The gym itself is good, with plenty of amenities and pricing comparable to other gyms in the area, which is why I am rating it a 3 but easy 2 for my other issues!

The main issues I've had involve payment problems and poor communication from management, which takes away from the overall experience. The payment issues were eventually resolved, but only because I had to be proactive in fixing the mistake made by Crunch Fitness. I recently paid my annual fee, so I'll be staying for now, but I do plan on switching in the future. If there were a way to reach corporate for issues with the management that would be great and if management showed more empathy and transparency when handling situations, I would have given a higher rating. Zero star for management.

I also wanted to say that the unlimited free guest is misleading as well, one of those things you have to read the terms(what the manager told me). You would think paying the peak results would be able to bring any guest at any time but that's not the case. I’ve been at this gym for 2 years now and just got told the other day I can only bring one main guest and anyone else I am bringing has to do a 7 day pass or day pass! Absolutely ridiculous!

I got told the same thing, as I was signing up they said I can bring a guest as many times as I want with the membership I chose, and I was told yes. They greet me by name, I pay for PT but here in the last few weeks they’re making up rules as they go and can’t even show in writing where it states the “guidelines” for the guest pass

I come here everyday! The employees here notice your effort and are always so encouraging and friendly. The trainers are exceptionally skilled and they have amazing variety of classes that you can join. They have great promotions and challenges. Everything is always clean and smells good and the Kids crunch is outstanding with their care. 10000% reccomend to anyone trying to find a gym whilst having children

Went as a guest with my buddy who pays for the top tier to bring a guest. One day he wanted to bring another friend who wanted to check it out but didn't want to buy a day pass or sign up for a membership. No big deal I signed up for a free trial membership for 7 days so they could join us. Come to find out as soon as I did that I then lost my guest privileges which they did not disclose to me at the time. They then made me sign up for a membership or told me I had to leave. The staff there for the most part is pretty rude. They really don't even acknowledge you when you walk in. I signed up for a 10 cent membership and got a t shirt but will be cancelling tomorrow because I'm not trying to pay $25 a month plus their $50 annual fee when my friend pays for the top tier membership and bringing a guest is part of his plan. Already found a way better gym. Don't waste your time with this place. Even the people who workout there are rude. Was deadlifting and a dude just came and took a plate that I was going to use and walked away. No etiquette whatsoever. They also want you to wipe the machines down after you lift but most the time the towel dispenser is empty which tells me that the machines get pretty dirty.

EDIT: Went back to try to cancel my cancel anytime membership and was told I had to wait 30 days. Place is such a joke and the manager was super rude about it. I will not step foot back in that place for another 30 days when I finally am allowed to cancel my membership. Hopefully I can actually talk to someone who is helpful unlike the lady who I'm assuming was the manager tonight.

The facilities are decent, and centrally located. I am severely disappointed by Crunch's handling of my cancellation, which was largely due to my trainer regularly showing up late and becoming unavailable our agreed time slot. It took multiple calls and in person visits to get my cancellation processed. While they say they have no contracts, be cautious about signing up for PT, as this locks you in to a contract with PT *and* the gym. In spite of cancelling after less than a month, they still charged me membership fees for this last month. I have, effectively, paid over $500 for a product on which I feel they did not deliver. Read the fine print, shop around, and buyer beware.

As a parent, the Kids Crunch program is a lifesaver. The attendants are warm, attentive, and my kids ask to come back every time. Knowing they’re taken care of gives me peace of mind so I can focus on my fitness goal. I know they recently had to clean up some former staff. Tried to go to Crunch a couple times to sign up for a membership. The first time, their GM wasn’t there and the employee at the counter didn’t know how to do memberships yet. He said the GM would be in the next day at 10am. Tried to stop again the next day at almost 11. The GM wasn’t there… they said maybe an hr to two hrs. I really enjoy all the amenities this gym offers for the price. The fitness classes are awesome also. My only complaint is you can get a personal training session when you sign up so I scheduled mine. Turns out they scheduled me with a trainer who was on vacation so when I arrived at the gym I sat around and waited until it was 15 after and the front desk guy had no idea what was going on nor could he reschedule me. He grabbed a trainer off the floor and had that person schedule me (Nik was very nice by the way). It was a total waste of the 1 hour I had to be there. It was scheduled 3 weeks in advance also so it just seems like there was plenty of opportunity for anyone to catch the mistake. Outside of this situation I definitely enjoy this gym and everyone I’ve interacted with.

