This is the only time I’ve ever gone out of my way to leave a review—what a joke this place is.

I emailed in to cancel 4 months ago and have called multiple times over the span of months with no pickup or response from both the primary points of contact that were given to me in a confirmation email. Charged me the last 3 months. Even had a buddy go in for me to try and cancel when I was no longer in Louisville and they said I needed to email in well here is the proof. Absolute joke

I cancelled my membership during Covid and FIVE YEARS LATER they are trying to report me. Keep in mind, they DID NOT call me about this once?! They just went straight to the bureaus FIVE YEARS LATER? Good work out place. Definitely needs to be cleaned in all areas. There are areas that have not been touched in over 4 years. The sauna has not worked in the last 3 months and prior to that only worked sometimes.

I travel for work so most gyms I go to I usually only do a single month at a time as I’m never anywhere for more than that. I signed up for that and received that and paid cash and everything was fine. Left town never heard from them. Returned to town to do the same except I didn’t have cash so I just gave my prepaid cashapp card to them as I didn’t trust having my main card in their system. And my suspicions were correct. They signed me up for a long term agreement and didn’t give me “paperwork” just had me “sign the waiver” by “signing the pen pan” and after my few weeks in town were up and I left I received a $75 fee attempted to be charged on that card. When I called the manager told me it was my monthly memebership fee and my “yearly upgrade dues” considering I’d only signed up for a month I was confused as to why I was getting extra charges only to find out the “waiver” I signed on the own pad was a 90 day contract which i never would’ve agreed to knowing I was only in town for a few weeks. It took me weeks after the 90 day agreement to get them to stop trying to charge my card for continuous months of membership after the agreement ran out. Then after 4 months of no charges from them they randomly started trying to process payments for different amounts on my card and no one will answer the phone at the gym to explain why that happened.

First month they signed him up for ONE month only. When he came back to do another ONE month, they signed him up for a 90 day agreement, didn't tell him that's the "best they could do" just had him sign the pen pad.. (so no paperwork was ever given)
When he got charged for the 2nd month of the 90 day agreement he went up there to ask what happened and why he didn't get what he asked for. They told him LITERALLY that is wasn't their fault, that he should've read what he signed. He signed a pen pad after EXPRESSING he only wanted a ONE month. The man argued that they don't do one months. Cyle showed him the past charge.. the man said.. well.. we do it selectively..
Still trying to get them to answer the phone to directly ask them why they are charging an account $20 that has been canceled for about 3 months!

A great gym with plenty of equipment. Lots of the members are really nice and are willing to spot you on your heavy lifts. I gave 3 stars because of the inconsistency in the staff enforcing rules and lack of respect for men over women. The first thing that happened to me had to do with when I first signed up. A African American man wearing a bandanna was working the front desk. I inquired about a membership and he gave me a quick tour. We got all the way back up front where a short blonde woman was waiting at the desk and having a billing issue. The man looked at me and said "ima help her first then you". I questioned his decision by replying "but you're already with me?" "It won't take long" he said. He then spent the next 15+ minutes trying to flirt with this girl under guise that he was helping. I ended up walking out and signing up the following day with someone else. The rule enforcement exame happened a few nights ago when a white male approached me in the free weight area. I had a 130 lbs dumbell resting on a bench while I recovered, he got on to me and said "please don't put dumbells on the bench, it ruins the bench". Makes sense I thought to myself. But what really irked me was there were 2 other people with dumbells on their benches on the other side of the dumbell section. He also told me he "was the only one who enforces those rules". First there is no sign saying you can't put dumbells on the bench. Second if you're the only one enforcing rules on certain people but not others, that doesn't seem right.

But I'm a chill guy and they're allowed to enforce and run their business how they want, just like I'm allowed to write an honest Google review of my experience with some of the night staff.

Go here because you don’t really have a choice. Used to be 4 or 5 of them. Now there’s just this one and the godfather off in Lexington. Both are good to go but they need some boxing stuff and the Cross Fitters need to share some of that space for other sport enthusiasts. There is a lot of potential for this place but it has yet to be achieved. Vote for J.R. Productions and not only will I put in a pool for ya, but punching bags everywhere. I’d also add a basketball court and replace one of the racquetball courts with something else. Space is limited so you gotta do what you gotta do. Jokes aside, really, just try it out. You’ll see me in there but don’t tap me on the shoulder from behind. I hate that!

I actually drive from crestwood ky to go to this lac location. Their equipment, cleanliness, and friendly staff is top notch in the area. This was always my favorite location even before other lacs closed in louisville area with pandemic hardships. They have new technogym pec machine that is my favorite, brand new additional weight room, and tons of cardio bikes & treadmills etc. It's really a perfect place for beginners or anyone wanting to incorporate fitness in pursuing and maintaining healthy lifestyle. In addition, the equipment is spaced out and arranged perfectly.

