Been going here since it opened. Had some minor issues with cleanliness in the locker room which is kinda expected, but other than that, I've thoroughly enjoyed my membership and time here. Wonderful staff, attentive and supportive peers, and a wide enough array of machines/equipment that alternatives are available when something inevitably breaks.

I’m honestly really disappointed in the cancellation policies and overall business practices of this company. And while I know this probably applies to the whole franchise model, I’ll stick to my personal experience here — though I can’t help but assume the rest operate the same way. In short, it’s a huge money pit built on deceptive tactics that feel almost predatory.

The first red flag for me was the sales process. It’s not just pushy, it’s manipulative. The staff use this fake friendliness, offering “small favors” like, “I’ll make X free if you just pay $10 for a body scan.” But the “body scan” turns out to be nothing more than a sales pitch disguised as a health check. They try to funnel you into buying a discounted trainer package, and it feels grossly misleading.

Then there’s the body scan itself, which honestly feels designed to make people feel bad about themselves. When I did mine, it claimed I was twenty pounds heavier than what I weighed at home later that same day. That’s not a coincidence. It feels engineered to make you insecure, like you suddenly need to “fix” yourself — conveniently through their paid programs.

The whole thing is a psychological setup. From the moment you walk in, the presentation is structured to make you feel like a loser if you don’t buy in. It’s not about fitness; it’s about guilt and manipulation.

And then comes the cancellation nightmare. When I signed up, I assumed — as per FTC law — that any service you can join online should also be easy to cancel online. Their website even makes it sound simple, like you can “cancel anytime.” Spoiler: you can’t. I tried to cancel online and got told someone would call me. No one ever did. When I called myself, I was told I had to write a handwritten letter or come in person. Of course, going in person just opens the door for more pressure and guilt-tripping to keep you from canceling. I will do it.

Disclaimer: The FTC actually tried to pass a rule requiring all companies to make online cancellations as easy as sign-ups — a simple “click to cancel” system. But that law was blocked and delayed, presumably by businesses like this one, especially gyms, who profit from keeping people trapped in memberships they can’t easily end. It’s a rat trap designed to look like a convenience.

At this point, I just feel scammed. It’s not even about the money anymore — it’s the principle. The dishonesty, the manipulation, the lack of integrity. I went in wanting a gym membership and left feeling tricked, and frustrated.

So yeah, my exit review: Crunch Fitness sucks.

Ladies and Gentlemen I have returned because I cancelled and they charged me $60 after the fact and on top that they replied and they were real lazy about defending themselves.

Your response doesn’t actually address what I experienced. My issue was never about whether the FTC rule is currently enforced—it’s that your own website and staff make cancellation sound simple, yet the actual process is confusing, delayed, and full of unnecessary obstacles. I did try to cancel online, and the callback you said I’d get never happened. Calling that “very simple” just isn’t honest.

You also brushed past the core problem with the sales tactics and the body scan. Saying other gyms do it doesn’t address how it’s used at your location or the pressure and guilt that came with it. That’s what made the experience feel manipulative, and your response ignores that entirely.

And now, finding out I was charged $60 after canceling only reinforces my point. If the process were as clear and straightforward as you claim, this wouldn’t have happened. Your reply leans on a legal technicality instead of acknowledging the misleading presentation and the pressure-based environment that I—and many others—have experienced.

My review was about honesty, clarity, and how customers are treated, and your response didn’t speak to any of that. Once again.

YOU SUCK.

I've been going to this gym for 7 months now and I love the atmosphere at their Shawnee location. I see a variety of people at different stages in their fitness journey, so as someone who is starting out I do not feel like I don't belong. The staff is very friendly and I absolutely love working with one of their personal trainers, Allison Her! She is the best at coaching and motivating you to do the workouts needed to see results! I give her a full 5 stars!! The gym facility itself lacks a few things like more water fountains and working toilets, but other than that they have good amenities that I take advantage of such as the daycare center, the suana, and their 3D body scanner.

I walked in today and said hello to the girl at the front desk — she completely ignored me. No eye contact, no acknowledgment. When I calmly asked about it, she tried to claim she did say hello (she didn’t). Then another staff member inserted himself into the situation like I was the issue instead of addressing the actual disrespect.

If you’re going to work the front desk, at least acknowledge paying members like human beings. The attitude and lack of basic courtesy here is unacceptable. Front desk staff needs retraining on customer service and basic communication.

