This is a really nice YMCA. My son and I got the weights upstairs while the wife hits the pool for a class. Lots of free weights, machines, bikes, elipticals, treadmills, etc. They have a steam room and a sauna as well as a hot pool. Plenty of parking. It's kind of busy in the evenings after 4 but one would expect that.

Absolutely LOVE Bittner Y! I frequent this location even though I live closer to Bettendorf loc. The track at Bittner is better and Mark Barnes Latin/Hip Hop class is AMAZING! Unfortunately, for the last week, the a/c seems to not be working in the mezzanine room where class is held. Today, we needed to prop the doors open today as there was no air movement. Josh/COO walked by and closed them. I left class and told him it was brutally hot in that room. His response is not what I expected and his customer service skills are lacking. I recently retired from an almost 20 year sales career. If I spoke to customers the way Josh did, Iβd lose business and/or my job. Josh abruptly responded to me that the doors needed to be closed since they couldnβt hear the phone at the front desk due to the music being played in class. I reminded him that itβs been 1 week since the a/c hasnβt been working. He replied βweβre working on it!β How about maybe calling Schebler, Gabrilson, or TMI to come out and repair? Iβve been a member of the Y off & on for many years.

I added the babysitter to the membership this past weekend so the kids can go swimming at Bittner on Tues & Thurs as the schedule online showed Member Open Swim all day on these 2 days. Kids are SO excited to get to go for their 1st YMCA VISIT today, and walked almost a mile to get there. - Kids got in the pool for a total of 15 minutes before getting kicked out due to a Camp mix up??? Apparently a camp showed up to the wrong location on the wrong day, and because of this error, my kids got booted and had to walk a mile home for only 15 minutes of pool time. The camp kids were the same age group as my kids, and they were also not allowed to go to the hot tub. Why wasn't this handled in a better way?
Waiting for a phone call to explain to me how on earth their mix up is my kid's problem. Why on earth a Camp trumps my Member access. I have left 3 voicemails and will update when I hear back.

Yesterday 27 may I went to the west end YMCA in Davenport and it was a bad experience with the guy I think his name Steve. I went to another location today and I tell you I was ignored and people came in after me and was seen and when I finally got someone attention they would stop seeing to me to take care of others.

For context of my review, traveling on business and was seeking an alternative to hotel gyms.
In terms of YMCAs, the footprint and space is both massive and modern. In trying to serve the community, the offerings and choice of equipment is impressive.
Itβs fairly busy with some waiting times that can occur. Also, the number of activities occurring concurrently presents a very busy space.
For cost, itβs $14 for a day trip. Keep in mind that to secure your personal items, a combination lock is required.
Overall, I think itβs a good space and would consider coming back. For my preference, itβs probably a bit more clustered around social groups and pairs than I would prefer. While not as gym focused, itβs also to be expected given its overall mission.

The Bittner Center is a beautiful facility, with great views of river drive towards the east village, the same views towards the Arsenal Dam, hard-working and friendly staff, state of the art machines, and friendly feel. I find myself here more than the other two YMCA facilities.
Though whoever decided to put the weight machines up three flights of stairs, after leg day is an evil person.

This is the nicest Y I've ever been to! I'm a visiting member from Des Moines. The staff here is great! They've been so very helpful. There appears to be childcare here as well, though I'm not sure what those hours are.
I love that each floor has something different to offer. The pool is on the ground floor. The cardio machines, spin studio, basketball court, and e-gym are on the second floor along with some weight machines. The track and free weights and more machines are on the third floor along a terrace overlooking the Mississippi River. The machines and other equipment are super modern unlike other locations. I also like that some of them keep count for you. Very cool that they use washable towels here to wipe everything down instead of paper towels.
Most notable to me is the e-gym. You're set up with a trainer who will assess your goals. You get a fob to connect to the machines which will prepare the machine at the weight and reps that your trainer has set for you. I've spoken to several members that use the e-gym and they all agree that it's made a huge difference.
Honestly, this is my favorite Y, by far!

My in laws live in Davenport and often speak of their weeks in relation to the things they do at their local Y. From the way they spoke of how welcoming and down to earth all their experiences are, I assumed it must be a quaint facility. I was wrong.
High class facility with superior customer service resonates from the moment you open the door. For example, during an Oct. visit I met Rita, the water aerobics instructor. The class was so well executed, professional, and welcoming that I planned my return trip around being able to enjoy the M-W-F class. The equipment is up to date and well kept with a wide selection. Iβve been to gyms around the world and the dedication to health and fitness here rivaled the best of them.

