Been coming here since 2018 consistently and this gym gets the job done. The gym is small but it has a good amount of equipment for many exercises. I will say that hygiene at this gym has gone a bit downhill, trash cans are usually full, paper towel dispensers are constantly out, ants in the bathroom, toilets are gross, scale in the men’s bathroom has not worked in 2 years. Workers are mostly on there phones or talking and they can easily clean.
The next day I write this review it’s worse with trash cans filled over capacity.

Layout is small but its organized honestly as best as it could be. There is one free weight squat rack, one smith machine, free weights section, 2 rows of machine weights, and 3 rows of cardio machines. I think they should move cardio to accommodate 2 more free weight squat racks (just in my opinion though). Overall, it gets the job done, but defintiely needs maintenance (wome'ns bathroom always has a broken toilet, sink, or paper towel dispenser), but it gets the job done.
Management: I know you will reply to this based on your previous replies with patrons, but instead of replying to me that management will get back to me for assistance (which I do not need), please reply when you've made this a gym worth paying for, such as better arrangement, cleanliness and maintenance/replacement of used and/or broken equipment.
Please let me know if this happens.
Update 5/21/24. Its been several months since I've been here- the equipment is new! More specifically the plyo boxes and stairs. Major criticism: music is way too loud. I have noise canceling ear buds and can't figure out why this location makes is so loud compared to Logan Square's .
Updating 6/29/24: YOU GUYS ROCK for addressing my comments! Moved 3 ->4 stars because you guys delivered. TY! Request for now (could just be me) but could you please stop playing Naked and Afraid? Haven't seen it on tvs at gyms, and don't know who's an avid fan on staff. Lol.

Staff always looking to make a sale. Gym is kinda nasty. Nobody put weights back or wipes down the machine when done. Oh maybe because the spray bottles to clean the seats are always empty.

I’m writing this review on behalf of my best friend who has been going this gym almost a 4 month and all 4 month she has issue after issue.
First they charged her twice, after tons of calls, chats, waited hours they finally refunded. Then now she is having issue with scheduling a 1:1 training with her trainer, also they wrongly counted the visited days, to solve this problem for some reason she has to go through hell - to just to talk with manager. Which he or she never on their seat.
I wish I could give them zero star management for luck of professionalism.
Me and my friend strongly recommended DO NOT go this gym, trust me you will save some time, money, nerves.

Terrible payment system! I like the gym, the coach is also wonderful, but the payment system and the solution to such problems are simply terrible. They constantly have some kind of problem with my payment, write off money for a year in advance without my consent, and no one wants to solve this problem until you get to your boss. Then they can’t sign me up for my already paid trainings, because they again have a problem with payment. Finally, this is my last month with them, I don't want to work with them anymore, I don't recommend this gym to anyone.

You have the stupidest system and the stupidest management! Why can’t I come to an already paid training session?! Yesterday they said because I didn’t pay, I paid for everything and sent you all the receipts , after which they said last month I came more than I should have. In fact, I even came less than necessary! Again, I show all the evidence, and today you say I canceled my membership. Why should I cancel if I already paid for everything?! For what?! Do you think your clients are stupid?! You don’t want new clients to appear and regular ones, you force them to leave you for other gyms!!!

Today was a horrible experience, the manager told me I couldn’t work out with my friend only because to him my friend was training me. I explained that my friend was only helping me lift and he technically called me a liar by saying he doesn’t want to see us helping each other in anyway that that’s why he’s there or the trainers so they can get paid to help me. I think this is so crazy because everyone is allowed to bring a friend and workout together. I have been going over a year and not once a manager told me anything. He was very rude to the point he even prohibited me from coming to this gym just because I asked for his name and didn’t want to give him my badge. He mentioned it’s his gym, his rules. He mentioned that I had to speak to corporate if I wanted to continue going. I payed for my membership so there’s no reason he should have authority to do this just because he wants to. Overall it’s horrible management. No one bothered to try to help. I also asked for the policy information and he didn’t want to give me anything. He just wanted for me to take his word.

