Kelly is the best! My cousin snd I were newbies and came to one of her hot classes in person when I was visiting Chicago (they weren’t kidding, it was super hot!). The studio vibes were great and welcoming with tea and cozy places to sit. Since then I’ve continued to take her yin classes via livestream as I’m able! I always feel so relaxed and sleep great after 💜

I love this place!! So warm and welcoming - I’m so grateful to have found ZYG!! I don’t take classes as often as I’d like yet lol but every time I go there I’m warmly welcomed and I feel so lucky to have found this space and family! The classes are such a great variety too. Something for all different vibes and levels of challenge!

I’ve been to many studios bc I like to try new places. They charge for mats. Which I’ve never experience and there was way too many people , no zen energy. Just the smell of feet 😂

Wholesome studio with friendly, caring staff!! Was visiting from Sweden & wanted to squeeze in a quick class. Tried out Zen Burn with Carly and had such a good time! It was a perfect Sunday challenge with the right amount of warmup and cooldown. Looking forward to another Chicago visit so I can come back ❤️

I live in California and take all of my classes at ZYG online. I love how I am able to take a live class through their streaming service or Zoom multiple times a week. I also utilize their vast replay library. Several of the teachers - particularly Asher, Bradshaw, Jen Le Vine and Jane are exceptional at queuing so I can make the little adjustments I need to get the pose right.
UPDATE: just took Lisa Conlon’s class in person while visiting Chicago and she is fantastic. She can be intimidating when taking an online class but she is so nice and encouraging in person:)

Walked by this studio and it pulled me in.
Attended a yin class with Kelly and it was the most nourishing yin class I’ve ever experienced.
The whole studio is gorgeous and I can tell so much TLC and attunement has led to such a powerful sanctuary.

Honestly, my experience was nowhere near Zen. It gave nothing but GARAGE. I took a "zen" Pilates class at 7AM, I walked in and there were like 25-30 people in one studio(~300-500sqft). Like is there not a max capacity? Limit? Restriction? Luckily, I found one open spot in the front but if anyone walked in after me they would literally have to step on someone else. Even doing the workout I couldn't even do the full stretch because my foot would have hit another persons face. Lovely! The instructor was not giving zen at all, either. It felt like I was in a 90s workout video with the instructor enthusiastically yelling at me which was not on my 7am Sunday morning bucket list. Definitely worked up a sweat—just not the kind of inner peace you’d expect from something labeled Zen Pilates.

Recently, my friend and I took a hot yoga class on Saturday. The room was PACKED, and people were very unfriendly about moving their mats to make space for others. The teacher tried her best to get people to move, but she could only do so much. After class, my friend and I were in the locker room
speaking (in Spanish) to eachother, and EVERYONE was giving us dirty looks, to the point where even my friend mentioned that she felt uncomfortable. While I understand that this is not a direct reflection of the studio, it is unfortunate that your clientele is ruining the yoga experience for new members by being disrespectful bigots. My friend and I will not be returning. Shocking to see a yoga studio in Chicago be filled with such hateful people. Do better, Zen Yoga.

Zen Yoga Garage is simply the best! So many reasons to love it! I appreciate that they offer so many different class choices throughout any given day, ranging from a variety of hard-core workout classes like Hot, Vinyassa, and Barre, to extremely relaxing evening sessions of Yin, Nidra, and Restorative. The range of class choices is unsurpassed compared to other studios I have been to. I am so grateful I discovered this wonderful yoga community, right in the heart of Wicker Park, Chicago. I can tell how much love goes into running this place and I wish them nothing but the best. 5+ stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have been to a few other studios in the area and this is the best so far. Very pleasant front desk staff, knowledgeable teachers, great amenities, consistent schedule. My only remark (not a complaint) is that some classes are too pilates-y. For example, the the 12 o'clock one- no need for endless squats when you have a proven, milenia-old, discipline, that helps you tone your body and maintain/lose weight (I am living proof :) ). Let's flow more and squat less. Can't wait for my next class.

