Worked with Kelsie to fix chronic hip pain stemming from a collegiate sports injury multiple years ago & shoulder pain from a recent injury. Not only was she super knowledgeable & I’m now pain free… Kelsie also made the process really enjoyable (hard to do for rehab!!) I always looked forward to coming into the gym

I have never written a review in my life, but this time, one is well deserved. I ran my 10th marathon yesterday for Chicago and was experiencing tendon pain around my left Achilles weeks leading up to the race. Kelsie at Wattage gave me a set of exercises that I religiously completed each day, and in turn my Achilles in question was tremendously stronger. She not only checked in with me daily on how my progress was, but she dry needled the area in question on multiple accounts. Race day came and I had ZERO PAIN whatsoever in that left Achilles! I also had a Course PR (personal record) for Chicago! TRULY AMAZING WORK. There is absolutly no doubt that is was because of Kelsie at Wattage. I owe it to her expertise and truly am so thankful. I will continue my exercises and fully trust her with any injury I come across. THANK YOU KELSIE!!!!!

Kelsie is the best in the biz. Being a competitive powerlifter and grappler, I’m riddled with aches and pains from head to toe. Seeing Kelsie to help take care of that has been truly a delight. She is very detailed, thorough, and thoughtful with her methods, and is consistently checking in on how you’re progressing. She is one who genuinely cares about how you are improving with whatever you’re working on and ALWAYS follows through long term to make sure those aches and pains remain at bay. Can’t recommend her enough, if I could give 6 stars I would.

I first started going to Wattage to rehab a shoulder dislocation, the process of which was so effective that now I couldn’t tell you which shoulder I injured. Alongside that swift recovery process, I underwent muscle coordination training to prevent future injuries, and have since moved on to practical strength training. Because of the dedicated programming and care I’ve received from Kelsie at Wattage, I’ve become a stronger and more injury resistant athlete, allowing me to pursue more physical endeavors and goals than I previously believed possible for myself. As for the location itself, the staff is incredibly friendly, the equipment is high quality and clean, and the amenities are plentiful. I cannot recommend this place enough!

I am a senior client at Wattage and since June of 2024, I have worked with physical therapist, Kelsie Mazur, to address issues largely related to discomfort in my back. This has been my first experience with physical therapy. Prior to beginning my sessions with Ms. Mazur, I had no idea what to expect from the weekly sessions. But I have been deeply impressed with the results of those sessions and the discipline that I have adopted. I have been most impressed by Kelsie Mazur, her knowledge and her professionalism, as well as her dedication to her work. I believe that these and other qualities distinguish Kelsie Mazur and have made this an excellent experience for me..

First, you will not find a more pleasant person to work with. She has always placed my needs above all else. When necessary, she has adjusted the plan for a weekly workout to accommodate my specific therapy needs. I have benefitted from her flexibility in the workout sessions. I am aware that she has many clients during each week. But she has always been well-prepared to meet with me and address the specific matters that have affected me from week to week. I have never felt as though I am just another client, even though I share many of the same physical issues with so many others.
In addition, she possesses what I believe to be a brilliant understanding of the broad range of issues that affect her work. On several occasions, I have asked her about physical issues that affected me, but that I thought might not affect my therapy plan. I was amazed how she would stop and discuss the various relationships among all areas of the human body. She would then explain why my personal questions and concerns were related to my other physical issues. Her understanding of her professional role is incredibly impressive, and it has inspired my confidence in our work at Wattage. I cannot imagine a more competent professional in her role.

Finally, looking back on my experience with her at Wattage, I must mention another quality that sets Kelsie Mazur apart. I believe that she has combined her profession as a physical therapist with another profession. She is a natural teacher. It is important to Kelsie that her client (me) understand what things we do in therapy and why we do them. She is well-prepared for each session, and she has always taken the time to fully explain what she has asked of me and why she has done so. Often, the explanation is a complicated one. However, she is an excellent teacher, and she has been successful in broadening my understanding of the healing benefit of physical therapy. I am grateful to her for this aspect of her work.

Wattage has been an impressive environment for me, and I am in a much better place now than I was a year ago. My experience there has been very positive and I must give all of the credit to Kelsie Mazur. She is a treasure.

I’ve worked with many physical therapists over the course of serval injuries. Kelsie Mazur @Wattage is one of the best! One on one work, highly specialized treatment plan, added in dry needling when needed, and she coordinated with my personal trainer to make sure all of my activity supported my recovery.

