The Bar Method Chicago - South Loop is a boutique fitness studio offering barre classes for students of all levels. The signature method uses your own body weight, the ballet barre and a few props to create a transformative workout that results in long, lean sculpted muscles. Not only does it reshape your entire body, but it allows you to channel your inner strength and leave class feeling strong, confident and poised. Great bar studio! What’s unique about it is that the exercises are approved by physical therapists. Since I started, I noticed great improvement with the my ankle injury. I highly recommend it!

This is the best total body work out, and the only workout I have ever been able to stick with regularly. It has completely changed my body, increased my strength, improved my flexibility and keeps me thinking and working. There is always something new to learn or an opportunity to improve. I appreciate the precision with which instructors give feedback so you do each exercise in the most effective way. I also love the studio challenges and theme days that add an extra boost in motivation and fun. Last, but certainly not least, Julie has created such a warm, supportive, welcoming community. The South Loop location is just the best!

I’ve done Bar Method for almost a decade and there is nothing like it. The instructors are so technically trained and I’m loving the new class formats (Bar Strength!). My local studio closed so I tried a bunch of other studio classes and came right back to the method, happily commuting. I’ve been a devoted bar method client for several years and a client of the South Loop studio for about five years. I cannot say enough about how much this workout format has improved my overall fitness level. I like to say that the Bar Method is like working out your body from the inside out, using isometric movements and breathing techniques. You will workout every inch of your body and, in time, you will become leaner, stronger, and have increased flexibility. There are a variety of classes that will challenge you and leave you in better condition than before you walked in. Further, the owner of this studio and the staff are very knowledgeable and caring and the clients benefit from their expertise. You cannot go wrong with the Bar Method!

Hands down Bar Method South Loop is the best!! I initially planned on joining for only a few months as I was trying to get in shape for my wedding. Three years later, I'm still going to Bar Method and have no plans on quitting. In addition to a fun workout, I discovered a community of amazing women who have been there to support me since Day 1. Julie and all of the instructors are the absolute best. They are so kind, encouraging, and make you feel so good about yourself no matter where you are on your fitness journey. They celebrated my wedding with me, were there every step of the way when I was pregnant last year (*side note, Bar Method is AMAZING during pregnancy-- the instructors helped me modify the exercises to keep my body and my baby safe), and have cheered me on as I've tried to get back in shape postpartum (despite falling off the fitness bandwagon a number of times). I now live 30 minutes away from the studio and I keep coming back to the South Loop for class despite the distance. I have not found another barre fitness studio that compares.
For anyone who is scared or intimated by barre (or fitness classes in general), I encourage you to give this studio a try. I used to have the worst gym anxiety and was so afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep up and would embarrass myself doing a fitness class (plus I have zero dance experience and never really went to the gym in general). At Bar Method South Loop, there are women of all fitness levels in every class so I guarantee you won't be alone. The classes are designed to help you no matter how much barre (or fitness!) experience you have. The instructors will always show you how to modify exercises, whether you need to take it a little easier or want to find a way to challenge yourself more. The instructors are also fantastic at keeping an eye on you to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly and they will discretely help you if you need a correction. Every single instructor I have had has been amazing.

Been going to Bar Method South Loop for a little over a month and can see and feel the benefits of a min. 2x a week routine. I see muscle definition and feel stronger, and I can only think that it's thanks to the corrections I get from the instructors. I have tried it all, from boxing to CrossFit to spinning. Bar Method is definitely one of the most challenging workouts I have ever done! After awhile, you really start to see results. Even day to day, I have noticed my posture (something I have always struggled with) has improved. The instructors are all great, and my 7 year old loves to go to childcare with Ms Ro. It really feels like a family. The owner Julie is very accommodating and helpful. Highly recommend!

