Planet Fitness is perfect for my needs! The hours are convenient, the facility is clean and there’s nearly never a wait for a cardio machine or weight machine. I love the spa as well for black card members, I use the red light therapy, the tanning and hydromassage regularly! Added bonus, the price is right!

I only go once a week but it gives me time with my son and doesn't crank the music too loud so that we can communicate and have a healthy activity together. I haven't had time to explore all the benefits but I do plan on checking out the massage lounges and red light therapy.

Called and asked if I could pay for a whole year ahead of time. I’m not comfortable giving out my financial information and letting people store it. The person who answered the phone, Elizabeth was very helpful and very nice. Unfortunately won’t be joining because of the aforementioned issue.

Edit: Your response doesn’t answer the question why I can’t just pay for a year and then decide if I want to re-join after that. I’m perfectly happy to pay for the 12 months and if I decide not to continue to let you keep the reminder of the money. In this day and age, you would think that a company would understand not wanting to give out their personal bank information. Especially when they’re offering to pay a year in advance.

Small, cheap gym. It has enough to get by, but you have to get creative sometimes. Always feels crowded simply bc of the size of the gym. It’s mostly cardio equipment, so if you’re still stuck in the 90’s/early 2000’s idea that only cardio is best- then this is probably the place for you. There aren’t any squat racks. They recently got a hip thruster machine, but it doesn’t allow for full range of motion, so it’s kind of pointless to use. Only 1 clock in the whole gym and it’s hidden behind TV’s. There’s no full-length mirrors, so don’t plan on taking any selfies or progress pics here. It is open 24-hours, however, which can be a plus. The staff are friendly. The gym is clean. Another pro is that there’s a red light therapy booth, if you purchase the $25/month membership plan.

I live in Vegas and here for work. I walked into this gym and instantly felt like I was back home. Elizabeth is phenomenal. Her knowledge and customer service is what stands out most.
The black card membership offers so many perks. You get tanning, massage chairs, hydro massage, total body enhancement (red light therapy), you can bring a guest every time you come in, App workouts and 50% off select drinks!
There is ample parking and the gym is always clean! I highly recommend.

The treadmills in Ankeny are a bit more "hi-tech" than the ones in Ames. They have Bluetooth capability. However, the the 30 min. workout space in Ankeny had some different equipment that I didn't care for, like a leg curl machine that you had to lay down on face first, the area was a bit of a mess and there was one piece of equipment that was out of order.

This gym is fine, and it is really only getting a 3 star rating due to the lack of an appropriate water fountain. Definitely frustrating having to use a basic water fountain to fill up any water bottle because of the impossible angle and lack of pressure. Every planet fitness I’ve been in has at least 1 water bottle filler attached to the water fountain. Seems like a feasible solution.

It is a good place to work out and is cheap — even with a black card membership. However, the kids that just sit on the floor and play on their phone are annoying and are ALWAYS in the way. Is this a daycare or a gym? I also wish that it was 24 hours on Fridays.

Exactly what I have needed! I love the hours of operation making it easy to workout whenever I get a chance. The price is great, the staff have always been friendly to me (welcome me and say bye EVERY time), and broken or worn equipment gets repaired in reasonably timely fashion. They are constantly cleaning the floors, bathrooms. The extra $5 to have a friend come free and my ability to use the massage machines is totally worth it. The culture is great too, just a ton of people trying to be healthy. Frankly, if you’re in the gym sweating, you’re winning!

Having lots of issues with my account! Local staff can't help me, so the only way to reach corporate is through a form.

This location feels (and probably is) smaller than the other ones. It seems to have all of the equipment as the others. The staff are kind and seen to be appreciative of their members.

My only complaint is the 30 minutes without room. This area is designated for the quick workout circuit. Every time I am there someone is sitting on a machine taking their sweet time, usually on their phone. I tried using the room as intended once and quite honestly had to give up because someone was doing their own thing. Maybe I need to ask staff how to approach this situation? Maybe the 30 minute workouts are only during certain times? I can't tell.
