I really like the cleanliness and how courteous the staff are. My frustration is the people who use the machines in the circuit area without rotating. I use this area on my lunch hour and get so annoyed when I can't complete a workout because people are sitting on the equipment texting on their phones. Management says they can't patrol it, but they always have multiple people working. I shouldn't have to ask the manager to get people off the machines so I can work out. Thinking of finding a different place.

I used to go there 2 years ago but dressing room which is only 1 yet in san antonio there is 3 . Then they remolded the only dressing room to a complete bare room not even a chair or a place to hang anything like in winter time a coat? Even a restroom in grocery store or restaurant have a curticy place to hang whatever so i stopped going there. Much approvemt is needed. Harassed by front desk manager who antagonized me about switching my home gym to Bloomington as I stood there sweaty, mid workout, on literally the first day back in town. I'm a black card member (even if I wasn't) I didn't expect this kind of humiliation by her in front of other members and staff. I couldn't even get water because thier water fountain was out of order and the forced me to pay for water. This is the kind of lack of mindfulness and judgement by management and staff that make me question thier mission statement

I love this place, in 99.9% of my opinion. I don't really appreciate the attitude of the receptionists.. Or whatever you call them. But I'm sure that changes from city to city, area to area. I appreciate the no judgment priority, because I'm rather young and massively out of shape.... So it's really important for me to at least somewhat feel comfortable wherever I'm working out. I try to do it at home, but the assistance of the machines, and the hyperfocused atmosphere helps. I have lifelong bipolar in PTSD from being bullied and then subsequently other more horrific things, so feeling comfortable anywhere is a challenge for me. Keep fighting the good fight, planet fitness. Forgiving people like me an opportunity and a safe place with options like tanning. Yay!

This facility is generally well-maintained, and the staff is friendly and courteous. However, one major issue is the lack of communication regarding closures for cleaning and updates. On multiple occasions, I’ve arrived only to find the location closed, with no prior notification. Since I live a significant distance away and rely on this facility due to its proximity to work, this has been incredibly frustrating. Better communication about closures would go a long way in improving the member experience. Because of this ongoing issue, I am considering switching to a different facility.

I have gone every morning for the past two weeks. I have not had any trouble until today, and it was a major turn away. It was my first time doing the 30 minute work area. I immediately notice several people not following the green light or red light to switch stations. I came up on somebody 4 times in two rotations who took the machine I was about to use and didn't move off it when I said it a thirty minute workout and each station was a minute so I went around them and missed that machine. The worst part is when I told the service desk I was told, "we try to monitor that. Sorry that happened." So am I expected to have that experience every time I want to use the 30 minute workout area? It makes me super uncomfortable and I hate to confront people when it's the service desk duties to remind people of the rules and expectations

The Bloomington, IN, Planet Fitness is always clean and well stocked, with limited maintenance issues. What really impresses me though is the staff! On multiple occasions, two young men in particular have stood out. They always greet my daughter and me with a smile and a, "how are you doing today?". It's so nice to be warmly greeted this way by what seem like genuinely kind people! Thank you Jet and Nolan! I'm sure you brighten other members day as much as mine!

This planet fitness is one of the worst I've seen. Too bad it's the ONLY one in town. I canceled membership a while ago & went back as a guest recently with my friend. It's even more packed & grosser than I remember. Anytime fitness is the closest option or the Y but they are overpriced. I workout at the park & at home but i really wish planet fitness would just open a couple more locations in town so this one wouldn't be the only option. The population size of this town begs for more than 1 location.

It's ridiculous that they make it so hard to cancel a membership. You can sign up easily enough, but then they make you jump through a bunch of hoops to cancel. You either have to go in person or send a letter. Why can't they just let you do it online or over the phone?

It's a good place to go because it's open 24 hours... I mostly only go to tan because that's a good monthly deal for tanning in Bloomington and whenever I can go I just stop in which I love! But the only reason I give just three stars is that here lately the cleanliness of the place isn't very sanitary and the tanning beds shouldn't have any built up residue from others sweating in it when i go into tan. Last three times I've had to clean my own bed as well as the floors being as dirty as they are in the rooms or else I would give it more stars.

This is by far... The funkiest planet fitness I have ever been to. It's a medium sized location that definitely needs large sized vents.

It's overrun with college students that spends exorbitant times on machines on their phones rather than working out. The cleaning stations are rarely managed.

I've found that the only saving grace for the smell and crowd is to come at like 9pm.

Planet Fitness locations come with one of two equipment types- Matrix and Life Fitness. Having visited hundreds of locations, I avoid Matrix PF’s like the plague. No matter how clean or spacious a location (and this was both,) nothing can fix the horrific and downright dangerous design of some Matrix machines. The Matrix machine for abs and obliques, Rotary Torso, can probably only exist on the margins of ethical in a college town and is straight up wrong when the local gym population skews older. With no back support, you risk severely injuring your back if you want to work against any kind of resistance, so it’s essentially a hula hoop for most users. Life Fitness’s Torso Rotation is far more effective and ergonomic and has a well deserved cult following. But Matrix equipment is cheaper (those hard plastic handles!) and easier to fix, so it continues to ruin one Planet Fitness after another. Other signs that this Planet Fitness wants you in and out and thank you very much for the money- 1. no actual black card lounge, 2. one set of table and chairs and no outlet, 3. three very public showers and one changing area, so in reality only one person can shower at a time, and only during the wee hours of the morning if you don’t want to be undressed in front of anyone who needs to pee. This location is one of a shrinking number of locations that are still open 24-7, but otherwise it’s a bit of a disappointment.

