I started seeing Marci to help me work with my neuromuscular imbalances and develop strength, mobility and coordination as I was preparing for knee surgery and I am working with her after surgery as part of my rehabilitation plan. Using the reformer with Marci and working with my PT is helping me optimize my recovery. I worked as an integrative physical therapist and am currently a mindbody movement teacher. I appreciate Marci's ability to adapt my plan of care as she integrates her expertise in Pilates, yoga, exercise physiology, and trauma informed care.

I’ve been taking classes at Serenity for about a year now. I have seen a great improvement in my strength, flexibility, posture, and best of all, no more lower back pain. Marcie is a wonderful teacher and creates a welcoming environment in all her classes!

I started aerial yoga at Serenity a few months ago, and I can't believe I didn't start sooner. Its so fun and so good for me in so many ways. Marcie cares about the clients she works with and knows how to support individuals based on their needs and where they are at. I look forward to aerial yoga every week, especially when its been a tough week. I always know I'll feel better after class physically and mentally. Would 100% recommend to literally everyone.

Marcie has been very helpful working with me on a Pilates Reformer. I came in with multiple areas of concern and she has helped me build muscle in these areas. I recently "graduated" from private sessions to group sessions, but she continues to address my individual concerns. She is very knowledgeable about muscle groups and how to prevent injury.

The Reformer Pilates classes are physically challenging but mentally they are so much fun that I don't notice the time passing or how hard I'm working! I sincerely look forward to attending each class and feel tired and satisfied at the end.

I have searched for a teacher like Marcie for a long time: someone who is knowledgeable, supportive, passionate, and deeply invested in a client’s progress. I am currently having one-on-one sessions and it’s the best gift I’ve given myself since retiring; I am 80 years old. In each session she guides my movements, monitors my growth, teaches me about the body’s needs, and suggests exercises I can do at home until our next meeting. She sees me. Her radar is constantly monitoring how I’m doing and she can readily suggest adjustments or other approaches. I need and am thriving under her guidance.
From our first meeting, she has created a welcoming and professional atmosphere in her beautiful studio. Always prepared and cheerful, she gives me frequent transfusions of energy and joy throughout each session. We laugh a lot. Whereas the content of her instruction is top notch ( scan her resume) she’s flexible and altogether avoids the drill- sergeant tone I’ve encountered from other instructors. I’m eager to go to the studio. And even on those days when I’ve been discouraged or frustrated she bouys my spirits and I leave so much more lighthearted and motivated.
I had never done any Pilates before walking into Marcie’s Serenity Studio, nor had I ever felt successful with yoga. She’s teaching me both approaches and my 80 year old body and brain and spirit are feeling the many benefits in ways that are new and exciting and best of all, effective.
Over the years I’ve attended many exercise and yoga classes and found that great teachers are so rare. I feel blessed to have found one of them in Marcie Evans.

Doing Pilates at Serenity Yoga & Pilates Studio has hands down been the best class experience I’ve ever had. As someone who has autoimmune diseases that can make movement painful and working out feel impossible, Marcie took the time to teach me how to work around my mobility limits and show me how to strengthen muscles that help lessen my day to day pain. Her knowledge and care has helped me work out safely and has me looking forward to working out each week instead of stressing about how I would feel after. These classes are the highlight of my week and I cannot begin to say how much better this place has made my life!
The atmosphere and community that Marcie has built here is also a massive part of why I love this place so much. As someone with no family in Iowa, Serenity Yoga and Pilates classes have become my Iowa family. Marcie and all the other members of my class make me feel loved in a community that not only is welcoming but truly treats every member like family. My mother even drives all the way from Chicago on some weekends to go to class with me because she loves Marcie so much!
I never was sure if I would find a way to work out with the limitations of my body, but here at Serenity, I have found not only something that works, but something I love going to each week. If you’re someone who needs to find a kind, accepting, non-judgmental community that supports each other and most importantly is super fun, this is the place for you. I can’t thank Marcie enough for changing my life and my view on working out and I could not recommend anything more strongly. Google only does 5 stars but I would give this place a million stars if I could!

Marcie is a great trainer! By watching you do the moves, she notices where you have muscle weakness or issues and queues you to make adjustments. She also often adds exercises into routines to help improve those weaknesses and get your body more balanced. My core, legs and arms are all stronger; and my back doesn't have the pain it did. I'd recommend her to all ages trying to strengthen at a level appropriate for your current state.

I came to Serenity when I first retired from a job where I had spent a lot of time sitting. I wanted to be able to garden, fly fish and play dog games after retirement. Not only has Serenity helped me to obtain those goals, but I love the classes. I look forward to the classes every week and my knees and hips are better than they were 8 yrs. ago.

Marcie is an expert, no doubt! The workouts leave me feeling energized and strong. Obviously, she addresses your major muscles such as core, legs and arms, but also feet, neck, wrists and even balance. I used to have issues with rolling my ankles and I haven't done that in years. I also had a rotator cuff injury that has improved and no longer concerns me. Doing Pilates at Serenity gives me confidence and sense of well-being that helps me age without anxiety.

