On October 9th 2025 at approximately 11am at the YMCA I, a 60yo Hispanic female, and my son who is severely autistic and non verbal were in the swimming area when a rude and racist white female approached me and demanded that we move lane because "these people ACTUALLY pay for their memberships and lessons" implying that we do not pay for our membership. She was so embarrassed and upset. Typically they are asked to move by other employees and they are kind and we comply with no issues. Today the female, Margot, even went as far as to ask the swim class she was with and ask them how much they paid for the class to which some replied in low voices "up to $100 " for the swim class. For a family environment, this is so disrespectful and similar to Margot seeing the members at the location in a "tier" manner where she only cares about those who pay for $100 classes. Again, we pay for our membership and wanted to bring this to light so margot gets a reality check on the world in 2025. this behavior is unacceptable at a YMCA. We have not had any issues since 2016 that we have been going to the ymca until today and left a very bad taste in our mouth. Hopefully this is an isolated incident and Margot gets the proper training to fix her outlook on the members of the Y.

Cindy was very rude while handling my issue. No kindness when handling people. I would also just like to let you all know that I tried to cancel my membership and they continued to charge my account for 2 months and blame me for it.
Cindy, this was a YMCA issue, not a customer issue. Please be kinder to people seeking help ππΎπ«ΆπΎ

We joined primarily for the outdoor pool for summer with the expectation we'd be able to use it from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. While it's technically open that long, the last 2 weeks of summer have hours cut out of the day for swim lessons. Unfortunately those hours are the ones between school/work and dinner which is the only time we can come. This wasn't communicated ahead of time and on top of it, the online schedule wasn't updated to say the outdoor pool wasn't available. This wasn't the first time the online schedule was inaccurate for us and at this point I don't feel like I can trust what it says. The pool was nice, but with options that can last longer for us and with better hours, it just doesn't seem worth it to return to the y for just the summer. The hours for the outdoor pool once the swim lessons took over just weren't accommodating for families with 2 working parents.

As a patron for 3+ years with a love for this facility, it pains me to leave this review. I am a competitive bodybuilder who uses this facility 3-5 times per week. Equipment goes down frequently and stay down for weeks to now months at a time. When asking faculty, I get, βthe part has been ordered.β Nothing else. I can order these parts and get the equipment up sooner with Amazon and YouTube videos at this point. I hear several other gym goers complain and share the same disappointment. Please, please, pleaseβ¦ fix the equipment that we all so desperately want and need.

I am torn about giving this rating. First, when I get a survey, I wish it had something other then how likely are you to recommend the Y to friends. There ought to be free input about any concerns or kudos.
Secondly, I am only giving this rating because of the pool. There are so many other things that are good ,including many good people. I believe in offering grace as well but swimmers are consistly disregarded, especially in the summer. For many of us, this is our only exercise for good reason and 2 lanes in the summer in a sweat filled , hotter pool is not good. Good luck getting a lane too and they are shorter as well. The schedule on line is not accurate. When I just now called the Ft. BEN Y to consider an alternative, they said for now the indoor pool is open 5:15 to 1 pm but that could change daily. When I asked for those of us that might drive 30 minutes the best way to know if their indoor pool was open, sge said to call. What are the chances of reaching someone at 5:15?
Lessons, classes, camp, and swim team seam to have precedent over us long term members who legitimately just want to swim.

My favorite YMCA of the five that I utilize. Has all of the machines I would ever need or want. The FreeMotion machines here aren't at the Y's at Ft Ben, Jordan, Ransburg or Irsay. When I'm feeling motivated for a "full" workout with lots of accessory work, this is the one I go to. Multiple options for leg press, leg curl, lat pulldown, seated/assisted dips, even calves. They even have a tibialis machine!
This is also the top pick for my kids when it comes to the Play & Learn area. They have the most space and variety of activities here, and the staff has been great with them.
There's a Subway in this Y. That's pretty sweet. The Nickel Plate Trail is a stone's throw away from the parking lot.
I'd give a 4.8 if I could, because there's no sauna here. Please, PLEASE, if you can find a way to renovate and build one, do it.

