At The Strength Studio, we are dedicated to providing Chicago with the most recent, functional, and science based methods for optimal physical fitness and performance. We offer private and partner coaching, as well as small group classes. Our coaches are experts in their field, holding both nationally recognized certifications and accredited university degrees. We specialize in functional strength training, corrective exercise and athletic performance.

I have been training with Stephen Slack for almost a year. He is incredibly knowledgeable and great to work with. Stephen is organized and very thoughtful when creating our workout routines. He continues to push me to the next level of strength and mobility while keeping the regiment safe and injury free. Having worked out with numerous trainers over the years, I can’t recommend him more highly.

I'm now one year into training with Steve Slack and very grateful for his expertise. I'd previously trained and played sport for multiple years but had let exercise and diet fall by the wayside.
Steve has helped me focus on very specific functional training, and tailored every session to regaining incremental strength, flexibility, and agility. I can't sing his praises highly enough and feel "night and day" better than 12 months ago. I know it's hard for folk to get training again with busy lifestyles, complete lack of time etc. but all you have to do is walk through the door and he'll take care of the rest. Same with Brett.

I have been training with Brett for over 10 years and will ALWAYS recommend him to anyone. He is super detail-oriented, creative, and writes the best personalized workout programs tailored to the needs, limitations, goals, and strengths/weaknesses of any individual. I believe he is the best in the business and he has helped me improve the quality of my life over the years tremendously. I'm 62 years old and I've worked out with a lot of trainers over the years. My son works out with Brett and he recommended him to me. I could not be happier!! He is the most knowledgeable Trainer I have ever worked with. He didn't just give me a standard program. He tested me in different areas and he knew exactly what I needed. He changes up program every 6-8 weeks to keep it fresh and he stays on top of your progress and makes changes as needed. I train and teach Martial Arts still and Brett's program really helped with my flexibility and mobility also. Never felt better!! I would recommend him to anyone!

Every Mon-wed at 6am for 12 years. Brett is best is the business. Cares about my training, nutrition and has helped me overcome injuries over the years.
Every 4 weeks new workout program.
I can’t thank him enough for keeping me healthy and strengthening my back/body so I’m still able to golf, play hockey while sitting in chair for 9 hours a day at work.

Brett and the Strength Studio have completely changed the way I think about my health and fitness. Before starting with Brett almost 2 years ago I only worked out here and there, but didn't really know what I was doing. When I started at the Strength Studio with Brett we began with the basics, and he was very patient, even when I couldn't even get through one push up. Now I'm doing exercises that I never thought I could do at this level, have learned a lot about nutrition and how to eat healthy in a doable way, and have gained muscle while losing weight. The gym is clean and spacious, has all the necessary equipment, and is a welcoming environment for every skill level (speaking from experience!). Brett and the other trainers are knowledgeable about training and nutrition, and are super friendly. I recommend stopping in if you already love strength training, or have never lifted a weight and want to start!
