This fitness class is wonderful. All exercises are carefully explained and demonstrated. The educational presentations were extremely interesting and well delivered. I have recommend Age On to many friends

I have been attending AgeOn Fitness for 2 months. It has been a great decision! With Jake’s background as Physical Therapist with a Geriatric specialization, he works with all of us and meets us where we are. His classes are motivating and fun. He always has fresh ideas for every workout. I have noticed an increase in strength, endurance and flexibility. I feel healthier and more motivated to continue to improve my bone and muscle strength. Jake has been a great resource and I am grateful he has chosen this path for his profession.

The first time I spoke with Jake I explained my 40+ years of "extreme exercise and "feel the burn". He was super kind and simply encouraged me to give Age On a try. I arrived at my first Age On class exhausted and hurting from past injuries. My goals were to regain strength, improve my posture and above all, to add no more injuries!!! That was 2 months ago. This gym has everything I was looking for and so much more. Jake's background in Physical Therapy and his knowledge of the human body was easy to see from my first day . Jake's ability to adapt the movements to individual needs, his professionalism, and passion for helping each of us sets this gym apart from any other workout gym I'd previously experienced! The members are great..welcoming, helpful, and encouraging one another all throughout class time. I'm happy to say that my strength is improving and so is my posture. I'm even enjoying more activities with my 8 busy grandchildren :) I'm so grateful I've found "my people" Dee

I enjoy the classes. I appreciate that while the group is doing an an exercise, Jake observes, listens, and as needed, adapts the activity to suit the needs and capabilities of each participant.

After recovering from a hip replacement I was looking for someone who would understand where I was physically and help me regain strength, reduce pain and increase my confidence. Age On is just the place. Jake has the education and experience to help anyone who is reaching an age where bits and pieces just don't work like they used to when we were younger. He will adapt the workouts so everyone can benefit at their own level. I've only gone to a few sessions but I'm very excited to see where this leads over the next few months.

Jake combines his PT expertise with the ability to meet everyone where they are physically for a fun workout. No matter what the day's exercises, he modifies them to work for everyone in the class. No one feels left out or behind. He is very positive and motivating. He spends time on why a particular exercise is helpful for those of us over 55. Time well spent.

Jake's Age On exercise program has been invaluable to me. I signed up about six weeks ago on the recommendation of the nurse practitioner who treats me for osteoporosis. I knew I needed to be doing weight bearing and strengthening exercises but was not comfortable doing so on my own or in a traditional gym setting.

Jake's expertise in geriatric physical therapy and osteoporosis made me comfortable taking risks that I would not have done in any other circumstances. With Jake's guidance, I am able to lift heavier barbells (35 pounds and counting), dumbbells, and weights than I ever had before. I am also able to push, pull, and carry heavy objects. Jake is teaching me how to do hip strengthening exercises that are paying off in terms of being able to climb stairs. In each class we do a variety of exercises that are fun, challenging, and help me see day-to-day improvement.

Jake is a good instructor and does an excellent job monitoring each student and making suggestions for improvement. He is very positive and encouraging to everyone. When we talked about my frustrations with long-lasting weak hip problems, he said, "We'll get there." I really appreciated the message that he and I are partners in me reaching my goals for improved physical health.

Jake offers a unique program that is challenging, exhausting, and fun. I highly recommend it to anyone over 55 who wants to be healthier and stronger. It is a privilege to exercise in the wonderful community that Jake has created in his classes.

Ageoniowa has been a God send! Within the first month I felt more sure footed and stronger in all my daily movements. I surprised myself! Jake put to rest my concern about doing too much and risking injury from a knee replacement and other aches and pains. Moving in new ways has been so rewarding. The one thing I wasn’t expecting was my mental health boost. When your body is stronger so is your mind!

I have found AgeOn fitness classes to benefit my balance, flexibility, strength, and overall fitness, while also providing social interaction and a sense of community. The physical and mental well-being aspect of Age On Physical Therapy & Fitness are a major plus!!!

The strength training is helping me maintain and build muscle mass and strength, which is important for staying active and independent. It’s been an amazing experience for me and I look forward to continuing the journey!!!

I joined AgeOn for core strengthening, after having a series of problems with joint pain and loss of mobility. I appreciate the individualized support in a small group strength training class. Jake makes sure that everyone participates by adapting to our limitations, and also scales up so that everyone is challenged. Since he is a physical therapist I’m very confident in his guidance, and I really appreciate the motivation and positivity. The atmosphere is welcoming, friendly and energetic -- we all support each other and celebrate our daily accomplishments. It’s been a couple of months and I’m seeing improved strength and balance, and significantly less pain. I am confident that I will be able to stay active and keep doing new things!

Jake is an incredibly motivating
instructor. His classes are fun, challenging and have already, after three classes, given me more movement confidence, running, jumping, type things. I appreciate that he is trained to understand the needs and issues with our geriatric bodies and works with each of us like a personal trainer. I am 81 and love this class.

At 82 I had a bad fall with hip fractures and a broken elbow. After surgery, recuperation and standard physical therapy, I had consultations with the Bone Health Clinic at University of Iowa Hospital, where I heard about "AgeOn" and Jake Raecker.

From the first session, Jake understood my fear of trying things I thought I would never do again. He showed me how to keep improving while not endangering my old osteoporotic bones.

I leave the sessions not discouraged that I didn't do things perfectly or meet the pace of others, but knowing I have done more than I thought I could. He tailors the moves to each of our abilities, with lots of options and personal suggestions for each one in class. Everyone in the classes enjoys seeing the others making progress.

Recently, I found myself smiling while crossing the gym floor to the beat of the background music, putting a few extra steps in the particular exercise we were supposed to do. Actually, it is easy to smile all through the class, even with a faster breathing rate! There are also some great people in the classes, many facing serious health problems, but all learning how to build our stamina and strengthening our bodies in a fun atmosphere (without the need of skin-hugging latex).

Jake is a real talent and a treasure. He is very sincere in his approach to helping in a situation where we often feel a bit on our own, trying to stay mobile and able. In the first few weeks of classes (twice weekly), I was again able to get up from the floor without crawling over to a chair to lean on in order to get up on my own.

I don't see 5-mile runs in my future, but I am looking forward and I feel stronger and very pleased with my progress, thanks to Jake.

I’ve been with Age On for a couple of months now. I met Jake at a meeting where he spoke about bone health. I am hoping to stabilize early stage osteoporosis. The classes involve various equipment and workouts. Jake offers individual attention to each person‘s strengths and limitations and always provides adaptations. He doesn’t push, he encourages. I like that he is a physical therapist as I feel safety is a priority in class. I have noticed a significant improvement in my strength already!! I look forward to our classes and the supportive fun group. I would highly encourage you to give this a try. I am looking forward to a healthy future by increasing my strength, stamina, and agility. I want to be able to travel and play with my grandchildren well into my retirement years. Let’s move!!!

Age On — Jake’s exercise program — has improved my flexibility, my strength and endurance amazingly in 2 1/2 months. Do you think you’re too old to improve? I’m 76 and telling you it’s possible.
