Velocity is so much more than a gym. The coaches care about more than just your workout. They care about your overall wellness, your mental health, nutrition, sleep, stress level... All these things impact your performance. They are also some of the most educated in their field that I know. They dedicate a lot of time to educate their clients to help them succeed. Velocity has been a huge game changer for me. I have been fairly active for the last couple of years running. I have always struggled with strength training as I found working out at home alone was boring and was never 100% sure if I was doing it right, and results varied. My name is Nick, and this is going to be a long review. Please bear with me, it will be a good read!

At the age of 65, and going into my final year of being a full time Firefighter, I was tired!
I am 5’8” and was pushing 220 pounds. My body hurt, my energy levels were almost non existent.
I knew that I needed to change my lifestyle, what I was eating, and discontinue my alcohol consumption if I wanted to make it to 80!

I used to work out and had enough basic knowledge to know if I would get motivated and start I could loose some weight. But I had no direction, I didn’t want to do CrossFit, the “Y” or the big box gyms.
I wanted a true one on one training experience, I needed some one to actually teach me the correct way to stretch, the proper techniques to weight lifting along with the nutritional aspect.

I first saw an add on Facebook for Velocity and didn’t really pay much attention to it.
In true FB fashion it kept popping up in my feeds, and after a few weeks I realized that I knew someone in the ads.
A well respected member of the Fort Wayne Health Care community. When I contacted this person, they had a very high opinion of the owners and the staff, which is Velocity!

My first session was January 10th of this year, I almost didn’t go, I sat in the parking lot for awhile reciting all of the excuses I had used all of those years to not get healthy. I am so glad I forced myself to walk through that door!
As I am writing this review, I am two weeks shy of six months as an active member of Velocity.
I am down to 189 pounds, I have gone from a 38 inch waist to a 34, and the man boobs are half of what they used to be!

The coaching staff is unbelievably knowledgeable and they always have the time to assist you when you need it. They are our biggest cheer leaders.
I am no longer tired, I have that direction I was seeking, the coaches are constantly helping us push ourselves to do more, push more and learn more. They have treated me like family from day one!

If you are looking to make a change in your life, if you are looking to get healthier, stronger, more focused, then you need Velocity!!
I have a long way to go to meet my goals, but I have seen a physical and mental change!

You just have to show up, if I can do it so can you. Come meet the crew, become part of our family. Velocity truly is “a judgement free zone!”

On March 23 2025 I decided I need to take control of my health, I had heard great things about Velocity and decided to reach out to them. Sat down with Brad had a chat and decided to take the plunge. Best decision I have made in a very very long time. Tori and Sam have been amazing to work with. Tori has been on top of my nutrition and helping me understand how to manage that in an amazing way, she has always provided me with actionable items I can work on and guided me on how to manage my meals and relationship with food. Sam has kicked my ass in the gym. Seriously though he has helped me tremendously on how to lift and work out effectively and correctly. He pushes me to always give my best and is a constant motivator. The sheer amount of knowledge on how to correctly manage nutrition and working out has been amazing and an eye opener. I could talk and talk and talk about all the amazing things this Gym is doing, but I’ll end with a short personal journey: Before velocity my A1C (this determines if you are diabetic) was all over the place and was only in control due to meds like insulin, and when I worked out or played sports I would eventually injure myself due to bad form or doing things the incorrect way. After 12 weeks at Velocity - my blood sugar is the best shape it has been in a very long time (completely of insulin now), and I am having the best time working out I have ever had. The entire team at Velocity is amazing, everyone there is ready to help and work on helping me achieve my goals. So if you have made it this far in the review, what are you waiting for?

Before joining Velocity, I was struggling with pretty severe knee and elbow pain that made it difficult to enjoy my favorite activities like sports and hiking. I didn't know how to rehab this so I felt trapped in a cycle of inactivity, which in turn made exercise painful, which in turn made me not want to exercise. I also suffered from acid reflux that made intense exercise something I thought I wouldn't be able to handle.

Velocity has been transformative for me. I have true experts guiding me on proper nutrition, exercise, and recovery tailored to what I need. They've helped me set realistic expectations and design workouts that help me build strength without setbacks. I just show up and follow their lead.

My knee and elbow pain have significantly improved and I can keep up with my friends on the soccer field and in hikes which I couldn't do 2 years ago. I also believe regular exercise has been the best thing for my acid reflux. I've tried different diets and medications but none have worked as well as exercise. I'm happier and more confident now that I'm no longer in constant discomfort.