I started going to the Bar Method South Loop before CoVid. Due to a knee injury it was difficult to do certain high impact workouts and so decided to gave this a go. The instructors have helped me through knee pain and adjusted movements in a way that has helped strengthen my joints. They are amazing at what they do but also friendly and approachable. Been going to Bar Method SL since January and it’s been a welcome addition to my workout routine. My push-ups have gotten way more impressive since starting Bar. All the instructors are really passionate and amazing. I cant speak highly enough about this location. The staff/instructors are amazing and individualize the workout to each person in the class. I started at The Bar Method a month ago with a left labrum tear in my hip. Along with dry needling therapy and attending these classes 3-4x a week the pain in my hip has decreased significantly. If you're unsure about this type of workout like I was, definitely try it out and take a class because I am so glad I did.

The Bar Method - South Loop is a beautiful, clean, warm, and friendly studio with well thought out amenities, including day care, lockers, and showers. Julie, the owner, and the front desk staff are very attentive to new clients, and experienced members making sure everyone's needs are met, questions answered, and participants have the support they need to make the life-style change they have committed to. There are some amazing instructors that take care to explain proper set up for each exercise, make timely corrections, and offer modifications when needed. Loren, Liesl, and Sarah are particularly skilled at adjusting the flow of the class to keep it stress free, yet productive and fun. There were so many times when I thought I could not do a particular exercise, but with their guidance, was able to improve. I would highly recommend the Bar Method- South Loop. If you are thinking about it, give yourself and them a chance. I am grateful that I found this South Loop gem.

I love Bar Method. It changed my life! I came to the Bar Method initially with Class pass. I never thought I would be addicted to any sort of exercise but I’ve been coming here almost everyday. The second class I took here, I met an amazing instructor named Liesl. She helped me throughout the class and I was so grateful for that. Julie the owner is so sweet. She always encourages me when she sees that I’m about to give up. All of the instructors are super helpful, energetic, friendly, and amazing with names. They really help you with form. The studio is very beautiful and spotless. There are lockers in the front by check in, along with workout clothes and grippy socks. They also have a complimentary wide selection of coffees and teas. I like that they have showers and toiletries. I am so happy that I found an exercise that I am in love with. I really enjoyed Bar Method and would definitely recommend Bar Method to anyone who is looking for a low impact but effective workout!

I've been wanting to join the Bar Method for a very long time. They offered a great special membership for the new year and I'm enjoying every moment of it! The owner Julie is awesome (along with all the other instructors) and excellent making sure form/technique/modifications are on point and appropriate for your age, athletic ability, shape/weight. I just turned 62 and my goal for my retirement year is to stay fit and strong... I couldn't have found a better workout!!! I've worked-out all my life and this is by far the BEST workout for any age and one I could do for the rest of my life. It is hard, intense yet simple enough where you want to keep coming back for more. BEST PART OF MY DAY
I was introduced to the Bar Method 10 years ago and have been a devotee ever since (warning, it’s addictive). The workouts are always challenging, yet as I’ve aged, Bar® is still easy on my joints. It’s truly a full-body workout; strengthening, toning and stretching all the muscle groups. As a result of this uniquely designed and well-choreographed workout, my posture is better and whole body is stronger, especially my core. I walk taller and am more mindful of my posture thanks to Bar.
Julie, the owner of the South Loop studio, is fantastic! She is extremely knowledgeable and motivates us to push ourselves outside of our comfort zones, while always focused on teaching us good form. She really cares about her clients and it shows. She’s also hired well, as all the instructors are great and bring their awesome energy to every class. I could never push myself at home or at a gym the way they do.
I love the camaraderie, diversity and energy at this Bar Method studio. It’s a judgment-free place and all can discover why Bar really works no matter if you’re just starting out or are already into fitness. Bar meets you where you are, so it works for all of us. Every class is challenging, yet fun, and all you have to do is show up. Before you know it, the hour is up, and you join your Bar-mates in a feeling of accomplishment for doing something amazing for yourself. And that, for me, is the reason the Bar Method remains the BEST part of my day.

