I’d give it 2.5 stars. It would be the comparison to a really nice restaurant that has great food, but poor service and ambiance. In this case, it’s a great facility, but it’s not managed very well. Unlike a restaurant, there aren’t any other places that have great facilities nearby.

Classes are deafeningly loud for those who paid for a gym, not a night club. When clients have to yell to converse, that’s a problem. It has to be an OSHA violation, definitely. My wife tried a spin class, but it was too loud. CrossFit and all fitness class rooms have music so loud it sets off Apple Watches warning of extreme volume…and that’s outside the rooms in the free weight/cable areas.

Questionably clean. Most of the time the floors haven’t been cleaned in most places. Dust bunnies under, in, and around equipment. The only area that has any cleanliness is the CrossFit area, but that’s not on the sign out front. Hancock Health is on the sign, but they let CrossFit take over most everything upstairs.

Thought I was paying for a place to Make Health Possible, not make people deaf and dirty.

I went to the gym today at lunch and someone pooped in the hot tub. While they put tape around the hot tub, there was still poop floating at the top. They did not do their due diligence to check other areas of the restrooms and that same person put their poop filled shorts in the swimsuit dryer.
I did not realize that until I pulled my shorts out of the dryer. I got someone else’s poop all over my hands.
To make things worse, they would not even pay for infectious disease testing. I will not be renewing my membership.

I joined the HancockWellness Center almost 4 years ago when my previous gym on E. Washington declined in both quality and cleanliness. I have been very pleased with New Palestine’s three different pool options, as that is the only portion of the center I use. I like that they make available pool noodles, buoys, and other pool equipment, so I don’t have to lug my own in every morning. They periodically send out surveys on how to improve their facilities, and actually follow through on some of your suggestions. The front desk is manned by capable people; and Denise is a super star at this position. My only complaint would be when areas like the hot tub, sauna, or steam room go down, it takes a long time for repairs to happen. There is a family feel to this place, as I have made several new friends and acquaintances either while waiting to check in, or sharing the lap pool or sitting in the hot tub. I also appreciate that the mornings are restricted solely to adults only as this old retired teacher appreciates starting her mornings now with peace and calm.

My experience has been a very "mixed bag." The facility is nice. The stench of weed and cursing teenagers in the evening, not so nice. I do appreciate the opportunity to participate in the Cancer Fit Program. However, yhe front desk staff is a constant challenge, as is scheduling. Also, communication has not been very good, I have gotten blamed for not knowing that which isn't communicated, scheduling is a real challenge, and when the class actually starts up, compared to the scheduled start time seems entirely random. I don't know if my experience is representative (hopefully not), but based on my experience, I would rather go to a gym more consistent and less chaotic. And with much better communication.

I would recommend they place staff on the 2nd floor to keep large groups of people taking over equipment for long periods of time…spending more time chatting than working out. So far, facility seems nice however the membership services staff leaves a lot to be desired. My husband and I came in to get a membership and explicitly said we had friends who referred us to join that were already members, and then after the staff's "tour/pitch" to join, they didn't mention there was a referral bonus until after it was "too late and there was nothing they could do". Thoroughly unimpressed and will be reconsidering renewing after knowing that all they want is to take my money and don't truly care about supporting their members.

If I could give a half star rating, I would. I have been a long-term member at HWC, and went to cancel my membership because I no longer live in the area.
I called HWC, and it took them over a week to get back to me. When they finally responded, the general manager stated that he "didn't feel like canceling the membership at this time." He didn't give me the option to discontinue the membership, even for a fee, but he stated that I need to continue to pay until next April. YIKES.
I would not recommend this gym to anyone because the manager decided that I have to continue to pay for a membership that I will not use. Please save your time and money and go somewhere else.

Great gym with a lot of amenities! Huge problem when comes to up stairs weight room is it’s not large enough. There is 1 flat bench and 2 squat racks for the town of new Palestine and surrounding areas. The focus on CrossFit is too much for it being a wellness center. Cross fit needs to be re looked at being at the wellness center. It is wasted space when not in class with

I walked in for my scheduled family doctor visit. Check in was excellent and so was my visit with the nurse practitioner. I then went directly over to my radiology visit. Thank you to the scheduling staff for getting both of my visits back to back. I really appreciate the fact that I canceled my first visits due to a transportation problem and the staff got me rescheduled for the same day the following week again with the back to back radiology visit. Have had issues with childcare since I started. Sometimes impossible to reserve space during busy hours. I tried bringing my 7 yr old to walk the track with my husband while I worked out. They were rude & said they had told myself & my husband before that he is not allowed until kid fit hours unless we were to spend more money monthly for him to have a membership. & who on earth wants to wait until the middle of the day to take their children for kid fit. I need an hour of my life to work out on my own. There has got to be a solution to help parents. Why can’t they reserve an area of the gym for older kids that do not require space in jungle club. It’s going to continue to be an issue as New pal grows & especially during school breaks.

I love this new facility. Not only is the equipment state of the art, it is very clean and well maintained. There are a variety of classes offered for every skill level. I am currently only using the lap pool and have not seen the entire facility. The pool area as a whole is great. I like that there are 2 pools so kids/families can splash around without limiting the available lap lanes. However, the lap pool appears to be kept quite cool, way colder than either McCordsville or Greenfield locations. I find it to be borderline uncomfortable, even after 30 minutes of swimming. The locker room facilities are gorgeous with plenty of showers and lockers. However, I have one minor complaint: the suit dryer is poorly placed; in the pool side entrance to the ladies locker room, in full view of the pool area...one can't come directly out of the shower, wrapped in a towel and dry your suit before heading to your locker 😕
