After going to the gym pretty regularly for a few months, I've been looking for place like this to amp up my fitness game. I signed up for a trial class and was instantly obsessed. Not only were the workouts themselves just the right amount of challenging, but everything from the incredibly friendly, and welcoming front desk staff to the encouraging and knowledgeable instructors was just magnetic. I ended up signing up for several sessions following the free trial session. I cannot wait to see where this takes me and to become part of the SPENGA family!

So happy I found Spenga 3 years ago! The instructors are talented, supportive and motivating. The mix of spin, strength and yoga is exactly what I need being in my mid-50’s. Workouts are tough but doable and the yoga at the end feels amazing after 40 minutes of giving it your all. Studio is clean, front desk is helpful and there is a great community feel. I’m 68 & struggle with lupus. At my age it’s important to be strong, coordinated & healthy. I have a light within me that yearns for rejuvenation.This transformational journey at Spenga has cleared a field of blockages in me by remembering my origin. The workout routine is ‘cleverly devised’ for my overall body fitness. It’s fun & helps me feel good! When we’re all focused on the same task at hand, we bare witness for each other’s space through internal & external unity. Its like being in a supportive family. SPENGA Carmel provides effective workouts that target cardiovascular, muscular, and mobility health for significant improvements. The workouts provide resistance training without high impact to keep our bones strong. All the programming is created with fitness science in mind. The instructors are knowledgeable, competent, motivational, and friendly. The SPENGA community is warm and welcoming. The Power Revive class (yoga with weights) is one of the most effective and challenging fitness classes for me, providing toning, sculpting, and a full-body workout.
I occasionally visit another gym I enjoy just to spice up my workout routine with more variety and work on some CrossFit type skills I don’t get to do at SPENGA (like rope climbs, double-unders, skills on the rig, etc.). I have been pleasantly surprised at how effective SPENGA has been to keep me in a physically fit condition that allowed me to seamlessly integrate into the CrossFit classes and successfully do skills I had not tried in a few years.

When moving to Indianapolis as a travel nurse I tried out several different workout studios. After my first class with Beka I signed up for unlimited monthly classes. This place is everything you could want packed in an hour. I’ve always loved cycling but needed some weight training along with it. Never knew I needed or would love the yoga part. Within three months I had already hit 100 classes. They offer a variety of times working for my schedule. I usually go to the 5 am class and love having the locker room to shower after and make it to work downtown on time. Every instructor is great and will know you by name in no time. When I have to go to my next location as a travel nurse I sure am gonna miss this place! Will have to go somewhere with a SPENGA! Couldn’t recommend it more! Even got several coworkers to join!

I recently had a membership for about 9 months so I feel I can give an accurate pro/con list!
Pros: the facility is CLEAN. Someone cleans each piece of equipment after each group; I always felt very comfortable with the level of sanitation. Sheila is incredible and I do miss her motivation! The mix of different kinds of exercise is unique and interesting. They focus heavily on form and offer modifications to help prevent injury. They keep the workout areas nice and cool.
Cons: parking in this area is a crapshoot. The memberships and products are very expensive. Their late cancel fees are exorbitant and they force them even in inclement weather (the one day I missed was the major snowstorm this winter and they charged the full fee). I don’t think they maintain their bikes very well; after my first few months I noticed a lot of broken straps, a couple broken or stuck mechanisms, and pedals that felt… bumpy. These things were rarely or never taken care of. They are very pushy on their sales. They are very unorganized; they have a text line that goes directly to this office but it’s always a different person even on the same thread and they clearly don’t communicate to each other about previous messages. This led to some issues with getting on lists for special events, getting misinformation when asking questions, etc. They have a software that supposedly measures all your cycle info and reports stats on the app, but the software was broken for at least the last 5 months of my membership which was pretty frustrating. My understanding is that was corporate’s fault and there was nothing the local office could do about it. Finally, Cherie’s classes were really not my cup of tea. Some of the movements she required for weightlifting and yoga were laughably undoable for most humans and her toxic positivity was grating.
I left and got a YMCA membership for much cheaper unlimited similar classes. Still, SPENGA got me started on a great regular routine and I wish them no ill will. I’d recommend anyone give it a shot to see if this is for them!

Last minute booked SPENGA for my bachelorette weekend and they DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Seriously they went over the top in their hospitality. We had the whole place to ourselves with a personalized hype playlist! They also welcomed us with the cutest sign to welcome us. We had fun the entire time while still being challenged. They even took pictures for us before, during and after! If you have the chance to go, GO!