I have nothing but great things to say about ZYG. When I moved to Logan Square I was struggling to find some place to work out, and my awesome friend Gina took me to my first class here (with Bradshaw!) and I was immediately hooked. I feel the practice has really elevated my mindfulness and helped me become a more patient and reflective person.
The unlimited pricing is awesome and competitive with other unlimited memberships at other studios. The class variety and quality is unmatched. I’m a total burn addict - I take 4-5 burns a week. I couldn’t pick my fave teacher if I tried, they’re all amazing. Jen, Cierra, and Steve (cannot express how much I will miss his classes) would always bring the best music. Lisa and Cheyne have made me see the light on multiple occasions 😂 but I’m still absolutely addicted.
Overall - worth every penny! I will continue to take classes here until I move out of the city. Be careful with parking though on Milwaukee - it’s not available year round! Got a ticket to realize but haven’t made the same mistake since.

I love this community, the teachers are truly amazing, the space is welcoming and clean, there is so much variety to choose from when it comes to classes. I usually do a mix of barre and yoga and I feel so strong after every class. They offer coffee and tea if you like to chat with your teachers or other class takers, and people are very respectful if you like to keep to yourself as well.
I’ve been a part of the trade program at Zen for over two years, I’m so thankful that I’m able to take as many classes as I want and also contribute positively to the studio.

One of my absolute favorite yoga 🧘🏾♀️ studios in the city! There are sooo many fun & engaging class options for every level! One of my favorite things is that you can take a barre class, a burn class, or a power yoga flow if you want to engage your body/ muscles in a different type of activity. The locker rooms/bathroom is always sooo clean & the space is aesthetically pleasing. It’s also so great to see so many different types of people/bodies practicing here and the location is so fabulous b/c there are so many yummy brunch options nearby after I take a Saturday/Sunday morning class. The staff are soooo kind as well! Unlike at other studios I’ve been to in the city, I never feel judged or less than if I’m not doing advanced poses or wearing the most expensive alo yoga fit. I can tell that folks who teach at Zen really truly practice the principles of yoga on and off the mat & they collaborate with so many organizations around the city to pour equity back into populations who might be less likely to learn about and practice yoga. Highly recommend!!!

Zen Yoga Garage is so much more than a Yoga studio. It is a community centered around inclusivity and knowledge and the shared experience; not just get in, work out and get out. I love this studio so much! The teachers are great, the studios clean, and there are so many class times and formats. When I want a challenge I’ll take a burn or vinyasa 2-3 class Or if my nervous system needs a break, I’ll go to a restorative class. It’s truly such a welcoming community where there’s an offering for everyone. 10/10 recommend!!

Love the teachers coming on to say the teachers here are the best.. fishy reviews. None of the workers here are paid, and a lot of them seem anxious and stressed. Every class is hot - even if there is no heat on the room temp builds up to high 80s without ventilation, gross. I had always been in good shape across multiple gyms but Zen Yoga Garage is the one place where I became less fit over time. Start your new year somewhere else, and you may actually meet your new years resolution.

Cannot say enough amazing things about this space and this community. It is the only yoga studio in Chicago that I feel welcomed and included. All the teachers I have taken are knowledgeable and present for their students. They have space in the lobby to hang before and after class, they even offer free coffee and tea for their students. Their class offerings truly have something for EVERY one and every body. Huge plus, they have over 5000 classes in their online portal as well. You can take from anywhere, anytime. Truly never thought I’d find a studio that really prioritizes finding moving meditation. So many studios feel corporate and too focused on losing weight but Zen Yoga Garage gives me an intense workout and peace at the same time. There aren’t strict levels to classes, so class might feel advanced if you’re new to yoga, but I’ve never felt pressure to be perfect or not mess up. So grateful I found this place.

My favorite studio so far in the area - the instructors are consistently good, good pacing and flow, and it’s not too hot in the room (I find Corepower tends to be so hot/steamy that I don’t enjoy it).
Mat rentals are pricy at $3 though and I found them to be very slippery (it’s the beeyootiful brand). Only paid street parking available along Milwaukee or hope to get lucky on a side street, so plan ahead if you’re driving.

I have mixed feelings about Zen Yoga Garage. I was very excited to try a class after walking by a barre workout that was happening. I should have taken Zen Barre instead of Zen Burn. The facilities are clean, modern and spacious, and there are a wide variety of classes to choose from. However I think that the class descriptions should be updated to be more explanatory to those not familiar with yoga and specifically hot yoga. For example, the Zen Burn class states that the room is warmed to 85-95 degrees (it was 94) and that the movements are weighted yoga moments with bursts of cardio. I didn't see any disclaimers that the class was not suitable for those new to yoga and it definitely would not be suitable for most pregnant women unless you are accustomed to hot yoga. Also I felt like the instructors should ask if anyone is new to help give them more guidance vs. assuming everyone knows the class format and what weights to grab etc. And it would be helpful if the class scheduled clearly indicated which classes are in the space with fresh air. This studio is well suited to those experienced with yoga, but not so much beginners.