Paper towels are almost always out in the tanning rooms and I don’t think they’re cleaned after every use by any means. The women’s bathroom/locker room isn’t the cleanest either and honestly the only employee that I ever have seen doing anything throughout all shifts of employee’s is the guy that works over-nights, I think his name is Bren. He’s always doing what he can to make things right so I’d say that’s a plus.

I’m very disappointed. I decided to sign up for to try it free for a month (a promotional offer). I didn’t even end up using the gym and never went in to get my id card. I forgot to cancel and was charged 29.99 on 7/14, which is totally my bad. I went online to cancel my membership after that and the message said that someone would call me. No one did. I retried calling several times over the next couple of weeks and left a voicemail with no response. I finally went in and they said that I can’t cancel online and that I would have had to come in. I don’t understand why they have an option to cancel online when you still have to come in person but whatever. Now I’m about to be charged for a whole month at a gym that I don’t even know if I can use because I never got an id. I also don’t understand why I’m going to be charged 92$ when my monthly subscription was only 29.99.

I would not recommend getting a membership here. They're owned by ABC fitness which puts you in a predatory contract. They would not let me see the cancellation policy before signing and they require a debit/credit card AND your ACH and routing number, they REQUIRE access to your BANK ACCOUNT. I've dealt with them before and they'll say they can cancel if you're out of state but they will require some sort of mailed in statement that they'll just throw away even if it's certified mail. Then if you go in person plenty employees will act like they can't or don't have the authorization to cancel your policy. Would not recommend, unfortunately I would just recommend jogging around the block.

Terrible gym to deal with took 90 two days ago and another 80 today called the girl that answered extremely rude hung up on me had to call back. Says it was late fees. That's 170.00 in two days.Asked for manager Said they don't have management. I got text and voicemails saying they would waive last fees. All lies. At first Crunch was really cool, has all the equipment you'd need for a solid workout, and it's all fairly new equipment as well. Trainers are tiny and rude, very few actually look like they lift anything, just runners. GM made fun of me for wearing a headband that had "GOAT" across it, telling me I'm not the Goat and making it her mission to put me down for whatever reason. I'm a Marine Veteran and just am trying to fight low testosterone as well as get back to the body the Corps helped me achieve, for myself but for my kids and family as well. Not from Topeka but have lived here about 3 years. This was solely my experience. There are absolutely great positive people here who love fitness and are down to give tips and recommendations on supplements and training routines. I was a member here for over a year until I left for Colaw. This gym is very busy from 3pm to 8pm and it will nearly be impossible to not have to wait for whatever weight system you wish to utilize, until the rush dies down. Things I really liked about Crunch was the pre workout beverages they stocked routinely and they ha e a very nice body scan system that can allow you to see where you stand physically towards goals. This is a commercial gym so lots of phones out and chatting on machines. Always usually a few of those at any gym unless it's a private gym. Hope you ha enjoy a better, friendlier experience than I if you decide to check this place out.

Impressive Gym with a Great Free Trial Experience!

I recently tried out Crynch for a 1-day free trial, and I was thoroughly impressed with the experience! The facility was clean, modern, and well-organized, with plenty of equipment available for all types of workouts. Even during peak hours, there was enough space to exercise without feeling crowded.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful from the moment I walked in. They made the sign-up process smooth and gave me a quick tour of the gym, which was a nice touch. I appreciated how approachable and friendly they were, even knowing I was there just for a trial.

WARNING - Do not join unless you want to be trapped and pay them for the rest of your life. They make it impossible to cancel your membership, which is done on purpose. No one answers emails. Returns phone messages, or letters. No one should have to physically go into a facility to beg to cancel a membership. I've never heard of such a thing. Clever, huh!?
I've tried to cancel multiple times for months. All of a sudden, I am receiving calls from a collection agency. I will NEVER have an agreement with crunch again and I'm asking my family and friends to cancel their memberships, as well. Ridiculous.

