Not the most updated or cleanest but I loove the sauna. I tried going to VASA, and I do for the classes, BUT - I will keep my la fitness membership too. VASAs sauna smells like rotten hamburger and butt and la fitnesses smells like teak wood. I also just like the environment wayy better at la fitness, but do wish la fitnesses would clean equipment more. Please always stay open!

UPDATE: I come mostly for the sauna but for the last 6 months it’s barely warm enough to sweat… it use to be so hot I could barely stand 20 mins and my phone would shut off… I’ve reported to the front desk repeatedly and there have been no changes. I guess I will have to start looking for an alternative :/

The facility is very nice! Clean with a great selection of equipment. My only real complaint is they use to be open until 11pm but never returned to the original hours after Covid. I would hate to have to change memberships but I can see the advantages of joining a 24 hour facility.

It's great to see this place have multiple pieces of same equipment and options for group programs to change up the monotony of your own workouts. Downside is there are gym bags and book bags laying around EVERYWHERE on the main floor!

They harass men using the pool, have black mold in the top of the pool area/ parts of the roof paint falling apart, six of us left because of staff. When you cancel your membership they try to keep charging you, getting phone calls telling me my membership is over due they are charging late fees after I told them to cancel my membership, was told when signing up if you needed any help they help you, few of them are in their little office area and don't answer when you call them. You have to walk in and yell at them to get to stop calling you. Anywhere else is better

It’s a great place to workout. The staff is friendly and helpful and the other members are nice and help create a positive environment. There are numerous weight machines as well as cardio options along with plenty of free weights and benches to meet almost any need. I love it.

I've been going to various LA Fitness locations around the city and even a few in other states. Overall, I like the facilities. But having women cleaning in the men's locker room while men are getting changed and showered without warning is unacceptable. I don't care what kind of personnel shortages are going on. Also, when a staff member admits that male janitors go into the women's locker and changing room, when that's what staffing levels call for, is equally unacceptable.

Update Nov, 27th, 2024: Had the same issue happen again today, so I spoke with the Operations Manager on staff. She told me that there are still staffing issues and they have no male janitors for the early shift. I pointed out that there were 2 men sitting at the Trainer Sales desks, and she said they were busy with other things. She also admitted that it would NOT be acceptable if a man went into the women's locker room while they were showing and changing. I let her know that this would be my last visit to this location until I received word that there would no longer be women sent into the men's locker room to sweep the floor about 5 feet from me while I'm barely covered in a towel. I've had enough.

I’ve been coming to this gym for close to a year now, I’ve been to multiple LAs but this one is by far the worst LA there is. The equipment is broken most of the time and it takes weeks to fix, even basic things like a WATER fountain it takes then multiple weeks. Employees always trying to close amenities earlier than posted so they can go home earlier. This is a specific encounter with me but I always love using the sauna but employees claim it always closes earlier to clean which I understand maybe 15 to 30 mins earlier but today they were trying to close it 2 HOURS EARLY because “I don’t like cleaning it when it’s hot”. This gym is super unprofessional and not worth the money at all if you’re only using this gym locally.

My parents have been members for several years. They have referred over a dozen of their friends, who have also been members for several years. They have always loved this location specifically and have built relationships with staff members throughout the years. Recently this club has switched management... often. The last manager was never available on site and the kids klub (day care in club) was never opened during the hours posted. Since that manager was replaced the energy and atmosphere has changed in all areas of the club. The staff is never pleasant to talk to, the only staff member my family trusted in the kids klub was let go (we have pictures of marks on our children and 2 other club members have found the same problem) and the people they now have in their aren't trained to interact with the children or even supervise them. Sitting on your phone with all the children at your back should not be acceptable. What is going on in this gym? The new "manager" is rude, money hungry and very very inappropriate. Dresses provocative and from what I have seen and heard, she talks to everyone like they are beneath her. Why would they let go of the staff that care about the members and replace them with this? And how do you report the abuse and neglect going on in the day care? U can't get a corporate number from anyone. We will all be taking our children, memberships and money elsewhere. If we can tolerate the manager long enough to actually get the memberships canceled. Another issue members can't seem to get resolved. This was a great place until recently and it all went downhill quickly. LA has made major staffing mistakes recently and it's going to end in a lawsuit. I will be sharing our experience across all social media platforms. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND KEEP YOUR CHILDREN SAFE! STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION.

