Dropped in for a class while in Des Moines on business. The coach, Kaylee was very knowledgeable and super friendly. I enjoyed the experience so much I came back the next day and then ended up buying a pack of 10 classes. Looking forward to coming back next week when I'll be back in Des Moines for a few days. I would highly recommend Raccoon River CrossFit. Great workouts, good people, and a strong sense of community.

Raccoon River CrossFit is a great place to workout. As someone who is new to CrossFit - starting in the mid-stage of life (thank you to those who did birthday burpees) - I have felt very welcomed. I dropped into this CrossFit gym while visiting the area, and it was a fantastic experience! Kaylee (the coach) was so friendly, professional, and made sure I felt comfortable and supported from the moment I walked in. I’ve dropped into a lot of CrossFit gyms and RRCF is absolutely top tier! The community is welcoming and fun. The coaches are super kind and supportive. The workouts are challenging but the coaches are great at offering scaling options or alternatives if you’re working through an injury. I will definitely be stopping by again and if you live in the area I’d absolutely recommend joining this gym!

First and foremost shout out to the owner/coach Kaylee for making me feel like home away from home. If you’re looking to drop in, start a new fitness journey, or even have an ounce of curiosity on CrossFit…this is the place to start. Dropped in for a class and ended up dropping in for the whole month during my traveling. Not only did I leave fitter, but even left with friendships. Great coaches? Check. Great community? Fantastic CrossFit gym! I highly recommend! Coach Kaylee ran a great class, and provided excellent guidance through the warm-up and workout. The gym was very clean, and they have an awesome logo. I’ve known Kaylee for about 3 years and she’s been one of the best coaches. Coming into CrossFit can be intimidating and scary and she’s made the experience so much fun. She pushes you to try new things and always keeps everything upbeat. The gym vibe is great, loud good music, and sometimes seeing the owners two dogs after a workout is always a plus. Couldn’t recommend this place more to someone wanting to drop in!

There are not enough positive words to describe RRC and the individuals I have met in my short time training there. Kaylee as both an owner and a coach is one of the most understanding, knowledgeable, and devoted person I have ever met. She is able to balance both pushing members while also develop everyone at their own pace. The members are a reflection of what both Kaylee and Cody envisioned for not just gym, but a community. I found exactly what I was looking for with Racoon River CrossFit. Kaylee and Cody are so welcoming, I’ve only been going to class for a few weeks and feel like I’ve known them for years. I dropped into Racoon River CrossFit during their freebie week and left with a membership! The owner coached my class; she was down to earth, approachable, and had a great sense of humor!
I recently had a baby and was struggling to find somewhere to help me get back in shape. Kaylee helped me scale the weights and exercises to things my postpartum body could handle. There was also another new Mom in class, which helped me feel more comfortable.
CrossFit gyms may seem intimidating, but this gym made me feel welcome. The members worked out hard, and did with smiles on their faces, and words of encouragement. Who knows, I may even get abs from all the laughing I did!

Our first class at Raccoon River CrossFit was on Thanksgiving and the class was packed! Cool to see how quickly people are taking to this gym, and it’s easy to see why. Kaylee and Cody are very knowledgeable owner/trainers who make you feel confident in form and the foundations of a CrossFit workout and do so in a very enjoyable way. As a competitive couple of worker-outers, we feel like the gym is going to push us to a level of reaching our fitness goals quickly. It has become evident when the edge for competition meets a detriment to form, we will be directed towards the safe way of completing exercise. Sustained lifelong fitness is obviously the goal. We are very excited to dive into working out with Raccoon River CrossFit!

I used to just do static lifting and that was great but it didn’t help with my overall health and mobility. What a clean and professional gym space! I’ve worked with Coach Kaylee for three years and she’s top-notch. She will break down each element or movement ensuring you’re comfortable with doing the workout. She’s quick to come up with any modifications for physical needs too and helped me a lot through my 4th pregnancy. She will find movements that are safe but can still target the same muscle groups. Every gym can offer the same equipment and facilities but what keeps me at Raccoon River CrossFit are the coaches/owners, Kaylee and Cody. They are genuine and caring people and you can tell they are there to make a positive impact on the people who walk through the doors of their gym.
Secondly, it is the people/community. Everyone I’ve met through the gym have inspired me to to become a better version of myself. The encouragement we all give one another during the workouts is contagious. The community aspect extends outside of the gym with fun social events which allows for great friendships to develop and it becomes much bigger than just workouts.