I've been here a couple of weeks and the best time for me is early in the morning to do yoga or exercise. The morning classes are different from one another since the teachers are different every day. I like this because I want to be able to change it around but with the same schedule. I just signed up for the unlimited classes so I'll be coming back, there are a couple of teachers who cue the poses very well while a couple of others are still in the process of doing that. Plenty of classes to choose from, traditional to workout type, will keep coming back. Plenty of Paid parking, or park around the corner for free, showers are available and you can rent the mats if you need to.

Love ZYG! This is my new yoga place - and the only place where I've bit the bullet and become a member. The sheer number of classes per day paired with the variety is just unbeatable. There's no reason not to go. If you want a hardcore workout, the barre and burn classes deliver and then some. Want to chill? Vin Yin will stretch you out and help you relax. Also, sometimes there's wine. Best of all, EVERY teacher I've had class with has been a true yogi. I feel like they live and breath the yoga lifestyle here. No drill sargents, no one pushing you to go beyond what feels manageable, no "yoga's super trendy right now so I'm going to act like I'm better than you" attitude. You know what I'm talking about. Everyone is happy to see you, welcomes you to class and wants you to listen to your body and leave feeling great. And I always do! Actually, maybe I shouldn't give this place such a good review. I don't want my fave classes to start getting too crowded!

Go here and grab your free week and stay for the knowledgeable teachers and great atmosphere. This brand new studio is surrounded by tons of parking (pay sadly) and is easy to get to. The Western Blue line isn't too far away. Piper, the owner, is remarkably genuine and really interested in furthering your practice. I also had Emma as a teacher for a basically private class (no one else had come) and she helped me fix my tights shoulders and perfect some poses. I feel like I learned more in a week than I had in quite awhile. Ohh and also cool, the studio is housed in a redone garage. Worth a check just for the interesting architecture.

Tried this place numerous times while on Classpass. It's beautiful with great concept, and I wish I love it more, but unfortunately classes always left much to be desired in terms of depth of teaching. Classes are often physically focused, and the teachers are only modestly experienced. The cute little saying and teachings just felt lacking in depth. I think this is a great place to try if you just want yoga as a physical workout, but in terms of the spiritual and mind connections, you are better of going with a studio with more established teachers.

I recommend Monika Marynowski for hardcore yoga workout. She is fantastic and push you over your limit and you will definitely sweat like a pig.
Friendly staff tho sometime no one is present at the front desk and door is locked during class time. Best to arrive ten minutes early and might have to wait until door open for next class.

I tried Zen Yoga Garage out when they first opened because a friend told me about the place. ZYG is very nice and relaxing on the inside, with simple materials and colors that are needed to find your Zen after a long day or week of work. Who needs distractions? I took the Zen Yoga Barre class for the first time ever and the instructor was very knowledgeable and conscientious that I was a beginner, by coming over to make sure I was in the appropriate position as to not harm myself. I recently completed the 200 hour yoga teacher training program at ZYG. If you are thinking about it, let me be the first to tell you that you won't regret taking the plunge! This was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. It is created for all levels of yogis (beginner to advanced) and welcomes all. I was a beginner when I started the program and I not only improved my physical practice, but deepened my spiritual practice on and off the mat as well. The teachers take the time to ensure that you understand what is being taught and make themselves available for any questions via email/phone/etc. The studio is home to a loving community of people and makes you feel like you're one of the family. They offer a wide variety of classes so there is something for everyone.
Thank you to Piper and all of the other teachers who spend hours guiding the trainers during these 10 weeks. "When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you'll never get back". I am very grateful for this!!

Chicago's top independent yoga studio! Wide variety of class formats and teaching styles, open to all levels. Lots of great special events including live music, wine tasting, free community classes and kids yoga. Registered 200 Hour Yoga School has trained more working instructors than any other independent school in Chicago! A family owned and operated since 2013. So much to love!