I go to the gym to train, not to deal with insecure staff energy.

Can't wait for this gym to open up north. Hopefully they will never have a puppy yoga which is totally unsanitary like genesis club which was not successful anyway. I can use the mats again at crunch. A dog never needs to be in a gym . People have allergies. Love how the gym is clean and state of the art. Hopefully the staff including upper management is nice and helpful

I’m confused at the reviews because this gym is so nice but maybe it’s because I don’t go at peak times. But even weekends aren’t bad at all. Really nicely laid out. My only two complaints are:
-more abductor and adductor machines as they are popular machines and only one of each
-Izzie is the best trainer. However, she doesn’t respond to texts and ghosted me. I see her around so I know she still works here. Otherwise, she knows her stuff and really helped! I’d continue to work with her if I could get a response.

“Hey man how much is a membership?”
- “A membership? Which one?”

Great gym, hard to cancel. You have to go in and cancel in person, and they still charge you for the next month that you will no longer be using them. Also, because I cancelled the payment, I now have to pay late fees as well as another payment just for them to cancel. I would not recommend only due to this fact. Join with caution.

Openers don't care if they open on time or not. Takes two months to re-upholster a pad or fix a broken machine. There are bolts that have been loose on machines and benches since this gym officially opened. I gave a bolt to the front desk, Personal Training director, was also standing there, I told them there are several other bolts loose or missing. They said thank you and went back to scrolling on their phones for the next 30-45 mins, never addressing the issue. Front desk staff would rather watch movies on the computers or their phones. The Personal Training Director would rather do one rep deadlifts for an hour or make stupid youtube videos where he is actually walking on the benches/upholstery. Locker room is a dump/mess. usually no towels or soap. Lets just say, all of the staff would've been fired long time ago if it were back when I was in the business....But they don't seem to care. This all has clearly been to same issues since they opened and nothing has changed.

Their rating says it all. Good luck canceling your membership with them. They’re an absolute joke. They actually have me signed up with my home club as being the Lawrence location. They won’t change it. They expect me to drive all the way out to Lawrence Just to cancel my membership. My only other option is to waste a letter that’s probably not going to be good enough and send it certified to them saying that I want to cancel my membership. Although I have told them several times that I want to cancel they keep trying to take money out of my account and charging me late fees. The staff every time I brought up canceling my membership to them over the phone were completely rude and unprofessional. And they refused to stop trying to take money out of my account. They’re obviously not that popular and are going broke. They are literally charging me late fees when I’m telling them to cancel my membership. And to add insult to injury they have done nothing since I signed up with them but lie and deceive and bait and switch. They were first advertise as being open 24 seven which is why I signed up with them. Then it turned out to be 24 five after they opened their doors. And now it’s not even that. I have never used my membership with them for that reason and for the past year and a half I have been trying to cancel. I had to call my bank and tell them to stop letting them take out money. And now on top of late fees they’re charging me fees for my card being declined. obviously they’re in dire need of money. And will try to get it no matter how criminal they have to be about it.

Having ultra right wing conservative media on full volume blast in the men’s locker room is a WILD choice for a gym. Especially for a young demographic. I’d say the same for any left wing media. It’s a gym, put on some sports - not politics. Embarrassing to say the least.

Bathrooms are always super dirty and not stocked with the basic essentials.

Overall, gym and staff are good but man they should be making better choices.

The only reason I’m giving 2 starts instead of 1 is because the staff is really good. They’re friendly, kind, and helpful. The gym overall is ridiculous. It’s constantly packed and there’s not enough equipment to go around and the gym bros don’t give a crap if you’re using equipment or not, they’ll just move your stuff out of the way. I also had to pay a cancellation fee if $100 for less than 2 months so proceed with caution. There’s cheap options and places that charge nothing for a cancellation. Read the fine print.