Save yourself the trouble. Besides ample security concerns (breaking into cars, people sleeping in locker rooms, machine breaking down and hurting you), management does not care about the better well being of their customers. Even when you cancel they make you go through loops. Oh, and don’t forget the cancellation fee. Paying a little more for a better gym is going to be your best bet.

My overall experience has been a good one. Overnight staff is to focused on themselves and not the facility. Paper towel dispensers and disinfectant sprayers are too often found empty. Weights strewn all over the gym. Overnight should be the easiest to maintain because so few members visit these hours .

This is the gym that is close to my house but I really regret it because it is always dirty and the machines never work, they are always broken and the trainers that work there are always playing very loud music and the truth is I don't like that payment and nothing works well there and also Ninfa is clean. Two years ago there were people working as cleaners and now there is never anyone there it is always dirty please I want you to do something or the truth is I'm going to go with you. the city to report this now

Strong 4/5 spot. You can work out and hit every muscle group, it has all the right machines. It’s a bit small but never so crowded you can’t get a proper workout in. Sometimes the water fountain breaks and isn’t repaired for a while. It could be a little cleaner as well. You get what you pay for, and for 9.99 it’s a great spot. This gym is not as bad as everyone says. Plus it’s very conveniently located by a Blue Line stop as well as an Aldi if you need groceries on the way back home. Gym staff are friendly! Good vibes here.

The worst gym I have ever been to, in Chicago or anywhere else. Tiny building, equipment that stays broken for months at a time, filthy locker rooms that I've seen flooded with raw sewage from a backed-up toilet on more than one occasion. The entire gym smells like mildew and wet socks. You're thinking about it because it's only $10 a month, but it's not worth even that. Go literally anywhere else.

I’ve been a member for close to 2 years, and I never had a problem with management. However, recently on one of the hottest days of the year, the gym was really hot. So I asked the fitness manager if they could lower the temperature because my friend was feeling lightheaded during our workout because it was so hot in here. The fitness manager smirks at me, and says “no, it’s not coming out of your pocket, it’s coming out of my pocket”. I never had a problem with previous management lowering the temperature when I asked, but for whatever reason, I got told “it’s not coming out of my pocket” when I pay for a membership, when I pay for training sessions. I brought in so many new clients to train with my trainer because he’s really great, but we’re thinking about leaving xsport now because of the horrible customer service I received. No one should be talk to like that, and a lot of members I’ve been talking to have been saying the same thing.

Save your money. This gym has gone down hill. For 3 months a bathroom stall was broken, now another one is out of used for almost 4 months without it being repaired. People leave their weights everywhere, and staff doesn't try to tidy up. Benches are starting to come apart. You are better off going to the express xsport on elston or the xsport on logan

Cheap and convenient, yes. But enough is enough. I write this as I wait 20 mins for a tmill. There are between 5 to 8 tmills broken at any point in time. Sometimes weeks at a time.
3-5 employees either milling about or at front desk at all times. Nobody to fix a machine. Ridiculous.

I have been going to this gym for over 5 years, training with Lamar for a little over 4. He is positive and encouraging- takes the time to make me feel comfortable in the gym. He instills confidence and motivation, which has helped me to reach my goals that I did not know were possible. He models dedication, compassion, and a work ethic that’s inspiring. These are the key ingredients necessary to achieve success when looking for a personal trainer. I wouldn’t be where I’m at now in my fitness journey without him

