One of my favorite places to work out!
Everything is extremely clean, and I don't ever feel like I'm being judged!
The people here do kind and amazing!
10/10 would recommend.

I would not recommend this gym if you have kids. I am constantly turned away from the daycare because they are short staffed. Every member that uses the daycare pays extra for the service, so I don’t understand why they can’t figure it out. They send out notices for other closures so I don’t know why they don’t bother to send out notices when they cannot accommodate members at the daycare. It’s a lot of time and effort for parents to haul their kids here in the snow just to be turned away from a service they pay for.

I recently visited the YMCA with my 6-year-old daughter for a birthday party and was impressed by the variety of activities available for all ages. The facility includes a large pool with different levels suitable for both kids and adults, making it a fantastic spot for families. While the birthday party area was a bit small, it was still adequate and well-organized. Free parking is also a great convenience, adding to the overall positive experience.

We love the Y, but during "basketball season", the courts are filled for volleyball or other practices for 5 months of the year. There aren't any open courts during the week after 5pm. One court should always be open, everyday, after 5pm. My kid is playing in basketball leagues during this time of year, and this is his only opportunity to be able to go practice. With the $900 membership we pay, one open basketball court during "basketball season" to shoot some hoops after he gets out of school isn't much to ask for. It's getting tough to justify the membership.

My grandkids took swim lessons out of town, water was "too deep" for them. The 5 year old was anxious. Here at the Y, they were having such an amazing time. Water level was perfect to build confidence. I'm definitely going to have to bring them back.

This location discriminates again the elderly, and people with disabilities. They refuse to take insurance paid program (Silver sneakers).

There is a path to walk around the building that also goes through some woods and it's very relaxing! None of the hills are steep, so it's not too difficult for our old dog. It's nice to have somewhere that feels safe to walk around and get some fresh air.

I have been trying to get a scholarship to the YMCA for over a year and a half. Couldn't get any one to respond to my text. Then today I called and the lady I spoke to was very matter of fact and rude. She was not helpful at all. I am very disappointed in this facility and I'm not going to try any more. I don't want to go to any place with an attitude like that

I had a great experience at this facility! It was my first time visiting a YMCA, and I was actually attending a course for CPR/First Aid training. It went really well. Everyone was very nice, and I learned a lot! The facility seemed very clean, and it was in a good area. I would definitely return here to get re-certified in the future, and I would recommend it for anyone who is interested.

I’ve been a member of the NW YMCA since it opened and regularly use the cardio equipment. It’s a very nice setting and is usually not too crowded in the morning. However, with the COVID-19 situation worsening and especially the contagious Omicron variant, I wish the Y would start requiring proof of vaccination (my son’s gym in New York does this). If proof of vaccination is never going to be required, I would at least like to see mask wearing & social distancing enforced for those not actively using cardio equipment (weight area, stretching area, walking on the track while talking on a cell phone etc.). Too many times people sit down on a mat 2-3 feet away without a mask on or walk up to people and pull down their mask to talk (I guess they think they can’t be heard, but it defeats the whole purpose of the mask!). People constantly talk on a cell phone while walking on the track without a mask. All of this wouldn’t be so bad if proof of vaccination was required. Otherwise, could employees start enforcing the mask policy?

I went today to watch my 6mos grand baby to learn how to swim. The instructor was so very nice and noticed every single baby. He pointed out very good advice for each baby since they are at different ages. I strongly recommend go visit the YMCA

Love the area, people and staff are nice. Tho only thing I wish this ymca had is a hot tub, it would be nice to have a really good workout and to go into a hot tub afterwards to relax. I go to the one on the south side to go to the hot tub sometimes

I swim 3 days a week (usually T-Th-Sun), but today I went on Wed instead, (at 0900), after checking swim schedule (Aquafit Deep 1030-1115). Imagine my surprise when class actually began at 1000, and I was unable to complete my 2000 yard workout. The 1030-1115 schedule is posted online, on printout I received when I joined last month, and is also posted on pool wall. Please make corrections, so other members will also not be shorted. Thank you

I dunno why Bloomington is so proud. The full membership in my hometown is $37 plus 10% off for military with the joiner fee waived. For Spencer and Martinsville it's $50 for TWO adults! Also this location doesn't offer enough in the evenings.

I have been a member for over three years and workout at the northwest location. I have always had a great overall experience and when things weren’t perfect, the staff has always worked hard to correct any issues. Our children love the the staff and are always excited to visit with whoever is working. The culture is coming along and I do enjoy being apart of it!

Membership is absolutely reasonable as YMCA is the only organization in Bloomington that provides childcare. Staff are extremely friendly and swim classes are great. Kiddie pool area is a very nice touch as well. Weight/gym area will get most people by occupying a much smaller footprint than the South location. Also, weights being set down for exercises such as deadlift will make a lot noise sending staff to warn you even though the floor is bare concentrate on the second floor! Terrible plan with no future plans for floor mats.

Holiday hours or closure is not clear communicated. Programs are shrinking at this location too.
