well kept, well managed course - with the best hot dogs you will find in central illinois. (no joke)

I am a student at uiuc and have been playing orange and blue for 3 years now. Recently the fairways are terrible greens are terrible and they have upped their prices. $37.50 for a twilight 9 holes. Atkins is the same price and atkins is a very well kept nice course. Just terrible. Go book a tee time at atkins.

Not even worth $10 for a round of golf there. They donβt water the course in the slightest, dead spots cover half of the fairways and greens, tee boxes are either uneven or overgrown, and the rough is either weeds or dirt

Well maintained. Friendly service. Nearby. The rough is not that tall this year (2025). But even when it is, that's part of the charm. I stink at golf, but I still enjoy the Orange and Blue routinely.

Hadnβt played here for quite a few years. Played the Orange. Was really in pretty good shape and plenty firm and bouncy. Having played there regularly as a youngster, I was excited to get back. The fella at the register mustβve had something depressing on his mind; but, it went well thereafter!

Fun course, decent shape. Simple layout and not much character. Played the blue course.

I had a frustrating experience at the U of I Golf Course. A sign clearly marked half the driving range as closed, so I used the open side without issue. Wanting to use the short game complex next, I called the clubhouse to make sure the closure didnβt apply there. An employee named Alex assured me it was open, so I bought another bucket of balls.
When I got there, someone not affiliated with the course told me I couldnβt practice. Back at the clubhouse, Alex admitted he didnβt actually know it was closed. No staff member seemed to know what was going on or how to fix the issue. I asked for a refundβAlex said there was nothing he could do. I asked for a managerβhe refused to get them. At one point, I even saw Alex laughing and complaining about me to another employee.
Eventually, someone offered me a range voucher, but it was only valid for 24 hoursβnot helpful. Iβll probably use it because $15 is $15, but Iβm not happy about it.
Great facility, but completely disorganized staff and poor customer service. If management is reading this and wants to make it right, feel free to replyβI'd be open to a follow-up.

The Orange course.
Great course, great condition overall. Insanely wet after nearly 3 inches of rain in the last 2 days. Water everywhere, even when it doesn't look wet in the taller grass.
Greens are in excellent condition. Very soft and can hold pretty well , but screaming fast speed, even still wet from morning dew. Rough is plenty long too.
Over all, bad round for me, but great course.

The people that work at the University of Illinois golf course are the nicest people ever. I did a camp there and they really want to help you get better at the game of golf. They are super nice and extremely personable.
I highly highly recommend golfing at the University of Illinois golf course and trying out there camps. It WILL be worth it.

Open to the public. Good course. Good layout. Fairly easy(blue course). Good condition. Nothing really wrong with it.
However, being a Division 1 college golf course it really should be better. Facilities are dated. Grass growing thru the cart path everywhere. Ball marks on greens not fixed and the locals should be embarrassed to do that. Greens held well and putted great though. Range is just ok. They need to visit Ole Miss and see their practice facility.
Anyway, with that said I'd still play this course every day. Nothing wrong with it really. Season pass is beyond a deal.
Worth the time to play for sure.

Well maintained, and had an enjoyable round. Staff was quick to help. Only complaint is my ball wouldn't go straight, and it kept finding the few traps that were present. However, the sand traps were very well maintained, and I consider myself an expert in that area.

I have been going to the Orange and Blue courses for the last 8 years or so. The course quality has remained the same: Greens are cut, but players do not repair divots and greens are aerated a couple times a year without warning. Fairways are fairly covered in grass but rough is spotty and unwatered.
Course management has gone way downhill since Covid. There was a large bump in players over the last few years, and management has taken that as an opportunity to increase profits instead of re-investing in the course or paying any additional workers.
There is a "starter" on weekends, but they don't stick to any tee times or adhere to any sort of a schedule; everything is first come first serve.
There is no marshal, and no plans of having one. After the first tee, groups of 5+ often come together without letting smaller groups play through. Groups often have less sets of clubs than they do players. No one monitors the course so one group can dictate pace of play for all.
This course is fine for beginners who are playing their first rounds of golf. For any experienced players or groups of less than 4, I would recommend going elsewhere.
I will not be returning.

Course was in great shape. Only giving 4 stars because one of the employees in the clubhouse was talking smack about John Daly and Bryson Dechambeau within ear shot of me.

Course was not taken care of. Very hard ground, dirt spots and dead grass everywhere even the greens were mostly dead grass and way too dry. Kitchen only had 3 options for food. And seems like no one playing there has proper manners.

This course was in awful shape, from the tee boxes to the greens it was hard as cement. The tee boxes grass was as tall as the rough, the fairway and greens were all beat up and a bunch of dirt patches on the greens. It was an unorganized mess, as we made the turn to play the back nine, a group showed up and said they had a tee time and played in front of us, no rangers or player assistants on the course to control anything. People played extraordinarily slow, took us 5 and a half hours to play 18 holes and we were only a 2-some. No one let us play through, none of the golfers on the course had any golf etiquette. On FIVE separate occasions we were almost hit by golf balls, not a single person yelled fore. We ended up getting food and it was disgusting, I threw out my burger after 2 bites because it was simply disgusting. Overall terrible experience and would not play this course again. Waste of money.

Course is in okay shape, but always fun to play. Postage stamp greens make it entertaining and challenging, but play with a desire for the game, not the upkeep.

Have only played 2 rounds on the blue course and from what I hear it is the easier of the 2. The course is very forgiving and well maintained. Cant wait to try the orange out someday.

I like the two courses but this facility is so poorly maintained (Fall is diaster, you won't find your ball in all those leaves, but ok) but more importantly, the place is so badly managed! There is ZERO
communication to the members ($850+/year!) in regards to Covid closures, policies to driving range openings, cart usage, nothing, nada.
Bad.

Beautiful course, but horribly maintained. Bunkers are mud pits and full of weeds. Grass is at least 1-2 inches longer than any place else I have played. It makes it hard to find your ball.

Absolutely the best public golfing experience per dollar in the area. The practice area is unparalleled. The professional can help improve your game with one lesson and the investment in both courses including bunkering, irrigation and new carts is in the hundreds of thousands just this year. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and learn your name quickly. If you are looking for a quick nine or want to invest in a pass and a home away from home the University if illinois Golf Course is the place for you.