Awesome workout for any age and ability! Love that I can be sweating and cursing under my breathe in just 5 of the 20 minutes on the spin bike. Then take it onto the weight floor for a solid 20 minute strength session. Followed by 20 minutes of yoga and stretching to complete the well-rounded, full body workout. I try to go most weekdays so that I am getting in 3-5 workouts each week. I am thankful that the strength sessions are intentionally varied to strengthen certain muscle groups while allows other recently worked muscles the needed rest/recovery. Plus the varied spin sessions and strength floor routines add fun variety while helping to tone our bodies. Cherie and the coaches are all fantastic instructors and motivators. Highly recommend!

I left incredibly confused today. I was contacted by phone and by text by Marcy to confirm. I confirmed for the combo class and was instructed to come in at least 15-20 min early so that I could get fitted for a bike (for safety reasons). I arrived 25 minutes early.
I was then told by a young lady at the counter that it would just be a yoga class for 60 minutes. When I asked why it would only be the yoga class, I was then told that it must have been an automated message. It wasn't Im sure of that. The same person (Marcy) who left me a voice mail also texted to confirm. I was incredibly disappointed because I knew that was not true.
It was very confusing to be persistently contacted (Final Confirmation text from Cherie) about arriving early (like I did), only for things to be different as soon as I arrived.
I have done yoga on and off for over 20 years, and I am looking for something different. I will always enjoy yoga, but it alone is not what I was seeking, or I would not have come.
Also, I wore my padded cycling pants for the spinning portion and dressed for the combo class.
I really appreciated the opportunity to visit SPENGA, but I really wanted to try this class before the end of Spring Break.
I did get rescheduled. I will try again next week, hopefully.
Otherwise, I appreciate the quick walk through the beautiful gym. I honestly did not feel welcome there, only the undercurrent of being tolerated like some unwanted guest. (I hope I am wrong). The communication versus in-person visit were different. I wonder if how I look played any part. I am having second thoughts about going back. If I do, I will update this review.

Spenga is one of the best gyms in the Indy area. Every instructor is phenomenal. They challenge you but also encourage you. I've noticed a big change in my flexibility since doing Yoga for a year. I highly recommend this place. It is well worth the money and you will see results.

I love SPENGA! I am a bit competitive with myself so I like to workout at home a lot, group classes have never been for me, but I honestly fell in love with the structure of SPENGA during my first trial class! All the instructors are amazing and I have never had an issue with trying to get a question answered. I highly, highly recommend SPENGA!

I love the SPENGA family. I initially heard about it through one of the instructors while I was getting my haircut. She told me to bring a friend and try it out, and now I’m hooked! I love that any communication is positive and motivating. There’s no shaming and everyone is only competing with themselves. So glad to be apart of it!

I love the cardio, weights and yoga component. But I mostly live the coaches! They’re fun and friendly. It has an atmosphere of a little family. I love going! And I love that I can go as often as I’d like without breaking down my knees and back!! 💚💚

My mom and I happened to just walk in to spenga because I've always wanted to check it out. This was about a month ago. I've been to 5 classes since and loved every one of them. They are challenging exciting and each instructor cares so much about every student that comes to their class. Whether I go to an early morning class or one later in the day the excitement is still there. While spinning may never be my favorite I have learned to have a love-hate relationship with it and I now can say that I have conquered a fear and challenge that I never would have done without spenga. I want to give a huge shout out to Cheri, Kim, Lydia, and all the other front desk girls that make my workout experience so much better. I always work out about 3 days a week at home, but was missing the community so much. My heart is overflowing with love for all of you.

I just finished my 5th class with SPENGA. I've had 3 different instructors. They all have different styles but they're all very encouraging and motivational.
Due to COVID, they're keeping classes to 50% capacity (which is great!). Make sure you're ready to book about a week in advance! Definitely worth it though!

I love coming to this place! The classes are great and you can tell the instructors put a lot of effort in to plan a great class each time. The facility look clean and very covid friendly which is so nice.

Facility is clean and you are assigned a station upon arrival and it is yours for the entire class which means you are not sharing equipment with others (an added bonus during these times!). Everyone I've interacted with has been warm and welcoming. The coaches are encouraging and correct your form if needed. The workouts are challenging but the gym and programming are designed to met you where you're at. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone who may be intimidated at other gyms.