Don’t get a membership at this gym. I’ve been a member at three crunch fitnesses. The first was in Lawrence. The second was Olathe right when they opened. Because this is the closest location to my house, I switched my membership over to this one. I deeply regret making that switch. The staff, though they are friendly do not address any of the issues that this facility has. This place is just concerned with one singular thing and that’s selling memberships. Once you are a member, you might as well be a fly on the wall. The men’s locker room is repulsive. There’s never any soap at the sinks. Incredibly unsanitary. In the sauna, which is also located in the men’s locker room. There is a layer of dirt and hair underneath both of the benches. Which indicates they’ve never been mopped or cleaned. I’ve never had the desire to look in the men’s showers, but I can only imagine. The equipment cleanup stations have no spray. The equipment itself often is lacking pads. They will remove them to be recovered and not replace them for weeks. There is one singular water fountain that fills up water bottles at snail pace. Which creates a line for the water fountain. Completely absurd and the only gym I’ve ever seen that happen at. I have a friend who visits here nearly daily. He is addressed all of these issues to the GM. All of these vocalized concerns, go completely unanswered. Heed my warning do not get a membership here. You are better off paying a little more money for a club that actually takes care of their facility and listens to the concerns of their guests.

Update: Full week later and no improvements, hair all over the floor in the showers and sauna. Pads still missing from machines. On the benchpress of all things. Truthfully the most utilized piece of chest equipment in there and they can’t keep 3 benches in order.. cancelling soon and finding a better place to workout. Ridiculous

We moved and needed to cancel a membership. They lied to us over the phone and told us to cancel it online, which we could not do according to their website and they knew it wasn’t possible when they gave us that information. When we went in person to cancel, which they later told us was the only way to cancel, they charged us for an entire extra month. Deceptive pricing and not customer friendly. Had to drive an hour and a half to cancel a membership they could have just as easily done over the phone.

While all reviews are subjective, I’m fairly certain those who heavily rely on the facility amenities won't agree with my five stars. There is a lot to be desired with this location and Crunch in general, but I will fight anyone who says Crunch Shawnee does not have the best training staff.

Izzie L. is the only reason I signed up for this gym a year ago and she is still the main reason I keep coming back. I’ve been in KC for 10 years and have tried numerous gyms and trainers over the years. I cannot express enough how incredible Izzie is and highly recommend that anyone joining, especially if you are nervous or uncertain about how to use equipment, request her as your trainer. Izzie's obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about training but it’s important to me that she also makes sure I learn and understand enough that I can better see what does and does not work for my body type. She focuses on helping me optimize my exercises for my specific goals and also shows me specific ways that form may look or feel different based on my height and build so I'm using the correct refences and comparisons to others. She doesn’t let me skip or quit, even if I’m extra unmotivated for one of our scheduled sessions. Instead, she'll show me lower intensity workouts or mobility exercises so I'm still doing more than if I hadn't come at all. I love that she is so adaptive & always has a backup plan when equipment is in use or when I have to use a hotel gym with fewer equipment options. Never before have I been confident enough to work out on my own in front of others, but since I’ve been training with Izzie, I have done exactly that. For the first time I feel I know what I’m doing and have enough experience to safely use free weights on my own.

Past Izzie, the entire staff has only ever been friendly, energetic, and seem to actually care about their members. I have had many positive interactions with the rest of the trainers who enthusiastically greet me every time I come in. This gym has the most chill, community-like vibe that I’ve ever experienced. I haven’t been to any other Crunch locations, but I have never felt as comfortable in a public gym as I do here. It's a very accepting and relaxed environment which is apparently crucial for me.

For the less than ideal side of things.. The one single water fountain is abysmally slow to fill and the sensor is so finicky I usually have to hold my hand over it as it will not recognize my water bottle. I don’t use the locker room or showers but it is an annoyance that you have to bring your own lock. It’s often incredibly hot and muggy in the gym. Obviously, some of this is just what happens in KS summer when the HVAC can’t keep up, but it does seem like this building has a harder time keeping cool than other gyms I’ve been in. The parking is horrendous. I have no idea what the plan was when this location was chosen, but that parking lot is not big enough. My absolute biggest frustration is that their software is absolute garbage. Sometimes the computers are messed up so I can't scan in at the beginning of a training session. The app is useless for anything except signing up for group fitness classes. Why in the world would they not make my training schedule available for me to view? I can see classes I’ve signed up for, but not the sessions I have scheduled with my trainer. The in-app barcode works fine as a replacement for the keychain you scan in with. There also is a cool feature where you can create your own workout/training plans, but it’s so cumbersome to set those plans up that I stopped trying and just use my own spreadsheet instead. Otherwise, the app is so clunky and cluttered with ads for Crunch+, challenges, and partner deals that the barcode is the only reason I ever open it.

