Truck driver friendly. Showers so small you can hardly bend to wash your lower body but at least the pressure was good and so was temperature which is for some reason rare, water fountain cold, all equipment up to par. I’d come back

I like the affordablity of this gym, along with all the machines. I did manage to get a nice workout in. Did not like the music blaring in the morning. Would rather have quite time in the morning and be able to listen to what I want through my headphones but that is my opinion.

I got kicked out because I asked them to vacuum the dust along the machines and the wall where I was working out at and some tissue in the toilet and to put some good clean shower curtains up, that didn't have mode on them They told me.I made them feel uncomfortable and they didn't feel safe.And they kicked me out because I asked them to ask themselves would they want to be on the floor with all this dirt It's not like they have enough workout maths for everybody.

I would like to give it a negative 10. NEVER get a membership from here. They make it impossible to cancel. I've been trying for the past couple years to cancel and they say I have to do it in person or certified letter, neither I can do without a car anymore. DON'T GET A MEMBERSHIP. Impossible to leave, so I pay about $25 every month.

At least once a month for sure, the gym will open late on the weekends. It's really annoying as a mother with limited workout time that this happens. Also, trying to get ahold of someone to see when they will open is impossible.... I really hope they fix this problem!!

Best planet fitness in Iowa city. Equipment is well maintained and the staff is always present and smiling. Great atmosphere unlike some locations that feel dark and unwelcoming. Could use a few pieces of new equipment on a select few but overall a great place to blow off some steam or achieve your fitness goals!

Love this place. Staff is always very friendly and patient with answering questions. I would really like to know the reasoning behind removing the whiteboard with the daily riddle, joke, or survey. Being mentally fit is equally as important as being physically fit. If the whiteboard is too unprofessional, install a flat screen.

Super friendly staff, and very nice fellow gym goer's. The facility is clean, and well maintained. This desserves a 5 star rating however the machines were very stiff. We all know that weights are different, and weigh differently from gym to gym. A big factor in this is lubrication. The machines were very very rough. I can easily low row 245 at most gym, yet today the low row machine felt very stiff and I was only able to do 95 lbs 🙁. I later went to top shape and easily pulled 245. This gym is almost perfect however for further use I recommend they lubricate the equipment.

I have been taking ice cold showers here for 4 weeks or 5? Honestly, it's too many that I've lost count..
Was told by a staff member that the manager doesn't care to get this fixed ASAP. Then why put up the sign??
I dont think the owner realizes the lack of upkeep this facility has. Was told by another team member that in order to get machines fixed they were trained to overwhelm the technicians with maintenance request in order to get them to this location. Because of this, machines take at a minimum of a month to be fixed.
You definitely are getting what you pay for here, not worth more than $10/month.

The amount of maintenance done to facilities and upkeep on equipment in this building is very minimal. Something as easy as replacing a metal clip to a cabel will take 2 weeks. Currently out of 12 cabels there are 2 missing clips and 2 out of service, has been this way for weeks. Multiple taped up benchs/equipment, hot water not working for over a week, water fountain broken for multiple weeks.
Can't beat the price, but get what you pay for here.

I am altering my review due to the fact that this location has had no hot water available for about a week at this point. Every time I ask a staff member when I can expect it to be working again I get the answer “in a couple of days” or “I don’t know.”. This is a problem because I can only use the gym if I can take a shower afterwards because I work out directly before I go to work. I feel like I’m throwing my money away on a gym that is too cheap to take care of important things like hot water. Please show me that I’m wrong and get it fixed.

There are a tremendous amount of people then none at other times few. Some of the people there where messing with workouts and staff did nothing. I travel across the country for a living, and I stop in Planet Fitness in every city I visit. This was a very good gym to stop in. Not wait on any equipment and the staff were great. My only complaint is that they didn't have the city name on the wall like most of the other locations. That's silly, but I take a pic at each location with a goal to visit 500 this year, and this location unfortunately won't join the collection of pictures that I have.

Claire was my rep over the phone and she explained in great detail the facilities, and the memberships available before I made the trip in. Once there, the staff walked me through the facility in a friendly manner. Tons of nice equipment and their website even lists the busiest times of the day to workout. I highly recommend the Sycamore location in Iowa city, and any Planet Fitness if they are all the prompt and friendly.
