I recently visited Planet Fitness as a guest and had a positive experience. However, when I attempted to change locations and visit the Maplecrest Rd Fort Wayne branch, I was treated poorly by the staff. Unfortunately, I perceived that the staff, specifically two-thirds of the females at the front desk, were not only rude but also appeared to racially profile me, denying me entry/membership based on my skin color. Their behavior was abrupt and unprofessional. While I understand that not having a full pass may be a valid reason for denial, I was taken aback by their swift decision to turn me away without offering me a membership opportunity. The staff explicitly stated that it was not their responsibility to sell me a membership and asked me to leave. As a result, I would advise individuals of color to exercise caution when considering a visit to this location.

They got new treadmills and I was having trouble connecting my Apple watch to one. I asked an employee (Capree) if she knew how and she said “no, but let’s find out together” and we walked to my treadmill and figured it out. I love that she took initiative to help me instead of just “nope.”

I went to the gym like I normally do. I asked a girl if I could use the massage chair, and she told me that someone was using it and that I could wait to take a seat. I waited for around 15 minutes — I had things to do, so I really felt like I was wasting my time. I eventually tried to go in, and when I entered, nobody was using the massage chair. The girl was just laughing. It felt really bad because I’m paying for that service.

The facility on Maplecrest is outdated… the massage chairs are completely worn out and hardly function. The tanning beds are older models and usually lights burned out. The floors are in need of a good cleaning. The Auburn facility has much much better equipment. The staff is great, but the facility is really in need of updates!!

Always clean and staff are very nice. I’ve always felt comfortable at this location. However, they just got new cardio equipment…. it feels cheaper than the old ones. Not much that can be done about it but still pretty disappointing. There’s also less ellipticals and it feels cramped now since there’s less so more people filling them up. The strength training machines are super close together now, and it feels like you’re bumping into eachother in there now. It’s something I’ll get used to but was not a pleasant surprise when I walked in for the first time after their reopening…

Night shift girls are terrible. Place is dirty, disarray, disgusting. One female employee, I have never seen work. She sleeps, plays on her phone and is always on massage bed and its always #8, the best bed. She does NOT get up. She doesn't help other workers or customers. Everyone complains about her. I miss Alex, Jalen and Jordan. They worked, locker rooms were clean. Its really going down hill.

Filthy and broken down equipment!!!!
Staff does nothing but stand around talking on their cell phones and they don’t care. Dirt on the equipment and around the equipment is disgusting and the urinals are so gross. No hand soap and dispensers are empty. No one is managing this place. Avoid avoid avoid.!!!

Dear planet fitness owner,
While you may think your canned response to my post takes care of the issue. It does nothing for the cleanliness of that facility. Pictures posted prove how disgusting the toilet and the urinals (per my husband) are - even a week after this was posted, nothing has been taken care of!! I would much rather spend a bit more on another membership elsewhere than put up with this. The cleanliness is only one of many issues. Broken down equipment. Members that abuse the rules and try up machines while on cell phone, and staff that stands behind desk chatting instead of cleaning and enforcing rules.

You’d think if you walk in the bathroom and an employee was cleaning they would give you some space for a minute, considering the bathroom and locker rooms are microscopic compared to other locations. Just a weird feeling environment even just walking in. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was super glad they had a total body enhancement machine (red light and vibration therapy). However, the vibration did not work at level 4. It would run the warm-up then shut off. I spoke with the staff who said they were aware of the problem. I wish they had made me aware before use as to not waste my time. I was able to run it in level 3. I also wished they would have closed captions on the televisions. What good is it to look at screens you cannot hear or read?

Shout out to Maddie (sp?)!! Planet Fitness, Maplecrest location was a huge help this morning! I was at a different Planet Fitness location at about 7:15 am, but it was NOT open. I called the Maplecrest location and talked to Maddie (sp?). She apologized several times (though it was not her fault!) for the other location not being open and began making calls to find an employee to open the club! I talked to her about 10 minutes later and she had found an employee who did come and open the Planet Fitness club at the other location. Well done Maddie! Thank you!

I've been a member since 2015-16ish Revamp the night shift staff. Jordan, and before that Nick, were amazing! Always welcoming Whoever replaced them can't ever be found and by the time she is she has the worst bedside manner and acts like checking into black card services is a major inconvenience for her. Really thinking about changing to the New Haven location. It's a shame because the evening staff make that 3:45 walk in the door better.