Overall, I’m happy enough with the attitudes and helpfulness of the staff that all other problems seem to simply be personal annoyances with easy enough workarounds. Membership fees are extremely reasonable so give it a chance and talk to Izzie before you waste your money on the bigger chains!

A salesman came to my office a year ago offering $1 membership for this location when they open. I ended up moving away and just got a call from a collections agency saying I owe $275 for the last few months of membership fees even though I had called to inform them I moved away and cancelled.

I have no texts or voicemails about sending me to collections. Management said they don’t give notice of these things and I would’ve had to read it in the contract I was sent a year ago, and that there was nothing I could do and I had no hope of even getting that total reduced.

TERRIBLE business practices. I never even stepped foot inside the gym once. After seeing the state of the bathrooms online I would never want to. $275 for a few month… and I thought this was supposed to be a budget gym???

The gym itself is good. Typically, a machine is down for repairs, or you have to wait for benches and equipment during peak hours. It's a popular gym, so expect days where it'scrowded. The classes are great, and the instructors are friendly. Trainers are available. Outside of the gym, the parking is ridiculous. Just wish people would stop parking along the curbs in the actual driving areas. Also, the owner of the parking lot has yet to fix the huge car eating potholes in front of the main entrance.

I am enamored by this gym. I first experienced this company in Topeka a few years ago. I was surprised by the variety of equipment they offered, the friendly staff, and how high quality everything seemed. They don't offer anything that is water-based, like a pool, hot tub, or wet sauna. but they have everything else and more. Now that they have moved into Johnson County, I believe that they will continue to expand into the Kansas City area. I love this gym and choose to go here over their competitors. This location is humongous. It does get busy, but that's because they are doing something absolutely right. I enjoy every experience from the ample parking in front of the gym, as well as across the street in a private lot, to when I finish some of my sessions with a tan in the recovery zone and walk out with a farewell almost every single time. The price is unbeatable. I am so happy that this company is expanding and will continue to do so. I can honestly say that it is hands-down the best value I have ever found. If you want a gym for the knitty-gritty, it's this one. For the cardio-centric, it's this one. For the beginner or the expert, it's this one. Every gym concept has its own pluses and minuses. So, in this case, I have to give this gym an A+ for my needs. I've been a member at almost every gym in the area over the past 20+ years, and I highly recommend trying Crunch Fitness.

Two stars because there is plenty of equipment. Men’s locker room/bathroom is consistently dirty and often filthy. The floors are obviously not mopped daily or even every 2 days. Dust under the footprint of every piece of equipment. GM/owner needs to be in there cleaning if s/he doesn’t have the staff to do the job.

UPDATE: 2 months later (11/27/24)
I’ve seen associates cleaning the men’s locker room on multiple occasions this month.

UPDATE: 8 months later (5/31/25)
Upping this to 3 stars. Equipment is repaired very quickly. It’s a little cleaner.

Look, the gym itself is great but they charged me 100 dollars because they rolled out annual fees along with other fees I’m still not sure what. In the contract it states TBD on when your first billing statement will be and the annual fee. There was no email or anything letting us know when we would be billed this. I owed late fees for bills that weren’t determined beforehand. Also, if you buy an item inside the store and the employee double charges you by accident. You will get your money back but then crunch will charge your bank 6.58 for the returned debit transaction. Why? Also twice in the past 6 months they have double charged my bank account for my monthly fees. You have to contact them over and over again to get your money refunded only for them to do it again next month. Crunch’s billing department needs a complete overhaul. Look at your bank statements, the people controlling the billing are scum

I've been pleased with the first 6 months of my membership at Crunch. As long as you understand the business model (i.e. low fees = lots of members, and crowds at peak times) and you have some time flexibility, you can adapt accordingly.
Equipment is new and kept in good condition, and there is a great selection whether you want to do a machine circuit, Crossfit-style functional training, cardio, or free weights. Are there a few machines that are frequently occupied? Sure, but as long as you aren't too rigid on the order of your exercises you can work it in.
I've seen some complaints about the locker rooms; my experience is that they do an acceptable job of keeping locker rooms clean given the traffic flow.
I also had a membership issue to resolve, and Aidan did a wonderful job of understanding my issue and handling it quickly and professionally.
Overall, I'm very happy with Crunch and would recommend it to anyone looking to try out a new gym.

