My daughter began her dance journey at Motion Studio when she was just four years old, and in a few months, she will take the stage for her final recital as a senior. Looking back over the past 14 years, we couldn’t have asked for a more supportive and inspiring dance family. Motion Studio is truly the premier performing arts school in Southern Indiana, offering top-notch instruction across multiple dance styles. Their commitment to excellence in technique is matched only by their dedication to fostering a positive, nurturing environment where dancers grow not just as performers, but as well-rounded individuals. The experiences and opportunities my daughter has had here have been nothing short of incredible, and we will forever be grateful. I cannot give enough stars to Motion Studio! They have been incredibly accommodating to our daughter who requires additional assistance. Dance has been a hugely impactful part of her life, thanks to the amazing staff. She has improved in balance, coordination, walking, and has learned how to work with others.

In general, any art form improves our quality of life and makes us feel amazing- and dancing with the Motion Studio team is no exception!

Motion studio is unlike any other studio! The instructors really care about the students! Hands down the BEST studio in southern Indiana with no competitions either! That’s one reason I chose the studio. They teach technique and they are amazing with their students unlike the competition dance studios where they push you to be the best. The girls here want to be the best for themselves not to be better than other people. I put my daughter in Motion to be part of something special and aha started at 2 and is still there at 14 and LOVES it!!

The staff here has been so friendly and welcoming to me and my children! They have been so flexible in helping us get settled as one of my girls wanted to switch her class after we signed up and she has a change of heart. They didn’t make a big deal out of it at all! They also were so helpful in fitting my daughters for her ballet shoes and ordering the appropriate size when they didn’t have it in the studio! My girls love their classes and are so excited to go each week!

This place has been a huge let down! This is a WARNING for others thinking of taking their children here.

Our daughter attended Motion Studios for over 7 years. She started with so much excitement and hope, and for a while, it truly felt like the perfect place. The instructors were talented, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about dance. The environment was supportive, and we all felt like she was growing as a dancer every week. Unfortunately, that experience didn’t last.

As the studio grew, so did its problems. The once-close-knit community turned into a clique-driven environment where favoritism became blatantly obvious. Certain students – those who were the connected to the owner, by way of friendship, or more commonly, by "volunteering" (or working) at the studio to get a discount – received more attention and opportunities, regardless of skill level. Meanwhile, others were left feeling overlooked and undervalued. It became clear that if you weren't "in" then your child would not be given any opportunities for advancement or quality instruction. Even after reaching out to the owner to get ANY kind of feedback, (which they did not provide openly and easily) they only gave vague and unclear guidance with no path to move forward.

The owner, who was never really that approachable, now seems more focused on growing the business than maintaining the quality and fairness that initially set this studio apart. Class sizes have ballooned so much now that they had to hire in new instructors who don't seem qualified, as they are teaching off old lesson plans like a substitute teacher. It’s clear that profits are being prioritized over the experience of the students.

What’s most disappointing is that the studio lost sight of these young children doing something they enjoy and feel passionate about. They do not cultivate an environment where children can gain ability, and confidence, while being active and accepted anymore.

Unless major changes are made, I can’t recommend this studio to anyone looking for a supportive, inclusive dance experience.

My daughter has been with Motion Studio for 8 years! She has grown so much and I love to watch her dance. The studio becomes so much more then just an after school activity, it has become part of our family! ❤️ Best Studio Around! My son also takes drums and voice!

My granddaughter has been attending classes at Motion Studio since she was 18 months old and we attended the Move with Me class. Now she is 5 years old and is attending the Ballet/Tap Combo. She loves it! Her poise and self-confidence are excellent and I believe that Motion Studio assisted in both of those areas.

Totally recommend Motion Studio and we love all of the staff!

My girls have trained at a few dance schools in the area over the past six years, and Motion Studio is hands down the best. The staff are so kind and knowledgeable, they care about their students and teach them in a way that pushes them to excel but to also have fun and love the art of dance. I've seen my girls grow and thrive here. We just love Motion Studio and are very thankful for them. Highly, HIGHLY recommend.

Daughter a bit taller than the other girls , they ordered costumes for recital, was given one 2 sizes to big and told she was “ a difficult size” … I was told they would not pay for alterations, She could wear the oversized costume or not be in the recital…