UPDATE: it’s been 5 months since my initial review. NOTHING has changed IN FACT it has gotten worse. XSport replied to my review stating they “will continue to improve my experience “ I’m sorry to inform this has not happened. This gym serves a predominantly Hispanic community. I am disgusted at the negligence in the upkeep of this gym. We are getting over a pandemic and now going through flu season. The machines are disgusting. XSport charged me a “cleaning yearly fee” yet fails to do just that, this is called fraud. As a healthcare worker this is an insult as it is my job to stay healthy and keep those around me healthy it is an insult to the Hispanic community as they are the ones who keep this gym on it’s feet with their money and the ones who will suffer from an infection or asthma attack.Certain staff members with very bad street-like attitude. This gym is a direct reflection of management failing to manage. This is the only reason why things get neglected. I said it before and I’ll say it again. Charge more and change management. Most of us will pay for service and quality
If you want a very serious gym atmosphere this isn’t it, but I think that’s pretty well known throughout the city. Locker rooms are not well kept. Children (grown men smh) in the weight area turning the water fountain spout out so that you wet yourself. Over and over and over again. I don’t know anyone immature enough to get a kick out of this OVER AND OVER AND OVER again. Some of the staff are nice and attentive most are too busy on their phone to greet you, heck you might even walk in for free they wouldn’t flinch. I am however grateful for the kind staff. Smiles are so welcome after all the gym should be a place people are happy to frequent. I’m gonna need to bring up the gym guests again. Clean up after yourselves and re-rack! It’s not just the staff. I go to this xsport location when I’m pressed on time and I’m so grateful for the workouts I get . A generous 3 stars for this gym. I will pay more for quality. Food for thought.

Cancelled my membership. WAY too overcrowded, takes a long time to get a flat bench (only 2). Also only 2 showers for the entire gym. No sauna. The low cost is not worth the time you’ll waste waiting for equipment. Maybe they could get rid of some of the 700 treadmills and put in more flat benches.

One squat rack and normally the trainers like to take it up for an hour straight so that no one else can use it. Half the time the paper towel dispensers are empty. Garbage is overflowing. One urinal is usually broken. No one puts weights away. Place needs some TLC and common gym courtesy and it could be great gym. But until then...two stars.

Two stars because this gym is conveniently a quick walk from my house but gym has got to get better treadmills!!!! There’s literally only two good ones. Half of them are out of order, two of half that are in order either won’t incline or has an issue with the speed display. Most people don’t clean up after themselves or put away equipment properly which is a big pet peeve of mine. However, the janitors are amazing and I constantly see them wiping down equipment and cleaning. I think Xsport makes enough profit to ensure they have the best equipment, I feel like they’re neglecting this location.

It’s a good gym that gets the job done. People seem to complain in these reviews a lot about “disarray”, but honestly it’s not nearly as dramatic as it’s made out to be. At the end of the day, there’s all the equipment you need, and a pretty friendly staff. I have never had a big problem with anything at this gym except for crowding sometimes, but even that isn’t frequent. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here.

Belmont & Sawyer location. This is my first gym experience. I swore I would never use a gym, I just didn’t see the point when you can work out at home. Then I realized I don’t have the self accountability to work out at home lol so I decided to join this gym a few months ago. It was a bit overwhelming but definitely have gotten used to it. Esteban, one of the managers has been so great and has made my gym experience very positive from day one. Anytime I’ve had a question (personal training sessions, membership questions, etc) he’s been able to help which I truly appreciate. I now frequent the gym and will continue to do so. This was the case two years ago and it's the case still in 2021 you would think with COVID still being around there would be a little more importance for patrons to clean equipment there is seriously like 3 or 4 of 7 dispensers broken and the ones not broken are always empty. The Air is always off and it smells sooooo bad. This gym is poorly ran Specially after Angel left as Manager he was very attentive to clients needs they mention on the intercom for people to wear masks as the staff wears them halfway.
Dispensers are always busted and bathrooms are always dirty. They rely too much on ONE person to have the restrooms clean.

Half the equipment is either broke or close to it. The employees could care less whether patrons have masks on even though it's mandatory. You'll be lucky if they properly clean the gym after a few weeks. It would be a decent gym of it was ran better.
It appears that they don't require masks in the gym either! I'm wearing one since it's required my the city but this gym seemed to get around that! Workers don't seem to call anyone out for it so go right ahead.

