still broken, the steam room is still broken, the sauna is not hot, the hot tub is not hot, and they kept the same old broken lockers. This place is mismanaged, employees aren't paid enough to care, and it is a waste of money.

Decent facility. Staff is mostly nice, have came across just a few that are rude. However my biggest issue is that my son goes to play basketball. He set his beats headphones down on the bleachers and someone somehow stole them while he was close by on the court. I left a very detailed message for the head of security of what court, what time and day it happened. You’d think they have cameras and every person has to check in, it should be easily rectified… nope never even got a call back or acknowledgement, sorry that happened we're looking into it… nothing. So don’t go here thinking these people care anything about what happens to your items while at their facility.

My family and I decided to go to the Riverplex to swim in their pool. We have a 2 month old and we want him to get used to being in the water. First of all, it was $20 per person to swim... including my 2 month old. that was $60 total. With how expensive it was, I was hoping that they had done some updates since the last time I was there when I was younger, but I continued to be disappointed. The women's locker rooms we in the same condition, if not worse, than they were over 10 years ago. There was no updates to the pools other than the fact that they got rid of the Inner Tubes for the lazy river. We first went into the lap pool, but then tried to venture to the lazy river only to find out there were not tubes and a sign posted saying "no children".. Our 2 month old son was looking cold, so we made our way over to the Therapy pool to sit in the warm 92 degree water (felt like bath water) to warm him up. We were then approached by a young man and told us that no children were allowed in the therapy pool. When we asked why, he couldn't even give us an answer he just said, "I am not sure, I just know that children aren't allowed in here".. I then just sat out of the pool with him wrapped in a towel. The facility was dirty and falling apart. The landing for the whirlpool looked like it was caving in, there were dirty bandaids on the ground, and it felt like there were so many rules that were unnecessary (other than the basic swimming pool safety rules). For as much as we paid, I expected so much more. We still can't believe that we had to pay for our 2 month old.. $20 just for him. They said "well he will be using the facilities, so you will have to pay for him." Just really really disappointed. We were really excited to go and we were hoping that we would have a lot of fun and that we would go back... but not for those prices and for the quality of the place.

The Camp administrator is breaking up the camp little by little she is disrespectful and doesn’t take accountability for her camp counselors and how they treat the kids participating in the program there have been multiple incidents with kids and she uses the terms " I know my counselors wouldn’t do that" instead of looking further into the situation I would never bring my kids back to this program and wouldn’t recommend this program to no other families you pay money for your kids to have fun and to interact with other kids and they are being secretly bully by camp counselors who are almost 10 years older than them

I have been going to the riverplex for many years. Main problem with this place it is a beautiful facility but that's from the outside. The little Band-Aids that they're doing on the inside of this place is are horrible for years I kept saying remodel the men's locker room remodel the showers remodel the steam room. Fix the temperatures and the steam room the hot tub and the wave pool. They're never consistent. Never consistent. I may need to go now to see what it looks like inside cuz I haven't been for several months and my main complaint was for those several months they never checked on me one time but they made sure they billed me for at least a year and when I called and asked about it. They said they don't check on their members they just keep on selling that bill out every month. I see if you have a location like this and you have members that come in and pay you good money you should at least check on them to make sure everything's okay and that they're doing good. They did not so I canceled my service back in March before the next billing date before I was billed again and guess what they charged my card twice for March and for April. And when I called the lady said oh we just put that in the wrong column. Yeah I need you to run me that hundred dollars back for those last 2 months that I wasn't there and I canceled. Yes gorgeous facility great location it just needed to be closed down for at least 6 months and have them redo the whole place not do partials so they can keep running their Cash Cow. And they can't say I never said anything when I first started going there at least five six years ago.

I find it absolutely ridiculous that there is no dedicated schedule for the other basketball gym. There’s no iconography indicating if the gym is in use and no times indicating availability. Also, why do 4 people need the entire court to do yoga? I love yoga. I love dance. I love all the additional activities they have for people, but it’s completely nonsensical that the entire gym is off limits for a few people who are basically stationary. UPDATE YOUR SCHEDULE BOARD. CREATE ICONS FOR THE BASKETBALL COURT. LET OTHER USE THE GYM AT THE SAME TIME. Other than that it’s great

Disappointed Experience at RiverPlex Pool and aquatic manager.
29th, Sep, 2023

I recently visited the RiverPlex Pool with my family, expecting a fun-filled day of swimming and relaxation. However, my experience was marred by the pool's policy of not allowing kids to get into the pool.

Upon arrival, we were informed by manager Amanda that children were restricted from engaging in typical pool activities other than one day of the week, leaving them to not do anything. This rule contradicts the very essence of a family-friendly pool, where children should be encouraged to splash, play, and enjoy their time in the water as well as learn to swim with parents.