I have been taking Aerial Yoga at Serenity for a little over two years now, and I cannot say enough good things about Marcie and the space she has created. Marcie meets her students at the level that we're at and challenges us and encourages us to go further and get stronger. Her expertise and positive energy make for a wonderful experience. Serenity Studio is a relaxing and welcoming environment. I always leave class with a smile on my face. Recently, I went grocery shopping after class and was told by a stranger that I was glowing, and I let them know it was the afterglow of a great yoga class.

Everyone, fit or not-so-fit, should try reformer pilates here at Serenity... or try barre, TRX, yoga or antigravity yoga. There is something here for everyone, and Marcie Evans (owne/ teacher), is the very best. Her expertise in teaching is incredible. She's kind, patient, supportive and understands that each of her clients brings with them different issues & levels of physical ability. I am 72 and can't imagine NOT working out at Serenity Pilates & Yoga. So grateful for this place!

I started going to Serenity almost one year ago and recommend it to anyone I talk with. I am 56 and I attend yoga and Pilates classes 3 times a week. I used to have chronic neck and shoulder pain and I no longer have that. Marcie is an incredible coach - extremely well versed and knows each of her clients so well. She takes everyone from where their personal physical/mental needs are at and helps them progress at their own pace. I can’t say enough positive things about this studio. If you ever want to give yoga or Pilates a try - this is a GREAT place to come!!

I chose Serenity Yoga & Pilates about six months ago because of Marcy's education, expertise and approach. Importantly, I needed support to address an injury that was limiting my flexibility. Marcy modified exercises and offered guidance about how to do additional exercises outside of class. Thanks to her, I am all better!
In addition to being an expert instructor, Marcy works hard to build a sense of community within the studio.
I wish there were more stars available.

This is where you need to be!! If you want movement, strength, balance, flexibility— Marcie is your person and Serenity Studio is the place to help you find a program of exercise that suits your particular needs. The variety of classes she teaches (yoga, TRX, barre, pliates on reformer, and other formats, aerial yoga, plus a variety of pop up classes including massage and cardio classes) is amazing. She teaches in a lovely studio so it’s not a gym atmosphere—and classes are smaller than gym classes so you are sure to get personalized attention. Plus, it’s fun!! And you meet all kinds of cool people.
You can also book private lessons to ensure your form is always correct, or to learn technique, and be sure you’re doing what YOUR body needs. Or maybe private lessons just suit your schedule better. (Although there are classes at a wide range of times, and even on Saturday.)
As one with specific physical challenges and one who never thought I’d be strong enough to do things like TRX, I am finding strength, balance, movement capabilities that I never thought I would achieve. It’s a whole new world of possibilities, and I thank Marcie for her dedicated instruction. Marcie is also continually pursuing new trainings, and is able to help people with various neurological and autoimmune conditions—people with limited range of motion—no matter what your current level of fitness is, Marcie will make sure you make progress. Don’t miss out on this unique Iowa City experience! 5 stars all the way around. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I can't say enough good things about my experience at Serenity! I've been doing Pilates Reformer here once or twice a week for about 7 years. I'm 72, and what was osteoporosis is now osteopenia. Marcie adjusts movements to suit each individual, and she makes the sessions fun!

I started Serenity in January 2023. Before starting Serenity, I was attending barre classes in the QC area.
The difference in my Serenity workouts is that I'm actually seeing results, both in improvements in my core strength, and body shape. To say that I'm shocked would be an understatement! I am currently attending about three classes a week -- a mix of reformer and barre.
Taking the first step of starting any exercise routine is the hardest. If you're looking to begin an exercise regime, give Serenity a call - what do you have to lose!

Marcie and her staff are total gems in our community. She has helped me heal and recover my strength from two pregnancies in addition to taking care of many clients I have sent her way. Their knowledge of how the body works is way beyond any other place in town and their commitment to over all health is excellent. Wether you are looking to improve your fitness level, train for something specific or healing an injury this is the the place!!

I love going to Serenity. I have been a regular client for 4 years. Marcie's expertise in injury and exercise has been the best solution for me. Before Serenity I had a reoccurring pattern of exercising and getting hurt then being off exercise to recover only to start the cycle again. Marcie understands the human body but more importantly she understands MY human body. She can individualize my workouts based on how I feel each session and she has accurately described my needs to all the staff. I am reassured everyone in the studio is aware of my body's needs.
I also do classes at the studio. Mat pilates with Mary has proved to be very effective for core strength. Gentle yoga with John is a very calm wind down from a busy day and a great "date night" activity for couples.
I recommend this studio to all of my friends that want to avoid unnecessary injuries, develop strength.
In addition to workouts that strengthen and protect each client there is a sense of community and belonging every time I enter the studio.

A very serene, relaxing, and safe environment to practice, get fit, and just be. I absolutely love your studio. Also, very accommodating to private and group sessions. My mom and I enjoyed a one hour special bonding session. Afterwards, we felt more relaxed than being at a spa for the day! My mom said she hasn't felt that good in years.

I've worked out at Serenity for almost seven years needing to rehab a problem hip and have worked with both Marcie and Mary. They are not only very professional and accomplished, they know more about anatomy, physiology and how the body moves, than many physical therapists or chiropractics I have seen over the years. In addition to developing peoples' core strength, the workouts can be tailored to suit specific ailments no matter what your age or condition. I've found this place to be a blessing and give it the highest recommendations.
