Jeff is the best manager at One gym. Besides that the bathrooms are so gross. The toilets have never been cleaned. Scared to touch anything in the locker room, because it looks like mold and mildew all over. Showers are disgusting. Showers in jail are cleaner, not lieng. Grease the smith machine it barely moves. The cable pulleys are messed up. Cables have lumps in them need new ones. Machines are greasy. Gym is good besides how dirty it is. Promote Jeff he’s a good guy . They cleaned it up the very next day after this post. Thank you very much

I had to cancel my membership twice to stop getting charged. Apparently the first time wasn't in their system at all and was never done. I must have talked to a ghost I'm assuming. So I had to go back in and cancel and still got charged again because I canceled one day too late they said.

I’ve been a member of my local gym for a while now, and I can’t say enough about the clean and safe environment they provide. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by friendly staff who genuinely care about your well-being. The good - It's 24 hours.
The bad -
Canceling your membership here is truly a pain. When I signed up, all I was told is you can cancel at anytime. You can't call and cancel. At the time, they also didn't mention any enhancement fees. When you do go in to cancel they'll still squeeze one more month out of you.

Now they're telling people about the 'enhancement' fee, but for the longest they never mentioned it when you signed up. Bi-annual 30ish dollar add on. They've thrown down cheap rubber mats and try to use that to justify the enhancement fee, but I wonder what they're really using it for.
The bathrooms/showers are atrocious, and the equipment isn't in good condition either. It's like the workers are too good to go clean the showers, water fountain, bathrooms or anything besides the front counter.

Most gyms have shoddy contracts for joining so it is what it is, but if you're going to join a gym join a nicer, cleaner one anywhere else in town.
On other reviews the new owner says they've been the owner for about a year, yet there has been very little change. (Besides rubber mats)

Place was a mess when it was Charter Fitness, and it hasn't changed since.

This company continues to raise prices without notification. And refuses to cancel memberships without paying money out. And threatens collections if you don't pay them to cancel. I have tried to cancel and aren't allowed. I signed a contract with charter fitness . Not one more gym. I asked to sign paperwork and was told no my wife wanted to cancel and was told she needed a doctor's note to do so.. and one for the record you have all of our contact info. And never once have we been contacted about any changes the only contact we have had is from the scam billing company

The entire gym is massively disappointing. Everything is disgusting. The equipment is in disrepair. The cables work against their own pulleys and add drag so you can’t use the weight properly. The dumbbells are all torn up and the set itself is incomplete. The showers are disgusting. The water fountain is disgusting. Equipment is frequently duct taped together. I get only being able to change one thing at a time as they said before. But the floor they “replaced” is just rubber mats laid over the gross carpet that was already in there. It also is basically FREE to keep the water fountain and showers clean, there’s no excuse for that.

But don’t worry, they will lie to you about SARMS for profit.

I just purchased a week pass at One More Gym in Valparaiso, and I was very impressed with the help I received from the staff. I was a first-time visitor to the gym, and I didn't know what to expect. However, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and they let me take my time to look around the gym.
I was particularly impressed with the staff's knowledge of fitness. They were able to answer all of my questions, and they gave me some great tips on how to get the most out of my workouts. I also appreciated that they were very encouraging, and they helped me stay motivated.
Overall, I had a great experience at One More Gym. The staff was helpful, knowledgeable, and encouraging. I would definitely recommend One More Gym to anyone looking for a great fitness experience

The atmosphere is very chill and nonjudgmental. You don't have to talk to anyone to sign in, just scan a card and quickly start working out. They have many machines for weightlifting, a punching bag, treadmills, exercise bikes, and yoga mats. Each machine has a guide for how to use it, though it can be kinda confusing to use for beginners. They have sanitizing bottles out so you can wipe down a machine before and after use.

It's a gym very focused on weightlifting more than cardio. Membership is very cheap in comparison to Planet Fitness. They also have protein shakes & blends available for purchase. The only downside is that there isn't always staff around.

This gym is great in terms of trying to constantly improve itself for the betterment of the members. Yes it seems slow but it has been happening. The staff great always seems to be personable to the members. Reading through the reviews before making mine it seems the only people that have problems with this gym are either negligent on their part or feel inconvenient because it's not how they want things not realizing that the owners have a business to run and it can't please everyone.

For 2 months I called and a guy answered the gym saying another girl would have to take care of it. This was 2 years after I moved out of the area. Weird how my wife's account was cancelled with no issue WELL before you see me calling to ask why I'm still being billed.

It was not after Thanksgiving - that's just the first time your "manager" managed to pick up her phone. This started in October and took until the new year.

Avoid this place like the plague.

Had a membership for a few months before having to move. It’s a very clean facility with great equipment and plenty of space so you’re not weaving in between people trying to do squats and what not. Their olympic lifting area is an awesome touch as well. It’s easy to get into with a scan code as well.

Seems like ownership lacks quality business ethics and is very money driven.