I am a newer member of Velocity and by new, I mean I am only on my third session. I wish I would have come in sooner. I had my first meeting with Brad who was super kind, informative and understanding. He took my crying (yes, literal crying) very well and understood what I was looking for even if I didn't. Thanks for that, Brad!! :D

I have been working with Tori who is super knowledgeable and her dedication to teaching me has been unmatched! I learned the art of lifting in high school and THOUGHT I was taught proper technique but she has shown me the proper technique and mechanics of each exercise and I already feel a difference. She listens and takes thorough notes on any issues I am having.

I have not had much interaction with Chelsea, but the little I have had she seems super kind also!

I can tell you, everyone is encouraging and you never have to feel like you are being judged. Everyone there has their own goals in mind but for the most part, they are like-minded individuals. It is a great place for beginners and seasoned athletes. If this tells you anything, I HATE HATE HATE mornings, but I actually look forward to coming here even if I have to get up at 4:30 a.m. to be there by 6:00 a.m.

HIGHLLLYYYY recommend this gym. It’s great for everyone- those who have never walked into a gym before, those who are already in shape, those who are injured, and even seasoned athletes.

I joined velocity a year after an accident that left me with a lot of pain in my hip, knee ankle and foot. Previous to the accident I was a runner, biker and I did at home resistance workouts multiple times a week. After the accident I could barely walk without pain and was stuck on the couch for a solid year, losing muscle and gaining weight.

After seeing multiple physical therapists and orthopedic specialists with no improvements, I messaged the owners of velocity and got in for a consultation (best decision I’ve ever made for myself.)

They gave me their full attention, assessed what was wrong, designed workouts just for me while making sure I was moving properly and had the right form to make sure I wasn’t hurting myself.

Within 4-5 months my pain was significantly decreased and I could walk long distances again!!!!! Then in 6-8 months my pain was mostly gone, just random flares. Now today- 10 months after joining- I don’t experience any pain. None. Nada. Zilch. I CAN RUN AGAIN. I’m stronger than I’ve ever been and I feel amazing and constantly motivated to keep improving.

Brad and Chelsea really do know what they’re doing- their philosophy works. They’re here to help you improve in a way that benefits you physically and mentally, not in a way that makes you feel bad about yourself. They truly believe in what they’re doing and you can feel it when you’re there, which is such a rare and lucky thing to find.

The best. Period. After years of CrossFit beating my body into a pulp and not getting the proper recovery, switching to a commercial gym for years and not staying consistent with my workouts, lacking motivation and accountability, I found Velocity Barbell. The group classes are small enough that you get the proper coaching that you need. If your form is wrong, the coaches will correct you. It is easy to say this place is great, and you will love it but that really doesn't do Velocity the justice it deserves. You will be hard pressed to find a more welcoming environment in the Fort Wayne area.

I was extremely hesitant about joining yet another gym, going through the motions as I had with so many other memberships. Needless to say, after the first meeting with Brad and Chelsea, I knew I was going to join (if they let me). It didn't feel like the typical gym and after a couple months that still remains true. Brad and Chelsea are both extremely knowledgeable and accommodating to skill level or injuries, the facility is great and 24 hr. access is awesome.

AMAZING! I wish there were more stars to give. I signed up for the 6 week challenge and was nervous going in. I have always been a “cardio bunny” type. Weights and any type of lifting intimidated me. It was amazing watching my body change and reaching results I’ve wanted for years but never achieved even after hours on cardio machines. And SO much more fun too! There are no egos from coaches or members, everyone is there to support and build each other up. Great staff and great facility!

Velocity was a great experience for me. I did the 6-week program and ended up losing 22 lbs and 6.5. % body fat. On top of that I learned how to lift properly and got a lot of great work outs.

They also give you a recipe book and diet plan during the 6-week program which gave me a huge leg up in weight loss and being healthier.

I was able to meet with Brad today with some assistance in looking at my form on barbell squats and deadlifts. I had never had any formal training before my session with him. He was incredibly helpful in identifying and correcting the process that I had during my lifts. He was knowledgeable in explaining the physiology of the movements and how slight changes can affect my lifts.

I found it really helpful that we were able to record every set that I did and go through each one to look at my specific movements on what I was doing right and what I could be doing better (then subsequently implementing the recommendations in the next set).

Both Chelsea and Brad are very encouraging people and makes lifting incredibly rewarding. Their facility is very open and has a welcoming feel to it that makes it not at all intimidating to enter. I would definitely recommend Velocity Barbell to anyone who just straight up wants to get better at lifting.

I will always be thankful for Velocity Barbell, Coach Chelsea, and Coach Brad! I just finished their 6 week weightloss challenge. I lost 25.82 lbs in the 6 weeks with their guidance and encouragement. (I suffer from hypothyroidism, which was always my weight gain excuse). The challenge comes with meal plans and workouts with the coaches. They WILL hold you accountable which is what I really needed. They actually made working out enjoyable!
