Very welcoming environment and instructor. As someone who is trying to get back into a fitness route, and new to Barre and Pilates, I’m so glad I found this place. Tons of free parking along Pulaski and side streets is also a huge plus. Looking forward to attending more classes!

I tried a drop-in with Meg's strength class as I was visiting out of town and it was such a great decision! It's a beautiful studio, but more importantly Meg was so knowledgeable, kind, and fun to train with. As someone with insecurity about my (lack of) fitness, she made it a safe space to be in and provided alternatives to accommodate a lingering injury of mine. If I lived in the area, I would go back to her class, and the studio as a whole, again. Thank you for the positive experience!

There are so many beautiful things I can say about The Groove Chicago. I have been a member for almost 2 years and from my very class I knew this was a community I wanted to be apart of. The studio is welcoming to everyone, Gaby and all the instructors go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcomed and really push for everyone to honor their bodies. The Groove is always coming up with cools ways for members and non-members to help the community in different ways such as hosting a monthly Sandwich Club and Trash Pick Up. The studio has exposed me to different forms of group therapy in combination with yoga as well as book club. The only warning I will put out there is once you attend a class you will get addicted to the vibes and community and want more. For myself and others The Groove is our happy place that provides a safe environment to welcome movement into our bodies. I am so happy I signed up for Bad Bunny Barre Class almost 2 years ago, I have gained a community, friendships, and perspective on so many new things.

The Groove is a safe haven for POC and other often-minimized identities/voices. This has been the best yoga studio I’ve been to as a queer neurodivergent Latina; I’ve been coming here for nearly two years. Gaby has built this studio with so much intention and love and FEARLESSLY defends her studio and community when foolishness creeps in. She comes to bat for her members and I feel very safe and protected here.

Whether you’re a long time practitioner or new to yoga, there will be a class for you. She offers classes that range from stretch & journaling to barre and Pilates-infused core yoga. Gaby has recently had new instructors join the studio with an amazing array of offerings such as reggaeton dance, vinyasa & joy, and strength training- just a few examples. One of my favorite parts is that The Groove provides all materials for class- including mats- making the yoga practice super accessible.

When I come to the studio I feel like it’s home. It’s cozy, has art made by members on the wall, drinks and tea, and can always groove to familiar music from SZA and Bunny Bad and peaceful melodies alike.

Gaby also hosts community events such as sandwich club, potlucks, self love photoshoots, book club, and community processing spaces to discuss issues affecting us all.

If you’ve made it this far and still haven’t signed up for a class- what are you waiting for???

As a plus size woman, I am often too intimidated to walk into and participate in health studios. I was never made to feel other here by Gaby or the other members of this studio. Her classes abc instruction are comfortable, inclusive, and, depending on the class , relaxing/challenging. The studio is ran in a way that is aligned with my personal values. Great music, studio, and vibe.I stopped going while pregnant as she does not offer prenatal yoga but am excited to return and experience the new classes being offered.

I highly recommend this Yoga/Pilates Studio✨

The owner is passionate, knowledgable and loves the community. I was able to go to a yoga class (my first) and literally walked out feeling relaxed, relieved and so motivated to continue the rest of the day/week!!!!

I really am hoping she opens another studio closer to where I live! If anyone is looking for a safe place from beginner level to more advanced yoga/pilates classes this is the place for you!

I am going to make time to come back to the groove. This place is worth the commute!

Highly. HIGHLY recommend. This is a place with good intentions to help people on an individual and community level. Each class is its own experience that you have to try out and then decide which is your favorite. Meet people who might be on a similar pathway as you in healing, connecting mind, body and soul and moral values. Gabby Offers Book Clubs, Community service events and more. Classes are such a vibe - Gabby takes time to create an experience w/ a dope playlist, scenery, and class content. Start to finish.

The Groove Chicago is not your average yoga studio. It is a place of happy and calming vibes, local art and products, and community. I have attended classes here and the instructors (Gaby is the best!) and I always leave feeling refreshed and stretched and centered (I came at 8months pregnant as well and there were always modifications offered for all skill levels and belly's). The playlists are so thought out and I can't lie, the other events they have are just so much fun. If you want a unique and wonderful yoga experience where you feel like you matter, community matters, and people matter, Groove Chicago is for you. You are in the best hands here.