The workout is incredibly effective - I had terrible back and shoulder pain that has improved markedly with strengthening, and I have gained a lot of functional strength. I am so happy that I found this class and the South Loop studio! The South Loop location is very convenient, with great amenities, and a friendly staff.
I recommend The Bar Method to everyone. The movements are really subtle and really intense! The instructors are also extremely kind and call you by your first name. Their priority is to ensure that you are maintaining your alignment to avoid injury, while also challenging yourself to become even stronger.
There are several lockers and two showers for your convenience.
You will not regret trying a class! I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Best workout for mind, body & soul. Great for all ages, body types and ability levels. Workouts can be modified for individual needs. I have back problems, do modifications & still get a great strength building workout. I’ve gain strength, endurance, flexibility & balance. Instructors are great! I can't say enough about this studio , the owner Julie, the instructors and everyone that works in the front to the playroom in the back. They are truly like a second family.I've met so many amazing people here and can truly call them my "friend" . Bar babes for life. Luv this studio and can't get enough of all these classes: Bar Method, Bar Move, Bar Advanced, Bar Restore and so many core exercises. I've been at this studio since 2017 . I'm being challenge daily and getting stronger and more flexible by the day. I have reached my 500 plus classes and can't wait to feel the burn and see what else is in store for 2020. Come check this studio out, you won't be disappointed. I promise!!! Another reason because there's always a "BINGO" challenge to get you motivated and into the studio. I love the Bar Method approach to strengthening, flexibility and focus. I absolutely adore the South Loop location, which have amazing instructors who are knowledgeable, and super qualified. They are lazer focused on form, making one less apt to incur injuries. The studio itself is spacious , clean and comfortable. Metered street parking is available most days. The Bar Method: South Loop is such a great investment of time, energy, and wellness. The atmosphere created here is full of kindness, encouragement, diversity, and strength. I truly find my time here during the week as an oasis. The instructors are very knowledgeable and provide challenge to all levels of experience. The class times are great no matter your schedule. I love that this space has a full locker room area, fun challenges as a studio, and a play area for those with children depending on the class time. No matter if you are seasoned at The Bar Method or brand new- you will be welcomed, cheered on, and walk away stronger than when you entered. I'm very grateful for my time here! Highly Recommend!

I love the classes and community at this studio! Julie is both an amazing and gifted teacher as well as an excellent studio owner/manager. The studio is super clean, comfortable and full of natural light. The classes always challenge me even after attending regularly for months- the teachers do an amazing job of keeping the classes moving, giving personal tips and hands on adjustments to see ongoing improvement. I feel stronger, feel better and have much better posture. I also use the childcare for my 5 yo and he loves it.

I have never been in here i take my son to his doctors office that's next door BUT I love the bar method I follow online and through email i have been working up the courage to go into the one in the loop on Wacker for 2 or more years now i feel that i need to lose some weight first LOL that's just my feelings but don't let my fears discourage you they have them all over it's one in Wicker Park

Joining at this facility was one of the best exercise decisions I have made. Classes are extremely challenging but all levels of fitness can participate. The instructors are very hands-on and help with adjustments and individualize exercises as needed. After just three weeks I am already starting to feel stronger. I am very motivated to keep coming back because the exercises work your muscles at a very deep level yet feel very safe. Every instructor I have had has experience and a strong knowledge of body mechanics. The classes offer challenges for both beginners and fit/advanced level participants.

What a difference from the typical "gym" workout! I actually look forward to my classes at the Bar Method South Loop and never before have I had such noticeable results. The Bar Method has made me not only physically stronger, but mentally stronger as well. As a stay at home mom of 3, I lacked confidence and sometimes battled depression. A friend invited me to Bar Method in January, and I jumped at the opportunity for a change. I've always worked out, but found myself unhappy and unfulfilled at the gym and dreaded my workouts. My first few Barre classes were far from pretty;) I was uncoordinated and clumsy and the classes were so hard!! But, I am so grateful for the patient and knowledgeable instructors who worked with me and encouraged me every step of the way. I quit my gym membership and became a Bar Method member. I am proud of the physical and mental strength I have. The focus and breathing I've developed have helped in so many areas of my life. As a runner, I am thankful for the muscles, the mental focus, and the breathing that have greatly impacted my training. As I prepare to run the Chicago Marathon in a few weeks, I have the confidence to cross the finish line knowing that I've made it to the finish line of many thigh and seat work sets! Thank you to my friend who invited me to Bar Method and all the amazing instructors! The studio is a place of beauty and empowerment (and very clean!!). Come check it out!