Was with crunch for a little over a year before deciding to switch based off of their terrible upkeep at their Topeka facility. None of the cleaning supplies were ever filled and paper towels were always empty. There is piss all over the mens bathroom floor. To make matters worse we canceled our plan with them to find out they didn’t actually cancel it so we went back in again to settle it. They said the cancellation never occurred and refused to refund for the months they even said we hadn’t used. They continued to say we would get billed for another month and that it was our fault that they failed to cancel it. Still trying to reach a cooperate office to settle this but there is no clear communication line for them. Terrible business, terrible employees and terrible facilities. I would never go back to them.

Rarely is there anyone at the front desk late morning and they have to grant access to certain benefits of the gym like massage chairs. So, then when someone does show up at the front desk you have to wait in line behind someone with a billing issue that takes a long while to sort out. If you complain to staff about anything whatsoever they act like they really could care less if you are a member or not. Then this morning some idiot mopped the belts on all the treadmills while it was raining outside. I nearly fell off the machine it was so slippery.

4 years with this gym and notably has customer service gone downhill but Iiterally had someone take all my cash and debit card out of my purse in the locker room recently. The janitor informed me that there was a man and woman going into the women's locker room to look for bags to steal from. I understand we are responsible for our locks but the one time I didn't have key it happened right away. Still doesn't make it right for someone to commit a crime. Front desk wasn't interested in helping me report this situation and made no effort to ensure it won't happen again and manager was no where to be found. It alarmed me that the staff acted like this was normal to happen there. Classes never change either and have gone downhill.

Absolutely love this location. The staff are always cheerful and welcoming. The Tanning area is off the charts. Tracy was so knowledgeable and educated me on how each lotion works and my tan has gotten 10 times better is a short amount of time. Plus my skin looks even better. The gym is always clean (as can be with so much traffic) and it’s just a great atmosphere all together. The pricing you cannot beat. I was paying $100 for the same spray tanning and the beds at a tanning salon and crunch beds are way better and newer. I could go on but definitely wanted to give this gym a shout out. So if u want a membership , unlimited tanning and water massage for less then $40 a month then crunch is your place. Good job guys!!

They raised my monthly payment from $9.99 to $17 (basic membership). I have been a member since 2019 and I can tell you that the bathrooms are always dirty and do not work, you can read this in many comments. The same thing happens with the machines, sometimes they are in poor condition or with signs that say you cannot use them. The water filter is always red and no matter how many times I report it, they do not change it. You may wonder why I continue training there? Because it is close to my house, but 80% of the time I spend at Colaw gym even though I have to drive a little further, that gym is always clean, the staff is very friendly and the machines always work, in addition to the fact that for $7 a month you can use hydromassage beds, massage chairs, tanning beds and everything that is in the gym. A single payment of 7 dollars with many advantages in addition to the fact that the users are nicer

Membership fee structure is cleverly set up to defraud the customer of their money. I read several places that I could cancel my membership at any time. In trying to cancel it now I'm told that it can't be canceled within the first 60 days until after my annual membership fee comes out which is $50 and that first month fee another $24 so I cannot cancel my membership until after I have given crunch fitness $75 even though I have not ever ever stepped foot in the club. That is wrong. It's a very clever way to take my $75 and have given me absolutely nothing. To me that amounts to nothing more than thievery.

From my first encounter with her, she provided information that conflicted with what I found on the website. I had questions, but she seemed more interested in hearing herself talk than allowing me to get out an entire concern. Same with our phone conversation today.

I do not, I repeat, I do not recommend membership at the Topeka location of Crunch Fitness. At least not prior to some customer service retraining of this particular gym employee. I believe people can turn it around, sometimes they just need a reminder. I’m pulling for her!

In the last year, there has been 5 occasions when the gym should be open and it is not. Several hours pass and it does not open. Talking with management about it, I have had only disrespectful and unprofessional interactions… I love the trainers at Crunch, but this place as a whole is filthy, inconsistent, and disrespectful.

