Nice space and good heat. You can expect a less spiritual experience here than you may have at other more traditional yoga studios, and there is very little focus on breath in some classes. However, you WILL sweat and you WILL do yoga. At this location in particular I feel that some of the teachers are not super welcoming.
Note: there is ZERO free parking onsite, so expect to pay meter rates (maximum 1 hour which isn't rly enough) or pay for the parking deck across the street at this location. If you ride your bike you're taking your chances with the public rack out on the street. Just some things to be aware of that I wish I knew ahead of time. ๐

This place became my home away from home in Iowa City. I fell in love with the classes & community here instantly and really connected with the instructors - especially Maren. She is incredibly talented and has a true gift for teaching and inspiring others. Her classes were a huge light in my life when going through challenging times. I have since graduated from the University of Iowa and moved out of state, but HHY will always hold a very special place in my heart. I plan to visit Iowa City again someday (hopefully soon) just to make a stop at HotHouse ๐ฉท

As a former dancer who now attends college at the University of Iowa, Hot House Yoga is my favorite place to release all my stress. I feel welcomed and encouraged every time I come. I've taken classes in California and Chicago and nothing beats the classes right here in Iowa City. Instructors are all very well trained, the community of members are always in a good mood, and I think Hot House Yoga is the best place to practice self love.

It's soothing, relaxing, yet energetic, all while enjoying a good sweat. Maren, Darcy, Tiphaney, Amanda. Emily, Savanah, Lindsey and Cara all have a special way of instructing. A must try.

Used the travelers package during my visits to the in-laws over the past few years and I love this place! Great yoga and fitness classes, a welcoming community, and the two studio locations make scheduling easy! I recommend the IC location if you want to drip sweat and the Coralville location for more space and zen. Thank you for keeping me feeling great during the holidays! โจโจโจ

Such an amazing studio. Iโve been going here for about a year and have absolutely loved it. They have a great variety of classes - I started doing hot yoga for the first time here and found a lot of options for more beginner options. Classes can get a little full sometimes, but never to the point that I feel cramped or like I canโt do the poses. Would highly recommend.

I really like the instructors and vibe of the studio but I think the amount of people allowed into classes is insane. Half of the time the class is so full you canโt even move through poses correctly and some instructors donโt modify the practice to accommodate this.
I have been to other studios that manage spacing way better by doing things like staggering mats, but practicing yoga with my mat touching my neighbor and constantly bumping into people makes the practice more stressful than anxiety-relieving. Feels like a cash grab to make classes that full.

Love this place. The owner, Cara-- does a nice job. She is so knowledgeable about yoga but I love that she appreciates and incorporates other styles of fitness in her studio-- like strength, dance, and yin. The warm class environment is amazing. Small studio but it feels like home. They are able to get some big names for workshops to Iowa City which is fun.

I went searching for restorative yin yoga. Katie is an incredibly gifted teacher whose gentle approach is very soothing; Kate G is also a gifted and creative teacher who brings skillful use of sound and voice to this very healing modality. Am so grateful for Hothouse yoga!

Full disclosure: I only went once. Was in IC for the day on a work trip. But I've been to so many studios over 10+ years of practicing yoga, and what a great studio. I went to a vinyasa class taught by Greyson and the class was challenging but encouraging, the playlist was fun and surprising, and I left feeling amazing.

Simply one of the best hot yoga experience I've ever had. I think it's the vibe of the room and the sense of community. I already felt like I belong, even when it was my first time at this studio. Everyone was kind and friendly to me, a new face. Maureen was so candid, engaging and fun to learn from. She took the effort to look out for me during class and provided guidance and gentle corrections along the way. Highly recommend any tourist or local to try out this amazing place. And yes, it's hot and everyone was sweating puddles. Great workout and detox for the body, mind and soul.

