This is the best gym on the south side. Everything is very clean and there is a consistent rotation of new equipment. Everyone here is very polite and the windows are nice for the natural light.

Predatory pricing strategies. They force you cancel membership only in person. When you finally find some staff in the gym they cancel your membership starting from next month or two so they can keep charging money.

Very glad I can change my review.

After working out here about 3 years I can say it has been predominantly downhill.

Owner leaves cardio machines in disrepair for weeks on end, owner has recently changed the cable towers out and the change makes no sense. Down from 3 lat pulldowns, 2 cable rows to a setup with like 1 lat pulldown and a tower that doesn't even make sense frankly.

It seems very obvious at this point that for this gym chain this location is more of a storage and black sheep than the rest of the locations. Would no longer reccomend the Southport location, but I guess the others are still ok.

Also seriously the LED panel that was added to the sauna is oppressive to the eyes, there is no reason to have 100+ LED bulbs blasting in such a small space. It is almost impossible to sit in there while it is on without being blinded.

04/07 update: can get random new body composition scanners and make random remodels but once again can't keep cardio equipment maintained. L owner.

Absolute best gym in Indy! Hands down. Has every piece of equipment you could imagine - along with all the attachments you need. Hottest Sauna around. Tanning bed. Gym is always clean. Plenty of benches/adjustable free benches, deadline platforms, squat racks, cable/Smith machines, isolated body part machines, two core & posing rooms with more cable machines. Also has an entire outdoor gym with all the weights x2. Owner fixes any broken machines right away. Always adding new equipment. 10/10 will always recommend.

Timely maintenance on machines with a great selection of unique quality machines. Gym seems to be dusted more often and new outdoor area looks like a refreshing addition to the gym. The staff and gym goers are very nice and helpful too

Nice well equipped place a little over equipped if anything spacing of machinery is a little to close. I also think for an athlete going for more endurance training it needs a little more equipment in that area. I also notice the owner a little rude (arrogant) The facility though and the hired staff make up for that.

In my opinion this is the best overall gym in the area. This place changed my life , I lost 60
Pounds coming here. Members and staff are friendly as well as helpful. Place is always clean as well. I’d highly recommend if interested!

I actually really like this gym. Equipment is nice. People are nice. My only complaint is I really enjoy using the sauna, it's my favorite part, but there is multiple times where another gym goer brings her own water mixed with something and uses it in the sauna. Makes the whole sauna smell like pine. Makes everyone in the sauna smell. The smell stciks to your clothes, it will get in your car. Etc. The other day half the gym smelled like pine because of this. I've seen multiple people get upset. Like I said the people are nice so no one starts any issues with the lady, but I've talked to many people who are unhappy with the pine smell. I know people have complained and nothing has been done. If not for this issue I'd gladly give this place 5 Stars.

Been a member for five years years, and I freaking love this gym.

This is a smaller gym, and you'll see a lot of familiar faces every time you go in. A great gym for all kinds of people... however, definitely better for people who like machines and doing weights. There are serious lifters here and also casuals... everyone's friendly.

There aren't rows and rows of stairsteppers and treadmills... it's not that kind of gym.

But, it's the PERFECT gym for people serious about weight training and hypertrophy.

I never have to wait for a rack.

Great selection of machines. They've put in some very pricy Panatta fitness machines in the past year, they're fantastic. Also, there's a lot of accessories and "attention to detail" devices.

