Sauna is consistently off during the day, and there is never not a line for the machines, so prepare for your workout to last 30 minutes longer than it should. Place is terrible, to many people (good for the business) the main thing they don’t talk about is they make you pay 3 months without telling you, so if you wanted to “try it out like me you still gotta pay $300 or more. The 3rd month they charge you $90 for one month. Reminder I told them to put me on the $10 one and they have been charging me $30. The main thing is $90 charge for your 3rd month and $90 to quit your membership. Would NOT recommend this place it is terrible. They also don’t state any of this when you sign up.

I absolutely loved this gym! It’s super clean, spacious, and has tons of machine options for every workout. But what really stood out to me were the dance classes — honestly, some of the best dance classes of my life!! The instructors bring so much energy and fun, it made every workout something to look forward to.

I recently moved to Florida and had to switch gyms, but I have to say — the Crunch here doesn’t even come close to the 5-star service and vibe of the Urbandale gym. I’ll really miss this place!

This place is just what I needed! My sister and I recently joined after looking at a few other options and trying out the 7-day free pass. We were so impressed with the number of machines, the weights, variety of classes, open hours, hydromassage beds, but one thing that stood out was the staff! Steve and his team are so friendly and welcoming, not intimidating like at some other gyms. And Tai was awesome! We had a session with him to go over some equipment and discuss a plan. He made us feel comfortable on some weights and equipment we've never used, and made sure we were using them correctly. He also had friendly tips on a nutrition tracking-app. The Crunch app has also been very helpful. Looking forward to committing to a healthier life with the help of Crunch Urbandale! The customer service is terrible. Employees have no idea what their policies are and fail to explain proper steps. I am pregnant and recently cancelled my membership. Today I receive a phone call with no empathy or compassion. I paid my outstanding balance and they want to force another month to be paid in order to have my membership cancelled. Mind you it took them a month to contact me and tell me the policy and procedure. My friend also cancelled their membership and did not receive this treatment. I would not recommend this gym unless you want to be overcharged and penalized due to life events that occur.

This was my first time at this location and it was the worst experience I have had at any Crunch. The manager on duty, a white male with tattoos and a shaved head, went out of his way to be rude. He accused me of jumping the line when I simply scanned in while an employee was busy at the computer. At my home club this is normal, so I tried to explain that and even offered an apology. Instead of listening he rolled his eyes, was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional, and said “let’s see what excuse you have.”

Eventually he half-heartedly apologized after I explained everything, but by then the damage was done. A manager should not treat people like a problem or pick a fight with someone on their first visit. This was unprofessional, disrespectful, and not what I normally experience.

So incredibly slow. I have tried to tan twice now after my workout and I waiting 30 MINUTES! First time no one came up to the desk, second time the rooms were dirty she told me to sit and wait and proceeded to not clean them for 30 min. Ridiculous. I will never understand why they shut down the locker rooms during the height of the afternoon rush. For hours, the men’s locker room is inaccessible due to them pressure washing EVERYTHING including the actual lockers (with your stuff inside), showers, sauna, stalls and urinals are not able to be used due to them flooding the floors and then running a machine throughout. This whole process takes 2-3 hours from start to finish. The maintenance/cleaning guy is very nice but this is incredibly frustrating to members who want to take advantage of these amenities.

I’m giving this particular gym and location a three star based off of my experience I like going to crunch fitness but I feel as if when you join they are not detailed about all the charges and How’s the promotion they have. If you are late by three days, you are charged $20 extra. No gym I’ve been to ever charge so much considering you’re paying $33 the most here they’re gonna charge you over 50% of what you pay. If the membership was $100, I could understand the $20 late fee but not when it’s only $33 To me that just seems like you’re trying to squeeze out as much money from anybody you can. Not only that, but if you are late, they’ll charge you that $20 fee plus you’re not welcome to come into the gym until it’s all paid so regardless you have to pay that $55 for a 29.99 Gym membership but yet you can’t come back into the gym until it’s paid. If you didn’t have a late fee that would’ve been more understandable.

have been a member since the opening of the urbandale location, havnt had a problem with anything other then occasional machine break downs which i get, it’s a gym and weights get slammed but there’s a particular employee i don’t know the name of but he looks like a prepubescent 23 year old child that’s never touched a dumbbell in his life that seems to have the nerve to cut my tanning session short after i had applied 15$ worth of tanning lotion and after i’ve dumped 1000s of dollars into this gym, the only reason he cut it short (the reason i think) is becuase i didn’t have protective eye wear after i had just walked a mile to my car to grab them. i don’t know why this guy thinks he can do that when im the one putting money into his paychecks. moral of the story no matter how much money and time you put into this gym you won’t get what you pay for.