PRO: It was convenient and inexpensive. Equipment (or alternatives) were almost always available.

CON: When I went here regularly, some equipment was chronically broken. There was also a clear choice by many not to wipe down equipment which, COVID aside, has always been nasty gym etiquette - nobody needs staph.

But really the main issue is they are completely incapable or unwilling to fix billing issues. After trying to close my account for summer, I was told I could freeze it instead so I could keep coming the rest of the month and just not get charged the two months I was away for research. If I wanted the freeze lifted early, I'd have to come in and talk to them. I got billed anyways and couldn't get responses to emails to fix it (I was out of reliable cell range). Once I got back they told me they'd credit me those two months to the next two months. Instead, I got billed again. When I went in to fix it, they said there was "no way" for them to keep track of whether it actually would be fixed or not so I would need to repeatedly check back to make sure I wasn't billed again. As if we live in a time without post it notes or calendar reminders or... basic office procedures to follow through on customer service.

I opted to cancel my account immediately until this was resolved and asked for a refund of the now 3 months I was charged but did not use services. I was told that I was billed because I kept coming in for the month I'd paid for after signing the freeze contract. The contract clearly shows no partial refund intended for that month and that only two months would be frozen, not three. They said the franchise can't approve any refunds and everything has to go through corporate. After numerous repeated calls and emails, I was told it was confirmed that it would be refunded. Surprise - it never was. No response to emails. Corporate says all refunds are in the franchise' hands and they can do nothing.

To be fair, people had warned me this was likely to happen with their billing but I decided to give it a chance anyway. Definitely a mistake - not worth it.

Well the facility has a reasonable amount of equipment and the price is cheap, to some degree you get what you pay for. In general the staff is nice but they almost never wash the floor, except for the locker room. Since the recent snow storms the floors have been filthy throughout the facility. On Christmas Eve they closed early, and 30 minutes before closing time the fire alarm went off and everyone had to evacuate even ealier,, while the loud alarm made the evacuation stressful. Finally there are never enough stretching mats, while the ones that they have are worn out and absorb sweat. So overall it is a decent facility oh, and the employees are friendly, but the management stinks (unresponsive to customers and rarely present) and the place is filthy.

My 14 year old daughter passed out in the gym a couple of days ago! The prompt help my daughter and I received was very much appreciated! Two kind club members helped get her to the couch while the manager, Clint, brought Gatorade and snacks and notified EMS. He checked on her often while we waited for EMS. My daughter is fine now, thank goodness! The kind ladies walked my daughter and me to the car after and Clint called to check on my daughter later that day. I'm deeply grateful for the help of Clint and the ladies who stayed with us through the whole ordeal! It was a scary moment made more tolerable due to the prompt attention and kindness of all involved!

Today, every machine I needed was being used, the stretching area was packed... It is often full of IU undergrads - some of which are vaping as they lift weights! I joined in June 2021... I'm part of the pre-dawn group, arriving very early in the morning. There's a core group of us each day (5-6 days a week) and there's a good sense of community amongst the members at that time. The first 6 months were great. The club was clean and well maintained. There was an occasion that I reached out to the Regional manager regarding questions and sharing observations and they returned my message in a timely fashion.
However, right about December/January it seemed like things kinda fell apart. soap in the rest rooms not filled, stalls without any toilet paper (the stalls have room for two of the mega huge rolls), gym area looking dingy... gave it a bit to settle knowing that there had been some staffing changes, but sadly it's not. Now in addition to the cleanliness, there are starting to be repeated maintenance issues... for example, one shower was out of order for two weeks (this particular shower is out of order pretty consistently), by the following week the locker room was down to only one shower working, and a bathroom stall that was out of order. And, then when all three showers were finally back to working, one shower was without a shower curtain for over a week rendering it pretty much useless.
One day a couple of weeks ago between the time of my arrival and 6am, someone had smeared some kind of brown substance throughout the locker room... it wasn't a matter of someone walking in with something on their shoes as it wasnt on the floor as you walked to the locker room, and it was as I said smeared on the locker room floor, the raised bench, a chair, the wall.
There have also been times when non-members are allowed to walk in to sleep on the couches or use the locker room. My intension is not to be uncompassionate... just that if one of the missions of Planet Fitness is to support this population in our community, it should be made clear to the members.
I am present at the 6am change of staff and I honestly see the staff who come in at 6 have to deal with things not addressed by the earlier shift (these individuals have had to wake up people on the couches, clean up the stuff that was smeared all over the locker room, etc.). I understand being short staffed (my profession relies upon hiring and maintaining many staff, so I get it), I'm actually pleasantly surprised by the number of staff this PF has. I have shared issues that have arisen with the staff present, typically as I'm leaving.
I understand that the response "from the owner" will suggest that I reach out to the club manager. My significant other whose been a member for many years recently tried to contact the club manager on a couple of occasions about the cleanliness and never received a response. They then reached out to the regional manager, who did respond.
My goal is not to pin anyone against the wall but to share observations. The club has been great and has great potential and I am hopeful it will get back to being so.
