I've been practicing yoga for several years but just recently came back to Ashtanga Yoga because I felt I needed to focus more on my strength & be challenged mentally & physically. Curtis is a knowledgeable teacher of Ashtanga & is very dedicated to the Ashtanga practice, while also being supportive & good natured. The space he has created is beautiful & peaceful. Definitely check his classes out!

I had been working with Curtis for Pilates and we decided to integrate yoga into the cycle. I am very glad that we did, as Curtis is a dedicated, inspiring and gifted teacher.

I really enjoy practicing with Curtis, he is very knowledgeable and loving. I have been practicing for 10 years now and been without a teacher for 4 years. I found my next teacher! π

I started ashtanga yoga as a complete beginner and I love the challenge a lot already! I remember walking in and meeting Curtis and I really love his energy. He is very positive, observant, funny and helpful. The center is equally relaxing and one heck of a workout ha! It's a great place all around for growth not only in your body but with your mind!

I started attending classes here a little over a year ago as a beginner to yoga. Thanks to Curtis I feel I've made much progress and my love for the practice continues to grow. Curtis cares about his students and is very knowledgeable and helpful. This is a wonderful studio and I would highly recommend it. I always leave class feeling great and looking forward to the next one.

This is a wonderful studio for yoga practice. I live the community aspect and ability to practice with other like minded individuals. What makes this studio different is Curtis as he is a fantastic teacher, I have never worked with anyone who was more dedicated to learning himself and helping his students transform and grow. I would highly encourage you to try it!

I have been practicing at the Ashtanga Center of Greater Des Moines for nearly two years now, it is a gem of a studio! I have progressed more than I would have ever imagined I could in poses, strength, and confidence. Curtis is an extremely dedicated, knowledgeable, encouraging instructor and personal trainer. He provides informative feedback and recognizes individual growth in his students. Ashtanga yoga is powerful and a real game changer if you are looking to transform your yoga practice, or are just beginning your practice. I am excited to continue my journey with my Ashtanga practice with Curtis leading the way!

I have been studying Ashtanga with Curtis for about two and a half years. Almost every month I notice measurable progress with some pose, and I can do some poses that I didn't even attempt a year or two ago. Curtis is very observant and provides specific feedback tailored to individuals in the class. Since March 2020 I have been taking the classes via Zoom to reduce my exposure to COVID-19. Curtis still notices and corrects problems with my form.

I have been practicing yoga for several years but I'm fairly new to Ashtanga. I have made so much progress when it comes to advancing my asana since coming here. I am finally able to do some poses that I thought I could never do.

Curtis has a strong, loving presence. His teaching style is warm and encouraging yet challenging and fun. He knows when to laugh at himself and bring levity to the room - that is such a refreshing quality to find in the culture of yoga that tends to take itself a little too seriously. Itβs fantastic to find someone in DSM that teaches Traditional Ashtanga!