I went to Kelsie for 3 sessions after sustaining a calf strain from overuse. We originally scheduled a free consultation so she could diagnose my calf pain and customize a personal plan to get me back running. During that time I found her to be a very knowledgeable and personable PT and would highly recommend for anyone who’s sustained a sports injury.
In my tailored sessions she built an at home exercise routine that helped accelerate my recovery period. Just 3 weeks after finishing Kelsie’s program I was able to complete a marathon with no pain!

My wife and I have been going to Wattage for a weekly training session for over a year now, and this gym is amazing! Our trainer, Macie, is a treasure... she really dives into your fitness goals and develops a plan to help you achieve them. She works within your limitations and keeps you motivated to keep improving. Everyone we've met at Wattage has been personable, professional, and dedicated. If you are looking for a personal trainer and a well equipped gym, give them a try. Bonus points for a sauna, ice baths in the summertime, an on-site physical therapist, and a nutrition coach. This is a personal training gym, but if you just want to check it out, sign up for the group class on Saturday mornings to get a feel for the place. You won't be sorry!

Wattage is the best gym I’ve found in Chicago. I’ve worked with multiple trainers on post-injury strength building rehab exercises. Annalise is awesome- can adjust to any ability level while also pushing you to do your best! She also knows her way around a workout playlist. This gym can get the biggest muscle-y types to reach their goals but is just as welcoming to someone who has huge restrictions on activity.

In the pandemic, Maria and Aaron have made sure that the space is extremely safe with strict mask protocols, limited clients at a time, and virtual training. When there was even the suspicion that one person who entered the building could have had covid, they closed early and hired a crew to fumigate the whole place with a sanitizer.

Can’t recommend it enough!!

This is a really great gym with talented and thoughtful trainers. I've been going here for over 14 months (well, the last 9 months have been "virtual") and it's been positively life-changing. Annalise has helped craft a workout program for me that's not only challenging, but the 1st exercise program I've ever had that I actually look forward to. Oh, and the facility is absolutely top-notch, even in The Before Times, it's far and away the cleanest gym I've ever been in (and the bathroom is practically a mini-spa!).

Highly recommend checking them out.

My husband and I love working with Brittany! Before we started working with her, we were in a bit of a rut. Training with Brittany at Wattage has been a great experience. She was very focused on holistic wellness, not just sets and reps. Flexibility and stretching we big parts of my workout programs, which I was sorely missing in the past. She worked together with other trainers to modify exercises and find solutions whenever I experienced pain/discomfort, which was very impressive. Brittany was extremely knowledgable and answered every exercise/nutrition question I had, and frequently shared ideas on how to improve nutrition. She was flexible and worked hard to make workouts fit around my schedule.

Wattage group workouts are unique! Unlike most workouts that incorporate high intensity intervals, Wattage doesn't limit the cardio portion to a treadmill. The trainers get creative in their methods of both cardio intervals and weight training. With equipment you can't find in a standard gym or workout facility, the trainers make sure you are targeting all muscle groups in ways you haven't before! Definitely recommend!

I've been lifting weights for more than 20 years and my body has remained more or less the same over that time. To say Wattage is a unique gym is an understatement and to say Wattage is a great gym really wouldn't capture the amazing experience every time you work out there. Wattage is by far the cleanest gym in the City but more importantly the trainers are some of the most qualified I've met. I train with Mark Roberts, and I can say honestly in over 2 years, I've never had the same workout. Mark has an amazing ability to push me to my limit, not just push me until I can't do anymore. Aaron Manheimer gathered a team of trainers who stand out because they are always looking to excel and always focused on form, healthy competition and clients creating and achieving their unique and individual goals. The equipment is top of the line and whether you're pregnant or an olympic athlete, you will be pushed to your limits every workout. Don't take my word for it, drop in for a class or sign up with one of the trainers, and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