It’s a standard Crunch gym with sauna, hydro massage and tanning; however it isn’t even 4 years old yet and lots of equipment is broken or the seating cracked.

Since moving away from being a 24/7 facility, there have been repeated problems with the Topeka Crunch location opening on time on Monday mornings. Today, 1/8/24, was a prime example. There must have been 30 people, myself included, waiting in the cold at 5AM for the doors to be unlocked, but once again, nobody had a key.

This situation is problematic for those of us who pay extra for access to classes like Spin. The essence of our 'Peak Results' membership lies in the ability to attend these classes at the scheduled times, but when the facility remains locked during those hours, it raises concerns about the value we are receiving for our membership fees.

What compounds this frustration is the exceptional group of instructors at Crunch who invest their time and effort into preparing classwork and building a loyal following, only to see that work undermined by a facility that consistently fails to open their doors during the advertised hours.

I sincerely hope the owners and managers look into the root cause of this issue to find a solution. Without a solution, Crunch is at risk of losing dedicated members and talented instructors.

On the website it shows a deal of .24 cents to sign up.
It shows it applying to all 3 of the packages that are offered.
( I had this location selected also, to clarify )

You can click on the 9.99 package and it shows it only costing .24 cents.
You can go through the entire process name/address and CC info and then it times out saying there is an error on Crunch Fitness end.

I tried to do everything above 2 times and failed.
I called this location and was told to just come on in to get signed up, so I did.

When I got there to get signed up I was told it is probably timing out because it doesn’t apply to the 9.99 package. ( it doesn’t say that at all when going through the process ).
Even if this is the case, it doesn’t even make sense that you can go through the entire process.

So this is my first time signing up for a gym in a long long time and this is my experience.

I knew there was going to be some weird issue/catch and it happened.

**I know the employees working there have nothing to do with this issue, they were nice people.**

The only good thing in this place is the sauna and the emptiness in the mornings. Good place to work out. However, their business practices suck. They raised my membership to another level without my permission. They don't send out reminder emails when it's time for the annual fee. Nor do they advise you of any changes to that fee. They hardly have anyone there to address any concerns. Finally, besides the bathroom and cardio area, the weights area can be quite filthy. The machines have piles of dust, dander, and hair. Only seen 1 person on cleaning detail. Other than that, it's convenient for working out.

Be careful about signing up.

I move and called to cancel my account months ago, got it confirmed with an employee. My mistake was not noticing that they were still taking money from me months later. Called to cancel again, said the manager would get to me. Waited, called again later, she’s in a meeting and somehow the only person that can help me cancel a membership.

I tried to get a corporate number that somehow the employees don’t know. I go onto the crunch website. When you click the number provided it makes you dial an +84 number which is unavailable. When you dial their corporate phone number, a robot states that the number is unmonitored. A lot of shady stuff going on attempting to take advantage of people that move state.

Absolutely disgusting customer service. I have been attempting to cancel a membership for multiple months now and have been given the run around at every turn. Two weeks ago I went in after my account was overdrawn due to them withdrawing membership fees despite me being told my membership was canceled. The money was refunded but today the fee was taken out along with a late fee. I will be filing a law suit if it is not corrected by the end of the following week! I will never recommend this business to a single soul.

Unfortunately this gym is always so dirty. Twice in the early afternoon the locker rooms were being cleaned but there was still trash left on the ground from 2 days ago. They need to do the cleaning at open or close, not when people are actively trying to use the locker rooms. Also the water filter hasn't been changed in months. So even the water is dirty....

Only 4 stars because this is not a 24 hr gym as advertised. Hard to get a good workout on the weekends when the place closes at 9pm. Atleast on Mondays and Fridays they stay open untill midnight. Other than the inconvenient weekend hours the staff are always friendly and helpfull.

The worst gym in Topeka hands down. This place is always filthy. Customer services is lacking all the way around. The equipment is always broken. Its sad that the management does not care enough to take care of the place. The hours are never accurate. No one is ever available to help with membership questions. No one returns your calls. But no worries they will make sure to get their money. Been trying to cancel for weeks now since we found a better gym and no one will call or is ever in the gym to help. Save yourself the pain and go ANYWHERE else.