This place just gets worse and worse. Nothing ever works. All the standalone adjustable benches are broken and have been for some time now. Once something goes down its down for months. Weights are never re-racked or put away. Nothing is actually taken care of. Fully functioning treadmills? Forget about it. The water fountains have been closed since they re-opened. In that time period that could have easily installed a water bottle filling station but just decided to close it off with chairs. This level of quality is totally unacceptable.

I signed up for a training session. I SPECIFICALLY asked if I can cancel if I did not want to Continue after the first month. He said it was fine. I only paid for one month. I didn’t even get to completely start to training session because my trainer didn’t work there anymore.??? Like why wasn’t I notified. Anyways I got into an accident and I can’t continue the gym for awhile. I call twice they say I won’t get charged for the training since I’m calling before the pay period etc. i understand the monthly payment because I still want to continue when I go back. okay I call back today to double check and then they tell me call cooperate. They said the agreement I made was three months I can’t cancel. So the trainer I had, I asked if I could cancel before hand. he said yes as long as it’s before the next pay period not three days. No thanks. So I can’t get refunded either cause it’s passed three days.🙄🤦🏽♀️ That I initially asked if I could cancel anytime before I was told was fine.

Worst customer service ever. Someone works out in this location and could believe it’s for free, USD 0 and for that reason employees are upset all the time . Sep 4th, 2021 2:30 - 2:45 pm I could see a guy working out without a mask, nobody said anything. Can I work out tomorrow without wearing a face mask? Is it mandatory only for some people? Not only that guy, there were people wearing the mask in their chins. You can check out your recording cameras and you will see what I’m talking about. I’m Considering canceling my membership or quit going to this location.

There’s a huge culture/mess problem here. Members do not clean up after themselves—so it’s impossible to know if a machine is in use or not… also very difficult to find equipment since it’s scattered all over instead of put away.
Staff seems to be more concerned with charging their phones than keeping the gym well maintained. A gym should be a well kept community where each member takes care of the equipment and communicates with one another. Not the case here.
Also, one squat rack makes it difficult to get in. And, not much room for functional workouts like walking lunges, etc.

At the Logan Blvd. location:I would give it a 5 b/c of the type of equipments and sauna it has in the gym, but there are too many equipments [4-stairmasters,2 hip AB/AD-ductor, etc.]with signs, not available for use. Sometimes there is no sign that it's broken, but you realize machine is also broken. I do like this gym b/c of the variety of workout equipments, big basketball court, swimming pool, stretch room/spaces, lots of sunshine through the glass window when you work out, and the convenient location near shopping/errand destinations, eg.,Target, Dollar Tree, restaurants, Chase, Starbuck-2+ blocks away walking distance across the street. The fitness trainers are AWESOME! Some are really advance and highly qualified.

I loved the location, it was my home gym. I always had a good vibe with the employees. But this last year was not great in many ways. The machines I loved using were the ones with the signs that were unavailable either broken or Xed for covid reasons. The final straw came when an employee came up to me as I was wiping down a machine that I just got off of and was pestering me about putting the mask over my out of breath face. I didn't comply as I was leaving anyways. That was the last straw and I made up my mind then that I could not return to this situation anymore....

Almost no mask enforcement. People not wearing masks at all, at least half wearing it below their noses. Have never seen a staff member request it be worn correctly.
Would rate it much higher, but right now, we need to keep eachother safe. Wear. The. Mask.
Update: much better, still some gym bros who think it's a preference instead of a pandemic who refuse to wear masks.

Scam gym. Won't let you cancel. Stopped charging due to covid and then started charging my account with FEES on top of it with no word what so ever. A horrible business, do not go here. I have sent a cancel letter to them several times to cancel my account and they still continue to charge me plus their 50 dollar membership fee during a PANDEMIC and HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT. I've tried removing my bank info, canceling my card, and they will find a way to CHARGE you. I have been given the go around in the gym and on the phone with corporate. a horrible vile company.

