I will turn 70 in October (when you are young time seems to move slowly but as you age the years seem like days). I have been trying to stay in shape and run almost every day. Although my legs are in pretty good shape, my mid-section and upper body are way behind. I have read that staying in shape is important to lower the risk of illness, improving physical function and maintaining independence. So now what do I do?

I heard a commercial on the radio about Exercise Inc. that offers 20 minutes of low-impact strength training only one time every week. This sounded great because it would not take that much of my time if it really worked. I finally decided to give them a call and connected with Susan who became the personal trainer that guides me through each weekly workout.

Each week you workout on 5 different machines (there are way more than 5 of these machines). Each machine is set up to exercise a specific set of muscles. Your personal trainer will rotate you through the different machines each week in a way that is compatible with your body type. You spend a maximum of 3 minutes on each machine. I say maximum because the goal is to cause you to get so tired that you physically cannot complete the 3 minute period. In the beginning I was able to complete the 3 minutes. However, each time I could complete the 3 minutes Susan would increase the weight the next week. I have been going to Exercise Inc. now for over 1/2 year and I can say that she has done her job well. There are some of the machines that I am able to complete the 3 minutes although it is difficult while on others I cannot complete the 3 minutes. When I say cannot complete what happens is that all of a sudden I am pushing or pulling and I just cannot move the machine any more. Slowly but surely she is getting me to fail the 3 minute time on all of them. When I am able to complete the 3 minute period (where I had previously failed) then she increases the weight again and congratulates me reminding me that I am getting stronger. While you are doing the exercise they want you to take 10 seconds to push (some are pull) all the way out and then 10 seconds to come back to the starting position. The point is to do them slowly. The exercises are done in a room that is kept in the 60s. I have never broken a sweat in any of my workouts. When I complete my workout it is not uncommon to see me walking very slowly out of the place because I am physically spent.

They also offer a free/optional program called the Simple 9 nutritional program which is really more than 9. They stress developing healthy "habits" which cover more than just dietary considerations. When I started at Exercise Inc I was beginning to gain weight again (even though I was running). At this point I have lost about 10 pounds which I am happy with given that I am no longer gaining weight. Also, it is my understanding that the muscles will burn more calories which should help keep off the weight.

If you are considering an exercise program you should look into Exercise Inc. You will be glad that you did!

Have been involved with Exercise Inc for at least four years. The exercise program is amazing. I started in Avon when I was searching for help with my hips. I would not sleep through the night waking up due to the pain in my hips. I learned how important it is to keep your muscles strong to keep my bones working well. Within a month no more hip pain! No hip replacement. I’m now seeing Susan at the Fishers location. Much better for “eastsiders” than driving to Avon. I can't say enough good things about Exercise Inc
Susan is great, she's helping me get my strength back. I can't be 30 again, but with Susan's help I can be a better 60! I didn't believe it at first, 20 minutes, once a week, but she said give it a couple of visits. 6 months into it, and love it. Becareful though, she likes to add weight when you're not looking. You really should give this a try! I’d worked with Kyle at Exercise Inc in Zionsville for a number of years. I was thrilled when Exercise Inc opened in Fishers and Kyle was named manager. The facility is more convenient but I get the same great workout! It doesn’t seem like 20 minutes a week would make much difference but it does. Been working w exercise Inc since 2009. I value the personal one on one aspect of this training. It’s an intense 15-20 min workout that if you do it right, will leave you breathless and invigorated. This is a game changer!

Time under tension changes everything. Exercise Inc is prime for the people who are busy and their time is valuable. It allows you to get impressive results with a 20 minute workout once a week.

I'm back for my second round as an Exercise Inc client. I worked with Kyle Truitt up in Zionsville. An unexpected surgery and distance from the facility forced me to give it up for a time. However, I was thrilled when Kyle let me know they were opening a facility in Fishers and he was going to run it. I am now back to working with Kyle every week. This is a great program for me. I have a very busy life and I never cease to marvel at how 20 minutes a week has helped my muscle tone and how I feel in general. It's also added some pop to my pickleball game.