My experience at Planet Fitness has consistently been positive. The app provides a great way to check the gym’s current activity level, and the staff is always helpful, approachable, and a pleasure to interact with. The hydro beds and tanning services are top-notch as well. My only hope is that they return to 24/7 hours as soon as possible.

Great location, great use of split floorplan [cardio and weights seperate areas]
I am getting used to the New Matrix weight machines. Some fit well, some don't. But as in any gym, make do, use what works. The New Calf machine is great.🙂
Had a great chat Alexis and Marissa. Both were happy and engaging from the time I walked in, til leaving. 😎
My only complaint would be the New Smith Machines. There is a bar on one side that makes using/entering the machine one-sided 😕

Normally I don’t like to write negative reviews on places, but I just went in to cancel my membership about an hour ago and the staff member at the front was largely unpleasant to talk to. I’m sure he’s nice enough, but he didn’t look at me the whole time I was speaking to him and the way that he interacted with me was also just sort of rude. He asked me to explain my reason for canceling and I began to, but he quite flippantly brushed me off by stating “I only asked because I’m required to.” I don’t like to think I’m entitled to the most amazing service, it’s a fairly inexpensive (although nice) gym. I also understand having bad days and not wanting to talk to people (I work customer service as well,) but I was already having a less than stellar night and this just felt kind of demeaning and made me a bit sad.

Not all planet fitness for remote check in require to do so. And non of the other ones I've been to actually require you to give you your email as well...

Since I can't get there until 8:30 or 9:00PM I am usually there for 2.5 hours. Because I saw the sign on the door stating the gym was closing at 10 PM I haven't been able to go more than once since February. It's been more than 90 days since I was last there! It's very frustrating! Now I see they are open 24 hours only for the first half of the week.

equipment seems to be becoming out of service more frequently. the position of the window near the dumbbells causes that section to be in direct sunlight during sunset. no covers for this windows either. the fact that there's only 4 smith machines (3 now) means that you'll be waiting a decent amount if you go during even a slightly busy time (also I suspect that the machines feel a little less stable and smooth than the ones at the previous planet fitness I went to, though it could completely be a placebo). they're also missing a machine that was used for two handed cable rows, which isn't major but it is disappointing. however, the staff is always kind and respectful, and the gym is kept clean and I frequently see employees spending time cleaning the equipment.

For some reason i got a personal phone call from someone claiming to be from here about a review i left. I hadnt left one yet. So here it is...It's atrocious that people are giving ligament concerns about planet fitness and the owners responses are so quick to take it to one on one convo only Never claiming to fix any of the issues brought up. They did drop the 24hr thing and that is there biggest selling points to be 24hrs. I'd much rather go to a gym where I'm encouraged around filth rather then let down buy the experience.

Enjoy the benefits of having a trainer do classes at Maplecrest location! What a perk. We lost the trainer, but have had Sam teach a few sessions prior to Gabby and also has subbed in. Signed up 3 days ago for the $10/month level. This facility is large and has a ton of exercise equipment from treadmills to tanning booths!! I want to give a "shout out" to Sam Htoo at PF who assisted me. He was very professional, very polite, and very knowledgeable about the machines. He also knew which machines would target certain muscle groups. Thanks Sam.

This location is well-managed despite bad corporate decisions. At no point was a survey sent to paying members asking their input if it's ok to have the gym flooded with teenagers all summer for free.

The end result is groups of 3-4 kids, parking at machines you need to use and chatting with little work out. Great gym from Sept thru April. Avoid at all costs from May thru August.

Love the gym, the staff is always nice and courteous. Gym is always clean and taken care of. The only complaint I have is about the stair steppers. For instance, common sense tells you when you are done and you sweat all over them you clean them like a normal person would. Probably 9 out of 10 times I use one its so nasty because hardly anyone cleans up after themselves. I see people get off and don't even clean the bottom portion where the majority of the sweat goes. I clean mine like I work there and because I sweat all over it. My 3 year old niece cleans up better than more than half the people that use them. I want to bring my own signs in and put on them, maybe that would help. Guessing not but could be a solution to some extent.

It's a pretty decent gym overall for the casual gym goer. They have a lot of equipment and room, and the prices are very cheap compared to other commercial gyms. Their free weight section is pretty slim, but they aren't really known for that. I'd say this gyms biggest downfall is the room temperature water that comes out of the drinking fountain.