I would like to consider having Monday 24 hr open, I usually go to the gym after midnight and every time spend more than 2 hr between long stretching time, boxing, lifting and machines, cardio, sauna, shower. Beside that, everything should run great 👍🏻 there was a day I spent time at gym between 1am-5am I often make it 3-4hr this due to my anxiety and depression and kicking it out at the gym is my greatest time of the day and I makes me feel sad that you're narrowing schedule on Monday until 12am.

Staff is nice, but there are some issues if they want to retain customers past one year of membership. Let’s start with potholes as you enter the parking lot, specifically the two big ones right in front of the building, not acceptable. They need to be fixed ASAP. Lack of parking, I understand this is a commercial gym, so it’s going to be busy, but it needs to be addressed. They are advertising as being open 24/5 with their signage on the building, but hrs operation doesn’t reflect this.
Sunday: 7 AM–9 PM
Monday: 5 AM–12 AM
Tuesday: Open 24 hours
Wednesday: Open 24 hours
Thursday: Open 24 hours
Friday: 12 AM–11 PM
Saturday: 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.

It needs to be updated and changed. For the price, it’s okay. I’m giving it 3 stars because I feel if I want a better experience, I need to pay more somewhere else. The staff is friendly and have zero issues with them, but definitely maintenance and clearer communication are my issues.

Water fountain has already broken since opening, finding parking is A NIGHTMARE. They have a little bit of overflow parking across the street but it’s always full also. Sauna has broken since opening, some stalls and urinals have been out of service like every other week, the HIIT class closes the entire area for class, and I’m forced to wait to use the punching bags. They literally have rooms for that type of stuff yet they decide to close that whole area off. Paper towel containers are always empty. I got a membership because I liked the Lawrence location when I was in college but man the maintenance here is lacking really bad. My biggest pet peeve is honestly the parking. It takes 10 minutes of circling to find a spot that’s not across the entire shopping area.

Wish I could rate this place higher. In the beginning I absolutely loved coming here and never really had a complaint. Yes I wish they refilled the wipes more often because they never seemed filled. They recently fixed the water fountain which is great but this past snow storm they were unable to get their parking lot plowed. I went the day after the snow fell and figured they'd get to it. The following day it was worse since multiple cars had been driven. I called to see if they were going to do something about it since I'd seen multiple cars including mine get stuck. And they said someone from corporate dealt with that. It's been over two weeks and the parking lot is still not cleared of the snow. Well ice now since that's what is been reduced to. They need to maintain their new facility better. Recently the lights in the parking lot (main and overflow) have not been turned on. I go to the gym at 4am and find it to be pretty dangerous to not even have any lights in the parking lot. I mentioned it to the front desk person and he said "alright, cool" with no response. I'm never one to jump the gun but I am looking to take my business someplace else.

The club isn't bad. People are friendly. I hate how loud they keep the music there. I wear my headphones but the house music drowns out what i actually want to listen to.

The music blares in the lockroom also, so you hear rap music in the sauna when all you want to do is unplug an be alone with your thoughts.

Please turn the music down, I can't imagine everyone with their headphones enjoys the loud music.

I wouldn't go here even if I had a membership. Just trying to find a parking spot for the other stores in that area is absolutely madness. They allow their patrons to block the roadways and to park on curbs impeding the flow of traffic you can't get to the thrift store or have parking for the urgent Care that is right next to it it's unsafe and they need to manage the parking lot better

I've been going to Crunch for a few months now and it's a very good gym! Nice customer service, great assortment of machines for both cardio and weights. They also have great areas for squatting and fitness classes. Options for personal training as well.

The only downsides to be aware of:

-It is almost always BUSY. In my experience, Sundays and perhaps early in the morning are the less busy times (given that I work a 9-5 and haven't tried going in the middle of a weekday afternoon).

-Related to how busy it typically is, the parking lot is not great. It is actually decent in size but it is not adequate to hold the volume of clients.

That being said, it's likely the best gym in the area and I plan to continue attending.

Gym is nice. Only one water fountain for the whole gym. Locker room is disgusting. so many things are already broken after being open less than two weeks. Sauna door has huge gaps and doesn’t shut well. I reached out online and no one responded so I’ll post the pictures here.

Update: They also let homeless people hangout in the locker room and lay on the benches watching tv as well as use the sauna. When I confronted staff they advised there was nothing that could be done. I spoke with a manager after that and he apologized about my experience.