I've been a member for over two years now and go to the gym about five days per week. The staff is friendly and the place is kept clean. They say the gym has 24 hour access. I have gone TWICE on Sunday mornings between 8-9 a.m. and could not get in the door. I brought this to their attention and was told their system resets itself at that time every day. Seriously? Why not schedule the reset for 2 a.m. when far fewer members are likely to be using the gym? It's frustrating to drive all the way there and then not be able to work out. The greatest problem is the other members. Every time I go there, several members are just sitting on equipment staring at their phones. They'll do it for 15-20 minutes at a time! If you go up to them and politely ask if you can "work-in", they get rude and say "I am just finishing up" (they then go back to their phone). There are rules posted in the gym explicitly telling members NOT to use their phones UNLESS they are OFF the equipment. Another thing members like to do is to put their phone and personal items at a machine they want to use next, while they are using a nearby machine. It's like saving a parking space with a lawn chair sort of thing. They do this when staff is present and the staff doesn't say anything. It's so annoying. I am busy and don't have time to fart around waiting for a bunch of grown teenagers playing on their phones. I know this is a problem at every gym, but it is becoming a daily problem at the Stop 11 Road gym. I wish management and staff would put a stop to this practice. Their are cameras out on the floor recording this boorish behavior. I am afraid if this continues, I may have to seek another place to do my workouts. Such a shame. Lastly, there is a problem with personal hygiene for some of the members. Many times, I enter the gym and I am greeted with the distinct odor of bad breath. I don't know what some of these people eat before working out, but it is obvious they don't brush their teeth or use mouthwash. How the heck does one person stink up an entire gym with bad breath odor?! Again, there is a sign warning of this kind of behavior but nobody enforces it.

Great gym. It’s never too busy to get to what you need, and they have a great selection of equipment. They will regularly replace equipment that doesn’t get used with something else. The sauna is really nice as well. Also cheaper than just about anything but planet fitness.
My only complaint is the music. The selection is small so you’ll hear the same songs every workout, and they’re mostly bad. All in all, though, I highly recommend this place!

One of the most money hungry gyms I’ve gone too. They have the audacity to charge 40 a month with NO guest pass so everyone has to buy a membership family or not. If you don’t set up direct deposit through your bank account they charge an extra $2.50 for the transaction not too mention that if you’re late just by a day it’ll charge you an extra $15 on top of that. And you have to cancel in person and their staff hours are not worker friendly as they are only there 10-7 so if you’re not able to make time to get up there they’ll just keep letting your bill stack. It’s set up to make you have to pay their fees you’re better if going to literally any other gym. Not even to mention how small it is they only have one toilet & one shower in the locker room & not like it’s a big deal but if your not Christian you’re gonna never want to forget ur headphones bc all they’ll play is Christian music the entire time! Talk about inclusive

Been going here for over a year,love it! I've seen unused equipment get changed out and new equipment brought in. People at the front always greet with a smile. Members here,just get to work. Vibe is a big thing for me and it's great here, from the places esthetic to the members. Mix of all ages. Love that it's open 24/7 and the saunas a huge perk. If it matters to anyone, I'd say most members here range from moderate to experienced. Not a lot of comp lifters,but not people wandering looking for something to do either.

Honestly would not go if you’re serious. Owner has been rude on both encounters with him. They don’t allow chalk, but for some reason offer several different bars to use. Powerlifters or anyone competing in powerlifting, this is definitely not for you. The next step up from ymca and doesn’t offer day passes. Definitely needs improvement

I had an extremely unprofessional encounter with the owner and an employee. I was told to put a shirt on at while working out (which in fine misunderstandings happen) but the worker was clearly having some type of roid rage because he was 100% trying to stair me down. I asked if I could see this rule written down and he further continued the attitude in saying that “I’m gonna call the owner and he’s gonna terminate your membership”. Overall a completely unprofessional and unnecessary way to talk to a member. That employee should have been told to talk to members with respect but unfortunately the owner sees his average gym as a “private member club” when in reality it’s one step ahead of an anytime fitness. Overall I wouldn’t recommend just for unprofessionalism and disrespect of the owners and employees. Nobody should be threatened with there membership being terminated over wanted to see a rule written down.

Mei fitness is a wonderful gym. My boyfriend and I go everyday and we are always greeted by friendly staff! At this gym, people go HARD but it’s so inspirational. No one at this gym has ever made me feel like I shouldn’t be there.

They keep the gym very clean, there is a tanning bed in the woman’s restroom that can be used during staffed hours and there is a sauna that is available to everyone! Go get fit!

Yes this gym is on the pricey side … but here’s why I think it’s worth it.
1. People here get to work. This is not VASA or Planet Fitness where you have people sitting on their phones at the machines showing off. You can lift and workout however you want.