Before coming to this studio almost 2 years ago now, I had never tried yoga before. Since then I've learned so much about yoga, body awareness, how vital the breath work we do in our sessions is to my mental health, gained a wonderful community, and continue to learn more and more about appreciating the power my body and mind have. It's incredibly beginner friendly, the instructor gives kind encouragement through out and you're regularly provided with modifications to the expressions at hand so you can do what feels good for your own body.

Its 100% a place I get excited about visiting, no joke, literally every single time! And I've been going weekly for the last year or so.

As a women of color its a place where I feel seen, safe, and welcomed by all those who utilize the space. Its a 3rd space where the owner Gabriela puts much intention into:

- The sessions she teaches
- Curating calm, patient, and generous atmosphere
- Holding a variety of community focused and philanthropic events / activities outside of class
- Making her members feel considered, very often seeking feedback on suggestions for use of the space. You can tell that she trusts us and values us dearly.

I constantly tell people, especially the women in my life, about the studio and try to get them to see it for themselves, because The Groove has become such a special place to me :)

This is one of the best studios I’ve ever been to! I attended the wellness fest at the beginning of the year and Gaby was so welcoming! The entire vibe is different from the culture of chain yoga studios so if you are looking for a community this is your place! Definitely not “useless” 😊

Gaby (owner) is an amazing instructor who takes time during each session to walk us through proper breath and movement. Intimate and mighty yoga/barre studio in the Belmont Gardens/Avondale neighborhoods. Love the variety of classes and the fun partnerships Gabby those with other small businesses. I broke up with my last studio for this one. I hope one day we get weekend classes too!

The barre classes I always think “they’re not too bad” but then I’m sore for the next 2 days. Love that!

Amazing experience. Gabby (owner) know exactly what she is doing and creates such an inclusive and welcoming intimate space. Love the way she tosses the societal perspective of yoga and the elitism out the window. A true yoga class-getting in touch with your body than just a fitness class to get fancy yoga photos. ALSO SUPER AFFORDABLE!!!!! Worth every single penny.

Short Review: The Groove Chicago is amazing.

Long Review: I've officially attended each different type of class currently offered at The Groove Chicago and can confidently say there is something for everyone. My personal favorite is stretch yoga, which involves (surprise!) really deep stretching and holding poses for quite a few breaths. Every stretch yoga I've attended has been different, and the incredible founder, owner, and teacher Gabby, makes each class unique. She often asks at the beginning of class if there are any areas of our bodies that need attention in the class, and modifies in the moment to meet students' needs. She is also deeply intentional with accessibility to poses, and will never ask you to do something your body is not comfortable doing. There is no blame placed if you can't access a pose, just support in finding what does feel good to you.

This isn't just a yoga studio either - Gabby intentional partners with different community artists & entrepreneurs to provide classes that incorporate activities like candle making and bouquet making, while highlight BIPoC owned businesses in the area. She has recently started a book club at the studio as well. She goes above and beyond to create a community at the studio, and it's been a consistently calming & positive space for me.

Went to my first class there today. The space is so wonderful and comforting. The instructor and owner, Gabriella won me over immediately with the playlist of britney, lizzo and beyonce. More importantly though, the actual Core Yoga instruction and flow was fun.

I normally can't wait for yoga to be over with anytime I'm in a class, but today I wished there was a 90 minute version!

Bonus was the local products she lets vendors sell there. I came home with a tumeric lotion, and it smells and feel divine.

I've only taken one of my sessions so far, but with that alone, I definitely feel like I've already gotten my money's worth. I was lucky enough to purchase a holiday special and after taking the Yoga Core class, I'll have to make sure to read the details in the future. The word "Core" is clearly in the name and I showed up mentally prepared for a nice relaxing class... I must say I slept very relaxed that evening, but that class sure does live up to it's name. My core is very thankful and I'll have to come back and check out a Yin or Stretch class once I recover. Thanks a ton to Gaby!