I figured after that all the staff would be on the same page about not allowing homeless people to just hangout without a membership. I show up to the gym today and the same homeless guy was wandering around all the weight equipment after he was in the bathroom.

I do not write reviews very often, but I have to take the time to appreciate Maggie at the front desk who works on Sunday mornings and goes above and beyond to keep the facility clean, safe, and enjoyable for the members. I see her do tasks outside of her job description every single day with a joyful spirit. Maggie makes every member feel welcome and brings an uplifting spirit to the entire gym. If I ever consider switching gyms, she is the reason I will keep my crunch membership. I went here right when it opened up until just recently when the Olathe location opened and I live closer to there. Depending on time/day it could get busy (as expected for a commercial gym) but machines opened up decently fast, and everyone pretty much did their sets and kept moving! Can only speak for the women’s locker rooms, but they were always decently clean and kept up after as long as other members cleaned up after themselves too. Switching locations was also super easy, and staff members were always welcoming!

Joined gym when they first opened and within the first three months it was disgusting, sauna broken, locker rooms trashed, etc. When attempting to cancel, manager was never present to cancel membership, so i had my debit card reissued and called to leave a message with the manager to be put on the alleged "cancelation list, and the manager will confirm with you". Up until now, I never experienced any issues!
The entire gym just has two or three mats! Additionally, those mats smell and are of very cheap quality. Usually, all of the ripped and little pieces of mats become stuck in clothing!
It's obviously bad that thousands of people only use just three mats!
I want to do some yoga today and ask one of those mats that are locked in the group exercise area. "Unable to give or provide any matt," said Manager Adin. said, "Take it or leave it," pointing to one of those three mats while rolling his eyes.
First of all, the entire gym cannot have three mats!
Second, if you are a manager in the service business , you should learn how to apologize. I was asking something that all gym should have and provide to costumers.
Very impolite! I am unsure of what to say if the management is speaking to the customer in such a manner! I was disappointed as I left the gym.

This gym seemed like a good deal and was very clean… at first. The owner and staff should be disgusted in the way this gym is maintained. Floors are always dirty, towels are never refilled, piss all over the bathroom floors, water fountain that barely works, a sauna that may work 2 days a week and just the absolute filthy conditions of the locker room.
Genesis may be expensive but it’s a lot better than here… and trust me I hate genesis.

When I cancelled my training sessions due to scheduling conflicts, the cancellation was never completed. I was charged twice more for sessions that I don't want and still have not received a refund for. I had to try to chance down the manager of the personal trainers but no matter what time of day I came in, he was never there. Finally I was able to talk to the area manager, he said that he would stop any further payments from happening, and work on getting me my refund.

My partner and I have been coming to this gym since it first opened in June and we love it! There are so many treadmills, weight-lifting stations, and a stretching zone which I've never seen at any other gym. The atmosphere almost always feels positive and it's definitely a gym where people are focused on their own workouts and not judging each other. The only downsides are that we live a bit far away (obviously not the gym's fault), but we are hoping they might open up another location in KCMO at some point. Also, for some reason the TV channels are not mixed up at the cardio station, so the same channels are on close to each other, rather than spread out to give more viewing options, but this is also not a huge deal. This really only affects me because my health issues make it so that I sometimes have to use the stationary bikes rather than the treadmills, which are only on one side of the cardio zone. Overall, we really enjoy coming here and the staff is so friendly when we're entering and leaving the gym.

Literally terrible. Canceled months ago, which was already a pain since I couldn't cancel my membership on call and had to go on person, then when I went the manager wasn't there so I had to go in again. When I finally thought it was canceled and I haven't thought about it for months it result that I have a debt of 239 dollars for a base membership and I guess I had it coming because 1) I didn't get any confirmation about my membership registration and 2) I didn't get any email confirmation of my cancelation. I will call tomorrow to even see if my membership is canceled and then I have the doubt they are even going to try and check it since there's a 50/50 chance a manager is there. This gym is the worst thing that has happened to me, I literally just wanted the gym bag.