Great variety of classes and instructors. Felt welcome as a beginner and the mood of the place is super calming. My lower rating is specifically due to the size of the place, pricing, and no free parking. The Iowa City location is smaller compared to the Coralville one, and I didnโt like that as it can get cramped when the class is full. A bit pricey considering there is no free parking for the Iowa City location. Also, I didnโt like the fact that the monthly unlimited option requires a 4-month minimum commitment, and that the 10-class pass is more expensive compared to the unlimited class option. Seems like itโs set-up this way to attract a certain class of people.
Editing my review in reply to the owner: Really appreciate the time you took to reply to my review. I removed my remark about the later class times, and I apologize for the mistake as I confused my review for the Coralville location schedule with the Iowa City location schedule. In my Coralville review, I mentioned that I liked the class times at the Iowa City location more, but preferred the Coralville location studio set-up and convenience of parking.
Regarding parking, Iโm aware of the parking option across the street that is cheaper than meter parking. However, considering classes are at least an hour and having to be in the studio before the doors are locked, parking will always be above an hour and that is an additional cost that is considered by many customers.
My comment about the monthly unlimited pass was about it having to be a 4-month minimum commitment. I personally think youโd get more buy in if it was an unlimited monthly pass that does not require a commitment of a certain length. Lastly, while the 10-class pass may benefit those traveling from out of town, it could also benefit those who only want to commit to two classes a week if it was cheaper then the unlimited monthly pass option.

I recently relocated to Iowa City, and I instantly fell in love with this studio. The teachers are great, and the classes are challenging. They seem to offer a variety of class styles, and while I prefer the classes that are geared towards the Bikram style, I am excited to try the Yin and strength/sculpt classes too. Iโve taken three classes in the studio so far, and Iโve taken three classes outside at Van Allen Hall on Sunday mornings. Evan, Maureen, and Darcy were all awesome teachers, and Iโm sure the others are also amazing! Thank you for welcoming me to the studio this summer!

Katie is a great yoga instructor she goes deeper into the meaning of yoga and sounds and really breaks it down. I have had traditional yoga and I do enjoy it, but this is next level! This experience at Hot House yoga has been life changing! Thank you

I attended my first ever "Yin Healing Music" class with Katie G. Saturday afternoon. She was just fantastic! Really gifted. I would have never imagined I could be lulled into such a state of total relaxation in my favorite HHY studio. It was crowded, but not overly so. I was in the last row with two men and one man in front of me. Katie's slow and steady ritual led everyone into a wonderful relaxing sedated state. And then the men started snoring. I was startled awake 5 -6 times during the last 20 minutes by their consecutive horribly loud snoring. . . As I told my husband later: I can have this opportunity any night at home for free. Might it be possible to hand out some "Breath Right" strips for folks at future classes? Just wondering.

I have been in teacher training 2020 since October. Today I took my first class, at the Iowa City location with the amazing Maureen. I have to conclude, it was my favorite practice yet. Such an amazing release and great studio. The coziness of it makes me feel safe, and welcomed. The classmates were welcoming and engaging after class. If you haven't been, check them out!.

I can guarantee this is one of the best studios in the Midwest (maybe the country but I havenโt been to many). Instructors have varied levels of experience however, every session Iโve been to has helped me both physically and mentally. Donโt live in IC anymore but I anyways make it a priority to come to HHY every time I come to town.

I used to be a wrestler, football player, typical gym rat guy. My years playing sports resulted in a spinal injury. I tried many forms of treatment and therapy with little relief.
I used to talk down on yoga, a requirement as a football player haha. One day when I was having a lot of back pain, I finally went to Hot House with my girlfriend after months of her convincing and I've gone everyday since! I was humbled at how hard the routines were; I could hardly do half of it. Each time I leave the studio, my clothes look fresh out of the rinse cycle.
Many of the staff are very knowledgeable on biomechanics and anatomy. They are very welcoming and genuine, and all have their very own styles of teaching. Keep up the good work.

Positive, professional, and nice staff. Great place to start as a beginner. I would definitely recommend this yoga studio to friends. They have an awesome promotion, unlimited classes for 49$ Straight for new students. Only down fall is that classes are a bit expensive for non students.

Unfortunately, my review will be fairly in line with the other two reviews however, my key takeaway is that this business needs some serious ventillation work. I've sampled several hot pilates and yoga joints and never have I experienced one that was so humid and mildew-y rather than dry and hot. I would call Humid Yoga and not Hot Yoga. The towels we rented also smelled of mildew. I'm curious if they have a dehumidifier in use and mold issues? : /
The location is fantastic - right around the corner from the Pedestrian Mall and their intro pack of an unlimited month for $49 is really reasonable. I enjoyed our pilates instructor's methods but in all honesty my focus was on the smell and vibe of the room . I also felt that as a new student they weren't super welcoming and didn't offer much direction.