WARNING!!!! Do NOT put your credit card on file with this company. A 2-month paid an advance gift for my senior family member has turned into $300 in 2 weeks. When my senior family member went to enjoy the gift that I gave them, he was harassed and fat shamed so bad by Thomas to pay an additional
$200 for him to be a personal trainer that he left the gym and swore he would never come back.
Even though I had a verbal guarantee that I could call and cancel should my Senior family member not want to continue the gift membership that I paid for in advance, Thomas on the phone told me I could not cancel over the phone and that I must come in and cancel it in person even though he knows I live out of state. My account was noted and he said whoever said that to me didn't know what they were doing.. The people that work for this company spin you and trick you promise you that you'll not be charged for anything else and then charge you for additional fees. Shady and dishonest. Shame on you Thomas.

I’ve been a member for over 15 years. They finally did a little upgrading (mainly moving machines around and adding a few new machines and a training style area)

While it’s close to my house, and only $24.99 a month, has lots of classes…… they are still lacking on the cleanliness side. That’s been an issue for years.

Every machine has an extremely visible dirty area with hair stuck in it. They don’t clean the machines but once a year I think.

Several leg machines are not even working properly and are really old.

The mats aren’t being cleaned at all. There is a thick layer of dust and dirt all around the perimeter of the mats and there’s literally dust balls with hair stuck on them.

The mirrors are dusty and always finger print filled.
I wish they would implement a SHOES ON POLICY at all times. It’s kind of gross to see people walking around in stained white socks working out.
They need to deeply clean and update some of the old machines that have issues.
But for the price I guess that’s I have to deal with. I really have no other closet option.
I do and have complained about the lack of cleanliness but it seems to
Fall on deaf ears. Friendly staff. Lots of machines. Close to home. Good hours. But they GOTTA CLEAN!

I absolutely love this gym! They have lots to do here! I personally take a cycling class, boot camp conditioning, pilates and yoga! But they also have tons of machines and weights, a pool and hot tub and also a sauna and racket ball courts! And if you want a personal trainer...you can do that too! Lots of safety issues. Carts are always parked in front of emergency exits making egress nearly impossible. More often than not one front entry/exit door is locked. There is a missing light switch cover on switch near hot tub and a lot of rust inside the switch box. Hoses near showers for cleaning are laying unrolled in the hallway floor when not in use. No hot water on 1/14-15. They sell food...what are they cleaning equipment and utensils with if there's no hot water? The restroom by the pool has been closed for months. The sign says there is a broken light switch...seiously? And the place is filthy. I can live with the crud but the level of safety is unacceptable.

Do not let the 4 start rating of this gym fool you. While there is a decent amount of equipment for use, most of the machines are dusty and old. They still serve their purpose I guess, but its clear the same equipment is being used from when this gym first opened up.

My biggest qualm with this gym is the lack of cleanliness in the showers and locker room. It is clear that this gym is high volume, and it lacks the maintenance staff to keep everything clean. The showers are filled with drain flies, which are only an issue if showers are not cleaned in a consistent manner. Other parts of the locker room are quite disgusting as well. It's disappointing because this gym charges $35 per month, has high volume being the only large gym in the area, yet they can't even keep the place clean. I know LA Fitness Greenwood can do better, and they should strive to do so.

This place used to be great but has gone downhill. After they shut down the Southport location, this one has gotten overcrowded. They aren't investing in maintaining or cleaning the building like they should. The locker room and sauna always look dirty. The floors are gross. Pretty sure I picked up a nasty fungus rash from changing in there.

Someone removed the thermometer and timer from the sauna. The manager didn't even know and has no idea when or if they will be replaced. Numerous locker doors are busted. It is starting to look like a place where neither the members nor staff care about having a nice facility. I'm about ready to cancel my membership.

LA Fitness has some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They cannot maintain long-term staff and those they do hire could easily be replaced by a bot. No willingness to help their customers. Not to mention most of the clubs are never kept up well.

I have had an account with this fitness club for over 10 years now and truly regret giving my money to such a worthless place that appears to be going out of business anyhow. Don't waste your time here as they will likely close the club in your neighborhood, and then refuse to cancel your account unless you show up to a physical location to cancel. The times of the closing are rough but the female staff are even worse especially since I’m a young female they have locked me out or kicked me out 30 to 10 minutes before closing because they say “it’s closing time” and I got chemical burns from the pool and hot tub but especially the hot tub I felt sand on my foot…turns out it was chlorine chunks.They illegally shocked the pool, or at least hot tub and let people go in it. I had it tested to see if it was the chlorine too. It was severely all over my face blistering and looked worse than acne. It couldn’t go away for about two weeks heavily treated when I first joined about a year ago it was not like this over the summer. It went severely downhill . MAINLY because of the staff.