This restrictive policy not only disappointed my children but also frustrated many other parents at the facility. The atmosphere was far from lively, as the sound of laughter and excitement that usually fills a pool area was conspicuously absent. Instead, children were confined to sit and watch elder swim or watch instructors train kids how to swim with hefty fees of $30/class.

While safety regulations are important, there are more effective ways to ensure the well-being of all visitors without stifling the natural exuberance of children. Other family-friendly pools manage to strike a balance, implementing sensible rules while still allowing kids the freedom to play and have fun.

I hope that RiverPlex reevaluates its policies to create a more inclusive and enjoyable environment for families. A pool should be a place where children can explore, learn, and make happy memories. Sadly, my recent experience at RiverPlex fell far short of these expectations. That's why I decided to cancel membership until YMCA opens up their pool next summer.

Hope someone understands and change policy or else families with kids won't be coming to Riverplex gym anymore.Β I am also disappointed with manager Amanda for being too much focused on nat allowing kids of swim with adults unless kids are taking swim class. This is ridiculous.

Thanks

Good place overall but it seems maintenance has been a bit lacking do to funding issues and kinda bad parking security. For example water fountains don't all work and i did get my car scratched in the parking area once the cameras are owned by the peoria police and they admitted its quiet a bit of work to get access to video and not all of them worm. My membership is 47 per month which is high compared to golds or planet fitness but I do get access to a nice track, pool, and my membership grants me access to the Peoria YMCA.

The teachers in my classes work at other gyms. One worked out before a class with weights and during my class got fatigued while teaching. I'd rather have the teacher get that way without working out beforehand showing us it's OK.
Some group members were commenting on their generational music in the class & started singing very hard to stay focused and have run when singing off key.
Group exercise is too long 30- 45 min no 60min to lose weight. Also need kick boxing. They need more personal trainers plus free session when you join.
Fix it when it's not open like after hours. Not enuff showers. Still problem with pools and locker rooms. There's more to this list just ask the members!

The riverplex is a great facility and I used it frequently until I got busy with school and work. During a period where I got very busy my debit card expired that was linked to my membership, 2 months after my card expired the riverplex called me and said I owe them $98 for back pay of a service I hadn’t used at all since my card expired, and on top of that they slapped added fee’s on top of the 2 months back pay for my payment being β€œlate”. I’m a struggling college kid trying to make ends meet, handing over $98 is a brutal gut punch and seems like an atrocious business model.

We have just started at RoverPlex. They have so much to do. This is a top-notch place. There is a walking/running track, warm water pool and regular pools. They have a tremendous amount of equipment. There is always medical stand on duty in case they are needed.

Very nice facility. Swimming, weights rehabilitation all the most modern exercise equipment you could possibly need. Swim lessons are great. I put my grandkids in private less.

This place has something against children. Do not expect this recreation center to be kind or welcoming to children. Even if your child is doing nothing wrong, and you are watching them, they will still harass your children. They decided no children should be allowed to swim in their pool. I asked the woman at the front desk about it, she said my kids would be fine to swim as long as I watched them. Not even a minute after my daughter got in the pool manager interrupted our conversation to tell me my child can't swim in the pool anymore. When I asked her when my child would be allowed to swim she said maybe in March if they find enough staff. We got this for our kids to swim. We are cancelling.

Ive been a member this gym since 2011 and i love the faculty. The people have been great mostly. I like the equipment and atmosphere. I dont have many complaints about this business. Im still a member because i like to come in and shoot around. I just like working out and being around folk who care to be healthy.

They need to update their website to accurately reflect their hours and services so people don’t show up at 5:30 a.m. and learn they don’t offer day passes anymore.

For the past four years I have been working out at RiverPlex! I love the community and culture of Riverplex so much, I even started working for them! Riverplex offers Les Mills group exercise classes with the best instructors, and best indoor track! In addition, the facility is always clean! πŸ™ŒπŸ½

They closed pool for 2 months and removed warning flags at end of lanes. I have discussed with lifeguards and check in personnel several times during last 2 weeks but they refuse to string some type of tape across existing poles. Very difficult to know when you are approaching the end when doing backstroke.

Terribly managed recreational center. It’s in a neighborhood of Black Families, but cater to a more European population. I had a membership for 3 years (only pool in area). They know the Black youth love basketball, but limit the court availability. They kick the Black youth out all the time for volleyball tournaments. Don’t build a Rex center in that community and limit the things they love. Letting them have birthday parties in the event room is not making up for the obvious discrimination!!!!!!!