2 stars because originally I loved coming to this gym. Unfortunately there was a simple payment error (their mistake) and I was told I have to pay copious amounts of money for it to be fixed and thereβs no ultimatum (this is all by some front desk kid). Tried to contact management to further discuss these issues with Cindy(?) and have had zero returned phone calls, no answer, nothing. Therefore losing the membership which I greatly enjoyed!

My grandson said something derogatory to someone else last year and was kicked out of daycare program.. canβt go this year either,, how ridiculous!! Heβs 10 year old boy (9 last year). You want change but only if it benefits them.. they said it was ok for him to go then a week before school ends they told my daughter no.. he knows he did wrong but you still hold it against him. She was paying full tuition also.. and a member of the y.. donβt send your kids there for summer camp unless you meet their criteria!! If I could give no star I would.. now daughter has to find others means

Chlorine levels have been low early mornings for family pool and hot tub. Maintenance doesnβt come in till 7:00AM. Why maintenance isnβt checking levels before they leave at their end of shift would probably help. There is a dozen people sometimes more who depend on early mornings for their therapy to maintain health. Pool and hot tub decks, locker rooms need better cleaning.

My wife and I were visiting the Quad Cities for the weekend and went to this location for a quick workout. The staff was friendly and honored our membership from our local Y. I was pleased that this process was quick and easy.
The facility had everything you could want. There were several floors worth of great equipment, machines, free weights, etc.
The sauna in the men's locker room was out of order, but the steam room was open, so I took advantage of that instead. I was happy to try that out as my local Y doesn't have one.
Overall, it's a very impressive facility!

We have been working out at this gym for 2 years. Throughout my gfs pregnancy as well as when our daughter was just born. We would park her safely right next to us as we worked out. She never cried or bothered anyone. Today we were told by the fitness director Laura as she was working out, that we were not allowed to have our baby with us in the workout area. She continued to say that it's a new rule they just implented in November. We will be canceling our membership due to this new rule change. We chose to work out at the YMCA vs other gyms because it's supposed to be family oriented as it bills itself as a "non-profit". This is one of the least family friendly rules you could possibly implement, especially for parents who live an active lifestyle with their newborns.

I took my kids swimming here today. It was a terrible experience. From the locker room full of unsupervised children urinating on the floors and screaming profanity and racial slurs at each other to the distracted lifeguards holding conversations with people in the pool, the whole experience felt stressful and less than safe. I couldn't believe the sort of behavior the indifferent staff were witnessing without staying a word.
It definitely is not a good place to take young kids swimming.

Got up early on a Sunday morning to take advantage of the pool for continue rehab of a muscle and joint injury. Imagine my surprise when I arrived right on time to find the pool closed. Why? Because an employee couldnβt be bothered to also get up early AND COME TO WORK. The guy behind the counter really could not have cared less. Pretty much a polite shoulder shrugger. They donβt have any one else in the building that is certified? Shrug. Any idea when someone will be here? Shrug.
Ridiculous way to run a large business that charges the fees they do.
Edited to add: showed up at 5:30 am (5/26) to find they cannot manage the pool maintenance. The family pool was closed due to a lack of chlorine. Of course, the desk employee was βsorryβ. That must be a huge topic in their employee orientationβ¦how to tell paying members that youβre sorry facilities are closed due to a lack of proper maintenance.

A great building but a disappointing place to work out.
The people in the weight room are mostly casual weight-lifters, which is fine. But with that brings a lot of people who don't understand weight room etiquette. They don't put weights away when they are done with a machine or bench. And that makes it virtually impossible to tell who is on a particular machine on any given moment.
You'll spot an empty machine, thinking it's not being used, and then five minutes later you'll be tapped a shoulder by somebody saying "Hey, I was using that". It's ridiculous.
And for some unknown reason, the staff let extremely young children into the weightroom, causing havoc, bouncing their basketballs all up and down the weight room. And I would hope I wouldn't have to explain why that's a problem. They could get hurt. The weight-lifters could knocked by a runaway ball and get hurt.
I'm canceling my membership as soon as the month up. Can't do it anymore.

The mean woman by the pool wouldn't let me swim! Whenever I would try to get inside the water she would wag her finger at me and say "I don't think so, grandpa" and it was especially embarrassing because the children inside the pool would point and laugh every time she did it and they also called me a smelly old man!
