I have been working with Mahony and his team (Olivia and Sam) for about three months now. They are all very knowledgable and really take personal training to a new level. They take time to talk you through your exercise and nutrition plan, make sure you are handling each piece of it safely and effectively and motivate you throughout it all. From somebody that really used to hate the gym, I love spending my time at Evolve because they truly have helped me change not only my body but my mentality!

I started training with Mahony after a long break from exercise post-kids. At the time, I just wanted to start moving again and slowly work toward feeling stronger and in control of something in my life. When I started out I was hesitant- I didn’t want someone to bark orders at me or make me feel guilty—I needed someone who could meet me where I was and help me rebuild at my own pace. That’s exactly what Mahony did.
He has this way of encouraging you without ever making you feel pressured or judged. He never pushed things I didn’t want or wasn’t ready for, but he always kept me moving forward. Even on the days when I was dragging and didn’t feel like showing up, I always left our sessions feeling better—more energized, more capable, and glad I had showed up for myself that day.
Over time, and with a lot of consistency, I ended up losing over 35 pounds! I can’t overstate how much Mahony’s support, guidance, and steady presence made a difference. He always believed in me, even on the days I didn’t.

With double hip replacement, I could barely stand up. Mahony was God sent! He helps to build strength and muscle in my legs/lower body and, as a bonus, loss weight. He made me focus on my diet and changes just to be healthy. Learned so much! Definitely will recommend him to anyone finishing up physical therapy and wishing to continue training.

My husband suggested we work with a personal trainer who’d been recommended to him. I’ve never been consistent at working out and gave up on past programs when I didn’t see results. Well working with Mahoney has completely changed that. I went into things with a bit of a closed mind but I was willing to give it a try. I outlined my goals to Mahoney and he set forth recommendations for how I could achieve them without going into an overly aggressive workout schedule, one I knew I wouldn’t have the stamina to maintain. My main goal was functional strength. If I lost weight, that was a bonus. He helped me from both a diet and fitness standpoint. He helped me understand what I needed to be doing in my diet to better help my well being. And he’s helped me become physically stronger. I’ve lost size and weight along the way which is very rewarding and I’m eating better. I feel measurably better and I am so much stronger. I’ve been doing remote personal training (through trainerize) with Mahony since the beginning of 2023 because I knew it was time for me to lose the weight I had gained in college. I’ve lost more then 10 lbs and he is super understanding of when I have busier weeks and remains encouraging!!! He checks in through the app often and helps adjust or give tips for when I have any confusion or concerns. I feel super accomplished having established an effective and realistic workout routine and I’m excited to reach my future goals working with Mahony!

Before I started working with Mahony at Evolve a few years ago, I struggled constantly with my weight. I hated how my favorite clothes fit on me (or didn’t fit at all anymore). I also lacked the motivation to exercise regularly and maintain healthier eating habits. I’d do it for a while, then get frustrated at the lack of progress and give up.
Mahony is great at not only the physical aspect of personal training, but he also offers practical insight into my eating habits and how my job stress likely contributed to plateaus in weight loss. He gives easy to follow advice on how to manage these things in a non-judgemental way.
It doesn’t matter if you have 100 lbs to lose or just “those last 10 lbs”, he treats you with respect and compassion and keeps you motivated.
At age 50, I am now in better shape than I was in my 30’s. I would highly recommend Evolve personal training to anyone who is struggling with achieving their fitness goals on their own. It’s the only thing that has worked for me!

I’ve been working out with Mahoney since November 2021 and was pretty nervous and also a little scared to be honest the first time I went. But I knew I needed it. I’ve done the dieting, Pilates, gym and Peloton during my life. I still had baby weight to lose and I needed the accountability to help get me on track. It just starts with one step and one drip of sweat and the rest is history. I’ve lost 27 lbs since November and it’s not even losing the weight that’s the best part, it’s feeling stronger than I ever have in my entire life, being happy mentally and physically, and showing my now three year old how cool it is to be strong and have a healthy lifestyle. I have been training with Mahoney for nearly 1 year. Throughout this year, I’ve lost 35 pounds & a significant % of body fat. Initially, weight loss was the most important thing to me. Over this last year I have lost weight, but I have also gained much more than I ever could have imagined by training with Mahoney. Training with him is truly different than any other experience I’ve had. Mahoney will guide you from the very beginning with nutrition, home workouts, form, recovery, etc. and is attentive to any questions you have.
