I've been a member of Planet Fitness for a few months now, and I genuinely look forward to every visit. I was always intimidated in other gyms but Planet Fitness at 7451 Shadeland Avenue is amazing. The staff is friendly and no judgement.

You absolutely cannot beat the price. The regular membership is only $15 a month and $49 annual. And you get access to all the equipment. Not only that they are open all the time at all hours so you can work your day around your workout.

The atmosphere is consistently positive and welcoming. It's never overly crowded, and there is always plenty of cardio equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes) and a great selection of strength training machines. Crucially, the staff maintains immaculate cleanliness. The locker rooms and equipment are always spotless, which is a huge priority for me.

Whether you're a beginner, like me, or someone looking for a reliable, non-intimidating place to stay consistent, Planet Fitness is perfect. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and never pushy.

So sad about the remodel changes. This used to be my favorite PF in indy and now it's just the unfortunate close one. They gutted the machines section for a focus on weights instead. At least 2 of the ones I used to use are completely gone and only about 1 of each for the others now so no alternatives if someone's using the one you need. The hip abduction machines were replaced with the uncomfortable 2-in-1 versions that don't target the same areas as directly. No more 30min express area at all. The massage section also is now one open space with all the chairs next to/essentially facing each other so instead of relaxing in a private area you're right on display with people walking in and out and only a 4ft wall to separate you from just lying next to a stranger.

Most of the changes feel like they're really aimed at hooking people and getting sign ups but not actually worried about keeping them around.

Staff is always friendly and helpful, they keep it super clean too. Changes are obviously not their fault, but damn 😔

Not busy in the afternoon. I just joined this location. I have the black membership. I’ll let you know if it’s worth it in a couple of months. Actually it’s free on Medicare through silver and fit. Any planet fitness or ymca and get a free watch through Medicare. This place has lots of machines. They have a big enough facility and lots of standing weight machines. Variety is available here. Sauna and massage chairs available for black members. You can buy drinks and snacks at the front desk. It’s low key. That’s what I like 👍

I have a black card membership and my home gym is in Michigan. Just because it's franchised you can only go there 10 times. What the point of a black card then? Black guy with glasses up front was very nice and sincere, but the white skinny trainer dude came off as a hot head and thinks he runs the show.

First time there and it was good experience. Nice dude at desk very quickly got me set up and on my way.

Update: Since the original post, my experience has only improved. Everyone working there are friendly. The place is always clean, the cleaning stations are taken care of, and the locker area is clean.

I also go to a gym a few days of the week...let's just say North of this one...and it is a terrible experience. The people working at THAT gym are not friendly, equipment is often broken, cleaning stations are sometimes not full and even worse, there is only one partially functioning sink faucet. Hello fecal bacteria being spread everywhere!

The hours for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday say open 24hrs. Get their just before 10pm and go to the door and its closed. You should make sure your hours online are updated. You got the review you should let the manager know...it's your job...smh

It is usually not busy during the day as expected, however when it is the equipment is plagued with Instagram wannabes who hog the already limited equipment. The staff are indifferent and only greet you on occasion. Most staff sit on the back counter on their phones and never even look up. There are better options in the area if customer service and diverse equipment is important to you. If not this place might suffice your typical every no and again gym attendees.

The worst experience I ever had with membership. For some reason my card could not be billed and they started charging in my profile. No way to cancel this membership even if I wanted to because they do not give any option. Calls won’t work, no proper mail ids as per the contract to cancel. They simply love adding negative bills plus fines on it. What a joke.

Simply called asking for guidance on switching gyms out of state, and "Michael", literally said "use the app". But, when I tried to ask a question when logged on, he cut me off multiple times and said "Sorry, can't be talking to you all day, gotta go-" Hangs up instantly. This place has terrible customer .service. I tried to downgrade from black card online and over phone. I was told to come in to sign and lady couldn't figure out how to do it and had changed it so me had to do online. It is easy to sign up BUT IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCEL!! They then told me I had to come back in.Train your people. I am canceling the whole thing. This place sucks. Worst customer service ever.

This is by far the crustiest and most filthy of the PF locations I have been to. This is my home location and every time I come I am GROSSED OUT. The bathrooms and locker rooms are revolting. On top of that, your front desk staff never greets me, and always has an attitude. Every time I leave, I tell the person at the front to have a nice day and it doesn’t matter who it is, they NEVER respond. This is why I go completely out of my way to find a different location every single time. Y’all need to shape up.

It's fine - but compared to other Planet Fitnesses I've worked out at throughout a few different moves over the years the machines are less high tech and older. I love this place but every time I need to use the Hydromassage on a weekend the staff suddenly disappears and today the front desk was unattended for over 10 minutes, usually they are giving tours or doing refills but this has been the 3rd time they just are nowhere to be found. Out of all the Planet Fitness facilities I have been too this has be the filthiest club. I don't think they ever vacuum the men's locker room floors. As for the Bathroom I am reluctant to touch anything in there.
This morning was the topper, I heard a noise as I was leaving the locker room, as I walked around the corner one of the employees was using a cordless hand held vacuum to pick-up the dust from the corner.
Lastly the LED light in the locker room has been flashing for over a week.

When I joined this club it was so clean I’d tell everyone how well cared for by the staff dusting ,sweeping, cleaning machines and lifting treadmills to mop and sweep and wipe down each machine with wet cloth and cleaners.
Well today I can not say this is true it is filthy dust all over the floor and machines are are filthy. We are asked to wipe machines before and after using and we do it’s about time the staff cleans the gym. It needs a complete cleaning all over. Staff stands behind counter talking doing nothing I’ve spoke to them and they say ok but nothing has helped. I’ve asked for the manager and he isn’t in every time I ask to speak with him. Please the members need your help!!
All I want is what your commercials CLEAN THUMB CLUB it say they are the well health safety club.
I look forward to seeing this club clean like when I joined and staff keep up with the cleaning.

For the first few weeks everything was great. Staff were attentive and most of the exercise equipment worked. Starting in April noticed a few things turning negative.

It appears no one has time except for one individual to clean thru out the week I will say they do have a major clean up of treadmills and ellipticals on Monday. Hard to find a machine available when this happens.

PF clock still reads old time not Daylight savings time. Several monitors have listed channels on the bottom case but only two are on the correct viewing stations.

During my workout yesterday, 4 staff stood behind the counter laughing and talking for at least 1 hour while the one individual cleaned and dusted.

One male staff member did not wash his hands after relieving himself.

Seems maybe a higher than normal turnover
Of staff might be the cause. This was the major reason we left LA Fitness and moved to PF.

Front desk guy Oji was extremely nice and helpful with signing me up. However you can tell there were a few things he still needed to go over . The assistant manager Madison was obviously irritated by him, he asked her a question while signing me up for the black card . She looked at him and rolled her eyes . She seemed very disgusted by him. She then Said it was “personal” nothing should be taken “personal” while in the working field . My opinion …. other than that, the gym was fairly clean . Good experience.

I went today for the first time in over 6 months and while all the equipment is still there, there were several pieces of equipment out of order. The cleanliness is not where it should be. The men's locker room has only one functional shower out of 3 and no hot water. While it's still cheaper than anyone else at $10 a month, the lack of maintenance is making me question whether I should keep my membership here.
