Jon has created an amazing atmosphere for Olympic weightlifting, sports performance, and general strength training at this gym. If you are a weightlifter in this area of the suburbs, training here is a no brainer. If you are an athlete or parent of an athlete trying to improve at their sport, you can do no better than STS with coach Jon Sax. Every time I’ve dropped in here I’ve had an excellent experience. Clean gym, clean bathroom, excellent equipment for Olympic weightlifting, and great atmosphere. I highly recommend.

I’ve been getting personal training from Jon, the owner of Sweep the Sheds, and it’s been an absolutely incredible experience. From day one, Jon has gone above and beyond to help me refine my technique, build my strength, and develop a genuine passion for Olympic lifting.
He has an amazing eye for detail, he doesn’t just tell you what to fix, he explains why it matters and how it connects to your overall performance. Every session feels purposeful, and I walk away learning something new each time. His coaching style strikes the perfect balance between being motivating, knowledgeable, and encouraging.
Since training with Jon, my lifts have become smoother, stronger, and more consistent. Beyond the numbers, he’s helped me rediscover how much fun training can be. I am visiting Chicago for a few days and was looking for a place to continue my training, I have a meet in a couple weeks. Found Sweep the Sheds gym. Such a beautiful clean facility. Has all the equipment a weightlifter could want. Jon the owner responded to questions very quickly. Drop-in hours were convenient and getting into the gym was easy. Highly recommend this place for any weightlifters visiting the area. If I lived here I would check out their training, for sure.

I’ve been going to Sweep The Sheds for several months and it has been nothing but lovely! Training with Coach Sax is an amazing opportunity, and I’ve seen so much personal improvement in such a little amount of time from this program. I reached out to get some information about an upcoming meet and the owner Jon was amazing. We set up a call and he answered all of my questions and provided a lot of reassurance as this would be my first sanctioned meet.
Fast forward to meet day and his team was amazing. I didn’t have anyone to coach/count for me and he provided someone with plenty of experience that helped my day go flawlessly. The meet itself was very well run and I was impressed with how timely and efficient everything was.
The gym itself is clean and there is plenty of space and equipment. I’m looking forward to working out in their space again. Would definitely recommend Sweep the Sheds!

Our middle school aged son has been training at Sweep the Sheds for about 2 months, and he loves it! Jon & Emma do a great job of watching closely and providing immediate feedback to ensure kids are safe and set up for continued safe progression. Along with being very knowledgeable, and using years of experience to teach, they also stress the importance of teamwork, which is so important to someone who plays multiple team sports! We’re very impressed with our son’s improvement already and look forward to watching him continue to succeed. I've been a member of Sweep the Sheds for about 2 months now. It's my first time going to a dedicated Olympic weightlifting gym and it's been a great experience! I have noticed definite improvement in my strength and technique. Coach Jon has created a great atmosphere that's very welcoming to everyone, both beginners and experienced athletes alike. Jon came to one of my rugby practices last year, I was looking for a Olympic weightlifting gym and coaching not long after, even the first day I was there everyone was so nice and welcoming and the place has a great over all atmosphere, the coaching is also great, Jon is great at explaining everything from little issues on form to teaching people the lifts. Overall a 10/10 in my opinion and I think if your looking to start Olympic weightlifting it should be with Sweep the Sheds

We have found Sweep the Sheds to be an outstanding experience. Our son gets trained on techniques of Olympic lifting, a personalized plan, lots of 1:1 feedback and does all this in an environment focused on camaraderie and championship mentality. Sweep the Sheds is a great group to join to learn weightlifting. I first enrolled my son to give him an opportunity to learn how to do Olympic weightlifting and to have a coach with experience training college athletes and youth athletes. Jon took an enormous amount of care and attention in devising an appropriately challenging workout for me during a recent visit to STS. As a 65+ year old with knee, hip and shoulder issues, I need to be careful about how I train.