After about 20 years of working out on my own and thinking I knew what I was doing, my good friend introduced me to Wattage. It didn't take long to realize that what I had been doing pre-Wattage was not only wrong and ineffective but was also causing injuries. Aaron totally revamped my workout routine. After years of running with a brace, I'm now running brace-free and have no more nagging injuries. ALL the trainers at Wattage are incredibly knowledgeable and will push you beyond where you thought you could go. The best part is that all of this happens in a super cool gym with a lot of laughter, great music and an overall feel good vibe. My Orthopedic Surgeon recommended Wattage for post-rehab knee replacement. The trainers at Wattage coordinated with my physical therapist and doc to help me get back to the activity level pre-surgery. These guys are not your average health club trainers. They are extremely knowledgeable about the science behind the body, movement, etc. I not only got back to my pre-surgery fitness level but stayed working with my personal trainer who is now helping me improve flexibility, balance and core. The gym has a cool vibe. Excellent equipment. Huge open layout. It's not chatty or flashy. Very welcoming place and you have the undivided attention of your personal trainer. This is more than just a gym! I found this training center through a friend. Wattage takes a very holistic approach to training and tailors every workout to my specific needs, taking into account my strengths and areas to improve. I've worked with Aaron for several years now, originally in a group training format (2-4 people) and now in individual sessions. I strongly recommend his services. I have had past issues with injuries: both shoulders, right knee, and lower back. Aaron always gives me a great workout that not only challenges me physically and mentally but also helps strengthen my weaknesses and avoid re-injury. His routines change so I am always improving and never experience the monotony of other workout programs. His no-nonsense attitude keeps me on task but he makes sure I focus on form and don't do anything to hurt myself. Aaron is very well versed with all of the factors that affect athletic performance including nutrition and recovery. The program he created for me helped me cut body fat, increase strength, and rehab injuries I thought I would be living with for the rest of my life. Do yourself a favor and go see Aaron.

I met Aaron over 5 years ago, while watching Texas Football Game at a local Bar, never knowing how much that night would change my life. I guess you could say I had always been the "bigger girl" all my life. The girl that loathed going on a girl’s trip, because I’d be the only one in the one piece hiding from the camera. More so, I hated when summer came because heaven forbid I ever wear a cute sun dress with my chunky legs! I only had myself to blame as I never worked out and usually would eat whatever I wanted. Even the times I got some what motivated, it only led to crazy diets plus no exercise which equaled a scale that showed minor and temporary results. I had given up and accepted that this is just the way I’m going to look…until I met Aaron.

That October night in 2008, I sat next a friend’s personal trainer who was also her good friend. Although intimated by “the guy with the muscles”, I spent the evening asking question after question (not to mention ordered a salad…even though I secretly wanted the fries). I was so intrigued by his passion for working out, his intelligence on health, and education of the body… I decided to to give it try. Not only would I go to a gym for the first time since 8th grade gym class, but I would take it to the next step and work out with a personal trainer.

The first session was bittersweet. I was completely embarrassed in the tight workout clothes and the fact that I couldn’t do any exercise that was asked of me. But that afternoon and evening, I felt this feeling that no cupcake ever game me. And the next morning as I could barely get out of bed or sit on the toilet from soreness, I ironically still felt that good feeling. :) It was the feeling of achievement, the feeling that I was taking the first step to change myself both inside and out.

Nine months later, I was completely different person and 20 pounds lighter! But trust me when I say it didn’t happen like magic, it truly took those nine months to change myself and my lifestyle. The success at the beginning had its ups and downs. There were many times where I wouldn’t do my “homework” (my workouts on my own) because I made excuses that I was too tired to work out or just couldn’t find the time. I would try to hide from Aaron the McDonald’s I had earlier in the week or the late night food on a Saturday night. But when we wouldn’t see results, Aaron held me accountable for my actions, while staying patient and never giving up on me. With time and lots of hard work, together we had finally built something from the ground up. And now I was and still am a machine that can’t be stopped. Aaron taught me how to change my lifestyle and how to have a passion for taking care of yourself. He showed me that working out can be fun and addictive, esp. when you see that first sign of a a bicep and even a six pack…okay maybe a 2 pack :).

Working out with Aaron is not a treadmill… it is dragging sandbags across the floor, kick boxing and upper cuts, vibrating planks, and having 12 pound medicine ball thrown at you. But with this much excitement and creativity, I look forward to every session and only wish I could afford to see Aaron every day. Aaron is like a parent you don’t want to disappoint. He is so dedicated and intertwined to his clients that you don’t want to let him down, but most of all he shows each of us what is most important is to not let ourselves down. Thanks to Aaron I now make the right decisions…I choose to eat healthy food (but know when to treat myself) and I choose to work out every day.

5 years later, I maintain my weight loss, work out 5-6 days a week, and live a healthy life style. And even though life took me back to Texas, I always make sure to "see" (aka train with) Aaron when in Chicago for a weekend visit. No workout will ever compare!

Thanks Wattage!!!!!

I started training with Aaron Manheimer in 2004 when he was the strength and conditioning coach of my semi-pro rugby team. After seeing the dramatic changes that took place on the field for the team collectively, I began working with Aaron one-on-one and as part of small group sessions. With Aaron's help, by 2007, I was a member of the US National Rugby team. At 33 years old, I remain in the best shape of my life and I owe all of my fitness knowledge to Aaron.