Purchased a membership here earlier today as their hours displayed they are open 24 hours on the weekdays and 7-9 on weekends PER THE FRONT DOOR OF THEIR OWN FACILITY. I drove 20 minutes and showed up at 10:50pm this evening and was told the club will be closing in 10 minutes. THEN WHY THE HELL DOES IT SAY THEY ARE OPEN 24/5? ALSO, WHY WOULD THEY CLOSE AT 11 SPECIFICALLY WHEN IT IS NOT A LISTED CLOSING TIME? EVEN IF IT WERE THE WEEKEND, THEN THIS CLUB SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLOSED 2 HOURS AGO! This signage is unclear at best and clearly is used as plausible deniability for anyone who doesn't want to stick around on a Friday night. The employee inside didn't really seem to care much about the fact that it was some bs, just shrugged and smugly said "oh well that's what I've been doing since we opened". Blueballed on my workout after drinking 400mg of caffeine pre workout, thanks guys. 😡 If it isn't accurate, take this sign down. This is false advertising.

Gym is decent, locker rooms are okay- usually somewhat dirty. They do a good job of keeping paper towels restocked on the gym floor, but management doesn't respond to emails well. Biggest complaint is the lack of a dress code. Crunch has no problem letting young women and girls, including ones well under 18, walk around and workout wearing a minimal amount of clothing. I’ve been a member at this crunch and crunch fitnesses elsewhere as well as other gyms and they are all pretty much ran the same. The 30/60 day notice is normal. Buyout fees are normal. The yearly fee is normal. When you cancel and they ask if you want to freeze or transfer, that’s normal. I’ve been helped by Jaret quite a few times and he’s always friendly and willing to answer questions. After reading reviews after I cancelled today I got freaked out that maybe it didn’t go through, I called and Hayden assured me that I was good and all cancelled up. There are no reasons for these people to scam. You just gotta go by the rules and policies. The only thing I didn’t like was upgrading memberships is $60 but if that’s their policy then that’s their policy.

So far I am not at all pleased. I want to be, the gym is new and the equipment is great, but their system for booking a personal training session is seriously flawed. I booked once via the front desk (after not being able to book through the app despite multiple attempts.)

I arrived for my session, and the trainer didn’t show up. I was able to talk with someone on the management team, and they re-booked me for this morning, guaranteeing that the trainer would be there. Guess what? No trainer this morning either.

Unfortunately, the evidence suggests that Crunch is happy to take your money, but not deliver the service you paid for.

We signed up for the personal training and after two months I had to freeze due to having surgery. Even though I gave my trainer three weeks notice I was still charged. This keeps happening where I would ask for it to be frozen and either he wouldn't tell the manager in time or the manager was never working to get it frozen. I tried calling multiple times and the front desk would either hang up on me after telling me to contact my trainer or say they would tell the manager and I would never hear back from them. I have been charged over $400 for something I can't use due to surgery recovery and they refuse to refund me because it was apparently my fault. I sent an email over a week ago since calling hardly ever seems to work and they have yet to respond and according to my bank account I was charged yet again. On top of this, our trainer left and when I asked to cancel the contract due to him being gone I was told I would just get a new trainer. After all of this I will not be coming back to Crunch and will just go back to Planet Fitness where at least the training sessions are free. One star is being generous.

His manager sees us talking for a little too long comes over and says oh it can’t be helped and you can’t cancel your membership here. “You’re gonna have to talk to your location” (over 120 miles away), and the weirdest part is neither of them offered me a new membership or an upgrade. I’ve been going to crunch for seven or eight years. I already called my bank to dispute the charges and my new coworkers already told me about Genesis so I’ll be working out there. I told her that I signed up online for it, and staff the previous day let me use it. She told me that they don’t and they have never had a 7 day trial, and the other employee wasn’t a manager so she shouldn’t have let me use the facility. She told me that I am not allowed to work out at the gym without a membership. So just be aware that if you attempt to use a free trial from the website, you may be turned down. If I could give this place zero I would. Been trying to cancel my membership for about a week and every single time I have gone into a location I have been told that nobody there has “access to the system” needed to close my account and the only “manager” who can is never working. That has happened 3 times now and each time I was told I HAVE to come back to a location to close my account and that I couldn’t over the phone. Simply canceling a membership shouldn’t be this hard and you should always have a manager present that is capable with assisting members with all things his employees can’t. Won’t be going back here. I recommend others stay away as well.

