I live near Wellness Lab and saw the "Strength Training for Everyone" banner a few times before scheduling a session...and I thought, "Really? For EVERYONE? Even a complete beginner like me?" The answer is YES! I've been going 1-2/times a week as my schedule allows for several months and really love it. Nick is an excellent trainer, listener, and teacher, and it feels good to be getting stronger.

Nick is really knowledgeable in wellness in general as well as deeper with the ARX equipment. I never had a workout experience like this but in the end we only do about 5 minutes of effort. It was incredible and I highly recommend the Wellness Lab.

MAY 2025 UPDATE: My recent DEXA Scan shows the T-Score for my spine improved from -2.8 (osteoporosis) to -2.2 (osteopenia)! My doctor remarked, "That is not something we see often without medication (frankly I'm not sure I've ever seen it), so you should be quite proud. Keep up the good work." Credit goes to Nick for adjusting my workouts to include more axial loading.
As a 66 year old female I rely on 2 sessions per week with Nick to help extend my healthspan. 3 ½ years ago I was initially drawn to Wellness Lab for its ARX machines, but Nick’s dedication and guidance as a trainer far outweighs ARX’s many benefits. Nick gives generously of his time, resources and expertise. You will not find a trainer more passionate about his profession!

I have been going to Nick at Wellness Lab for almost a year now and I love it. I was recovering from a broken foot when I started and Nick was able to tailor the workouts on the ARX machines to regain my leg strength. The workouts are fast so it’s easy to fit into your schedule but also super effective - you will leave sore for sure even though it’s only a 30 minute workout!

I’ve been going to Wellness Lab for 4+ years and couldn’t recommend it more! As someone who is not overly athletic or coordinated, I’ve always struggled to work out, but Nick is patient, supportive, explains everything clearly, and is great at adapting workouts to make sure I get the most out of every workout. I have been going to the Wellness Lab for more than 4 years now and it has changed my life. I had nagging injuries from sports and I could not get them to stay away. I went to chiropractors and PTs to no avail. Nick helped put me back together. He assessed asymmetries from a life time of bad habits. He identified lacking in range of motion and breathing patterns that prevented true functional strength growth.
I feel the strongest I have ever been at 43 years old. My wife says I look my best as well, not just in muscle growth but overall how I hold myself. I have missed 0 days of training due to injury since starting here and I look forward to continuing my fitness journey at The Wellness Lab.

I’ve been going to the Wellness Lab for almost five years, and it’s hands down one of the best fitness decisions I’ve ever made. The ARX workouts are always challenging, and the results speak for themselves. It’s incredible how just a couple of low-impact sessions a week can deliver such great outcomes.
Nick is a fantastic trainer who really knows how to get the most out of each session. His advice is always spot-on, and he keeps you motivated to push just a bit further every time. He’s also added a CAROL bike for clients, which is another amazing body-hack workout that complements the ARX sessions perfectly.

I've been working with Nick at Wellness Lab for 18 months now and I can't state enough how great an experience it's been. The ARX equipment and resistance training is highly effective and very efficient as you can get a full workout in just 30 minutes. Not only do you get to utilize the unique ARX equipment but you get the benefit of working with a highly skilled personal trainer in Nick. Nick always has a plan we generally follow but things can also be adjusted on the fly. Nick is also just an awesome guy who's really easy to talk to and get along with, but he'll also push you to get the most out of your workout. Going to Wellness Lab has kept my workouts more regimented than they ever have been and I've loved the consistency of it. Nick is always finding ways to improve his studio and really cares that his clients can get everything they're looking for in a one stop shop. Would highly recommend at least doing the trial session and seeing how it goes!

This place is next level. Every time I train with Nick he works with me to build not just my strength, but also my skills and knowledge. He gradually introduces form, technique, breathing, and even more esoteric methods to build healthy strength in people of all ages. Seriously, regular attendees range in age from 18 to 87.
The ARX exercise modality is completely unique. You have to try it to even understand the difference. Normal weight machines are passive: you push/pull a weight up and gravity pulls it back down. ARX is motorized. You know the car crusher at the dump? Yeah, you're the car, except instead of letting the machine smash you into a cube, the trainer coaches you on how to use that inexorable force to get stronger, to extend your limits, and ultimately to be a total badass. There's no other place like the Wellness Lab.

Two parts to this.
First to understand that I am 53 and have weight trained for the last 3 decades - 5 days a week, 10 hours a week. I was introduced to ARX over a year ago. What I can say is that my body currently is in better shape than at any other time in my life. We have been able to finally give my body the symmetry that I wanted, improved my range of motion, and have added mass to my legs that have always been resistant. Unlike some people who train ARX once a week - which is great, I have elected to take it to another level and train with Nick 3-4 times a week. To compare, that is 1.5 to 2 hours a week compared to 10 hours in my past. It is the most effective ways to work out and I personally I could never go back to a traditional gym unless to use it as a social outlet. It is not an effective use of my time and money to be perfectly honest.
Beyond the technology is Nick as a trainer. I have also used trainers consistently. I live in downtown Chicago and had always used trainers at Equinox in Gold Coast. Additionally since I travel for work weekly - prior to COVID - and I use ARX in cities across the country whereever it is available. ARX is an incredible tool but you will be limited if you are being instructed by someone that doesn't understand how to utilize the technology to maximize your potential and understands the human body.
The technology and the training surpasses anything that I have found in any other major US city.

ARX machines are mind-blowing… I still sometimes laugh at how quickly my muscles are pushed to the limit and just can’t do anymore. The coolest part is seeing the current workout graph superimposed on the previous session and the real time comparison of your results. Seeing the strength increase like that pushes you even more, as opposed to comparing data after you’re already done. The 30 minutes is no gimmick, these are measurable, impressive results. And yet, all of this efficiency does not come at the compromise of safety. Nick and Owen have helped me continue to make strength improvements all while nursing a pretty bad prior shoulder injury. Nick has a rare level of attention to detail when it comes to coaching cues, biomechanics and good form… especially in this age when personal trainers think the job is just about pushing buttons and occasionally yelling at you while they check their cell phones. (I would know, I used to have to hire them for a gym I owned and there were so many poor quality trainers out there). Lastly, the thing I love most about the Wellness Lab and the reason I recommend it is that Nick really cares about you. He truly, sincerely cares about everyone from the middle aged mom to the 80 year old grandpa and you are important to him even if you’re not a 20 year old elite athlete. If strength, muscle mass and bone density are important to you, you owe it to yourself to give Wellness Lab a try.

ARX not only provided the quick hit to my arms, back, shoulders, and chest, but helped to correct my posture from years on the bike. The best workout I've ever done! It was my first ARX training session and I had no idea what I'd signed up for. Nick was extremely helpful and informative in explaining every aspect of the equipment and the correct postures and alignment to get the most benefit out of the exercises I performed. This was by far the hardest workout I've every done in only 25 minutes. I was sore for 4 days following and will definitely be seeking this out when I return to Australia and wherever I will be travelling to next. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to return for a second session while I was in Chicago but will definitely be back next time I am there. Thank you for opening my eyes to ARX!

I have used an ARX machine with a few different trainers now (in LA and then here in Chicago at the Wellness Lab)
The trainers at Wellness Lab have been by far the best. Their understanding of the body & the ARX machines are unparalleled & bring great energy to the workout to motivate you to give everything you have (while maintaining proper form & function)
Travel often takes me out of Chicago but I know that every time I am back, I am going to Wellness Lab to get my workouts in.
Made some clear, measurable gains in strength, output, and physical shape in about 2 months of doing ARX at the Wellness Lab once every 5 - 7 days.