Place has changed during the lockdown, the staff are keeping the gym very nice and clean during the times like these.
Edit they have added a temperature and appointment check when entering in which is a good thing to have.
The only problem I see is the non-use of lockers, if you own a car, wear your gym clothes outside the the gym or okay with carrying your bag of clothing with your jacket around since we're heading to winter soon then you'll be okay, but a person like me who takes the bus here and has other places to go has made very difficult for me to go here

Pretty congested and busy, poor air circulation and probably a hotbed for Covid. Little mask enforcement or cleaning being done. Staff is pretty rude and nosy. Mostly trying to push sales on you.

It's not as close as I'd like it to be. But the managers as well as the members keep this gym as clean as possible, social distancing is mandatory as well as wearing a mask.

At first I had difficulty cancelling my gym membership due to Covid. I was told I had to come into the office to do so, which is very irresponsible. After writing a negative review I was contacted by a CSR (Susan Justice) who was exceptional. She got me cancelled over the phone and refunded the payments that XSport had taken.
It's a shame you have to leave a bad review to get good customer service, which XSport is clearly capable of providing judging by my very positive second experience with them.
For anyone experiencing a similar issue, I encourage you to be assertive and follow up with whomever you're speaking. It IS possible to get good service from this company.

It is good for the price, which is low. There is a large selection of machines and all the free weights you could need. It does tend to get very crowded at peak hours (it's a pretty small gym in a dense neighborhood). Sometimes it doesn't feel especially clean and broken machines often remain broken for weeks or even months. That being said, the price is very low.
Also - this location doesn't appear to be reopening after Covid. It has been closed since March and no one can be seen inside. There are even a couple windows boarded up. Hopefully it does eventually reopen.

I would say that this place is good for your basic workouts. It's typically pretty busy so I find its best to go early in the morning.
The staff is mixed with genuinely nice people. The other half of the staff are pretty rude. They like to be on their phones and make offhand remarks about people working out.
I would stay away from the pool. I was swimming doing laps and accidentally swallowed some water. It was so dirty that I almost vomited.
If you join, expect high pressure meat head sales tactics.

Convenient spot off the e-way and blue line. But due to its express nature and size, it is packed and smelly. There are usually machines that are not working. Staff gets to them within a few days. Staff can be really friendly or preoccupied.

They don't renew the equipment and the same old machines still there making alot of noise when someone is working out. $49.00 every year for keeping the equipment in a good condition and is not true.. lockers smell really bad sometimes ,. I really hope if I cancel my membership they don't Tell I have to pay the next month Because when I signed up I paid the first and last month when they charged me, saying that's the way it has to be. But I know they always lie to the customers.

This location is seriously for just guys. I cannot workout here, it smells during peak hours. It’s so small!!! I was one of maybe 3-4 women total and there was about 20 total members. The smell was revolting, I had to walk out.
Although exclusive, I prefer Pipers Alley location.

It's adequate and for the most part peaceful. Except Sunday morning where a young girl kept yapping on her phone and talking loudly. Super annoying. I wish the staff would walk the floor more and catch those type of things or clean the machines.

The account hold process and cancellation process was terrible. Filled out the hold paperwork and called numerous times after they had failed to put my account on hold and kept charging me. The manager and staff are useless and neglectful if you are doing anything but giving them money. Constantly left on hold, and when I called my bank to block their payments, they transferred my payments to another locations to continue charging me. When calling corporate, they had received none of my requests, leaving me to send a physical letter to the corporate office for cancellation.

Worst gym ever. Had to fill out cancellation paperwork twice and they still haven't properly canceled my membership. After the second time canceling, they even upped the price of the membership. Had to contact my credit card company to let them know they were trash. Save your paperwork when you cancel because they will screw you over