I joined right as they opened. Started the personal training sessions. Told the trainer a month in advance I’d have to quit after my sixth payment due to many personal reasons. My contract stated I couldn’t quit before I had officially paid six times so fine I rode that out. I thought everything was taken care of a good month ago and I reminded them every week I’d be done with training at this specific date. This Wednesday I got a text that there was miscommunication with the CEOs and higher ups and idek but I went in that night canceled my membership and was told since my card was being taken off file I wouldn’t get charged for these sessions I was no longer doing. Today $110 pending when I already by word of mouth and through text prove wanted this cancelled. I haven’t even been to a session in like three weeks. Jared front desk has been a big help, can’t say much for other people. I’m not one to write reviews but they played with my money and I’m pretty upset right now, when I thought I had done everything correct to where this shouldn’t even be happening ! Tried to call front desk and left voicemail as well so who knows.

I love the gym! Atmosphere is great! The equipment quality and selection are great! Trainers are awesome! Some leg machines aren't shot-leg friendly, but I can make it work. One negative note: The front desk worker PJ is extremely rude. She was rude to my boyfriend and I when his transfer wasn't finalized from Lawrence to Shawnee - that was their own fault because we have told them many times and they don't seem to submit whatever they need to. We literally heard a group of guys that day also complain about her attitude, and we didn't even know them! Plus, I've been a personal trainer for Crunch. Some of the things she seems to get irritated by are perfectly reasonable requests. I told her I didn't have my key card (I know from experience checking people in that we can use a phone number if you forget your barcode), and she rolled her eyes at me! I didn't tell her I was an employee at the time because I wanted to see how nasty she would be to a customer. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed.

Not the best Crunch I've been too so far. Compared to NJ, Texas, and even SD locations. If they can keep up with the cleaning and expand to other locations so this location isn't overcrowded. The Quality and value will improve.

I repeatedly asked to cancel my membership but I am still being charged. They force you to go inside to cancel your membership which is a big inconvenience. Very mad about this.

The gym was pretty great and seemed to have enough machines to keep people busy! Had an issue with the billing for a bit (duplicate account in their system), but Hayden was awesome and helped me get it resolved! 😁

Watch out !! Scammed my wife . Agreed to $50 annual fee , charged $100 on top of them having her down on a plan she didn't agree to and then gaslit her despite her literally pulling up her contract . Refused to refund when she said she would not be back and told them she felt scammed . Also, they have an obscene amount of late fees when the day for it coming out was not agreed upon.

Lack of customer service. Was charged over 4 times for the membership and when we went up there to discuss the issue one of the teens at the front completely disregarded the issue and did nothing to try and help. Complete lack of communication very very disappointed. Waste of time.

Hand down the nicest gym around. Very clean. Very big and spaced out. New equipment. Overall I highly recommend this place. Any location I’ve been to so far is very nice. I have a membership and I will keep returning.

People who go to this place are beyond disrespectful. This company needs to have their customers park in their parking lot! Not the businesses around!!! We can't even park at Dutch Bros to get a drink nor can you park at any of the businesses next to it. When they're told not to park in front of Dutch Bros because it's their business parking lot they don't care they just keep walking.

They say there is no fee to cancel. When you call to ask about cancelling they say you have to go in. And then you go in and they say sorry, only a manager can cancel and they are only here 11-12 and then they get your information. And then you call at 1130 to confirm you're going in to cancel and they say "sorry the manager is on a call that is an hour". And then they say they'll call you when he's not a call so you can figure out the 5 minute window you can go in to cancel
I will never be a customer of this company ever again garbage

I've been a member since they started doing sign ups earlier this yr and actually go my daughter to sign up as well. I haven't stepped fit in a gym for over 20 years mainly due to cost and location. I pay $30 a month and have access to all of the amenities which includes classes, the high impact section, sauna, hydro massage all the equipment and even childcare (which I personally don't need). I love how they even have lockers with charging stations in the general weight area. When I signed up I also received a free 1 hr session with a personal train, but actually got 2 hrs. When my daughter joined I even got 1 month free membership. The staff are very friendly, helpful and patient with people that are new to the gym experience or coming back after a long time outside a gym like me which is refreshing. I can get reacquainted with the equipment at my own pace and the staff/trainers (when not with clients/members) are more than will to answer questions, help with workout routines and teach you how to work with equipment if you are unfamiliar with them. The classes I've taken so far have really made me work and sweat which I love. One instructor was really understanding when my daughter tried a class but got overwhelmed and had to leave 10 minutes into the class. When they say it's a judgement free gym, they really mean it. I would and have highly recommend(ed) this gym to anyone!
