My daughters were so excited to start their gymnastics journey, but it turned out to be a very negative experience. The instructors are mostly high schoolers who seem more interested in chatting with each other than actually teaching the kids. The class sizes are way too large for the amount of supervision provided, and there is very little individual attention or guidance.
To make matters worse, they enrolled us in auto-pay without our consent and continued to charge us even though we never signed up for it. It feels like a scam.

Starting off with something positive, my kids loved Coach Olivia and Coach Taylor. Personally Coach Olivia was by far my favorite, having the right balance of talking and being relatable, while also being strict and keeping the kids on task.
Now unfortunately for the problems…
Admin:
My daughters joined in May. 2 weeks after they joined we got a team invite to their “hot shot” team… however the email literally said “______ is invited” (see attached photo) this was the first red flag because my daughters could barely due a handstand, and they didn’t have my daughter’s names. It seemed like either a ploy to get more money, or an honest mistake, I chopped it up to a mistake.
Classes:
Immediately I felt weird about the classes. I understand there are only so many Coaches, but (typically) how their classes run is the Coach is at one station helping a kid, and has them rotate through the stations. The issue I found with that is when a kid is at a station, they are usually doing the task wrong, but no one is there to correct them.
Another big issue I had was while the kids are at other stations where the coach is not, and because they are doing it incorrectly, they are more prone to get hurt. For example, I watched a kid messing around and doing something incorrectly, they landed on their head. They were luckily ok and shook it off, but there was no correction because the coach was bound to the one station.
(I don’t blame the coaches them selves for this, it seems like how the classes are structured)
Recital:
This is where things really went down hill for us…
Practice:
We decided to sign one of my daughters up because she is very passionate about gymnastics. The first week of practice we were unable to make it due to a family issue, the next week they were closed for 4th of July, the next week the owner wasn’t there to teach the recital moves. So we were already 3 weeks in and did not have one practice (once because our family emergency). Finally, the next week, she had her first practice. But the next week even though the owner wasn’t there they didn’t practice. When I questioned it, I was told that “one girl was absent so it didn’t make sense to practice” this really irritated me because when my daughter was absent due to the family emergency, the other girls still practiced, so what’s the difference? Especially when we paid for this recital and recital practice!
Photos:
They said they were going to do recital photos and there was a $20 fee for them. That was the last I heard of them until I came across their Facebook while going to write this review, no email saying “_____ recital photos” or anything. There were tons of different poses and groups in the link… my daughter was in 2 of them… I didn’t expect her to be in every one, but it did seem bare minimum.
Recital awards:
At the end of the recital they gave out awards such as being a member for certain years, perfect attendance (or made up classes), etc. My daughter was upset because she didn’t get a perfect attendance award even though she made up the one family emergency day. I asked about it and they said she had to have been enrolled since September to now (a whole year) I understand the concept but that didn’t change the fact that my daughter felt left out.
Price:
Already frustrated with all this, we then get an email that the price will be increasing by $20 ($65 to $85). This irritated me because some other places were double their price but offered way more. Now the prices are more comparable but they aren’t offering anything extra.
Alllll this aside, we wanted whatever made my daughter happy so we did a trial class at another place and let her choose. She decided to leave her friends here and go to another place.

My grand daughter was at Wright's for almost 3 years, besides the cost was about double, she wasn't progressing very much. In just about 7 months here at Gymnastics Etc. She had progressed enough to be invited onto the competition team, the Hot Shots! The staff are Absolutely Amazing! We just love it here!

I bring my daughter here, she loves it and that’s all the matters, she’s 4 so it’s not like I’m expecting her to be an Olympic, nor and I expecting the teachers to be amazing…
That being said 2 of the teachers for my daughters class, usually seem to be more interested in socializing and trying to impress and get the attention of the ninja teachers than actually teaching the kids and correcting them…
I used to bring my daughter to the Jaycie Phelps gym in greenfield, but it was just too far of a drive for me, so this will work for now 🤷🏼♀️