(My credit card got phished, and then canceled by card company)
They will continue to charge your card no matter what until you physically cancel in person. They use a third party billing company that comes up as spam on caller ID as their first line of offense to get their measly 35 dollars a month. They will finally start calling you themselves after 2-3 months.

I offered to maintain my membership status and sign a new 6 month contract if they would waive the 3 months, thinking that was a reasonable “everybody wins solution”. The manager took it upon himself to try and mediate the situation by waiving the late fee, which I appreciated, but the REAL PROBLEM is the owners understanding that they are CHARGING A CANCELLED card, which they do state in the contract they can do. But seriously, come on, how grimey and careless for your members.

It was never about money, it was only about your gyms cutthroat big corporation billing policy for your small business gym.

This place can be so much better as it has the right people working there. Owners need to take logical suggestions from members and employees if they wish to remain a permanent fixture for the community for who which they serve.

If i could rate 0 stars I would. The only thing that is nice about this gym is that it is open 24/7. The gym has a distinct unpleasant smell to it that hits you the moment you walk in the door. They charge $35 a month and another $29.99 fee that they say “goes to the betterment of the gym”. Oh and this isn’t a one time fee but a recurring one that they charge every 6 months. This wouldn’t be an issue if all the machines weren’t old and rusty, the carpet is ripped up by the deadlift platforms, almost a quarter of the dumbbells are missing or are in terrible condition, there is a lot of water damage in the ceiling tiles, the locker rooms are absolutely disgusting, and there are 2 fully grown fully capable men that can’t be bothered to clean any of it up or even attempt to make it look nice. Really just looks like the owners are scamming people of this $29.99 fee and pocketing the money. And looking at the other reviews it seems like they will also continue to take your money even when you try and cancel and they will pretend like you didn’t. My advice don’t bother coming here just go workout at the anytime fitness if you need a 24/7 gym, you shouldn’t have to worry about getting tetanus when you are trying to get some gains. 0/5 stars do better

I am extremely disappointed in all of the one more gym staff all the way up to the ownership of the gym. I was told that I could cancel my gym membership through the mail since I have moved out of state, but the gym never stopped my account. That is where my problem began and it has been a slippery slope since then. I have been lied to, manipulated, and scammed during this whole process of simply trying to cancel my account. I was once a proud member of this gym, but now I would highly recommend everyone to stay away. They are only interested in your money and will do anything (include lie to you) to scam you for your money. They will not take accountability for their mistakes of their employees or their employees efforts to play a game to take more time so they can still receive more of my money. Do better One More Gym and do the right thing next time when it happens to the next customer.

This review is for the terrible customer service experience that I received and the constant over charge on my account.

I called to cancel my gym membership and asked for the monthly charge to be put on hold back in January which I was told they would do until they received my letter in the mail stating that I wanted to cancel. I moved away and I was told by Austin that I would not be charged but no one left notes on my account and I was told multiple times that a manger would give me a call to clear it up.

Instead two months went by I had to constantly call them , the manger never reached out to me. Her name is Kailey and when I finally spoke to her on the phone she had the audacity to act as if I was lecturing her because I was upset about constantly being charged and no one called me to clear up my account .

I had to constantly call. She said no one puts a hold on the account and that I needed to read my contract. Even though that’s what was discussed when I first called about cancelling. Mind you she has failed to call me back for 3 weeks at this point. She is very rude and honestly I don’t think she would talk like that to people in Person. As a manger being self aware is very important, they dropped the ball and then made me feel like I was in the wrong for trying to understand why I was still being charged.

Overall gym gets a 2 for customer service. No customer should feel like it’s an issue to get a call back as well as feel like they don’t have a right to know how and why they are being charged inaccurately.

No frills gym. This isn't a fitness center like those faceless bourgeois chain gyms. It has elliptical machines, treadmills, nautilus machines, free weights, showers, a couple tanning beds, hydro-massage tanks, and that's more-or-less it. Major demographic is college-age males-- but that's the demographic for any establishment in Valparaiso. Membership is low, and the people don't bother you. Perfect for a misanthrope like me.

This is a good gym with enough equipment for serious lifters - squat cages, Olympic lifting platforms, quality barbells that aren't bent. Not terribly busy in the early morning (5 AM). 24-7 access is a plus as well. Very clean as well. Only thing it could use are more Kettlebells and a proper pull-up rig similar to what you might find in a cross-fit gym and a reverse hyper machine.

I've been going here for about 6 or 7 years. Since the new owners took over, they've added deadline platforms (amazing addition), they moved stuff around to make it more orderly and spacious, they repainted (that blue and orange ish color was ugly), and they've even got new barbells (red rogue barbells) that just look so nice. Im hopeful for them to rip out the old carpet that's been in there since it was cardinal fitness about 12 years ago. And also hopeful for new dumbells (and hopefully people don't destroy them). 10/10 would recommend.
