From the 2 or 3 times (acct can be varified by gym) we used it in a year, the gym is great! However, we paid monthly dues, and they got free money. I canceled on the first because we are moving and forgot we even had it and still had yearly dues removed after canceling. So, after canceling I still have to pay for a year? You got over $1000 free last year. We can use the money from the yearly that we won't be in to make worth while, for our move. Thats sketcky. I think, if someone doesn't check in for 4 months, shoot em an email, remind em. I feel stealing money is bad customer service! Will not return. Bad taste!

I’ve been coming to this location since I was in high school. I love it here it’s convenient to come to every morning. The only other problem I’ve had other than what I saw today was a man recording me and being a creep a few months ago which staff handled properly. What I saw today and especially TODAY had my stomach in knots. Two black employees scraping gum off the side of the sidewalk while the two Caucasian employees (or maybe higher up employees I should assume) were inside at the desk. Now I know for a fact no one gets paid there to do that job or even so paid enough to do that job. I talked to the African American employees like I do everyday (have never had conversation with the Caucasian employees) and told them this doesn’t look right and it made me uncomfortable and they felt the same way. So I want to say that I hope this review reaches someone’s eyes who cares and who will do something differently next time I will be informing that I left this review as well. Do better we’re on the southside of Des Moines were there’s plenty of multicultural community to speak for eachother.

I’ve been a member at Planet Fitness for a while, and while I appreciated the gym itself, I had a disappointing experience recently. I accidentally left my engagement ring in the gym, and when I contacted them the next day, they said it wasn’t found. I’ve lost personal items here before and was able to recover them, but this time it didn’t happen.

It’s frustrating because this ring holds deep sentimental value, and I hoped there would be more effort to help track it down. After this incident, I decided to cancel my membership.

I’m sharing this to remind others to be extra cautious with their valuables, and I hope Planet Fitness can improve their lost and found process moving forward.

How can I contact the manager? I would love to send them a picture of my ring just in case they find it in the future.

Updating my review. Lately the employee in the morning is no where to be found so when I need to use the red light or massage bed that I pay extra for, I have to stand around wasting my limited time or completely skip out. But I'll say this. I dont care if you're "working on your posing" cameras do not belong in the changing area. I called a guy out today. Full tripod/stand whatever. Middle of the mirror. Stop it. Nobody wants to be in the background of your photo or video. If you wanna end up in legal trouble or on a Joey Swoll video being laughed at, keep it up.

I’m a truck driver so parking is always the first concern, I parked in the back out of the way and there are no overnight parking signs but I never really know what that means. Don’t leave your vehicle alone overnight? What if I’m leaving in the middle of the night? Anyways the locker room was disgusting. No shelves in the showers, other locations without a shelf at least have a thing hanging from shower head. Where do I put my soap, I’m honestly curious? Equipment was fine and it was really busy when I was there so hopefully it’s not normally like this. Please don’t tell me to talk to the front desk, we come here to say what’s wrong, take the info and fix what you want.

My account was closed for what they called a policy violation for my Guest refusing to take a picture lol she signed in and all but because of a picture my account was closed lol in they think they'll still be receiving a payment for the month … I don’t think so! As someone with a black card membership if I’m able to bring one other guest why should they have to not only make an account “sign in” but also take a picture - what a joke! Did me a favor honestly. I’m not sorry but employees here aren’t making enough to be reporting someone over a guests picture … what power trip lol- mind you they already have my picture thats weird behavior, also I’ve been coming for however long with other guest and this employee has been the only one trying to in-force a picture … 0/5 recommend.

Sad, I think I’m going to cancel my membership. The manager James Lane is a piece of work. I go early mornings on the week days, and the locker rooms, and the entire gym is deplorable. It’s so strange, when I go at 7 AM on the weekends it looks pretty normal to good. There is usually multiple employees on the week days, and it’s filthy, but when there is one employee on the weekends it looks ok. Both mornings and afternoons. Anytime you go the showers are cold 50% of the time. Both ladies and men’s locker room according to my girlfriend have cold showers. Machines break I get that, but they have some machines that have been broken for 6 months or more. I remember when the water fountain was out for nearly two months and there was no way to get water. Needs new management. Crunch here we come.

Great place. I used to weigh close to 400 pounds. I did most of the slimming down on my own at home because I was scared of being judged. I weigh 270 now and wish I would have joined sooner. They have great equipment that I didn’t have access to on my own. There’s no judgment and everyone keeps to themselves. The staff are super friendly and helpful.

I have been very impressed with the manager- he speaks bilingual - I know Spanish & English for sure, and is always professional. Today there was what I would say a lady with anger issues & overall very rude slamming weights & even bars with no weights around. He stayed calm & handled the situation well. Previously, he also helped me with my billing when it didn’t go through right & I got an additional charge. I can tell he takes pride in his job & making the gym a safe & welcoming place.

On cleanliness: every time I’m in there I see someone cleaning the bathroom or filling spray bottles.

Went in person to cancel 6 months ago and this took 30 minutes to complete and they have continued to charge my account. Called and the “manager” said that they didn’t have and documentation so they couldn’t refund me for the numerous months I have been charged. Guy on the phone who said he was the manager claims that since there is no documentation he won’t be refunding me. Asked to speak to someone higher than him and apparently there is no one above this manager. Asked if they had an owner and he said yes but no contact information.

I just signed up for planet fitness less than a week ago and this is the only dirty location that I have been to. Who ever is working is either not doing their job or they are lacking personnel. No toilet paper in the ADA compliant toilet as well as someone’s facial hair shavings in the sink (not necessarily the gyms fault but still lol), and soap dispenser fallen off the wall. Nice tread mills and open floor plan. Lots of semi truck parking in the back for my fellow truck drivers. Overall: not a bad location, GREAT location for TRUCKERS, it just needs a bit more attention to details. 👍🏼

I usually enjoy this gym; I’m able to go in, do what I need, and get out in a quick enough time. But this morning I arrived at 5:30am, on a Monday, and the doors were still locked when they’re supposed to be open at 5am. There’s no sign in the door communicating why it’s closed, but there’s a lot of people waiting in the parking lot with no answers.