Stopped in on a Saturday at Urbandale location in Iowa when traveling back to New Mexico. Locker room itself was clean and the urinals were kept and clean. The setup was a one big room setup, and functional. A part of me wants to give it 4 stars because of this, but I have to stick to the cleanliness, functionality, and condition of the facility/equipment for these reviews. It had a bigger floor plan than the most, but not as big as the Lincoln, NE location. Again, unless you are a professional bodybuilder, this gym has everything you need for a workout. No damaged equipment when I visited.

Gym has taken over 700 out of my account. my son who has disabilities was gifted the membership. i put it in his name, they are refusing to cancel the membership. say they can't talk to me because it isn't my account, however they gladly take it out of MY account since my disabled son doesn't even work. I have repeatedly asked them to cancel this account.
This edit comes from the response where they sure make it sound easy to cancel but they won't even talk to me about the account because it's not in my name but it sure comes out of my bank account. I have tried to talk to multiple people who've refused to speak to me because it is not my account. I have had to pretend to be my disabled son on the phone and through email just to get them to freeze the account. They don't care whose bank account it comes out of they just care whose name is on the account. Very shady.

I really don’t have a lot of positive to say about this place. First off, it is always packed, So be prepared to switch up whatever you thought you was gonna work out because you never know what you’re going to be able to do. I have been here at different times of the day ranging from five in the morning till four in the afternoon and there has not been a single time It hasn’t been extremely packed. Secondly, it Is extremely dirty. People wipe the machines down after they use them, but nobody cleans up the machines around the base of the floor, there is dust and hair and gum and garbage, absolutely disgusting. There was spit marks on the mirror in front of the Smith machine for two solid weeks. The men’s bathroom is absolutely disgusting. They get in there and they power wash the floor with bleach and you walk through there with puddles of water everywhere. But they don’t Seem to clean the toilets, there is stuffed dried all over it, hair, dried up pee. Toilet paper all over the floor all the time.. It’s only been open for a little over a year but you would think it is a 20 year old gym with how dirty it is.. If you’re the type of person that want to video record yourself working out then I guess you might like it, but myself I can’t stand seeing the tripods all over the place all the time.. Lastly, if you don’t sign another contract, your rate goes up and they did not explain that. Plus I got charged a $75 annual fee that nobody told me about, so when I canceled I asked if I would get that prorated back since I’ve only been seven days past the contract And they said no, And on top of that, they’re going to make me pay for another month after this even though it says cancel anytime you can’t cancel canceling time. You still have to give a 30 day notice. I thought I was going to love this gym when I first got there, it’s huge and lots of equipment, heavy dumbbells. But they just don’t take care of the place. I would rather pay way more for a better gym member.

Really love it here. Just wish their dance exercise classes were easy to follow as their descriptions say they are. I wish they were more like the Jane Fonda or Turbo Jam exercise videos, which are easy to follow. You need to be an experienced dancer to follow the ones at Crunch, which isn’t applicable for most people.

The people are all amazing, from the staff to the people working out.. I'm beyond blessed to be able to workout at Crunch and I'm grateful for everyone who's been apart of my journey. I seriously couldn't do this without you and I thank God for creating each and everyone of you. I drive all the way from south side of Des Moines to come to this crunch fitness and it’s the best gym I’ve been to in my 54 years. I recommend this gym to everybody I see!!!

Been here since they opened. I have yet to see them cleaning this place, there is a dust and crap almost an inch thick that’s been collecting at squat racks and I have yet to see it swept. This is the stuff everyone is inhaling, price justification doesn’t count, please keep this place clean and safe.

I go to crunch at night 4days a week, the staff at night is always helpful, I’m a first time gym goer and couldn’t be more pleased with the help and advice they give me. I recommend for first time gym goersto go to this gym. They’re very helpful.

This location is sooo amazing! I haven't had a group fitness glass as great as Larissa and Emily's so you think you can dance class! I've gotten 3 of my friends to sign up because of it. I travel for work and no other crunch is as friendly and clean as this one!

By far the best gym I’ve ever workout in! Came as a guest and immediately went to my other gym to cancel my membership. The environment is clean and encouraging! The staff is always welcoming and personable. I’ve trained with Kee for nearly 3 months and even with my prior knowledge in lifting, he’s been able to teach me so much more about isolated workouts and form!! Would 10/10 recommend him as a trainer! From the staff to the amenities, nothing beats Crunch for the price.

Crunch Fitness is by far my favorite gym! I’ve been a consistent member since the day it opened, and it’s been a fantastic experience from the start. The facility is always clean, the equipment is well-maintained, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Members are respectful when it comes to sharing machines, which makes for a great workout environment.

One of the things I appreciate most is the daycare. I have two small children who absolutely love going—they look forward to seeing Melissa, who takes such great care of them. It gives me peace of mind knowing they’re in good hands while I get my workout in.

The staff at Crunch is top-notch. I’ve built great relationships here, and people like Steve and Grant always go out of their way to make sure everyone’s needs are met. Friendly, helpful, and professional—everything you’d want in a gym staff.

Highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a supportive and well-run gym!