2. It’s rarely ever busy. Best part. I feel I always have the gym to myself. When I was at Planet Fitness and VASA… there was never room to sit in the sauna, never a machine available, people texting their boo thing and having convos at the machines when others want to work out, free food to promote judgement free zone, and not even an available locker. Yes I would even see people eating snacks on planet fitness machines.I come in here and get my workout done efficiently everyday.

3. Small gym feels like a family. Not always trying to sell you stuff. You feel like you’re part of a club where everyone is determined to get better and motivates you. Everyone here knows how to workout and you can see results.

4. Legitimately open 24/7 anytime any day with your card

I have been to quite a few gyms and none of them can hold a candle to the Mei Fitness gyms.

The dedication and true compassion Mel has for his gym family is immeasurable.

The equipment is top notch and always being updated, repaired or replaced with the next best thing. Not only is the equipment the best, the facility is the cleanest (professional cleaning crew in often as well) — which gives everyone peace of mind during these times.

The environment is absolutely amazing as well. Everyone is friendly, happy to help and just there to push themselves right alongside you. If you have questions, need a spotter or help with a machine, a gym fam member is right there. Mel, the owner is also often seen sweating it out with us — which I can’t honestly ever say I’ve seen at previous gyms I frequented. Personal trainers? Yep they’ve got them too!

I truly cannot say enough great things about this gym that I now call home.

P.S. it’s also the Breaking Benjamin music for me, LOL.

Worst possible place you can go if you’re a fat cell. Been to Keystone, Fishers, and Southport locations. Hands down one of the best training facilities you’ll ever go and the absolute cleanest. Not a spot of rust in the place and the equipment is always top notch. Kudos to Mel and the staff as I’ve never had an issue with any of them. Super friendly place to get your gains. 10/10 would recommend.

Mei Fitness is like no other gym in Indiana. It has an almost complete line of Prime Fitness Equipment, which is rare, and extremely nice. The only downside is chalk is not allowed on location. The gym is always clean and the gym staff are delightful. The sauna and the tanning bed alone makes the membership worth it. Hands-down the most well equipped gym in Indiana. If they don’t have it at your Mei location they most likely have it at another.

It's literally half the cost of the gym I used to attend, but the equipment is twice the quality and even closer to my house. This location has made numerous mistakes with my wife's account including altering the date of auto pay without informing her cause there to be inadequate funds. The location management never returns phone calls and just makes account and payment alterations without keeping the customer informed. My wife has once again requested a phone call and we are awaiting a response.

There have been multiple times that he has personally asked what he can do to improve the facility, and that means a lot. All brand new equipment, has everything you could want...The owner is in all the time to make sure everything is running smoothly, constantly checking equipment, removing stuff that isn't being utilized and bringing in newer, better equipment. GO TO THIS GYM! First off, the owner is an amazing guy. Very friendly and nice. He truly cares how you feel about the gym and wants your opinion. Facility is ALWAYS clean. There is equipment there that you will not find anywhere else and it’s the best equipment. They have the hottest sauna around. I love MEI because it is so clean and the equipment is awesome. Perfect for beginner to pros. Love seeing a powerlifter deadlifting next to a group doing CrossFit and bodybuilders too. Everyone is always so nice. Staff and members. Have made some life long friends at MEI. The writing on the wall inspires me during my lifts. Just has a great feeling when you walk in. Owner is great at listening to members and always getting new equipment in. Love it. And the membership is priced accordingly. Very reasonable. Southport Mei is simply amazing. It has an old and new school feel to it. The gym caters to the beginner all the way up to the professional. It has things for the crossfitter, body builder, power lifter, and those who just love to workout. The inspirational quotes on the wall remind you why you are dedicated yourself to the gym. This place is CLEAN, they strategically place cleaning bottles and rags everywhere. The staff are a very customer service focus and wanting to do whatever they can for you. The owner is a veteran of our great nation and is the most humblest man I think I've ever met. He will go out of his way to make sure things are perfect for his members.