I was looking for switch from planet fitness so my husband called LA Fitness for enquiry. They gave him the cost structure which was as follows:
$40 monthly membership
As a 4th of July offer $4 as joining fee and no cancellation charges.
The person on the phone further said that we should visit the gym in person to see for ourselves and then decide over the weekend as the offer is valid only on the weekends. So Saturday evening we reached the southport branch which is permanently closed. (Not updated on Google). We called them again from there and said we were there to see the gym personally for new admission. The lady on the phone called us to the greenwood branch. So we drove there. The two girls on the reception were arrogant enough to even say hello. When we said we were here to see the gym and we had just called the girl who had answered the call was like come on weekdays between 10-5 pm, we cannot have you look at the gym now. Further she said you will have to pay around $100 in order to start.

This is was so disappointing. I have never had such a bad experience anywhere in Indianapolis before with any hospitality service industry. The staff was extremely rude, unprofessional, non-helpful, not trained enough, zero communication skills, manner less, no hospitality, no value for customer’s time and efforts. Extremely disgusting experience.

I don’t know about other branches but the greenwood branch is utterly disgusting.

This location is getting too many members for it's size. If you come anytime on a weekday between 3:30 and 8:30 you will rarely be able to use any machines as they are very crowded. I have seen many times where all the treadmills and most ellipticals are taken as well. I would also never hire a personal trainer during these hours as I frequently watch them struggle to find 1 open machine for their clients.

I was apprehensive at first because I'm disabled. I found this place VERY accommodating! Getting into the pool was smooth, I did my 45 minute workout, and thoroughly enjoyed it!
11/7/22 Really enjoying my water workouts!! I usually go midday and get in a GREAT cardio water aerobic(45min) resistance bands (20min) laps(15-20min) cool down and stretch! The pool is awesome, locker rooms clean, and everyone is friendly. 2 thumbs up for sure 👍👍

I am so glad I chose this gym after much consideration of the other gyms in my area. Honest assessment it’s not a bad gym overall but the atmosphere, environment and amount of people is why It gets a 2 star rating from me. I drive another 10 minutes to go to the LA fitness on Southport (10 times better).

This LA fitness is overcrowded most of the time and with that, you have crowds of teenagers around 1 piece of equipment taking up space and being loud ….and then you have the 50+ older guys that think they are Arnold and walk around dragging gym bags the size of a suitcase lol while they consume the machine for the next 30-45 minutes. If you like that, this is the gym to attend.

They do have a pool, hot tub and sauna so that’s a nice feature. Just my opinion

I only joined LA Fitness for the classes. The few times I went the classroom floor was filthy. Dust bunnies and people's hair floating everywhere. And when I contracted Covid in November 2020 I'm 99% positive it was from the gym. When I asked if I could cancel my membership because I didn't feel comfortable going back I was told no, and that I didn't get it there because no one else complained. Terrible customer service. A huge waste of money.

Signed up for personal training after coming off of a collar bone injury. After three sessions and some bear crawls I refractories my collarbone. My trainer quit then the Dalton, who ran the department quit. I was told my account would be cancelled. Three months later i have now paid $1200 for 3 personal training sessions. No one has been able to help me with this problem.

I do not recommend.

I love this place!! I just came from Planet Fitness after 3 years and I am so glad I made the switch! Everyone id so nice and the gym is clean and has everything you could ever need.

Grubby, maskless, dinguses work here and their trainers are messes. This place is filthy. I go to a different LA fitness now and I am much happier.

I have been a member at LA for 10 years. I have never had an issue until recently. Absolutely Disgusting in all areas of the gym. I included a picture of my sons foot when we got home from being there. Mind you we come first thing in the morning so you would think the gym would be clean at the start of the day. Also we are now told the childcare is for 60 mins only no exceptions. So if you are looking to utilize the classes they offer which is a selling point to them. Think again classes are 60 mins so you would not be able to lock your things in the locker room, and find a place to sit/stand/ride in class. After many calls to corporate and them telling me what he Greenwood location is wrong and they will handle It Greenwood location still continues to make their own rules. My advice go to a different gym or location.

The layout is the highlight of the facility. Equipment of variety is wide spread where patrons can potentially get a good workout. The amount of traffic daily can be overwhelming especially with lack of cleanliness and sanitizing products.