I started attending this YMCA location in October 2024 after my rheumatologist said I should try swimming (I have chronic health conditions including early-onset osteoarthritis and a connective tissue autoimmune disease), and there happened to be a promotion for no join fee and a month free. I'm so glad I did! Long review incoming because I know I appreciate detail (I'm autistic and like knowing things in advance) and maybe someone else will too. π
All of the staff I've met are super friendly and informative. When you sign up they give you a tour, and the woman who did mine was really nice and answered every question I had (and mostly even before I asked!). Extra shout out to Chip for being a wonderful human being!
I'm in the LGBTQIA+ community and the staff have been so welcoming and kind, and I haven't had a bad experience with anyone at all yet even though I look pretty different (I guess you could say "alternative" π
). For trans and non-binary folks, when you sign up you can use a "preferred" name if your legal name and the name you chose for yourself are different, and you can self-select from male/female/non-binary gender information for their records. There are designated men's and women's locker rooms, as well as a 3rd gender neutral area for families, mixed gender adults & kids under 18, people with disabilities, and/or people who need a neutral totally private area.
The facilities are clean and really nice, everything feels just really well maintained and "new" even though it's not a brand new location. The locker rooms have a plethora of toilets, showers in an enclosed area, lockers, several private changing areas, counter space with mirrors, and a swimsuit dryer. If you forget a lock, you can ask at the front check-in desk for one and they just take your ID as collateral. I appreciate that the rules and guidelines are clearly stated on the walls; I like having expectations laid out before doing things to help with my anxiety.
For those with disabilities / accessibility needs, there are chair lifts for seated entry to the pools and the program pool (the smaller, shallow warm one) has an entry with a gently sloped ramp without steps on one end. I haven't ventured into the gyms but they look really nice and never too crowded at the times I go, even in the after work 5-7pm range. I'm told that there's a hand pedal exercise machine (I can't remember if it's called a hand bike or elliptical) for people who have arm strength but are more limited in the hips and legs. My only complaint with accessibility is that the locker rooms are about as far away from the entrance as possible with a long walk down two hallways, but that's not something that is changeable. The program pool can also get really loud during open swim, but I bring my noise-dampening wireless earbuds.
I only currently use the pools for low impact exercise but I love the setup of the two pools, ease of access, the temperature of the program pool (warmer and gentle on joints!), and the two classes I have attended intermittently. LIFE (low impact for everyone) cardio with Tanya is so fun and she's fabulous! She shows multiple ways to do the exercise depending on your ability level. I'm the youngest person that I've seen in the class by about 30 years but everyone is so kind and welcoming (and they kick my butt in class, good lord). I was invited to lunch on my very first day going to the class, which was really nice even though I didn't take them up on that. For kids, there are some water features and splashy things that they always seem to enjoy! There's also quite large hot tub in the lap pool area that runs too hot for me to put my whole body in it, but I like resting my legs on the edge and other people seem to like the temperature (not a complaint, I'm just sensitive to heat and wanted to mention that for other people who may have a similar lower tolerance!).
Overall I'm very happy I joined and I tell my local friends that it's a great location. I just really love the whole environment at the Y! π

I must say, it was an incredible experience! The coaches were not only knowledgeable but also extremely supportive, making sure every player felt included and motivated. The facilities were top-notch, providing a safe and clean environment for all the activities.
The program was well-structured, with a perfect balance of skill development, teamwork, and fun. I particularly appreciated the emphasis on sportsmanship and personal growth, which made the experience enriching beyond just the physical aspect of the game. The drills and exercises were engaging and tailored to different skill levels, ensuring that everyone could improve at their own pace.
Overall, the YMCA basketball program exceeded my expectations. It was a fantastic way to stay active, learn new skills, and make new friends. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy basketball in a positive and encouraging atmosphere. Keep up the great work, YMCA team!

Pool and Pool Director Awful.
Used this location for 3 years and finally had enough of the ongoing pool issues to decide to never return and stay at the Indy and Lawrence location.
The anxiety I had taking my kids to the pool and not sure if it would be open or close while using it was enough too never return.
The pool director is lazy and wouldnβt get up from her desk to solve an issue that was knocking on her door. I watched it with my own eyes. Even saw her yell at a guest in front of other guest and her employees, lowbrow. After this βdirectorβpointed the guest out to others in the room like a line up.
Plus the facilities ongoing amenities break so they never get fixed and then one day theyβre gone. One time took them 6 weeks to fix a door lock for 1 of 3 family restrooms. Having 3 bathrooms vs 2 for little families is great but the Y puts no urgency on anything.

Pretty decent looking facility. Has two basketball courts, pool, child daycare. The gym gets pretty busy even on off hours but itβs a popular place, and more and more people are working remote. I understand!
My only criticism is the weight lifting facility. It has plenty of bench press and squat racks but only has one lat pull down machine (in less than average condition), one hamstring curl machine. Machines also need to be updated and are out of order. Crossing my fingers that they add new and more equipment. The gym needs a facelift!

THE POOL IS CLOSED 1PM TO 4PM. EDIT: SOMETIMES THEY CLOSE THE POOL AT 12:45. 15 minutes early, whenever they choose.
I joined this ymca over lifetime because the location would allow me to ride my bike there and I could go swimming. But with the pool being closed, I have no time to ride the bike there so I drive. Then I have to run in the building and rise off just to get in the pool for 15min for a few laps. I'm heartbroken but at least there is NO COST TO CANCEL. Im going to have to think about how much 15mins of laps is worth. Certainly not the 50 or 60 i signed up to pay. Lifetime cost more but at least they have a sauna and all day pool access.

Poor costumer service!!! Called to see if the kids indoor pool is open, they are rude and said yes. I went to the location and the pool was closed.
Also, they had it closed for 1-2 weeks because of maintenance.
Waste of money if you want to use it for pool kids because they donβt let you to use it.
They are making rules for swim classes, and less time for everyone

First day of summer camp. My daughter was denied the tumbling class her mother paid extra for. We were level headed in thinking they would rectify or refund her, we were wrong. Also witness first hand a counselor buy a kids good behavior with candy versus making an example by rewarding good behaved kids with sweets. This place is backwards.

Fishers YMCA is a wonderful well being resource - with lots of opportunities and resources. Only a wish there was one closer to where me live. Hamilton Co needs another!

Great place for all ages! The STAFF is wonderful and super energetic. We especially appreciate the number of Silver Sneakers offering designed for seniors, but there are activities for all ages and day care too. Our adult son and daughter in law and their three kids love it too. Looking forward to spring and summer camps too. And the pool opening.
Lastly thank you for the EV plug-in. You are way ahead of the pack!

BE AWARE speed bumps in the parking lot are massive. I have a regular size sedan that isnβt lowered at all. I went over the speed bumps creeping forward with my foot on the brake and still scraped my bumper going over.
Other than that, the facility is pretty nice. Only downside is that everything is pretty close together in the weights section and itβs hard to walk around without feeling like Iβm going to bump into someone.

I showed up yesterday to go swimming. Pool was closed and they told me to call before coming next time as the pool could be closed until Monday. I've been calling for the last 30 minutes with no pickup.