I do not recommend this gym to anyone. When I signed up I asked to just pay for one month and that’s what I was told I was getting. I was lied to and they put me on a contract instead. I had no idea I ever owed more than the month I payed for until monthssss later! They emailed and told me I owe a bunch of money. And I’ve tried twice now to rectify the situation and get someone to talk to me and I have gotten nowhere. The only way to cancel is to write them a letter. I went in person and cancelled my membership at the start of the pandemic bc I have access to a private gym. Fast forward 2 years, they just sent me to collections for supposedly owing $500 even though I cancelled my membership! I of course am disputing it, and the lady at the collections office said I’m not the only one who’s disputing charges from this company.

Make sure you keep your receipt if you cancel your membership!! Absolutely ridiculous. Terrible management, which is evident seeing as how almost all their locations are now permanently closed. They have multiple complaints on Better Business Bureau, I’ll be adding one as well.

I was in town for 2 weeks. I Love working out. I call Louisville Athletic Club. Talk to them about getting a 2 weeks pass. They said yes. So I drove by the LAC. To find it. I waited about 2 months before I decided to do a review just so I can leave my honest review of the place. Don’t get me wrong. I love working out here, I love utilizing the cafe and other benefits that are offered to members but just like anywhere it has its faults. I’ll do what I like and dislike about the place and then my overall opinion.

Likes:
•The vibe you get from walking in is nice and it makes you want to get a good lift in.
•All the things that are offered to its members.
•The indoor turf.
•The free weights.
•Ms. Linda is one of the sweetest workers there. She’s always walking around cleaning, has a smile on her face, and happy to engage in conversation with anyone.

Dislikes:
•In the guys bathroom, 2 of the showers has not been working for the past month, 1 shower only puts out cold water, and 1 shower has a light bulb that has been out.
•Also in the showers the shampoo containers inside of the showers are most of the time empty and I always have to go to one of the other showers to put shampoo on my scrub then go back to my shower to finish up.
•Some of the lockers are broken and has been for weeks.
•One time I was using the bathroom and I had to call the front desk to bring me some toilet paper because my stall was out.
•Some of the equipment does not get fixed right away. The step master on the 2nd floor has a drag in it that has been broke for the past month in a half. There are some other equipment in there that needs to be fixed as well.
•In the guys sauna there’s trash always on the ground. One time I found a baggy with marijuana in it because I had dropped my phone and it landed right there next to it.

Overall:
As mentioned before I love working out here but I feel like in a way I’m being got for my money because as a member these issues aren’t being resolved and we pay a maintenance 2 months out of the year and the maintenance issues aren’t being taken care of from my knowledge I don’t know if it’s a staffing issue or what but they need to get some Planet Fitness workers in there because those workers don’t know how to stop cleaning. When I was working out there, every time I came in, no matter what time of the day it was nor how packed it was. They had workers cleaning bathrooms, windows, equipment everything. There was one time I was doing a lift and the equipment I was using was been cleaned while I was doing the lift. Ahaha And they always fixed their broken equipment right away. If it was broke Monday morning, it’ll be fixed Monday afternoon. If LAC did these things I would love it there even more. I know it may sound like I’m knit picking but like I said. If I pay to be on contract then I expect for everything to taken care of like Planet Fitness. Maybe it’ll change.

Cancellation requires 30 days notice, so you have to cancel up to 60 days before the last day you want to visit to avoid wasting money. Also, you have to cancel in person. They make it as hard as possible to try to cheat their customers out of as much money as possible, so I'd suggest not supporting this business. My biggest complaint is the audio on the TVs on cardio machines is often broken and all have different channels and when you change channels or volume there is a loud annoying beeping sound. I enjoy my time at LAC. Nobody bothers me, I'm able to workout freely. Great classes and positive groups of people.
My dad and I met the manager who was very kind and welcoming. I recommend LAC to everyone.

The only negatives: One of the front desk staff, just one in particular, is always dazed out on his phone and on personal calls, last call was about some argument with his girlfriend (seriously, dude) I was trying to ask a quick question and he acted like I had bothered him at home.
The rest of the staff though are GREAT.
The machines could use a little cleaning, the metal has some grime and dirt buildup. Shower area in women's can get a little hairy, the bath mats haven't been cleaned in awhile.

All little things, way worth it, I won't go anywhere else.

Truly enjoy going to the gym everyday! Switched to LAC from another local gym, and couldn’t be happier. Started off with the free trial, which was easy to set up. The staff were very friendly and informative when explaining gym rules and equipment. Very laid back and welcoming gym experience.

There is a wide variety of equipment offered, and multiples of most things. On busy days there can be a wait for certain equipment, but that’s to be expected. Absolutely love the classes, and sauna! All the instructors really enjoy their jobs, and make an effort to connect with new and veteran students. The sauna is a great place to relax after pushing your limits.

At first I was worried about the community at the gym, but I’ve actually had many friendly interactions there and met new friends!

So where to start. Lac is a big commercial gym and yet in its way balances the hardcore aspect with the more planet fitness way as well. The policy sucks for canceling membership ,but they tell you. Yeah the bathrooms arent the best all the time ,but look at the amount of people there come on now the staff are only human. Most people are rather friendly staff are super helpful and its nice to see people smiling at their job. The equipment that is missing there is whatever because I'm sure that if enough people asked they would at least look into it. 10/10 lac staff are awesome. Love the gym