The Bar Method South Loop has become my new obsession. I've always wanted to try these classes and now I cannot imagine my fitness routine without them. The classes focus on toning,flexibility ,poise,grace and for me CORRECTNESS and not COMPETITION.
Each instructor reminds you to go at your own pace, and offers positive feedback with many options for modification. The studio is clean,the staff inviting,the atmosphere is perfect and each student is greeted by name, before during and after class. I find this to be a BIG PLUS.
My first class was with Loren, and she provided me with minor adjustments to keep me feeling comfortable. I've been coming back ever since. Christine is patient and I find her directions and instructions extremely helpful.Whitney(The Fireball of them all) challenges me and gets my energy level up. Julie, explains all the movements and performs them with you to help you achieve your best.
Brice, always greets me with a smile, and her experience in these classes helps me follow and emulate her movements

The only downside to these classes is my work schedule, I cant come as often as I like.
Come on in and try these classes out. I promise you you'll love the flow and the challenge of what your body can achieve.

The Bar Method South Loop has definitely been an integral part of my every day life since moving to Chicago. Being completely new to barre, I was impressed by the detail, dedication and patience the instructors put into to helping me perfect my form and build my strength and flexibility. I have been trying to go consistently, and have found myself challenged by each and every class. No class is ever the same, so it never gets boring. I definitely try to “embrace the shake” during class, and I consistently “feel the burn” the next day. Everyone is so encouraging at The Bar Method. I am always greeted at the door when I enter the studio, and feel welcomed by everyone who takes the class. The studio itself is beautiful, clean and bright. I am also loving the fun challenges they hold to keep everyone motivated. Overall, The Bar Method South Loop has helped me keep a consistent physically-active lifestyle, be mindful of my own body, and leaves me feeling stronger and encouraged for the rest of my day.

Bar Method is a very challenging, motivating, and results-driven workout. I initially joined to help manage back and shoulder pain I was experiencing from working at a computer all day. In addition to improving my posture, it has helped me strengthen my core, balance, and flexibility which has helped me gain confidence and take more risks in my hobby as a dancer. This studio is small, so it's easy to make friends and develop accountability. The staff is very hands-on and helpful, and they are always coming up with creative ways to keep us engaged (i.e. continuing to come to class!) In sum, Bar Method is definitely worth the investment.

I started taking The Bar Method classes because a friend convinced me to try it. Now, I love it! It’s really for all ages, body types & skill levels. Modifications can be made based on your ability & the instructors help with adjustments so you get the most out of each move. I have definitely noticed an increase in my strength, endurance & flexibility. And people have noticed a difference in my outward appearance. Most importantly though, I feel amazing after class! Wonderful classes and experience. Tore meniscus in my left knee and had surgery a few years ago which prevented me from doing squats. The Bar Method relies on body weight and small isometric movements which are challenging and muscle building. A good workout. Great for strength building, toning and shaping your body. Lovely staff and instructors at the South Loop location too. I'm in this for life!

I highly recommend Bar Method for those interested in building lean muscle and need a
mindful experience. The instructors focus on your form, which I appreciate compared to other exercise classes. Also, once the instructors know your capability, they encourage you to work harder during class. With the stress of daily living, being mindful and focusing on yourself for an hour long class is life changing over time. Not only are the instructors welcoming, the studio is as well. The natural light and exposed brick makes the space very relaxing. Plus, the bathroom with showers and toiletries is a bonus when you need to get ready before work or play.
